Description
熱電対、水冷コンデンサー、オーバーヘッドスターラー、窒素スパージャー及び添加口を備えた適当な反応器に脱イオン水(42.94g)とビニルホスホン酸(Rhodia VPA、76.5%、55.73g、0.3946モル)を仕込み、酸素を窒素でパージして85±2℃に加熱した。別個に、過硫酸ナトリウム(3.76g、0.0158モル)を脱イオン水(11.28g)に溶解して開始剤溶液を調製した。次いで、アクリル酸(AA、28.44g、0.3946モル)と開始剤溶液を、別々の添加口から反応器に240分間一様に滴下し、モノマーの50重量%溶液(遊離酸換算)を得た。添加後、反応器の内容物を95±2℃に加熱して90分間保持した。次いで、得られた生成物を室温に冷却し、苛性アルカリ水溶液でpH5±0.5に調整し、次いで脱イオン水で固形分35±1重量%に調整した。VPAの転換率は31P−NMRによって74モル%と推定され、アクリル酸の転換率は13C−NMRによってほぼ定量的であると推定された。
アクリル酸の代りに同じモル量のメタクリル酸(MAA)を使用し、過硫酸塩の仕込量を全モノマー仕込量の5モル%に増やし、MAAの供給を300分に延長し、開始剤の供給を420分間でずらし(50%を300分間一様に供給し、次いで50%を120分間一様に供給)、MAAと開始剤溶液供給後の反応固形物を遊離酸濃度として40重量%に下げた点以外は、実施例1(a)の通り。VPAの転換率は31P−NMRによって67モル%と推定され、メタクリル酸の転換率は13C−NMRによってほぼ定量的であると推定された。
モノマーとしてVPAのみを使用し、過硫酸塩の仕込量を全モノマー仕込量の5モル%に増やし、反応温度を95±2℃に上げ、開始剤の供給を600分に延長し、pHを3.5±0.5に調整した点以外は、実施例1(a)の通り。VPAの転換率は31P−NMRによって64モル%と推定された。
以下の脱イオン水溶液を調製した:塩化マグネシウム六水和物36.380g/Lと塩化ナトリウム40.696g/Lとを含有する溶液A、重炭酸ナトリウム0.333g/Lと塩化ナトリウム40.696g/Lと水酸化ナトリウム0.200g/Lとを含有する溶液B、並びに塩化ナトリウム40.696g/Lを含有する溶液C。等量部の溶液Aと溶液Bを組合せると、CaCO3としてMg+2約4,500ppm、CaCO3としてCO3 −2約100ppm、Na+約16,000ppm及びCl−約30,000ppmからなる溶液が得られる。すべての試験試料も、スクリーニング用試験溶液に添加するために、脱イオン水中の活性成分0.20重量%に希釈した。
Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, Greenberg A.E. et al., Ed., 18th Edition (1992)に従って、試薬用塩化カルシウム二水和物、重炭酸ナトリウム、塩化マグネシウム六水和物、フッ化ナトリウム、塩化ストロンチウム六水和物、臭化カリウム、塩化カリウム、ホウ酸、硫酸ナトリウム、ケイ酸ナトリウム一水和物及び再蒸留水を用いて、合成海水を調製した。溶液中のイオン濃度は誘導結合プラズマ原子分光分析(ICP)で求めた。
Claims (15)
- 脱塩システムにおいて水性媒体と接する構造部品でのスケール形成を防止する方法であって、ホスホノ官能性ポリマーIを含む処理剤を上記システムに添加することを含んでなる方法。
- 前記ホスホノ官能性ポリマーIが、ホスホノ官能基を有するエチレン性不飽和モノマー(B)の重合で形成される繰返し単位を含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記ホスホノ官能性ポリマーIが、非ホスホネートモノマー(F)の重合で形成される第2の繰返し単位を含む、請求項2記載の方法。
- 前記非ホスホネートモノマー(F)が、(i)カルボキシレートモノマー、(ii)スルホネートモノマー、(iii)アミド、並びに(iv)アリルエーテル及びスルホネート及びホスホネートアリルエーテルからなる群から選択される1種である、請求項3記載の方法。
- 前記非ホスホネートモノマー(F)がカルボキシレートモノマーであって、前記処理剤がカルボキシレートポリマーIIをさらに含み、I及びIIが水性媒体にIとIIの合計量で約1〜500ppm添加される、請求項4記載の方法。
- 前記カルボキシレートポリマーIIがポリマレイン酸又はその無水物である、請求項5記載の方法。
- 前記ホスホネートポリマーがポリ(イソプロペニルホスホン酸)である、請求項7記載の方法。
- 前記ホスホネートポリマーがポリ(ビニルホスホン酸)である、請求項7記載の方法。
- 前記水性媒体がマグネシウムカチオン及び水酸化物アニオンを、前記処理剤の非存在下では構造部品にMg(OH)2スケールが形成される条件下で含む、請求項7記載の方法。
- 水処理システムにカルボキシレートポリマー(II)を添加する段階をさらに含む、請求項7記載の方法。
- カルボキシレートポリマー(II)がポリマレイン酸及びその無水物から選択される1種である、請求項12記載の方法。
- 塩含有水性媒体がシステムの設備と接する脱塩システムにおいて水酸化マグネシウムのスケール形成を防止する方法であって、水性媒体に、
a)イソプロペニルホスホン酸のポリマー、
b)アクリル酸とその塩、マレイン酸とその塩及び無水物のカルボキシレート含有ポリマー並びにこれらのコポリマー又は混合物、
c)分散剤、及び
e)任意成分としてのホスホネート
を含む処理剤を添加することを含んでなる方法。 - 前記カルボキシレート含有ポリマーがポリマレイン酸ポリマー又はその無水物である、請求項14記載の方法。
