転写領域において、前記像担持体に接して前記像担持体上のトナー像を記録材へ転写する転写手段と、
定着領域において、前記記録材を狭持して前記トナー像を記録材へ定着する定着手段と、
前記本体に対して開閉可能で、前記定着手段が設けられ、開いた状態になることで、前記転写領域と前記定着領域の間に滞留する前記記録材は前記画像形成装置の外へ除去可能になり、開閉により前記定着手段を移動させる開閉部と、を有する画像形成装置において、
前記開閉部が開く際、前記像担持体に接する前記転写手段を、前記像担持体から離間する離間手段を有することを特徴とする画像形成装置。
