Description

The present invention relates to a vehicle-installed airbag apparatus that inflates and deploys an airbag along an upper surface of a hood or a front surface of a windshield.

Various forms of collision of the obstacle with the vehicle are assumed, and it is conceivable that the obstacle hits another part of the vehicle after hitting the front bumper of the vehicle. The first collision where the obstacle hits the front bumper or the like will be referred to as “primary collision”, and the collision that hits another part of the vehicle will be referred to as “secondary collision”.

As a vehicle-mounted airbag device, immediately after the primary collision, the airbag is inflated and deployed to cover the outside of the vehicle, such as the front pillar and windshield, to reduce the impact when an obstacle collides with the outside of the vehicle. Air bags have been proposed.

As such a vehicle-mounted airbag device, an airbag provided with a tether (strap) that regulates the deployment shape of the airbag is known (for example, see Patent Document 1).
JP 2003-306100 A (page 9, FIG. 5)

FIG. 18 is a diagram for explaining a conventional basic configuration. A vehicular air bag apparatus 240 is provided with a belt-like tether (strap) 245 from the upper end to the lower end of the air bag 241 at the approximate center in the air bag 241. In addition to extending the tether 245 in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body, connecting the front and rear edges of the tether 245 to the inner periphery of the airbag 241, respectively, the neck portion 246, 246 is formed in the airbag 241; Swelling portions (convex curved portions) 247 and 247 that can come into contact with the front window glass 242 and the garnish 243 are formed with the constricted portions 246 and 246 interposed therebetween.

In general, short obstacles (for example, pedestrians with low elongation) hit the airbag from the upper end (for example, the head), and long obstacles (for example, pedestrians with high elongation) are generally centered (for example, It hits from the waist or chest) and exhibits a movement in which the upper end rotates with this substantially central portion as a fulcrum. Therefore, since the upper end portion can be directly received by a short obstacle, the force for rotating the upper end portion by the airbag does not act. However, in the case of a long obstacle, the upper end is set with the substantially central portion as a fulcrum by being stopped by the airbag. Since the force which rotates a part acts, it wants to receive so that rotation of an upper end part may be relieved.

However, in the vehicle-mounted airbag device 240, the tether 245 is passed to the approximate center of the vertically long airbag 241 to form the bulging portions (convex curved portions) 247 and 247 that can contact the front window glass 242 and the garnish 243. Therefore, the shape of the root portion of the airbag 241 where the inflator (not shown) is arranged cannot be regulated.
Therefore, if it bulges more than necessary, for example, if the bulging part hits the approximate center part (waist or chest) of a long obstacle (a tall pedestrian), the approximately center part is stopped, There is a problem that the upper end (head) starts to rotate as a fulcrum and cannot be received so as to moderate the rotation of the upper end.
In general, in an airbag device such as a vehicle-mounted airbag device, an inflator is usually installed at the base portion of the airbag, which may impose restrictions on the design of the airbag.

In other words, even when obstacles with different lengths (long obstacles or short obstacles) come into contact with the airbag, the impact of the obstacles can be sufficiently absorbed, and the degree of freedom in installing the inflator is improved. There is a desire for an air bag device that can be installed outside the vehicle.

The present invention solves the problem that the upper end cannot be relieved when a long obstacle comes into contact with the airbag, and even when a long obstacle comes into contact, the impact of the obstacle is sufficiently absorbed. The vehicle outside air bag apparatus that can provide a vehicle air bag apparatus that solves the limitations of the air bag design and can improve the flexibility of the location of the inflator is provided. It is an object to provide an airbag device.

According to a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a vehicle exterior airbag device in which a substantially cylindrical airbag is inflated and deployed longitudinally with an inflator in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle while being along the outer surface of the vehicle. A tether that divides the width direction of the bag is provided, and at least the upper and lower edges of the tether are connected to the airbag to form a constricted portion, and an inflated portion that is inflated on both sides of the constricted portion by an inflator The tether is provided with a restricting portion for restricting at least a pair of the vicinity of the root portion of the airbag on which the inflator is disposed to the left and right with the inflator interposed therebetween.

For example, if a long obstacle comes into contact with the airbag and can be received so as to moderate the rotation of the upper end, the same shock absorbing effect can be exerted on both obstacles of different lengths. This is preferable because it is possible.

That is, the airbag is provided with a tether that divides the width direction of the bag in the expanded state, and at least the upper and lower edges of the tether are connected to the airbag to form a constricted portion, and on both sides of the constricted portion. By forming a bulging part to be inflated with an inflator and providing a regulating part that regulates to the vicinity of the base part of the airbag where the inflator is arranged in the dither, the airbag is substantially at the center of a long obstacle (a tall pedestrian) The part (waist or chest) abuts, and when the airbag is pushed in at the approximate center, the rotational speed (transfer speed) of the upper end (head) is lowered to absorb the impact of the obstacle.

The invention according to claim 2 is characterized in that the restricting portion restricts the height of the airbag gradually toward the rear.
By restricting the airbag so that the height of the airbag is gradually increased with the regulating portion directed rearward, it is possible to further improve the impact absorption of a long obstacle (a tall pedestrian).

The invention according to claim 3 is characterized in that the inflator is externally attached to the airbag, and the bulging portion is communicated by forming a communication hole in the tether.

For example, if it is possible to improve the flexibility of the place where the inflator is installed, it is preferable because the space efficiency of the vehicle body can be improved.
By externally attaching the inflator to the airbag, it is possible to improve the degree of freedom of the installation location of the inflator.

In the invention according to claim 1, the airbag is provided with a tether that divides the bag width direction in a state where the airbag is inflated and deployed, and at least the upper and lower edges of the tether are connected to the airbag to form a constricted portion, Formed on both sides of the constricted portion is an inflated portion that is inflated with an inflator, and the tether is provided with a dither up to the vicinity of the root portion of the airbag where the inflator is arranged, and further provided with a regulating portion that regulates the airbag Therefore, when the airbag is pushed at the substantially central portion (waist or chest) of the long obstacle (a tall pedestrian) comes into contact with the airbag, the substantially central portion may be suddenly stopped. The rotational speed (transfer speed) at the upper end can be reduced. As a result, when the upper end hits the airbag, there is an advantage that the airbag can be received so as to moderate the rotation of the upper end.

In the invention according to claim 2, by restricting the airbag so that the height of the airbag is gradually increased toward the rear by the restricting portion, the impact absorption of a long obstacle (a tall pedestrian) is further increased. There is an advantage that it can be improved.

In the invention according to claim 3, since the inflator is externally attached to the airbag, it is possible to improve the degree of freedom of the installation location of the inflator. As a result, there is an advantage that the space efficiency of the vehicle body can be improved.

10A and 10B are operation explanatory views for explaining the operation of the vehicle-mounted air bag device according to the present invention. FIG. 10A shows a vehicle-mounted air bag device 230 of a comparative example, and FIG. A standing airbag device 30L is shown.
In (a), the vehicle-installed airbag device 230 includes an airbag 231 that protects an obstacle, a storage case 232 that stores the airbag 231, and an inflator 233 that inflates and deploys the airbag 231. The airbag 231 is composed of an airbag body 234 and a tether 235 that adjusts the shape of the airbag body 234.

However, since the tether 235 is provided substantially at the center of the airbag body 234, the tether 235 cannot be disposed near the inflator 233. Therefore, the shape of the airbag main body 234 near the inflator 233 cannot be restricted, and unnecessary bulging of the airbag 231 cannot be avoided as indicated by the white arrow. This unnecessary bulging was a factor that adversely affected the behavior of obstacles (pedestrians) in secondary collisions.

In (b), since the tethers 145 and 145 are transferred to the airbag body 142 in a cross-sectional view, for example, the tethers 145 and 145 are attached to the airbag body 142 over the entire circumference while avoiding the inflator 139. Can be passed. Therefore, a desired part of the airbag main body 142 can be regulated, and unnecessary bulging of the airbag 31L can be avoided.

FIGS. 11A to 11D are explanatory diagrams of the mechanism of secondary collision with a long obstacle. T1 indicates a long obstacle (for example, a tall pedestrian).

(A)-(c) is an illustration in case the long obstruction (tall pedestrian) 204 collides with the vehicle 200. In (a), the long obstruction 204 is a front bumper (front end) of the vehicle 200. When hitting 201, it falls down as shown by arrow a1. In this state, the airbag 203 starts to expand and deploy. In (b), the obstacle 204 slides up the hood (upper surface) 202 of the vehicle 200 as indicated by an arrow a2. On the other hand, when the airbag 203 is inflated and deployed, the substantially central portion (for example, the pedestrian's waist or chest) 206 of the obstacle 204 is stopped at the front end of the airbag 203, and the upper end portion (for example, the head of the obstacle 204). ) 205 is subjected to a rotating force as indicated by an arrow a3 with the substantially central portion 206 of the obstacle 204 as a fulcrum. In (c), the upper end 205 of the obstacle 204 is received by the airbag 203.

That is, when the bulge of the base portion (front end portion) 209 of the airbag 203 shown in (b) is large, the substantially central portion (waist or chest) 206 is suddenly stopped and the upper end portion (head) 205 is rotated. It rises as shown by arrow a3.
