Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of a liquid crystal display device by simplifying construction of a bezel, thereby avoiding waste of materials in manufacturing.
SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 10 includes: a liquid crystal display panel 1; a backlight 2; a casing 4 to hold the liquid crystal display panel 1; and the bezel 3 to cover the liquid crystal display panel 1 on its periphery and on its side faces and fix it to the casing 4, wherein the bezel 3 is constructed by combining four pieces of L-shaped frames 20, 30 with identical shapes into a rectangle. Through holes 25, 35 for screw holes are arranged on the frames 20, 30 and are screwed in conjunction with each other. Thereby the shape of the bezel 3 is downsized and the cost is reduced because the wastes of the frame materials in stamping with a die are avoided. Also, since the frames 20, 30 are made into the L shape, the strength of the frame is increased so as to resduce deformation during transportation or operation, and since the panel 3 is firmly held with the mutually independent L-shaped frames, the panel 3 is prevented from dropping from the casing 4 or the like. Thus, the inexpensive and highly reliable liquid crystal display device 10 with the bezel 3 is obtained.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

Description

The present invention relates to a bezel of a support frame to be attached around a liquid crystal display panel in order to fix the liquid crystal display panel to a casing in the liquid crystal display device.

Liquid crystal display devices are used in a very wide range of displays such as flat-screen TVs, notebook personal computers, mobile phones, and video camera monitors.

Such a liquid crystal display device has a structure in which a liquid crystal display panel that displays an image and a backlight that irradiates the liquid crystal panel from the back are stacked. The backlight uniformly irradiates the liquid crystal display panel as a planar light source. Further, the liquid crystal display panel displays a predetermined image by controlling the transmittance of light emitted from the backlight for each pixel.

By the way, in a liquid crystal display device, in order to obtain an image with high brightness and little luminance unevenness, it is necessary to support and fix the backlight and the liquid crystal display panel close to each other. A frame-shaped member that fulfills this role is called a bezel, and the liquid crystal display panel is securely fixed to a casing including a backlight by the bezel.

As such a conventional liquid crystal display device, a device in which a liquid crystal display element is attached to a housing by a bezel formed in a metal frame shape is known (for example, see Patent Document 1). In such a conventional liquid crystal display device, the bezel is integrally formed by bending a thin metal plate material into a predetermined shape according to the size of the liquid crystal display element, and further pressing it. However, in this integral molding, a frame-like plate material was punched out from a thin metal plate material, and was punched out and was discarded because the area of the opening in the central portion was not used, which caused a great waste. Moreover, it is necessary to design and manufacture complicated frame-shaped plate materials corresponding to the types of liquid crystal display elements for liquid crystal display elements of different sizes, and it has been difficult to share a bezel. Furthermore, the increase in the waste of materials and the increase in the size of the mold due to the integral molding associated with the increase in the size of the liquid crystal display device are factors that further increase the manufacturing cost of the liquid crystal display device. In general, bezels are thin and light in weight for display devices, so the thin metal plates used are thin and susceptible to external pressure. In particular, rectangular frame-shaped bezels can be distorted and deformed during work and transportation. There was sex.

As a conventional liquid crystal display device to cope with such a problem, in the structure of the bezel, first, a pair of L-shaped plate members are formed by punching each of separate metal plate materials, and then these two L-shaped members are formed. There is known an apparatus for forming a rectangular bezel by combining rectangular shaped plate materials into a rectangular shape, welding both end edges together, forming a rectangular frame plate material, and press-molding the rectangular frame plate material into a required shape. (For example, refer to Patent Document 2). Further, as another conventional liquid crystal display device, a frame covering a display panel is formed by two L-shaped frame members, and two L-shaped frames are connected by screwing (for example, see Patent Document 3). ), Or an L-shaped frame provided with a fitting locking portion having a concave or convex constriction at the end thereof, and the L-shaped frames are fitted and connected to each other to be integrated. (For example, refer to Patent Document 4). In addition, as another conventional liquid crystal display device, a device in which a bezel for supporting and fixing a backlight and a liquid crystal panel is divided into a plurality of support frames to share components and molds is known. (See, for example, Patent Document 5).

However, in the apparatus as shown in Patent Document 2, in the formation of the bezel, two L-shaped component plate materials are punched, and the two L-shaped component plate materials are welded to form a rectangular frame plate material. In addition, a press molding operation for forming the rectangular frame plate material on a rectangular support frame is required, which complicates the work process. In addition, in the devices as disclosed in Patent Documents 3 and 4, the display panel covered with two divided L-shaped frames has only two corners, so the remaining 2 not covered by the L-shaped frame. There was a possibility that the holding strength at the corners of the location would be weak. Further, in an apparatus as disclosed in Patent Document 5, the bezel is divided into four elongated support frames, and only one of the cross sections of the support frame is formed into a U-shape and the other support frame is fitted and coupled. Therefore, there is a possibility that the connection strength of each corner portion becomes weak.

Each of the support frames has a threaded through hole at each end thereof, and the ends of the long support frames of each support frame Short support The liquid crystal display panel is fixed to the housing by overlapping the end portions of the frames so that the positions of the through-holes for the screws are substantially coincided with each other, and by common screwing in the through-holes. .

According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided a rectangular liquid crystal display panel, a backlight of a planar light source that irradiates the liquid crystal display panel from the back surface, a fixing bezel that covers a peripheral edge and a side surface of the surface of the liquid crystal display panel, A liquid crystal display device in which the liquid crystal display panel is fixed to the housing by the bezel, and the bezel has four substantially L-shapes having two right sides. The liquid crystal display panel is fixed to the casing by the L-shaped support frame.

According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the liquid crystal display device according to the second aspect, the L-shaped support frames have substantially the same shape.

According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the liquid crystal display device according to the second and third aspects, each of the L-shaped support frames has screw through holes at both ends thereof, and each of the screw through holes is provided. The liquid crystal display panel is fixed to the casing by superimposing holes at the respective ends and screwing them in common in the through holes.

According to the first aspect of the invention, the parts of the bezel are reduced in size and can be easily processed, and the bezel material in the bezel frame can be used without wasting, so that the number of molds can be increased and the cost can be reduced. It becomes. In addition, by reducing the size of the support frame to an L shape, the possibility that the bezel is distorted and deformed during work or transportation can be reduced. Further, by dividing the support frame into four parts and reducing the size to an L shape, the possibility that the bezel is distorted and deformed during work or transportation can be reduced.

According to the invention of claim 3, since all the L-shaped support frames can be formed in substantially the same shape, the parts can be shared, the number of molds can be reduced, and the cost of the bezel can be reduced.

According to the fourth aspect of the present invention, two L-shaped support frames can be screwed together to the housing by tightening two at a time, so that firm fixation can be achieved without increasing the number of screws.

Hereinafter, a liquid crystal display device according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. A liquid crystal display device 10 according to this embodiment includes a liquid crystal display panel 1 having a rectangular planar shape, a backlight 2 of a planar light source that irradiates the liquid crystal display panel 1 from the back surface, and a peripheral edge and side surfaces of the surface of the liquid crystal display panel 1. A covering bezel 3 and a housing 4 for holding the liquid crystal display panel 1 are provided. Further, between the backlight 2 and the housing 4, there is a reflection sheet 5 that reflects the light of the backlight 2 toward the liquid crystal display panel 1, and the liquid crystal display panel 3 is fixed to the housing 4 by the bezel 3. To do. Further, between the liquid crystal display panel 1 and the backlight 2, there are a diffusion plate 6 and two diffusion sheets 7 and 8 for diffusing the light emitted from the backlight 2 and converting it into a uniform light beam. Laminated in order. In addition, a screw 9 for screwing the bezel 3 to the housing 4 is provided. The screw 9 covers the periphery of the liquid crystal display panel 1 with the screw 9 and is screwed to the housing 4 so that the liquid crystal display panel 1 is Secure to body 4. Thereby, the liquid crystal display panel 1 is irradiated with a light beam emitted from the backlight 2 (usually about 14 to 16), and an image is displayed.

As shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B, the bezel 3 is composed of two sets of support frames 20 and 30 each having four substantially L-shapes each having two substantially right sides. Each of the two right-angled sides of the support frames 20 and 30 is composed of support frames 20a, 20b and 30a, 30b with two sides of the long side and the short side, respectively, and the side sides of the liquid crystal display panel 1 in the longitudinal direction and the short side, respectively. About half the length. As a result, the bezel 3 has a four-part configuration of a substantially L-shaped frame in which each side is divided into two equal parts. In addition, screw through holes 20c and 30c for screwing the housing 4 to the corners of the support frames 20 and 30 and substantially between the long support frames 20a and 30a are provided, respectively. The end portions 22 and 32 of the 30 are provided with screw through holes 25 and 35 (see FIG. 3), respectively. The support frames 20 and 30 are connected to each other between the end portions 22 and 32 shown in the A1 portion and the A2 portion of FIG. 2A by screwing to each other as shown in the A portion shown in FIG. 2B. Become.

As shown in FIGS. 3 (a) and 3 (b), the support frames 20 and 30 have respective main body portions 21 and 31 and end portions 22 (22a and 22b) and 32 (32a and 32b) at both ends. A frame orthogonal to the side surfaces 23 and 33 inside the frames of the support frames 20 and 30 covering the periphery and side surfaces of the surface of the liquid crystal display panel 1 and the upper surface 44 of the frames 41 and 42 of the housing 4 (see FIG. 4). It consists of outer side surfaces 24 and 34. Further, the support frames 20 and 30 are cut into a U-shape at the end portions 22 and 32 so as to be screwed to the housing 4 when viewed from the upper surface thereof, and L-shaped on the back surface side. Folded portions 22a and 22b and bent portions 32a and 32b, which are bent into a mold and separated from each other, are formed, respectively, on the center side and the side of the frame width of each support frame 20a, 20b, 30a, and 30b. Each is arranged. The bent portions 22 a and 32 a are provided with screw through holes 25 and 35 for screwing the support frames 20 and 30 to the frames 41 and 42 of the housing 4. The bent portions 22b and 32b are formed so that the L-shaped bend is deeper than the bent portions 22a and 32a. Thus, when the bent portions 22a and 32a are screwed to the frames 41 and 42 of the housing 4 with the screws 9, the bent portions 22b and 32b are strongly pressed against the housing 4, so that the screws 9 can be made difficult to loosen.

As shown in FIGS. 4A and 4B, the housing 4 has long and short frames 41 and 42 to which the rectangular liquid crystal display panel 1 is attached and screw holes 43 for screwing the bezel 3. Prepare. The support frame 20 of the bezel 3 and the end portions 22 and 32 of the support frame 30 are overlapped on the upper surface 44 of the housing frame 41, and the support frame 30 is mounted first. In addition, on the frame 41, two spacing holding ribs 45 that are parallel to each other at a constant height are provided. Here, the case where the support frames 20 and 30 are attached to the frame 41 is illustrated, but the same configuration is also obtained when the support frames 20 and 30 are attached to the frame 42.

With the above configuration, the connection between the support frames 20 and 30 for the bezel 3 and the housing 4 is performed when the liquid crystal display panel 1 is mounted on the surface 44 of the frames 41 and 42 of the housing 4. The frame 20 is first mounted on the housing 4 and the support frame 30 is mounted thereon. At this time, they are overlapped with each other so that the hole positions of the screw through holes 25 and 35 of the bent portions 22a and 32a of the support frames 20 and 30 substantially coincide with each other. The support frames 20 and 30 are fixed to the housing 4 by screwing the screw holes 9 to the screw holes 43 in the through holes 25 and 35 in common. At this time, the side surface portions 23 and 33 inside the frames of the support frames 20 and 30 press the surface of the end portion of the liquid crystal display panel 1 mounted on the housing 4, whereby the liquid crystal display panel 1 is supported by each support. The frames 20 and 30 and the housing 4 are sandwiched and fixed to the housing 4.

In assembling the liquid crystal display device 10 having the above-described configuration, first, the reflective sheet 5 is mounted on the bottom surface side in the housing 4, and about 14 to 16 backlights 2, diffuser plates 6 and diffuser sheets 7 and 8 are mounted thereon. In order, they are inserted from above the housing 4 and mounted. Then, the liquid crystal display panel 1 is mounted on the upper surface 44. In this state, L-shaped support frames 20 and 30 that form the bezel 3 are sequentially stacked on the housing 4 and arranged so that the through holes 25 and 35 overlap with each other. The through holes 25 and 35 of the parts 22 and 33 are aligned and screwed together. At this time, the distance between the upper surfaces of the support frames 20 and 30 of the bezel 3 and the upper surfaces 41 of the frames 41 and 42 is kept substantially parallel by the interval holding ribs 45 provided on the frames 41 and 42 of the housing 4. The liquid crystal display panel 1 can be sandwiched between the bezel 3 and the housing 4 with uniform and uniform pressure. Thus, by providing the L-shaped support frames 20 and 30, all four corners of the liquid crystal display panel 1 can be securely fixed to the housing 4, and the mounting strength of the liquid crystal display panel 1 can be increased. . Further, since the bezel is divided into four parts, the parts can be made smaller, and the parts can be attached individually, so that the parts can be easily attached. Further, since the through holes 25 and 35 for screw holes are commonly screwed by the screws 9, the support frame can be fixed without increasing the number of screws, and an increase in cost can be suppressed. In addition, even when the weight of the liquid crystal display device is increased, the display panel can be securely fixed, and the mechanical durability against vibration and impact can be further enhanced.

According to the above-described liquid crystal display device 10 according to the present embodiment, the bezel 3 is formed by the L-shaped support frames 20 and 30 obtained by dividing the bezel 3 into four parts, so that the bezel 3 can be processed by a frame-shaped integral mold. Compared with the case of forming, the parts of the bezel 3 are reduced in size, and the parts processing becomes easy. In addition, the mold can be reduced in size and the production equipment can be reduced, and it can be formed by bending or drawing without punching. As a result, the amount of waste material is reduced, and the bezel material in the frame of the bezel 3 can be used without being wasted. Therefore, the number of molds during die processing is increased and the cost can be reduced. In addition, as the size of the liquid crystal display panel 1 is increased, the bezel parts are also increased in size, and there is a high possibility that they will be distorted and deformed during transportation. However, by dividing the bezel 3 into four parts, the parts become smaller and are being transported and worked. Deformation can be reduced. Thereby, fitting with the cabinet in a television receiver etc. can be improved. In addition, the bezel 3 configured by the L-shaped support frames 20 and 30 is configured by two orthogonal sides, and the four corners of the liquid crystal display panel 1 are fixed by the independent support frames 20 and 30. Since the tightening strength can be increased and the liquid crystal display panel 1 can be securely held firmly, the liquid crystal display panel 1 can be prevented from dropping from the housing 4. As a result, the liquid crystal display device 10 having a low-cost and highly reliable bezel can be realized.

Also, by providing two parallel spacing ribs on the frame of the housing, this rib is placed against the inside of the bezel, and the gap between the bezel and the liquid crystal display panel is constant. Can be kept in. Thereby, since the liquid crystal display panel can be kept flat, light leakage is reduced and a bright and stable display is possible.

The present invention is not limited to the above embodiment, and various modifications can be made. In the above embodiment, the L-shaped support frame is formed by two long and short sides. However, these two sides can be formed with equal dimensions. Further, although the support frame is formed in a rectangular shape, it can be further strengthened by forming a curved portion in a corner or the like.
