Abstract
改良された排出口を有するアンダードレインを提供する。
【解決手段】本発明は、改良された排出口を有するアンダードレインを提供する。アンダードレインは、単一ウエルおよびマイクロアレイ濾過装置の両方の構成において特に有用である。1つの主要な実施形態においては、アンダードレインは、直線的壁面の、きめの粗い排出口を組み込んでいることを特徴とし、この排出口は端部に1つまたは複数の微細孔を備えて、上記孔から流体を排出してアンダードレインに導く。このようなアンダードレインを複数有するアレイは、対応するウエル・アレイと結合し、またこのウエル・アレイ間に設けられる隔離材料(例えば、メンブレン材料)と結合できる。結果として得られるマイクロアレイ濾過装置を用いて、複数の流体分析物について、例えば優れた「液滴(ペンダント・ドロップ)」制御および少ない「漏れ」を同時に実現できる。

Claims (15)
- ウエルの底面に固定できるアンダードレインであって、ウエルとアンダードレインのほぼ間に隔離材料を有し、ウエル内の流体が最初に前記隔離材料に入り、それを通過後、アンダードレインに入り、最後にそこから流れ出ることができる流路を提供し、
アンダードレインは一体化構造であり、かつ上流側および下流側を有し、前記ウエルとの前記固定が前記上流側近くで可能であり、前記アンダードレインから出る流体流れが前記下流側近くで発生し、
アンダードレインは前記下流側に排出口を有し、
排出口は中心軸を有し、かつ内側側面、外側側面、ならびに内側端面および外側端面を有する底面を含み、内側側面は、ほぼ前記中心軸に沿って延びる前記排出口を通る流体流路を画定し、この流体流路は下流側の前記内側端面で終端し、前記排出口底面は、底面を貫通するかまたは底面の周辺に少なくとも1つの微細孔を有する、アンダードレイン。 - 前記排出口が複数の前記微細孔を有する、請求項1に記載のアンダードレイン。
- 前記微細孔の直径が約0.02mmから約0.76mmの範囲である、請求項1に記載のアンダードレイン。
- 前記外側側面がその下流側の最遠端から、前記流路の中間に相当する少なくとも1点まで、前記中心軸にほぼ平行に延びる、請求項1に記載のアンダードレイン。
- 前記外側側面がその下流側の最遠端から前記中心軸にほぼ平行に延びる距離が、約0.5mmから5.0mmの範囲である、請求項4に記載のアンダードレイン。
- 前記排出口の外側側面はきめの粗い微細構造を有することにより、前記外側側面の化学的に固有の疎水性を強化している、請求項1に記載のアンダードレイン。
- 対応するウエル・アレイに位置合わせして固定できるアンダードレイン・アレイであって、ウエル・アレイとアンダードレイン・アレイの間に伸張性を利用するかまたは個別に隔離材料を有し、請求項1に定義されるアンダードレインのアレイを含む、アンダードレイン・アレイ。
- 前記アンダードレイン・アレイが8×12アレイに配列された96の個別アンダードレインからなる、請求項7に記載のアンダードレイン・アレイ。
- 前記アンダードレイン・アレイが16×24アレイに配列された384の個別アンダードレインからなる、請求項7に記載のアンダードレイン・アレイ。
- ウエル・アレイを有するマイクロアレイ濾過装置であって、
(a)前記ウエルのそれぞれがアンダードレインを有し、
(b)隔離材料をこのようなマイクロアレイ濾過装置全体に個々に備えて、ウエル内の流体が最初に隔離材料に入り、それを通過後、前記ウエルのアンダードレインに入り、最後にそこから流れ出ることができるようにし、
(c)各アンダードレインは、上流側端部および下流側端部を有し、かつ前記下流側端部に設けられた排出口を有し、この排出口は、流体の流れを前記アンダードレインから流れ出ることを可能にしており、
(d)各排出口は中心軸を有し、かつ内側側面、外側側面、ならびに内側端面および外側端面を有する底面を含み、内側側面は、ほぼ前記中心軸に沿って延びる前記排出口を通る流体流路を画定し、この流体流路は下流側の前記内側端面で終端し、前記排出口底面は、底面を貫通するかまたは底面の周辺に少なくとも1つの微細孔を有する、マイクロアレイ濾過装置。 - 各アンダードレインが各ウエル上に連続的に形成されている、請求項10に記載のマイクロアレイ濾過装置。
- 前記隔離材料がメンブレンである、請求項11に記載のマイクロアレイ濾過装置。
- 各ウエルが約1ミリリットルから約5ミリリットルの範囲内の所定の最大容積容量を有する、請求項12に記載のマイクロアレイ濾過装置。
- ウエルの底面に固定できるアンダードレインであって、ウエルとアンダードレインのほぼ間に隔離材料を有し、ウエル内の流体が最初に前記隔離材料に入り、それを通過後、アンダードレインに入り、最後にそこから流れ出ることができる流路を提供し、
アンダードレインは一体化構造であり、かつ上流側および下流側を有し、前記ウエルとの前記固定が前記上流側近くで可能であり、前記アンダードレインから出る流体流れが前記下流側近くで発生し、
アンダードレインは前記下流側に排出口を有し、
