DBDAHおよびBCDMH試験法
1.「遊離塩素」および「総塩素」試験に反応する、水中に存在する物質の量を測定するために、水試料を採取の数分以内に、そして好ましくは採取直後に分析しなければならない。
USE ONLY TRICHLORO−S−TRIAZINETORIONE TABLETS−SLOW DISSOLVING TYPE(トリクロロ−s−トリアジントリオン錠−徐放型のみを使用のこと)
を含む注意書きがある。
5,5−ジメチルヒダントイン/NaOH溶液をBr2と同時に、しかし別々に反応フラスコに、ジャケット付き反応フラスコに、加熱もしくは冷却を同時に適用せずに、同時供給する。5,5−ジメチルヒダントイン/NaOH溶液の供給速度は10mL/分であり、Br2の供給速度は最初1.70mL/分であるが、後に1.68mL/分に調整して、反応混合物のpHを〜7.0に維持する。反応混合物を機械的撹拌機で400rpmの速度で撹拌し、反応温度は約42℃に安定化した。反応が進行するに従って形成するスラリーを反応フラスコ中の溶液のレベルが一定に維持されるような速度で回収する。生成物の8種の500mL画分を各画分当たり30分の平均時間をかけて、反応フラスコの底から回収する。合計1374.5g(8.59モル)のBr2を反応期間中に添加する。
DBDMHは1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインであり、
DCDMHは1,3−ジクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインであり、
BCDMHはN,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインである。
A)水域の殺菌活動を実施する方法であって、Hach Method 8021(著作権1997、Hach Companyによる)を使用する「遊離塩素」およびHach Model 8167(著作権1997、Hach Companyによる)を使用する「総塩素」を比較試験し、そして試験からの「遊離塩素」のmg/LCl2を試験からの「総塩素」のmg/LCl2値の百分率に変換することにより測定可能な、本明細書に記載の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントイン殺菌剤(DBDAH)、もっとも好ましくは1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントイン(DBDMH)を使用して、これらの水域中に等モル量のN,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントイン(BCDMH)により提供される「遊離塩素」の濃度から予測できると考えられる値より大きい濃度の「遊離塩素」を提供することを含んで成る方法であって、ここで、前記の各試験に使用される4種の水試料はそれぞれ前記の水域と同様なpHを有し、かつ等モル量のBCDMHもしくはDBDAHを含有する。
A1)その中に含有された殺生剤の充填物から殺生物質を調節された速度で水中に自動的に分配する分配装置から、水と、5−位のアルキル基の片方がメチル基であり、かつ5−位の他方のアルキル基が1〜4の範囲の炭素原子を有する少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントイン間の相互反応により形成される殺生物質を水中に分配することを含んで成る、水域を浄化する方法であって、そこで、前記の分配装置中に充填された前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが、最初の接触の60分後に水が顆粒1グラム当たり75〜430mg/Lの範囲の「遊離塩素」を含有するような速度で25℃の温度にある静止水中に溶解されることができる顆粒の形態にある、方法。
Claims (41)
- 少なくとも1種の鉄もしくは銅表面と接触しているもしくは接触する殺生性の水による処理時に有効な「遊離塩素」レベルを達成する方法であって、前記水中に、その量が(i)水中に殺生的に有効な「遊離塩素」レベルを提供し、そして(ii)N,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインに比較して、水が接触している、もしくは接触する前記鉄もしくは銅の腐蝕速度を低下させる(ここで、前記水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインは、5−位のアルキル基の1つがメチル基であり、かつ5−位の他のアルキル基が1〜4の範囲の炭素原子を有することを特徴とする)、殺生的有効量の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインを導入することを含んで成る方法。
- 前記水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインである、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが、水中に前記殺生的有効量を維持する速度で前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインを含有し、かつ分配する分配装置から前記水中に連続的にもしくは実質的に連続的に導入される請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記殺生的有効量を水中に維持する速度で溶解され、前記分配装置から分配されることができる、前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインの顆粒で前記分配装置を定期的に充填することを更に含んで成る請求項3記載の方法。
- 前記分配装置が浮き型の分配装置である請求項4記載の方法。
- 前記の水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインであり、かつ1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインの前記顆粒が25℃の温度にある静止水中に、最初の接触の60分後に水が顆粒1グラム当たり75〜430mg/Lの範囲の「遊離塩素」を含有するような速度で溶解することができる、請求項4もしくは5のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインであり、かつ前記水中に導入の前に、1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインの前記顆粒が少なくとも約26.25N/厚さ1cm(15ポンド/インチ)の平均圧潰強さおよび40U.S.標準メッシュサイズ〜0.95cm(3/8−インチ)の範囲の平均サイズを有する、請求項4もしくは5のいずれかに記載の方法。
- バイオフィルムと接触している、もしくはバイオフィルムと接触する殺生性の水による処理時に有効な「遊離塩素」レベルを達成する方法であって、前記水中に殺生的有効量の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインを導入することを含んで成る方法であって、そこで前記の量が(i)水中に、等モル量のN,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインにより提供されると考えられるよりも高い殺生的に有効な「遊離塩素」レベルを提供し、(ii)前記バイオフィルムの根絶もしくは少なくとも有効な殺生的チャレンジをもたらし、そして(iii)前記水を処理する際の殺生剤消費速度をN,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインに比較して低下させることができ、そこで前記の水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが5−位のアルキル基の1つがメチル基であり、かつ5−位の他方のアルキル基が1〜4の範囲の炭素原子を有することを特徴とする、方法。
- 前記水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインである請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが、水中で前記殺生的有効量を維持する速度で前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインを含有しかつ分配する分配装置から前記水中に連続的にもしくは実質的に連続的に導入される請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記殺生的有効量を水中に維持する速度で溶解し、前記分配装置から分配するようになっている前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインの顆粒で前記分配装置を定期的に充填することを更に含んで成る請求項10記載の方法。
- 前記分配装置が浮き型分配装置である請求項11記載の方法。
- 前記水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインであり、かつ1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインの前記顆粒が25℃の温度にある静止水中に、最初の接触の60分後に水が顆粒1グラム当たり75〜430mg/Lの範囲の「遊離塩素」を含有するような速度で溶解されることができる、請求項11もしくは12のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインであり、かつ前記水中に導入の前に、1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインの前記顆粒が少なくとも約26.25N/厚さ1cm(15ポンド/インチ)の平均圧潰強さおよび40U.S.標準メッシュサイズ〜0.95cm(3/8−インチ)の範囲の平均サイズを有する、請求項11もしくは12のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記の水中に導入される前記の殺生的有効量の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインが等モル量のN,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインにより達成されると考えられるよりも高い程度に前記バイオフィルムの根絶もしくは少なくとも有効な殺生的チャレンジをもたらす、請求項9記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1種の鉄もしくは銅表面と接触しているもしくは接触する殺生性の水で処理する際に有効な「遊離塩素」レベルを達成する方法であって、(i)水中に殺生的に有効な「遊離塩素」レベルを提供し、(ii)N,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインに比較して、水が接触しているもしくは接触する前記鉄もしくは銅の腐蝕速度を低下させ、そして(iii)N,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインに比較して、前記水を処理する際の殺生剤消費速度を低下させることができる速度で、少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインで前記の水を処理することを含んで成る方法であって、ここで前記水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが5−位のアルキル基の1個がメチル基であり、かつ5−位の他方のアルキル基が1〜4の範囲の炭素原子を有することを特徴とする、方法。
- 前記の水を処理するために使用される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインである、請求項16記載の方法。
- 前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが、水中で前記の殺生的に有効な「遊離塩素」レベルを維持する速度で前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインを含有し、分配する分配装置から前記水中に連続的にもしくは実質的に連続的に導入される、請求項16記載の方法。
- 水中で前記殺生的に有効な「遊離塩素」レベルを維持する速度で溶解され、前記分配装置から分配されるようになっている、前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインの顆粒を前記分配装置に定期的に充填することを更に含んで成る、請求項18記載の方法。
- 前記分配装置が浮き型の分配装置である請求項19記載の方法。
- 前記分配装置がインラインもしくはオフライン型の分配装置である、請求項19記載の方法。
- 前記水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインであり、かつ1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインの前記顆粒が、最初の接触の60分後に水が顆粒1グラム当たり75〜430mg/Lの範囲の「遊離塩素」を含有する速度で、25℃の温度にある静止水中に溶解することができる、請求項19、20もしくは21のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5−イソブチル−5−メチルヒダントイン、1,3−ジブロモ−5−n−プロピル−5−メチルヒダントインもしくは1,3−ジブロモ−5−エチル−5−メチルヒダントインもしくはそれらのいずれかの少なくとも2種を含んで成る、請求項16記載の方法。
- 前記水中に導入される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインおよび1,3−ジブロモ−5−エチル−5−メチルヒダントインである、請求項16記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1種の鉄もしくは銅表面と接触しているもしくは接触する水が更に、バイオフィルムと接触しているかもしくはバイオフィルムと接触し、かつ前記の殺生的に有効量の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインが等モル量のN,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインにより達成されると考えられるよりも高度に前記バイオフィルムの根絶もしくは少なくとも有効な殺生的チャレンジをもたらす、請求項17記載の方法。
- 少なくとも26.25N/顆粒の厚さ1cm(15ポンド/インチ)の平均圧潰強さ、40U.S.標準メッシュサイズ〜0.95cm(3/8−インチ)の範囲の平均サイズを有する少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインの顆粒を含んで成る殺生性組成物であって、ここで前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが、5−位のアルキル基の1つがメチル基であり、かつ5−位の他方のアルキル基が1〜4の範囲の炭素原子を有することを特徴とし、前記顆粒が前記顆粒に結合もしくは硬化作用を与えるどんな添加剤をもその中に含まない、組成物。
- 前記平均圧潰強さが顆粒の厚さ1インチ当たり少なくとも20ポンド(3.57kg/cm)である請求項26の組成物。
- 前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインであり、かつ前記顆粒が25℃の温度にある静止水中に、静止水中に前記顆粒浸漬の60分後に、水が、水中に浸漬された顆粒1グラム当たり75〜430mg/Lの範囲の「遊離塩素」を含有するような速度で溶解されることができる、請求項26の組成物。

- 少なくとも1種の鉄もしくは銅表面と接触しているもしくは接触する水域中で殺菌活動を実施する方法であって、少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインの使用により前記水域中に、(A)等モル量のN,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインにより提供される「遊離塩素」の濃度から予測することができると考えられるよりも大きく、(B)N,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインからの等濃度の遊離塩素に比較して前記の少なくとも1種の鉄もしくは銅表面の腐蝕が少ない「遊離塩素」の濃度を提供することを含んで成る方法であって、そこで、使用される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが5−位のアルキル基の1つがメチル基であり、かつ5−位の他方のアルキル基が1〜4の範囲の炭素原子を有することを特徴とする、方法。
- 使用される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインである、請求項30記載の方法。
- 使用される前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインがN,N’−ブロモクロロ−5,5−ジメチルヒダントインに比較して前記水を処理する際の殺生剤消費速度を減少させることができる、請求項30記載の方法。

- 前記分配装置に充填される時の前記顆粒が前記顆粒に結合もしくは硬化作用を与えるどんな添加剤をもその中に含まない、請求項37記載の浄水装置。
- 前記平均圧潰強さが少なくとも35N/顆粒の厚さ1cm(20ポンド/インチ)である請求項37もしくは38のいずれかに記載の浄水装置。
- 前記の少なくとも1種の1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインが1,3−ジブロモ−5,5−ジアルキルヒダントインであり、かつ25℃の温度にある静止水中に、静止水中への前記顆粒の浸漬の60分後に、水が水中に浸漬された顆粒1グラム当たり75〜430mg/Lの範囲の「遊離塩素」を含有するような速度で前記顆粒が溶解されることができる請求項37もしくは38のいずれかに記載の浄水装置。
