Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, a facsimile machine, or a printer. More specifically, the present invention relates to a means for transmitting a rotational driving force from a common rotational driving source to a latent image carrier and a developer carrier. It is about improvement.
Conventionally, as this type of image forming apparatus, for example, the one described in Patent Document 1 is known. In this image forming apparatus, the rotational driving force of a driving motor as a rotational driving source is transmitted to a photosensitive member as a latent image carrier, and then transmitted to a developing roller as a developer carrier via a gear of the photosensitive member. In such a configuration, it is possible to reduce the cost and size by sharing the drive motor between the photoconductor and the developing roller.
However, depending on the layout in the image forming apparatus, it may be advantageous for downsizing or the like to adopt the following method instead of the method of transmitting the rotational driving force of the drive motor from the photosensitive member to the developing roller. . That is, this is a system that separates drive transmission from the drive motor to the photosensitive member and drive transmission from the drive motor to the developing roller.
Accordingly, the present inventors provide a photosensitive gear for transmitting drive to the photosensitive member and a developing gear for transmitting drive to the developing roller, respectively, with respect to the driving gear fixed to the rotating shaft of the drive motor. An image forming apparatus designed to mesh is under development. In such a configuration, the drive motor is shared between the photoconductor and the developing roller, and the drive transmission from the drive motor to the photoconductor and the drive transmission from the drive motor to the developing roller are performed while reducing cost and size. Can be divided.
However, the image forming apparatus under development may not be able to supply a sufficient amount of developer to the photosensitive member for the reason described below. That is, in recent image forming apparatuses, image density unevenness due to the reaction of gear meshing has greatly affected image quality as the image quality is improved. For this reason, the number of gears from the drive motor to the photoconductor is reduced as much as possible, or the surface movement amount of the photoconductor per tooth mesh is made as small as possible by downsizing the gear to reduce image density unevenness. Is desired. Therefore, in the image forming apparatus under development, the number of gears from the drive motor to the photosensitive member is only two, that is, the driving gear and the photosensitive member gear, and a module of these gears (reference pitch / π). Is as small as 0.3. Assume that the developing gear meshing with the driving gear and the modules of various gears for transmitting the driving toward the developing roller on the downstream side are made smaller in accordance with the driving gear and the photoconductor gear. As a result, the rotation speed of the developing roller becomes insufficient, and a sufficient amount of developer cannot be supplied to the photoreceptor.
Therefore, the present inventors manufactured a printer testing machine adopting the following configuration. That is, as the developing gear, a first gear portion that meshes with the driving gear and a second gear portion that is a larger module and rotates on the same rotational axis as the first gear portion are used. It is the structure which mesh | engaged the part with the gear of the drive transmission direction downstream. In such a configuration, the module of the second gear portion for transmitting drive to the downstream gear is made larger than the small first gear portion of the module that meshes with the driving gear. As a result, the developing roller can be driven at a sufficiently high linear velocity to supply a sufficient amount of developer to the photosensitive member.
However, in this printer testing machine, the developing gear is damaged in a short period of time, and the durability that can be put into practical use cannot be exhibited. The present inventors have conducted intensive research on the cause, and have found the following. That is, in the printer testing machine, a considerable number of gears are engaged in order to transmit the rotational driving force to other rotating members such as a developer stirring screw in the developing device in addition to the developing roller. Of these gears, the relay gear that transmits the rotational driving force from the upstream gear to the downstream gear is generally reduced in cost by using a sliding method that does not require a bearing. Therefore, the developing gear functioning as a relay gear and some relay gears on the downstream side of the developing gear are of a sliding type. The sliding system is a system in which a gear is engaged with a fixed shaft so as to be able to slide and rotate, and is slid and rotated on a rotating shaft. Such a sliding type development gear needs to use a material having a relatively small coefficient of friction, such as polyacetal resin, so that good sliding rotation on a fixed shaft is possible. Will be relatively low. Nevertheless, since the first gear portion of the developing gear was made into a very small module of 0.3 for meshing with the driving gear, it was not possible to demonstrate the durability that could be put to practical use. is there. Further, the developing gear group is provided with a clutch for connecting / disconnecting the drive transmission to turn off the driving to the rotating member such as the developing roller as necessary. The damage of one gear part was promoted.
In the image forming apparatus under development, not only the developing gear meshing with the driving gear but also all the other gears in the developing gear group have relatively low bending strength and hardness made of polyacetal resin or the like. In such a configuration, if an attempt is made to improve durability by using a developing gear having relatively high bending strength and hardness, this time, the wear of the downstream gear meshing with the second gear portion of the developing gear is promoted. A new problem will occur.

In these inventions, the latent image gear for transmitting the rotational driving force toward the latent image carrier and the developing gear for transmitting the rotational driving force toward the developer carrier are individually meshed with the driving gear.

The result of detecting the magnetic permeability of the Y developer by the toner concentration sensor 9Y is sent as a voltage signal to a control unit (not shown). Since the magnetic permeability of the Y developer has a correlation with the Y toner concentration of the Y developer, the toner concentration sensor 9Y outputs a voltage having a value corresponding to the Y toner concentration. The control unit includes a RAM, in which a V Vref for Y that is a target value of the output voltage from the toner density sensor 9Y and a toner density sensor for C, M, and K mounted in another developing device. The data of C Vtref, M Vtref, and K Vtref, which are target values of the output voltage, are stored. For the developing
The Y toner image formed on the photoreceptor 2Y as a latent image carrier is intermediately transferred to an intermediate transfer belt described later. The

A registration roller pair 35 is disposed at the end of the paper feed path 33. The registration roller pair 35 temporarily stops the rotation of both rollers as soon as the transfer paper P sent from the transport roller pair 34 is sandwiched between the rollers. Then, the transfer paper P is sent out toward a later-described secondary transfer nip at an appropriate timing.
Above each of the process units 1Y, 1C, 1M, and 1K, a transfer unit 40 that is endlessly moved counterclockwise in the drawing while an intermediate transfer belt 41 that is an intermediate transfer member is stretched is disposed. In addition to the intermediate transfer belt 40, the transfer unit 40 serving as transfer means includes a belt cleaning device 42, a first bracket 43, a second bracket 44, and the like. Further, four primary transfer rollers 45Y, 45C, 45M, 45K, a secondary transfer backup roller 46, a drive roller 47, an auxiliary roller 48, a tension roller 49, and the like are also provided. The intermediate transfer belt 41 is endlessly moved counterclockwise in the figure by the rotational driving of the driving roller 47 while being stretched by these eight rollers. The four primary transfer rollers 45Y, 45C, 45C, 45M, 45K, and 45K sandwich the intermediate transfer belt 41 that is moved endlessly in this manner from the photoreceptors 2Y, 2C, 2M, and 2K, thereby forming primary transfer nips. ing. Then, a transfer bias having a polarity opposite to that of the toner (for example, plus) is applied to the back surface (loop inner peripheral surface) of the intermediate transfer belt 41. The intermediate transfer belt 41 sequentially passes through the primary transfer nips for Y, C, M, and K along with the endless movement thereof, and on the surface of the photoreceptor 2Y, C, M, K on the front surface. The Y, C, M, and K toner images are superimposed and primarily transferred. As a result, a four-color superimposed toner image (hereinafter referred to as a four-color toner image) is formed on the intermediate transfer belt 41.
The secondary transfer backup roller 46 sandwiches the intermediate transfer belt 41 with the secondary transfer roller 50 disposed outside the loop of the intermediate transfer belt 41 to form a secondary transfer nip. The registration roller pair 35 described above sends the transfer paper P sandwiched between the rollers toward the secondary transfer nip at a timing at which the transfer paper P can be synchronized with the four-color toner image on the intermediate transfer belt 41. The four-color toner image on the intermediate transfer belt 41 is affected by the secondary transfer electric field formed between the secondary transfer roller 50 to which the secondary transfer bias is applied and the secondary transfer backup roller 46, and the influence of the nip pressure. The secondary transfer is batch-transferred onto the transfer paper P in the secondary transfer nip. Then, combined with the white color of the transfer paper P, a full color toner image is obtained.
Transfer residual toner that has not been transferred to the transfer paper P adheres to the intermediate transfer belt 41 after passing through the secondary transfer nip. This is cleaned by the belt cleaning device 42.
A fixing device 60 including a pressure roller 61 and a fixing belt unit 62 is disposed above the secondary transfer nip in the drawing. The fixing belt unit 62 of the fixing device 60 moves the fixing belt 64 endlessly in the counterclockwise direction in the drawing while being stretched by the heating roller 63, the tension roller 65, and the driving
The transfer paper P that has passed through the secondary transfer nip is separated from the intermediate transfer belt 41 and then fed into the fixing device 60. Then, in the process of being conveyed from the lower side to the upper side in the figure while being sandwiched by the fixing nip, the full-color toner image is fixed by being heated or pressed by the fixing belt 64.

On the left side of the clutch output gears 128Y, C, M, and K, second relay gears 129Y, 129Y, C, M, and K that are slidably rotated while being engaged with a fixed shaft (not shown) are disposed. It rotates while meshing with the clutch output gear 128Y, C, M, K.
As described above, on the printer body side, the following drive transmission system is configured to correspond to each of the four process units. That is, the drive motor 120 → the driving gear 121 → the

Thus, in this printer, the driving gear 121, the developing
FIG. 10 is a perspective view showing the Y photoconductor gear 133Y and the surrounding configuration. In the figure, the
The
In this printer, the diameter of the photosensitive member is 40 [mm]. Since the number of teeth of the photoconductor gear is 330 [pieces] as shown in Table 2, the image pitch in the latent image gear group is 40 [mm] × π / 330 = 0.38 [mm].
The driving gear 121 is made of metal (S45C or SUS430). Further, as the photoconductor gear 133, one made of polyacetal resin is used.
[First experiment]
The inventors have prepared a printer tester having the same configuration as the printer described above. In addition, as the driving gear 121 and the photoreceptor gear 133 for each color, five types of modules in which the modules were adjusted to 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, and 0.6 were prepared. Further, the developing
[Second experiment]
Next, in order to reproduce similar operating conditions at the time of actual printout, the present inventors turn on and off the developing clutch 127 for each color at predetermined time intervals, and perform the same operation as in the first experiment. The developing device was driven and the endurance time of the developing
[Third experiment]
A developing
Hypersite A2000 has a standard bending strength of 250 [MPa], which is higher than that of polyacetal resin. The
As the developing
In place of the hypersite A2000, a
From these facts, the

Therefore, the printer according to the embodiment has the module 0.3 used in the third experiment as the developing
Next, a printer according to an example in which a more characteristic configuration is added to the printer according to the embodiment will be described.
FIG. 15 is an exploded perspective view showing the developing
In such a configuration, the
As shown in FIG. 16 above, cushion members 124b made of an elastic material such as rubber or foamed resin are fixed to one of the four
Next, a printer according to a second embodiment to which the invention is applied will be described. Unless otherwise specified, the configuration of the printer according to the second embodiment is the same as that of the first embodiment.
FIG. 17 is a perspective view showing a
On the other hand, unlike the first embodiment, the
In this printer having such a configuration, the module of the first gear portion D in the driving gear 121 is made smaller than the second gear portion E, so that the photoconductor gear meshing with the first gear portion D can be made smaller and the image density can be reduced. Unevenness can be suppressed. On the other hand, the second gear portion E of the driving gear is made of a polyacetal resin having a hardness lower than that of the first gear portion D, so that the developing
So far, the printer that forms a color image by the process unit for each color has been described. However, the present invention can also be applied to an image forming apparatus that forms only a single color image.
As described above, in the printer according to the first embodiment, the
In the printer according to the embodiment, the developing
