従来の鳥獣被害対策は駆除中心に行われていたが、その被害は年々増加し、一方では自然保護、種の保存という観点で保護対象とされる鳥獣類も多く、決定的な被害対策が見いだせずにいた。一部に、テレメトリ発信器を使用して、その発信電波を利用することで、その接近を知ろうとする受信機の利用もあったが、その受信機の利用については、ある程度の熟練、すなわち運用技術を必要とし、また常に受信状態を気にしていないとテレメトリ信号の受信に気づかないと言う問題があり、誰でもが有効に発信電波が利用できる状況ではなかった。テレメトリ発信器の電波受信に際しては、雑音などの影響も大きく、また住民が日頃の生活空間のなかで、接近を予知して対応できるほどの受信感度(感知距離)が得られていなかった。そして、接近を知ったときの対応も、行政窓口への連絡で終わってしまう場合がほとんどで、その場での対応がとられていない、すなわち野生動物の接近に対して即効的な対処ができていなかった。 Conventional measures against damage to birds and beasts have been focused on extermination, but the damage has been increasing year by year. 本装置の中に、受信動作の記録機能を組み入れ、テレメトリ発信器の受信周波数・作動(入り切り)日時を記録・保存することで、いつどの野生動物がその検知範囲に現れたかの履歴を残すことが可能となり、野生動物の行動域調査が正確にできることとなり、鳥獣被害対策をより確実に実施することが可能となる。動作記録部と外部コンピュータとの接続は一般的なRS232cで、テキスト形式で保存した履歴データを外部に取り出すことができる。
