第2群の発明における母材を形成する透明な金属化合物は、屈折率が塗膜主材の屈折率より0.9以上大きい必要があり、それを満たせば特に限定されないのであるが、それを満たしやすいものとしてTiO2、Fe23、CeO、ZrO等の金属酸化物や、ZnS等を例示的できる。これらの各材料の屈折率を次の表1に示す。
