Abstract
【解決手段】液晶表示装置11のバックライト制御回路は、入力映像信号の表示開始位置から黒部を検出して上部のレターボックス部に対応する光源BL1,BL2の調光レベルを下げ、入力映像信号の映像表示部を検出して映像表示部に対応する光源BL3,BL4,BL5の調光レベルを通常の調光レベルとし、入力映像信号の黒部から表示終了位置を検出して下部のレターボックス部に対応する光源BL6,BL7の調光レベルを下げる。

Claims (6)
- 入力映像信号に応じて液晶表示パネルに映像を表示する液晶表示装置であって、前記液晶表示パネルを表示裏面側から照明する複数の光源を有するバックライトと、前記複数の光源を個々に駆動制御するバックライト制御回路とを備え、前記バックライト制御回路は、前記入力映像信号に応じて前記複数の光源個々の輝度を制御することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
- 前記バックライト制御回路は、前記入力映像信号の輝度レベル及び輝度分布を検出し、この検出した輝度レベル及び輝度分布に応じて前記複数の光源個々の輝度を制御することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数の光源は複数の冷陰極管であって、前記バックライト制御回路は、前記入力映像信号の輝度レベル及び輝度分布を検出し、この検出した輝度レベル及び輝度分布に応じて前記複数の冷陰極管個々の輝度を制御することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数の光源は複数の発光ダイオードであって、前記バックライト制御回路は、前記入力映像信号の輝度レベル及び輝度分布を検出し、この検出した輝度レベル及び輝度分布に応じて前記複数の発光ダイオード個々の輝度を制御することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数の光源は複数の冷陰極管であって、前記バックライト制御回路は、前記入力映像信号の輝度レベル及び輝度分布を検出し、この検出した輝度レベル及び輝度分布の特定領域に暗部または明部の偏りがある場合、暗部領域に対応する冷陰極管の輝度をより暗く制御し、明部領域に対応する冷陰極管の輝度をより明るく制御することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数の光源は複数の発光ダイオードであって、前記バックライト制御回路は、前記入力映像信号の輝度レベル及び輝度分布を検出し、この検出した輝度レベル及び輝度分布の特定領域に暗部または明部の偏りがある場合、暗部領域に対応する発光ダイオードの輝度をより暗く制御し、明部領域に対応する発光ダイオードの輝度をより明るく制御することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
