Description

The present invention relates to a projector having an autofocus adjustment function and an autofocus adjustment method, and more particularly to a projector and an autofocus adjustment method capable of preventing a focus adjustment malfunction caused by human sensing of a distance measuring sensor.

A projector is a projection display device that projects an image generated on an image forming element on a projection plane in an enlarged manner by irradiating light from a light source to the image forming element such as a digital micro-mirror device (DMD) or a liquid crystal panel. Currently, it is widely used from home theater to business presentations.

Especially when it is used for business presentations, it is often used in different places, and the distance between the projection surface and the projector changes each time it moves, so it is necessary to readjust the focal length each time. The adjustment was a burden for the user.

In order to alleviate this burden, a projector has recently been equipped with a distance measuring sensor, which continuously measures the distance to the projection surface and automatically adjusts the focus of the projection lens according to the distance to the projection surface. Projectors having an autofocus adjustment function have been used.

For example, in Patent Document 1, when the level difference between image signals output from a pair of line sensors is always a predetermined value or more by projecting a display image, the projection lens is adjusted based on the image signal. A projector is disclosed that reads and projects an image having a predetermined pattern stored in advance when it is equal to or less than a predetermined value, and performs focus adjustment using an image signal output by a pair of line sensors. Further, Patent Document 2 discloses a passive distance measuring device and a projector for performing complete automatic focusing that intermittently performs automatic ranging operation and performs focusing based on the obtained ranging result. It is disclosed.
Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2004-4388 JP 2004-233115 A

By using a projector with an autofocus adjustment function, it is not necessary to adjust the focus each time the projection position changes, so that the burden on the user is reduced and the time can be directed to the original presentation. became.

However, the autofocus adjustment function is designed to always adjust the focus automatically by measuring the distance from the projection surface during projection in order to reduce the burden on the user. If you enter the distance measurement position, the distance to the person will be mistaken for the distance to the projection surface, and the focal length of the projection lens will be automatically adjusted to the distance to that person. There is a problem that images are projected.

This problem can be avoided if the auto focus adjustment function is activated by the user each time it is installed and the function is stopped. However, current projectors require a great number of functions. Since the automation that does not impose a burden on the user is ongoing, a projector that projects a focused image on the projection surface even when a person blocks the projection light while maintaining the current autofocus adjustment function Is required.

An object of the present invention is to provide a projector and an automatic focus adjustment method capable of always projecting an in-focus image on a projection surface without changing the focus even when a person blocks the projector and the projection surface. There is.

The projector having the autofocus adjustment function of the present invention,
In projectors that project images onto the projection surface, a distance measurement unit that continuously measures the distance from the projector to the projection surface, a projection lens that can adjust the focal length, and a measurement result of the distance measurement unit automatically. A focus adjustment unit that adjusts the focal length of the projection lens, a human sensor that can detect the human location between the projection surface and the projector, and a projection by the focus adjustment unit when the human sensor detects the human location And a human presence control unit that interrupts the adjustment of the focal length of the lens.

A human sensor may be provided in the vicinity of the projection surface, and the human sensor receives a human image between the human sensor and the range of the projected image from the projector on the projection surface. You may have a lens which can condense on an optical part.

The automatic focus adjustment method of the present invention includes:
An automatic focus adjustment method for automatically adjusting a focal length of a projection lens of a projector, the step of automatically measuring the distance between the projector and a projection surface onto which an image is projected, and a measured projector Continuously adjusting the focal length of the projection lens of the projector based on the distance to the projection plane, continuously detecting human presence between the projector and the projection plane, and human And the step of interrupting the adjustment of the focal length of the projection lens of the projector while sensing.

According to the present invention, in a projector that has a built-in distance measurement sensor and automatically adjusts the focal length, a human sensor capable of detecting human movement even when a human tries to block between the projector and the projection surface. By detecting a person and using it, the autofocus operation corresponding to the distance to the person is temporarily stopped, so that the focus of the image on the projection plane is not disturbed.

In projectors that have an autofocus adjustment function, the distance to the projection surface is constantly measured by a distance measuring sensor built in the projector, and when the projector or the projection surface moves, the focus is automatically readjusted instantly. However, when a person tries to block between the projector and the projection plane, there is a problem in that the focus is adjusted by recognizing the distance from the person as the distance from the projection plane. In the present invention, since the human detection is detected by the human sensor incorporated in the projector and the focus adjustment is temporarily stopped, even when the human tries to block the projector and the projection surface, the focused image is always in focus. Can be projected onto the projection surface.

In the projector having the autofocus adjustment function of the present invention, even when the installation state including the projector and the projection surface changes, the projector always provides a focused state and a human enters between the projector and the projection surface. Even in this case, a focused image is projected on the projection surface.

Embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a schematic block diagram of a projector having an autofocus adjustment function according to the first embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 1, the projector 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention includes a light source unit 21 as an image projection element, an optical engine 22 having an image forming element 23, a projection lens 24, a focus adjustment unit 25, and an image. A signal input unit 26 and an image control unit 27; a distance measuring sensor 31 as an autofocus element; a distance measuring unit 32; and a focus adjustment control unit 33; a condenser lens 41 as a human sensing element; In addition, the control unit 43 includes a human control unit 43 and a central controller 50 that controls the overall operation.

In the image projection element of the projector 1, the video signal input to the video signal input unit 26 is controlled by the image control unit 27, and an image is formed by the image forming element 23 of the optical engine 22. The image is projected onto the external projection surface 60 via the projection lens 24 by the light from the light source unit 21. The focus of the projection lens 24 is adjusted by the focus adjustment unit 25.

In the autofocus element, a distance measuring unit 32 having a distance measuring sensor 31 as a distance measuring device measures a distance to the projection plane 60. The distance measuring device itself is already widely known, including for cameras, and any device that can accurately measure the distance to an object can be used. The focus adjustment control unit 33 discriminates necessary operations such as normal rotation, reverse rotation, and stop regarding the focus lens drive based on the distance information measured by the distance measurement unit 32, and outputs it to the focus adjustment unit 25. Adjusts the focus automatically by driving a lens motor and moving a part of the lens group of the projection lens 24 back and forth. At this time, by constantly updating the distance information by the distance measuring sensor 31 in the constantly monitoring state, the readjustment of the focus is continuously performed, and even when the projector 1 or the projection plane 60 moves, the projection plane 60 Keep the top image in focus at all times. In addition, the focus adjustment control unit 33 fixes the focus adjustment in a state immediately before it based on the human detection information from the human detection control unit 43 as described later.

In the human sensing element, the human sensor 42 detects a human existing between the projector 1 and the projected image on the projection surface 60 via the condenser lens 41. The human sensor 42 is widely used not only for crime prevention but also for automatic lighting of a light, and a sensor represented by a current collecting element can be used. The condensing lens 41 plays a role of condensing the human image in the human sensor 42 in an area substantially coincident with the image display area on the projection surface 60 projected from the projection lens 24. The human motion control unit 43 temporarily fixes focus adjustment based on the distance to the projection plane 60 measured by the distance measurement unit 32 while detecting a human within the detection range of the human motion sensor 42. 33 is instructed. The focus adjustment control unit 33 normally adjusts the focal length of the projection lens 24 by the focus adjustment unit 25 based on the distance to the projection plane 60 measured by the distance measurement unit 32. If there is, the focal length of the projection lens 24 is fixed in the previous state, and when there is no instruction from the motion control unit 43, the adjustment of the focal length of the projection lens 24 based on the distance measured by the ranging unit 32 is resumed.

Next, the operation of adjusting the focal length of the projector having the autofocus adjustment function according to the embodiment of the present invention will be described. As described above, when there is no obstacle between the projector 1 and the projection surface 60, the focus adjustment control unit 33 performs forward rotation on the focus lens drive based on the distance information measured by the distance measuring sensor 31. Necessary operations such as reverse rotation and stop are determined, the lens motor is driven by the focus adjustment unit 25, and the focal length is automatically adjusted by moving a part of the lens group of the projection lens 24 back and forth. At this time, the distance information obtained by the distance measuring sensor 31 is constantly updated, so that the readjustment of the focal length is continued, and even when the projector 1 or the projection surface 60 moves, the state in which the projected image is always in focus is maintained. To do. Here, when a human attempts to block between the projector 1 and the projection surface 60, the human motion is detected by the human sensor 42 typified by a current collecting element, and the human motion control unit 43 to the focus adjustment control unit 33. On the other hand, a command for temporarily stopping a series of lens driving via the focus adjustment unit 25 is issued so as to be executed with the highest priority. Here, the condensing lens 41 plays a role of condensing, on the human sensor 42, a human image that enters an area substantially coincident with the display area on the projection surface 60 projected by the projection lens 24.

A series of these operations is shown in the flowchart of FIG. FIG. 2 is a flowchart showing the focal length adjustment operation of the projector having the autofocus adjustment function according to the embodiment of the present invention. When the projector 1 is activated (S1), the image projected on the projection plane 60 is brought into focus by executing the autofocus process once based on the distance data acquired by the distance measuring sensor 31 (S2). ). Thereafter, human detection is continuously performed by the human sensor 42 (S3). If a human is detected, the process does not proceed to the next process, and the autofocus readjustment is not performed (S3 Yes). If no human is detected, the process proceeds to the next process (No in S3), and the distance change is determined by the distance measuring sensor 31 (S4). If there is no change in the distance, the process returns to step S3 again to continue the process (No in S4). If there is a change in the distance, the process proceeds to the next step (S4 Yes). (S6) If the process is not finished (S5 No), the process returns to step S2 to continue the focus process.

The focus is readjusted by the autofocus process S2, and then the process proceeds to the human detection step S3 in the same manner. Therefore, unless a human is detected (S3 No), the autofocus process is continuously executed for the distance change in step S4. When a human is detected (S3 Yes), the autofocus process is stopped and the focus is always on the projection plane 60. Maintain the state just before the match.

In the first embodiment, it has been described that the human sensor 42 is provided inside the projector 1. However, as the second embodiment, the presence of a human between the projector 1 and the projection surface 60 is detected. For example, the human sensor 42 may be provided in the vicinity of the projection surface 60 as long as it is possible.
