【解決手段】微粒子を含む被処理液と接触する光により励起する物質と、前記光により励起する物質に励起光を照射して前記光により励起する物質の表面に親水性基を形成させる光照射装置と、を具備する。

Description
図1は本発明の第1の実施形態に係る微粒子の凝集装置1を軸方向に切断した断面図である。図1では、被処理液の流れる方向を矢印で示している。
窓3は、光照射装置2から照射された光を透過するもので、透過された光は光触媒5に照射される。窓3は、光透過性材料であれば特に限定されないが、例えば、石英ガラス、サファイア、シリカゲル、アルミナセラミックス等の無機系の材料が好ましい。
光触媒5は、既に知られた種々の方法によって、担体4の表面に形成することができる。最も一般的な方法は、光触媒5のコロイド(ゾル)を担体4表面に薄く塗布し、或いは電気泳動法によって沈着させ、次いで焼成する方法である。この方法によれば、十分に小さな光触媒5微粒子を表面に付着させることができ、しかも、担体4に強固に被着させることができる。また、真空蒸着法、或いは気相反応による化学的析出法(気相成長法)によっても、膜を形成することができる。
なお、担体4と捕集用フィルター6とを別個に設けずに一つのフィルターとし、フィルターの上流側に光触媒5を担持させて被処理液中の微粒子を凝集させ、フィルターの下流側で凝集した微粒子を捕集するようにしてもよい。
また、捕集用フィルターを用いずに、遠心分離装置、沈降分離装置等を用いて微粒子の凝集体であるコロイド粒子を被処理液中から分離除去してもよい。
図4は、本発明の第2の実施形態に係る微粒子の凝集装置10を軸方向に切断した断面図である。図1に共通する部分には同一符号を付し、重複する説明を省略する。
なお、タービン等の排熱等により生じた高温の蒸気を必要に応じて加圧して、所定の温度の液体状態の被処理液を得てもよい。
図5は、本発明の第3の実施形態に係る微粒子の凝集装置20を軸方向に切断した断面図である。図1、図2に共通する部分には同一符号を付し、重複する説明を省略する。
担体4、捕集用フィルター6の材料としては、耐熱性の観点から、例えば、ポリエチレンテレフタラート、ステンレス鋼等の金属等が好ましい。
光照射装置2に紫外線照射装置例えばブラックライト、窓3に石英ガラス、担体4に孔径1.0μmのガラス製フィルター、光触媒5に酸化チタン(TiO2)、捕集用フィルター6に孔径0.45μmのフィルターを使用し、図1に示す微粒子の凝集装置1を用いて、10ppmのTiO2微粒子を含む水の通水試験を実施した。水中のTiO2微粒子は非常に微細な8〜15nmのものを用いた。試験は室温25℃、線速度1m/hで実施した。ブラックライトにより紫外線強度5mW/cm2でTiO2の光触媒5に紫外線照射を行った場合と、紫外線照射を行わなかった場合それぞれについての微粒子の除去効果を調べた。得られた結果を図6に示す。
光触媒5に酸化亜鉛(ZnO)、担体4にポリエステル製フィルターを用いた以外は、実施例1と同様にして微粒子の除去効果を調べた。なお、酸化亜鉛はアナターゼ型の酸化チタンと同様にn型半導体であり、バンドギャップエネルギーも同様に3.2eVであるため、実施例1と同じブラックライトにより紫外線を照射した。得られた結果を図7に示す。
担体4に孔径1.0μmのポリエチレンテレフタレート(PTFE)製フィルター、光および/または熱により励起する物質である光触媒5に酸化チタン(TiO2)、捕集用フィルター6に孔径0.45μmのフィルターを使用し、図4に示す微粒子の凝集装置10を用いて、10ppmTiO2微粒子を含む水の通水試験を実施した。被処理水中のTiO2微粒子は非常に微細な8〜15nmのものを用いた。試験は線速度1m/hで実施され、TiO2微粒子を含む被処理水の圧力を5.0MPa、温度をそれぞれ25℃、50℃、100℃、200℃にして、TiO2微粒子を含む被処理水の各温度における微粒子の除去効果をそれぞれ調べた。なお、本実施例では紫外線を照射していない。微粒子の凝集装置10による処理後の処理水中のTiO2微粒子の濃度を蛍光X線分析装置により測定し、下記の式(1)から、4種類の温度によって処理された処理水それぞれについて、TiO2微粒子の除去効果を示す除染係数DFを算出した。得られた結果を図8に示す。
以上から、光エネルギーの代わりに熱エネルギーを用いても、被処理液中の1μm以下の微粒子を凝集させることが可能であり、捕集用フィルター等により被処理液中の不純物微粒子を分離除去できることが認められた。
担体4として酸化被膜の形成された孔径1.0μmのステンレス鋼フィルターを用い、TiO2微粒子を含む被処理水を280℃に加熱した以外は、実施例3と同様にして微粒子の除去効果を調べた。
図9に示すようにn型半導体の性質を持つ酸化被膜22、p型半導体の性質を持つ酸化被膜22の上にそれぞれTiO2の光触媒5を担持させた。
その理由は、以下のように考えられる。光触媒5は、そのバンドギャップ以上のエネルギー(例えば、熱エネルギー)を吸収すると励起された電子と正孔を生成する。親水性、すなわち、光触媒5表面のOH基の増加に寄与しているのは、正孔であると考えられている(光触媒のすべて 橋本和仁 藤島昭監修 工業調査会 41〜42ページ)。n型半導体であるTiO2の光触媒5とp型半導体の性質を持つ酸化被膜22(マグネタイト酸化被膜、Fe3O4)が接合されると、その接合部近傍では、励起された電子はp型半導体に移動し、生成した正孔はn型半導体に移動し、電子と正孔の再結合が抑制されるため、光触媒5表面の親水性増加に寄与すると考えられる。
担体4としてTi金属フィルター、光触媒5としてTi金属フィルターの表面に生成させた薄膜の酸化チタン膜を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様にして微粒子の除去効果を調べた。
比較のため、陽極酸化処理を行っておらず酸化チタン膜の形成されていないTi金属フィルターのみについても、同様に微粒子の除去効果を調べた。
Claims (15)
- 微粒子を含む被処理液と接触する光により励起する物質と、
前記光により励起する物質に励起光を照射して前記光により励起する物質の表面に親水性基を形成させる光照射装置と、
を具備することを特徴とする微粒子の凝集装置。 - 微粒子を含む被処理液を液体状態で100℃以上に加熱する加熱手段と、
前記加熱手段により加熱された前記被処理液と接触する光または熱により励起する物質と、
を具備することを特徴とする微粒子の凝集装置。 - 前記光または熱により励起する物質に励起光を照射して前記光または熱により励起する物質の表面に親水性基を形成させる光照射装置をさらに具備することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の微粒子の凝集装置。
- 前記被処理液は、OH基を有することを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の微粒子の凝集装置。
- 前記光または熱により励起する物質は、担体に担持されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項に記載の微粒子の凝集装置。
- 前記担体が中空糸フィルター、面フィルター、又は多孔性フィルターであることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の微粒子の凝集装置。
- 前記光または熱により励起する物質が、半導体であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載の微粒子の凝集装置。
- 前記光または熱により励起する物質と接触させた前記被処理液中の微粒子が凝集して形成されたコロイド粒子を、捕集する捕集フィルターをさらに具備することを特徴とする請求項1乃至7のいずれか1項に記載の微粒子の凝集装置。
- 光により励起する物質に励起光を照射しつつ前記光により励起する物質と微粒子を含む被処理液を接触させて、前記被処理液中の微粒子を凝集させることを特徴とする微粒子の凝集方法。
- 微粒子を含む被処理液を液体状態で100℃以上に加熱し、この加熱した前記被処理液を光または熱により励起する物質に接触させて、前記被処理液中の微粒子を凝集させることを特徴とする微粒子の凝集方法。
- 前記光または熱により励起する物質にさらに励起光を照射することを特徴とする請求項10に記載の微粒子の凝集方法。
- 前記被処理液は、OH基を有することを特徴とする請求項9乃至11のいずれか1項に記載の微粒子の凝集方法。
- 前記光または熱により励起する物質は、担体に担持されていることを特徴とする請求項9乃至12のいずれか1項に記載の微粒子の凝集方法。
- 前記担体が中空糸フィルター、面フィルター、又は多孔性フィルターであることを特徴とする請求項13に記載の微粒子の凝集方法。
- 前記光または熱により励起する物質と接触させた前記被処理液中の微粒子が凝集して形成されたコロイド粒子を、さらに捕集することを特徴とする請求項9乃至14のいずれか1項に記載の微粒子の凝集方法。
