Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a battery pack, and more particularly to a protective circuit board and cover mounting structure for a unit cell.
The battery pack is a combination of a unit cell and a protection circuit board inserted between the unit cell and an external device, and includes a protection circuit board and a part of the unit cell to which the unit is joined. And so on. Among the constituent elements, for example, a flat-type square lithium ion battery or the like is used as the unit cell, and the protective circuit board is connected to the positive and negative bipolar terminals provided on the sealing body of the unit cell.
Meanwhile, in recent years, the size of portable devices to which battery packs are to be attached has been reduced, and there is a demand for further size reduction of battery packs. In addition, the battery pack is required to reduce the size as well as to reduce the size. In order to meet such a demand, a technique related to simplification of the resin cover mounting structure (for example, Patent Document 1), a technique related to a protective circuit board mounting structure for a unit cell (for example, Patent Document 2), and the like have been proposed. Yes. In addition, a technique (for example, Patent Document 3) in which a low-temperature resin material is poured into a region where a protective circuit board is attached to form a cover has been proposed.
However, the conventional techniques including the above-mentioned
In the technique disclosed in Patent Document 3, the cover is formed by using the insert molding method. In the manufacturing process, the temperature of the resin material is raised to a certain level in order to give the resin used in the molding fluidity. There is a need to limit the electronic components that can be used to construct the protection circuit board. Further, in the conventional techniques including the
Further, in the above conventional technique, the protective circuit board is joined to the bipolar terminals of the unit cell using the spot welding method. In this case, the protection circuit board is destroyed due to welding current or the like. Problems can also arise.
The present invention has been made to solve such problems, and an object thereof is to provide a battery pack having a configuration capable of ensuring high reliability while reducing cost and size. To do.
In order to achieve the above object, the battery pack according to the present invention adopts the following configuration.
(1) The battery pack according to the present invention is an element in which an electrode body is housed in a bottomed cylindrical exterior body, and an opening of the exterior body is sealed with a sealing body provided with both positive and negative terminals. A protective circuit board having a battery and a connection lead electrically connected to each of a positive electrode and a negative electrode of the unit cell, and electrically protecting the unit cell from at least one factor of overcharge, overdischarge and overcurrent And a cover body provided so as to cover both the positive and negative terminals of the unit cell and the protection circuit board, wherein the protection circuit board and the cover body and the unit cell are screwed together. The positive and negative terminals of the unit cell and the connection leads of the protection circuit board are connected to each other by a screwing tightening force.
(2) In the battery pack according to (1) above, both the positive and negative terminals of the unit cell project from the surface of the sealing body toward the mounting side of the protective circuit board and the cover body, and the projecting top surface A nut portion is provided inward of the unit cell, and both connection leads and the cover body of the protection circuit board are provided with insertion holes through which screws that can be screwed into the nut portion are provided. The cover body and the unit cell are screwed together with two screws in a state where the connection lead of the protective circuit board is sandwiched between the cover body and the projecting top surfaces of the positive and negative terminals. And
(3) In the battery pack according to (2), both the positive and negative terminals are formed in the outer edge region on the surface of the sealing body, and the protruding top surface is formed substantially flat. .
(4) In the battery pack according to the above (3), the protective circuit board has a substantially strip-shaped board body, and the board body is constructed between both the positive and negative terminals. It is characterized by.
(5) In the battery pack according to (4), an external connection contact is provided on the surface of the cover body side of the substrate body, and the external connection contact is outward through a window provided in the cover body. It is exposed.
(6) The battery pack according to (5) is characterized in that the protective circuit board includes a plurality of electronic components including at least a heat sensitive element mounted on the surface of the substrate body on the unit cell side.
(7) In the battery pack according to the above (2) to (6), a screw cover is joined to the cover body so as to cover the insertion hole, and the head portions of the two screws touch the user's eyes with the screw cover. It is characterized by being in no state.
(8) In the battery pack according to the above (1) to (7), the side peripheral surface of the exterior body of the unit cell is covered with a label body, and the label body also covers a part of the side peripheral surface of the cover body. It is characterized by being in the state of being.
In the battery pack according to the present invention, as in (1) above, the protective circuit board and the cover body and the unit cell are screwed together, and each connection lead of the protective circuit board and the positive and negative bipolar terminals of the unit cell are connected. The electrical connection between them is made by the tightening force generated by the screw connection. In the battery pack according to the present invention having such a configuration, it is possible to join the cover body and the protective circuit board to the unit cell by screwing at a time, and the manufacturing process is compared with the conventional technique. It can be simple. For example, in the technique according to
Further, in the battery pack according to the present invention, the connection leads of the protection circuit board and the positive and negative electrode terminals of the unit cell are electrically joined by using the screwing coupling tightening force. The protective circuit boards can be reliably joined without using a spot welding method for joining between them as in the prior art. Therefore, there is no damage to the protection circuit board at the time of bonding.
Further, in the battery pack according to the present invention, since the unit cell and the cover body are joined by screwing, it is not necessary to use a cover body having a complicated three-dimensional shape like the battery pack according to
Furthermore, in the battery pack according to the present invention, since the unit cell, the protection circuit board, and the cover body are joined by screwing, a defect is found in a part of the battery pack after the cover body is attached and before shipment. In this case, the cover body and the protection circuit board can be removed from the unit cell, and only the defective part can be partially replaced or repaired. For this reason, it has the advantage that the yield at the time of manufacture can be aimed at with respect to the above-mentioned conventional battery pack in which partial repair is substantially impossible after the cover body is assembled. Here, since it is not preferable to remove the cover body after reaching the user's hand, the screw or nut head used for screwing is covered with a cap as in (7), or It is desirable to take measures such as making the screw thread for rotation at the head of the screw have a special shape.
As described above, the battery pack according to the present invention has the advantage that, by adopting the configuration (1), it is possible to ensure high reliability while reducing costs and downsizing. Have.
The battery pack according to the present invention is not particularly limited in the number of screws to be used when the cover body and the protection circuit board are coupled to the unit cell, but as described in (2) above, using two screws, It is desirable to provide a nut portion (female screw) on the projecting top surface of the positive and negative electrode terminals of the unit cell. That is, when the unit cell, the cover body, and the protection circuit board are joined by a single screw, although it is excellent in terms of workability, it is disadvantageous in terms of joining reliability. On the other hand, in the case of joining using three or more screws, it is disadvantageous from the viewpoint of workability, although it is excellent from the viewpoint of joining reliability.
Further, in the battery pack according to the present invention, a configuration in which a nut portion is provided on the projecting top surface of the positive and negative electrode terminals in the unit cell is adopted, so there is no need to provide a separate nut portion for joining, and space saving Is advantageous in terms of cost reduction and cost reduction.
Further, in the battery pack according to the present invention, as described in (3) above, by forming the projecting top surfaces of the positive and negative bipolar terminals in the unit cell substantially flat, a protection circuit is provided for this projecting top surface. It becomes easy to electrically connect the connection leads of the board only with the tightening force, and the structure is simple. Further, in the battery pack according to the present invention, by arranging the positive and negative bipolar terminals in the unit cell in the outer edge region of the surface of the sealing body, it is possible to set a large effective surface area of the protective circuit board connected thereto, It is an advantage. In particular, as described in (4) above, when adopting a configuration in which the substrate body of the protection circuit board is installed between the positive and negative terminals, it is possible to reduce the space required for arranging the protection circuit board. This is very advantageous from the viewpoint of miniaturization.
このため、本発明に係るパック電池では、感熱素子として、例えば、PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient)素子やNTC(Negative Temperature Coefficient)素子などを少ない制約条件で使用することができる。
Moreover, in the battery pack according to the present invention, a configuration is adopted in which the external connection contact is formed on the other main surface of the substrate body, and this is exposed to the outside through a window provided in the cover body. For this reason, in the battery pack according to the present invention, it is not necessary to provide a separate contact for external connection unlike the conventional battery pack, which is advantageous in terms of both size and cost.
Furthermore, in the battery pack according to the present invention, when the configuration in which a plurality of electronic components are mounted on the surface of the substrate body as in (6) above is used, as in the battery pack according to Patent Document 3 above. Since the cover body is attached without adopting the insert molding method, a plurality of electronic components are not restricted from a thermal viewpoint. For this reason, in the battery pack according to the present invention, for example, a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) element, an NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) element, or the like can be used as the heat sensitive element with few restrictions.
Further, in the battery pack according to the present invention, as described in (8) above, a configuration in which the label body covering the side peripheral surface of the exterior body is also overlapped with a part of the side peripheral surface of the cover body may be adopted. In this case, it is possible to suppress leakage of the electrolyte solution outside the pack when the electrolyte solution leaks from the unit cell.
The best mode for carrying out the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. In addition, each structure which concerns on the following embodiment is an example used for convenience of explanation, Comprising: This invention is not limited to these, A various variation can be taken.

As shown in FIG. 2, the

In addition, the
The
3. Advantages of the
Moreover, in the above-mentioned
Further, in the
Further, when the cover is formed using the insert molding method as in the battery pack according to Patent Document 3, a restriction is imposed on electronic components mounted on the protection circuit board in consideration of the molding temperature of the resin material. In the case where the
Further, in the manufacturing process of the battery pack, performance and the like are inspected at the final stage to detect defective products. At this time, in the battery pack according to the prior art including the above-described
On the other hand, in the
In the

(Modification)
The structure of the battery pack according to the modification will be described with reference to FIG. As shown in FIG. 4, the difference from the first embodiment included in the battery pack according to the present modification is in the configuration of the
As shown in FIG. 4, in the battery pack according to this modification, the

The battery pack according to this modification has the structure of the
(Embodiment 2)
Next, the
As shown in FIG. 5, the main characteristic configuration of the
As shown in the enlarged portion of FIG. 5, the

In the first and second embodiments and the modified examples, a flat rectangular lithium ion battery is adopted as an example of the unit cell. However, the present invention is restricted in terms of the type and external shape of the unit cell. is not. For example, a nickel cadmium battery, a nickel hydrogen battery, or the like can be adopted as the type of unit cell, and a cylindrical shape or the like can be adopted as the external shape.
In the first and second embodiments and the modifications described above, the
INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY The present invention is effective for realizing a battery pack that requires both high reliability and further miniaturization and cost reduction as a power source for portable devices such as mobile phones.
