Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a light source device, a display device having the light source device, and a method for manufacturing the light source device.
In recent years, in a display device such as a liquid crystal display (LCD-TV), an optical device having a liquid crystal element or the like is provided with a light source device serving as a backlight on the back surface, thereby widening the color gamut. Improvement of optical characteristics is achieved.
As a light source device in this backlight configuration, a light source by an LED (Laser Emitting Diode) corresponding to two to three colors among three colors of red, green, and blue (RGB) is used as a pixel of the display device. Correspondingly, a light source device provided is known (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
However, in order to simultaneously control light emitters having different material properties and specifications depending on the oscillation wavelength, such as LEDs, a different control system is required for each light emitter.
For example, in the case of an LED, it is necessary to provide not only light emission control with different operating voltages depending on its material properties but also a control system such as a control circuit, and the specification, that is, the configuration becomes complicated.
In addition, a plurality of types of light sources having different light emission characteristics have a difference in temperature dependency of light emission intensity, for example, as shown in FIGS. 10A and 10B, even if appropriate light emission is achieved at a predetermined temperature, When the temperature of the operating environment or the like changes, the light output also changes, causing a so-called color shift (partly reproduced from the homepage of LUMILEDS).
Therefore, in the light source device having this configuration, in order to avoid color misregistration, a color correction member, such as a sensor or a correction circuit, is required to cope with a temperature change, leading to an increase in cost. .
On the other hand, a light source device that partially uses light from one blue light source as excitation light of a phosphor (green and red) having a main emission wavelength band on the long wavelength side compared to the blue light source, liquid crystal, etc. Has been proposed (see, for example, Patent Document 2).
For a light source device using a combination of a light source and a plurality of phosphors as in this display device, these pixels corresponding to different emission wavelength bands are provided apart from each other, or a black matrix is arranged between the pixels. A structure in which leakage of light emission in each pixel is suppressed by a technique is known (see, for example, Patent Document 3).
However, the decrease in color purity also occurs, for example, when light from a light source introduced into the fluorescent part is transmitted and output as it is without contributing to excitation of the phosphor. Even in the configuration in which the leakage of light is suppressed, it is necessary to provide a color filter as long as color purity is pursued. Therefore, there is a demand for a light source device having a light guide unit output surface and a fluorescent unit that exhibit optimal optical characteristics for a color filter.
In addition, the pixel configuration that directly outputs part of the light from the light source has a problem of complexity in the manufacturing process.
The present invention has been made in view of such problems, and the object thereof is to provide a light source device having high luminance and a method for manufacturing the same while avoiding complicated manufacturing, and a display constituted by the light source device. And the output light is output from the light guide only through at least one of the first fluorescent part and the second fluorescent part.
The manufacturing method of the light source device according to the present invention includes at least a light source, a first fluorescent part by a first phosphor having a light emission wavelength band that is mainly on a longer wavelength side than the light source, and the first phosphor. And defining the optical path of the output light obtained from each of the second fluorescent part by the second fluorescent substance having the main emission wavelength band on the long wavelength side, and the light source, the first fluorescent substance, and the second fluorescent substance. According to the light source device of the present invention, at least a light source, a first fluorescent part by the first phosphor, a second fluorescent part by the second phosphor, and a light guide having an output surface that defines an optical path of output light. Since the output light is output only through at least one of the first fluorescent part and the second fluorescent part, high luminance can be obtained without requiring complicated specifications.
The display device according to the present invention includes a light source device, a diffusion sheet and an optical device provided on the front surface side of the light source device, and a reflector provided on the back surface side of the light source device, and the light source device is at least A light source, a first fluorescent part by the first phosphor, a second fluorescent part by the second phosphor, and a light guide part having an output surface that defines an optical path of the output light. Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
<First Embodiment>
A light source device and a display device according to a first embodiment of the present invention will be described.
In the present embodiment, a so-called edge light type (side light type) light source device in which a light source is arranged in a direction constituting a side surface as viewed from the output surface of the light guide unit will be described as an example.

FIG. 3A and FIG. 3B show the temperature dependence (temperature quenching characteristics) of the brightness of the sulfide phosphors of the first phosphor SrGa2S4: Eu and the second phosphor CaS: Eu in the present embodiment.
In general, the LED operating temperature is about 90 ° C. regardless of the emission wavelength band (common to RGB), but in the structure of the light source device according to the present embodiment, green light and red light are obtained by a phosphor material. Therefore, not only is temperature quenching difficult to occur, but the first and second phosphors are provided away from a heat source such as a blue light source, so the degree of temperature quenching is reduced.
In a conventional red LED (emission center wavelength: 627 nm), when the temperature rises from 20 ° C. to 80 ° C., the luminance gradually decreases and decreases to 52% of the initial luminance. The degree of temperature quenching of the red phosphor is reduced compared to that in the conventional red LED. In addition, since blue LED is hard to produce temperature quenching compared with red LED, according to the light source device which concerns on this embodiment, the durability improvement as the whole display apparatus is also aimed at.
4A and 4B show the measurement results of the white light emission spectrum in the
The three types of filters constituting the color filter, the blue filter (B-CF), the green filter (G-CF), and the red filter (R-CF), are in the wavelength band where each transmittance is high (that is, Each peak corresponding to RGB of the white emission spectrum is located at the peak position), and it can be seen that higher luminance can be obtained for each color in relation to the color filter in the optical device 4. Further, it can be read from the light intensity of each of the three colors RGB and the corresponding transmittance characteristics of each filter that the green output is particularly low compared to blue and red. : G: B≈3: 6: 1 Since the output is selected, according to the display device configuration according to the present embodiment, the light output without deviation among the three colors of RGB is obtained. It is thought that it is obtained.
In addition, in the case of the conventional configuration (configuration in which each RGB light is obtained directly from the white CCFL), not only the wavelength corresponding to the peak position of each color filter, but also light emission centered on, for example, 488 nm and 582 nm occurs. The emission center wavelengths of green light and red light are 543 nm and 611 nm, and the color purity becomes shallower than the emission center wavelengths (green light 534 nm, red light 654 nm) in the light source device according to this embodiment. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the amount of each RGB light is smaller than that in the configuration of the present invention.
From this result, in the
In such a
In the light source device according to the present embodiment, RGB primary colors having chromaticities as shown in [Table 1] could be obtained. Regarding this result, the color reproduction range is 90% when calculated by the NTSC ratio, and high characteristics are obtained compared to the color reproduction range (NTSC ratio 75%) in the conventional configuration in which three primary colors of RGB are obtained by using only the CCFL light source. It was also confirmed that.
Further, in the light source device according to the present embodiment, output light of three colors of RGB is output from the output surface of the light guide only through at least one of the first
That is, in the display device according to the present embodiment, the first
In addition, when the first
Furthermore, the refractive index of the resin used to disperse each phosphor constituting the first
In the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 5A, in the
Further, as shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B, the first
In addition, a CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) can be used as a light source capable of outputting light in the blue range, but the CCFL configuration itself occupies a large space, so it is portable. In the case of configuring a small device such as a telephone, the configuration described in this embodiment is considered to be more preferable.
<Second Embodiment>
A light source device and a display device according to a second embodiment of the present invention will be described.
In the present embodiment, a so-called direct-type light source device in which a light source is arranged on the side constituting the back surface as viewed from the output surface of the light guide unit will be described as an example.

In the present embodiment, the multiple blue
In addition, SrGa 2 S 4 : Eu is also used in the present embodiment for the first phosphor constituting the
In addition, CaS: Eu is also used in the present embodiment for the second phosphor constituting the
Also in the
Also in this embodiment, since the first phosphor and the second phosphor are provided away from a heat source such as a blue light source, the degree of temperature quenching is reduced. That is, the temperature on the CCFL is generally around 60 ° C. where the efficiency of Hg light emission is good. Therefore, the temperature quenching of the phosphor by the blue
Also in the display device 11 according to the present embodiment, appropriate light output from the
Also in the
Also in the
That is, in the display device 11 according to the present embodiment, the first
Also in the display device 11 having the
Furthermore, also in this embodiment, the refractive index of the resin used to disperse each phosphor constituting the first
In the present embodiment, in addition to the configuration shown in FIG. 7, the
Further, as shown in FIG. 8B, the first
In the present embodiment, the blue
As mentioned above, although the embodiment of the light source device and the display device according to the present invention has been described together with the embodiment of the method for manufacturing the light source device, the light source device, the display device and the method for manufacturing the light source device according to the present invention are described in this embodiment. It is not limited to the form.
For example, in the first and second embodiments described above, an example in which the light source is a blue light source has been described. However, the light source has a light emitter that outputs short wavelength light below the violet range or light including the same, And it can also be set as the structure which has the function to convert the light of this short wavelength range into blue light.
In addition, it is thought that it is more preferable to obtain blue light directly as in the present embodiment because there is little deterioration of the light guide plate, resin, and the like, and a decrease in light output efficiency due to absorption can be avoided.
Further, the illuminant constituting the blue light source is not limited to the LED made of inorganic crystals, but can be constituted by an organic LED or LD (laser diode).
Further, the formation of the first and second phosphor parts in the manufacture of the light source device described above can be performed by a so-called printing method, particularly when the first phosphor part and the second phosphor part are adjacent to each other. Although it can obtain by two application | coating (printing) according to each fluorescent substance part, for example, it is not restricted to this.
Moreover, in the light source device described above, the light guide unit enables desired mixing of, for example, green light and red light, and the green light from the first phosphor by the second phosphor described above. While it is possible to obtain a desired color mixture while avoiding absorption, in particular, the first phosphor portion and the second phosphor portion each have a width of, for example, 50 μm or more (preferably 100 μm) alternately. By being provided (for example, in a lattice shape), desired mixing can be performed together with the diffusion effect inside the light guide due to the presence of the light guide. The upper limit value of the width of the
In the first and second embodiments described above, the example in which the black matrix is provided in the optical device constituting the display device has been described. However, the first phosphor (Sr 1-xy Ca x ) that emits green light is described. Since Ba y ) Ga 2 S 4 : Eu is colored green and the second phosphor emitting red (SrGa 2 S 4 : Eu) is colored red, the first phosphor (G) shown in FIG. Also from the measurement results of the reflectance of the second phosphor (R), it can be seen that the reflectance in the red region from the first phosphor and the reflectance in the green region from the second phosphor can be kept low.
Therefore, in the display device according to the present invention, by selecting a phosphor having such reflectance characteristics and configuring the light source device, it is possible not only to avoid the necessity of providing a black matrix in the light source device, but also to optically. It is possible to avoid the necessity of providing the black matrix in the entire display device including the device, and to achieve a simpler device configuration.
Since the black matrix is provided not in the light source device but in the optical device, it can be arranged closer to the viewer (observer) using the display device than in the case where it is provided in the light source device. In addition, the light from the phosphor in the light source device can be prevented from being attenuated, and the light is reflected and scattered between the output surface and the optical device to reach the color filter. An increase is also planned.
In the display device according to the present invention, one of the first fluorescent part and the second fluorescent part is located at a position facing the light source with respect to the light guide part, and the other is located between the light guide part and the light source. Also, it is possible to adopt a configuration in which each is provided.
Furthermore, for the first phosphor and the second phosphor, (Sr 1-xy Ca x Ba y) Ga 2 S 4: Eu and SrGa 2 S 4: not limited to Eu, a preferred light-emitting centers of respective phosphors described above As long as it is suitable for at least one of the wavelength and the emission wavelength band, for example, a first phosphor that emits green light can be a β-sialon activated with a rare earth element such as Eu, As the second phosphor to be emitted, a phosphor obtained by activating a rare earth element such as Eu to α sialon, or a nitride phosphor such as CaAlSiN3: Eu or M2Si5N8: Eu (M = Ca, Sr, Ba) can be used. Various modifications and changes can be made.
