Description

The present invention relates to a cable connector, and more particularly to a balanced transmission cable connector used for connection between a computer and a server.

As a data transmission method, a normal transmission method using one electric wire for each data, and two signals that form a pair for each data, and a + signal to be transmitted and this + signal are There is a balanced transmission system when signals of equal and opposite directions are transmitted simultaneously. The balanced transmission system has an advantage that it is less susceptible to noise than a normal transmission system, and is being increasingly adopted for data transmission between a computer, a server and data.

As shown in FIG. 1 (A), the server 1 has a configuration in which the connector 3 is arranged on the back 2 side in a vertically long direction, and is usually arranged with the back 2 facing the wall 5 of the room. It is.

FIG. 2 shows a conventional balanced transmission cable connector 10. X1-X2 is the width direction of the cable connector 110, Z1-Z2 is the thickness direction, and Y1-Y2 is the longitudinal direction, that is, the insertion / extraction direction. Y1 is the tip side, and Y2 is the back side. In the cable connector 10, the contact assembly 11 is incorporated on the distal end side of the shield cover assembly 12, the latch members 13 are incorporated on both sides of the distal end side of the shield cover assembly 12, and the balanced transmission cable 20 is shielded. JP 2003-217715 A

As shown in FIG. 1A, in a state where the cable connector 10 is connected to the connector 3 on the back surface 2 side of the server 1, the balanced transmission cable 20 exits from the cable connector 10 in the horizontal direction, and thereafter, by its own weight or the like. Curved downward and heading towards the floor. Since the cable 20 has the curved portion 21 in this way, the width S1 of the space 6 between the server 1 and the room wall 5 is reduced, that is, the server 1 is installed close to the room wall 5. It was difficult to do. Further, since the radius of curvature of the curved portion 21 varies depending on the type of cable, it is difficult to grasp the space 6, which hinders the user from planning to place the server in the room.

Further, since the pull tab 15 performs an operation of pulling backward from the server 1, a space for operating the pull tab 15 is required on the back side of the server 1. This also makes it difficult to install the server 1 close to the wall 5 of the room.

Then, an object of this invention is to provide the cable connector made | formed in view of said point.

Therefore, according to the present invention, a contact assembly having a contact is incorporated on the front end side of the shield cover assembly, a cable connected to the contact assembly extends from the shield cover assembly, and the shield A cable connector having a structure in which a latch claw member is attached to the cover assembly and a latch release member that is operated to move the latch claw member in a latch release direction is provided in the shield cover assembly.
The shield cover assembly has a cable outlet on its side surface, and the cable extends from the side surface of the shield cover assembly,
The latch release member has an operation portion to be operated and an action portion acting on the latch claw member, and the latch release operation portion incorporates the contact assembly of the shield cover assembly. It is the structure which has been arrange | positioned in the site | part between a position and the position where the said cable comes out of the said shield cover assembly.

ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to this invention, it is possible to make small the protrusion amount from the back surface of an electronic device at the time of connecting to the connector of the back side of electronic devices, such as a server, compared with the past. In addition, the amount of protrusion is uniquely determined, the size of the space required on the back side when the electronic device is installed is uniquely determined, and the user plans to place the electronic device in the room Is easy to stand.

Next, an embodiment of the present invention will be described.

3, FIG. 4 and FIG. 5 (A) show a balanced transmission cable connector 30 according to the first embodiment of the present invention. 3 is a perspective view showing the cable connector 30 as viewed obliquely and exploded, FIG. 4 is a side view, and FIG. 5A is a cross-sectional view taken along a vertical plane including the line VV in FIG. FIG. In each figure, X1-X2 is the width direction of the cable connector 30, Z1-Z2 is the thickness direction, and Y1-Y2 is the longitudinal direction, that is, the insertion / extraction direction. Y1 is the tip side, and Y2 is the back side. X2 is the right (R) side, and X1 is the left (L) side. X2 is the upper surface side when the cable connector 30 is connected to the connector 3 of the server 1, and X1 is the lower surface side.

In the cable connector 30, the contact / relay board module 31 and the latch claw members 35 </ b> R and 35 </ b> L are generally incorporated in the shield cover assembly 40, and the side surface 40 </ b> L of the shield cover assembly 40 is located at the position P. Between the position P1 where the latch release member 50 is incorporated in the contact assembly on the upper end side in the Y1-Y2 direction of the shield cover assembly 40 and the position P2 where the balanced transmission cable 20 exits. The shield cover assembly 40 is arranged on the upper surface 40U side in the thickness direction.

As shown in FIGS. 3 and 5A, the shield cover assembly 40 includes a lower cover 41 and an upper cover 45. The lower cover 41 has a balanced transmission cable outlet portion 42 at a position P near the back surface of the side surface 41L, and a rib 43R that supports and guides the inner surface of the leg portion of the latch release member 50 at a position near the tip. 43L, and openings 44R and 44L at the bases of the ribs 43R and 43L. The side surface 41L is a lower side surface when the cable connector 30 is connected to the connector 3. The upper cover 45 has openings 46R and 46L at positions close to the tip.

As shown in FIG. 3, the contact / relay board module 31 has a configuration in which a relay board 33 is coupled to the back side of a contact assembly 32 in which a plurality of contacts are assembled in an electric insulator. The solid 32 is located in P1 on the Y2 side and is incorporated in the lower cover 41.

The balanced transmission cable 20 has its end fitted and fixed to the balanced transmission cable outlet 42, and the electric wire 21 extending from the end is connected to the relay substrate 33. A portion of the relay board 33 that faces the balanced transmission cable outlet 42 is cut out, and a space 34 is formed in the cable 20 where the plurality of electric wires 21 extending from the ends are fanned out.

The latch claw members 35R and 35L are attached with the Y1 side locked to a part of the lower cover 41, and extend in the Y2 direction along both sides of the shield cover assembly 40. The latch claw members 35R and 35L have hooks facing inward at the tips.

3 and 5A, the latch release member 50 includes a rectangular plate-like latch release operation unit 51 and a direction perpendicular to the latch release operation unit 51 from both ends of the latch release operation unit 51. The leg portions 52R, 52L each have a shape having inclined surface portions 52Ra, 52La on the outside and hook portions 52Rc, 52Lc at the tips. The inclined surface portions 52Ra and 52La are tapered so as to expand from side to side in the Z1 direction from Z2. The latch release member 50 has leg portions 52R and 52L that enter the shield cover assembly 40 through the openings 46R and 46L of the upper cover 45. The leg portions 52R and 52L latch with the ribs 43R and 43L, respectively. It is located between the claw members 35R and 35L. The inner side surfaces 52Rb and 52Lb of the leg portions 52R and 52L are supported and guided by the ribs 43R and 43L, respectively, and the inclined surface portions 52Ra and 52La outside the leg portions 52R and 52L are in contact with the latch claw members 35R and 35L. The hook portions 52Rc and 52Lc lock the lower ends of the latch claw members 35R and 35L, so that the latch release member 50 is prevented from coming off in the Z1 direction and coming off. The latch release operation part 51 floats by a dimension a in the Z1 direction from the upper cover 45 of the shield cover assembly 40 and crosses the shield cover assembly 40 in the X1-X2 direction. The latch release member 50 is located between the position P1 and the position P2 of the shield cover assembly 40, that is, within the range of the longitudinal dimension of the shield cover assembly 40, and does not interfere with the cable 20 and the electric wire 21. It is incorporated in.

When the latch release operation part 51 is pressed, as shown in FIG. 5B, the latch release member 50 moves in the Z2 direction, the inclined surface parts 52Ra, 52La displace the latch claw members 35R, 35L outward, The latch claw members 35R and 35L are deformed so as to expand therebetween, that is, in a direction in which the latch is released. The leg portions 52R and 52L are in contact with the ribs 43R and 43L, and the deformation of the leg portions is restricted. Therefore, the deformation | transformation which the space between the latch nail | claw members 35R and 35L expands is made reliably. The hook parts 52Rc and 52Lc enter the openings 44R and 44L. When the latch release operation portion 51 is stopped from being pressed, the latch release operation portion 51 is raised by the spring force in the direction in which the latch claw members 35R and 35L are retracted to the original state shown in FIG.

The cable connector 30 having the above configuration is configured such that the back surface 40Y1 on the Y1 side of the shield cover assembly 40 is closed, and nothing projects in the Y1 direction from the back surface 40Y1.

FIG. 1B shows a state where the cable connector 30 having the above configuration is connected to the connector 3 on the back surface 2 side of the server 1. The cable connector 30 is connected to the connector 3 with directivity. Here, the shield release member 50 is positioned within the range of the longitudinal dimension of the shield cover assembly 40, and the direction in which the cable 20 extends from the shield cover assembly 40 is the Z2 direction. A protruding portion in the rearward direction from the cover assembly 40 is eliminated, and the width of the space 6A between the server 1 and the wall 5 of the room becomes S2 and becomes narrower than before. That is. The server 1 can be installed close to the wall 5 of the room. In addition, since the cable 20 does not have a curved portion that varies in size depending on the type of cable, the size of the space required on the back side when the server 1 is installed is uniquely determined. The user can easily plan to place the server in the room.

To remove the cable connector 30 from the connector 3, as shown in FIG. 5B, the operator places one hand on the latch release operation portion 51 of the cable connector 30 and places the cable connector 30 in its thickness. It is only necessary to perform an operation of grasping in the direction and pressing the latch release operation unit 51 by applying a force to the thumb and pulling the cable connector 30 out of the connector 3 in this state.

Note that when looking into the space 6A from above, the latch release operation unit 51 is in a vertical state. When the operator inserts his hand into the space 6A from above and grasps the cable connector 30, the latch release operation unit 51 is automatically moved. There is no need to move the fingertip to the position of the latch release operation portion 51 and the operation of pulling the cable connector 30 out of the connector 3 is easy.
