Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a cable with a connector in which a connector member is mounted on an electric cable and a method for manufacturing the same.
In recent years, in the field of the electronics industry, for example, electronic devices have been rapidly reduced in size, weight and functionality, and along with this, electric cables used when connecting electronic devices are also made thinner, Space saving is required.
Here, as such an electric cable, for example, a flat cable used in a connection portion between a personal computer body of a notebook personal computer and a liquid crystal display is known (for example, see Patent Document 1). Such a flat cable has a coaxial cable in which an insulator, an outer conductor, and a jacket are sequentially formed on the outer periphery of a central conductor, and a polyester adhesive tape is bonded to one side thereof. In such a flat cable, the insulator is removed by laser processing at a position away from the end of the flat cable to partially expose the outer conductor, and the ground bar is soldered so as to sandwich the exposed outer conductor. It is fixed by. And the connector for connecting the center conductor and external terminal which were exposed by removing an insulator, an external conductor, and a jacket is connected to the end of such a flat cable.
In addition to such a flat cable, for example, a probe cable used in a medical device or the like is known (see, for example, Patent Document 2). In this probe cable, a plurality of micro coaxial cable units made of a plurality of micro coaxial cables are rubbed together, and the outer periphery thereof is covered with a sheath, a shield conductor, and a jacket, respectively. A three-dimensional injection molded substrate (connector) is connected to the end of such a probe cable.
Specifically, two protruding protrusions are provided on the upper surface of the connector, and each of these protrusions is provided with a plurality of holes penetrating in the surface direction. In addition, ground wiring is provided on the surface of the region sandwiched between the convex portions of the substrate, and wiring is provided on the surface of one convex portion opposite to the ground wiring side. First, the sheath, shield conductor, and jacket at the end of the probe cable are removed to expose the fine coaxial cable, and then the central conductor of the fine coaxial cable is further exposed. Next, pass these micro coaxial cables through the connector holes to expose the shield conductors, and then solder the joints between the ground wiring and the shield conductor and the joints between the center conductor and the wiring together. Thus, the probe cable and the connector are electrically connected.
However, all of the cables with connectors described above are manufactured by manufacturing the coaxial cable and the connector separately and then electrically connecting them when assembling them. There is a problem that it increases, the productivity is poor, and the cost is high.
In the latter cable with a connector, the central conductor of the micro coaxial cable has to be passed through each hole of the connector one by one, and the work is very complicated, so that it takes a lot of work time. There is also a problem.
Furthermore, flat cables used in personal computers are provided at the bent portion between the personal computer body and the liquid crystal display and are subject to frequent bending action, so there is a demand for them to be as thin and durable as possible. With the thinning, there is a problem that sufficient bending resistance is not obtained.
In view of such circumstances, it is an object of the present invention to provide a connector-attached cable that can be manufactured with high productivity and can achieve a significant cost reduction, and a manufacturing method thereof.

And a step of forming an outer coating layer around at least the manufacturing cable connected to the connector member.

In the fifteenth aspect, it is possible to form an extremely thin flat cable having extremely good bending resistance.
According to a sixteenth aspect of the present invention, in any one of the ninth to fifteenth aspects, the outer coating layer is made of polyurethane, polyester, polyvinyl chloride, fluorine-based resin, polyimide-based resin, or polyolefin-based resin. And a method of manufacturing a cable with a connector.
In the sixteenth aspect, it is possible to manufacture a cable with a connector in which the cable is integrally covered with an outer covering layer made of a predetermined insulating material.
The cable with a connector of the present invention has a structure in which a plurality of cables each having an insulating layer on a conductor are arranged in parallel at a predetermined pitch.
Here, the conductor of the cable may be a single wire having a predetermined diameter, for example, a wire having a diameter of about 30 μm to 0.2 mm, or a stranded wire (multi-core wire), for example, a diameter of 10 to 80 μm. It may be a collection of a plurality of extra fine wires. In addition, the conductor material is not particularly limited as long as it has high conductivity, and examples thereof include a tin-containing copper alloy, a chromium-zirconium-containing copper alloy, or an in-situ fiber-reinforced copper alloy. A conductor made of an in-situ fiber reinforced copper alloy is preferable in terms of bending resistance.
Moreover, the conducting wire which consists of an in-situ fiber reinforced copper alloy is a copper matrix reinforced with a fiber, and especially refers to a wire formed by forming a fiber in situ, that is, in a step of forming a wire. For example, it refers to a wire containing in-situ formed fibrous chromium having a maximum diameter of 2.5 μm or less and an average diameter of 1.0 μm or less in a copper matrix.
For example, the in-situ fiber reinforced copper alloy conductor is formed by swaging, if necessary, an alloy material having a chromium content of 1 to 25% by weight and the balance being substantially copper, and then the first cold drawing. By performing wire processing, then solution treatment, and then performing a second cold wire drawing, a fibrous chrome is formed in situ in a copper matrix to obtain a wire, and at least one wire is used. It is obtained by forming a conducting wire. In addition, as an alloy material used as a material, it is not limited to what was mentioned above, for example, the content rate of chromium is 1 to 25 weight%, the content rate of silver or zirconium is 0.01 to 8 weight%, and the remainder is substantially. An alloy material made of copper can also be used.
The wire made of such a composite material can ensure high conductivity when current flows through the copper matrix, and mechanical strength can be ensured by fiber reinforcement, and has contradictory characteristics of high mechanical strength and high conductivity. Have both.
Examples of the insulator layer provided on the conductor in the present invention include a coating layer made of polyester, fluorine resin, polyimide resin, polyolefin resin, or the like, and enamel coating. However, fluororesin or polyethylene is preferred from the viewpoint of low dielectric constant, preferable for diameter reduction, and bending resistance, and fluororesin is most preferred.
In this invention, it has the outer conductor which consists of a metal plating layer in the outer periphery of an insulator layer. The metal plating layer will be described in detail later, but is preferably formed in a lump in a state where a plurality of cables are arranged in parallel.
In addition, the timing for performing metal plating is not particularly limited, and metal plating may be performed in a state where the cables are arranged side by side, and then a ground bar for metal plating of each cable may be joined, or a ground bar is provided. Thereafter, metal plating including the ground bar may be performed, but the latter is preferred. This is because the collective connection of the outer conductors of each cable can be reliably performed by forming metal plating.
Of course, it is not always necessary to provide the ground bar by joining, and the outer conductor of each cable may be connected to the ground wiring terminal of the connector member at the time of mounting the connector member. However, even when the ground bar is not provided, it is possible to reliably connect the external conductor and the ground wiring terminal together by performing metal plating with a part of the connector member attached. At this time, the connection between the conductor of each cable and the connection terminal can be reliably performed through metal plating. Further, the connection terminal may be formed by metal plating integrally with the conductor of the cable, and this metal plating may be performed in a process different from the process of forming the external conductor.
In the present invention, it is preferable to subject the insulator layer to a surface treatment before the metal plating. The surface treatment is not particularly limited as long as it roughens the surface, improves wettability of the surface, and improves the adhesion of the metal plating layer, but surface treatment by atmospheric pressure plasma treatment is preferable. This surface treatment may be performed for each cable, but may be performed in a lump in a state where the cables are arranged in parallel.
When the atmospheric pressure plasma treatment is performed, the hydrophobic surface of the insulating layer made of a fluorine-based resin becomes hydrophilic and wettability increases.
In addition, the wettability after such surface treatment is, for example, the contact angle with distilled water after atmospheric pressure plasma treatment of a fluorine wire having an outer diameter of 150 .mu. The degree is preferably lowered to 85 ° or less by treatment, and more preferably about 83 to 84 °. Here, the contact angle is, for example, a relative comparison value by a pseudo meniscus method. Specifically, when the sample is immersed in water, the liquid surface wets in a convex manner along the surface of the sample near the liquid surface. From the height h, the height h is measured by the following relational expression.
sinθ=1−(ρgh2/2γ)
[Formula 1]
sin θ = 1− (ρgh 2 / 2γ)
θ: Contact angle [°]
ρ: density of liquid [g / cm 3 ]
g: Gravity acceleration [cm / s 2 ]
γ: surface tension [mN / m]
In the meniscus method, which is one of the contact angle measurement methods, a flat plate sample is used. However, the wire sample shape used in the present invention is a cylindrical shape, and although the
The metal plating layer of the present invention is preferably formed to a thickness of 0.5 μm to 6 μm. If it is thinner than this, it will be difficult to act as a shield, and if it is thicker than this, it will be a problem in terms of bending resistance.
The metal plating layer of the present invention may be formed only by electroless plating, or a combination of electroless plating and electroplating. Moreover, you may form by dry methods, such as sputtering, CVD, and vacuum evaporation.
Examples of the metal plating layer include copper, silver, nickel, gold, etc., or composite plating or alloy plating thereof.
In the cable with a connector of the present invention, the outer cover layer that integrally connects the connector group and integrally covers the cable group is integrally formed with the connector member at least one end portion of the plurality of cables arranged in parallel at a predetermined pitch. It is provided.
Here, examples of the material for the outer coating layer include polyurethane, polyester, polyvinyl chloride, fluorine-based resin, polyimide-based resin, and polyolefin-based resin.
The cable with a connector of the present invention is provided with an outer coating layer after the connector member is mounted. Thus, by providing the outer coating layer after the connector member is mounted, the outer coating layer is integrated with the connector member. It is formed. Here, the term “integral” refers to a state in which the outer coating layer is provided on each cable until it is in close contact with the end face of the connector member, or a state in which a part or all of the connector member is covered.
On the other hand, in the method for manufacturing a cable with a connector according to the present invention, the cable and the connector member are simultaneously manufactured on the same line, and finally, at least the cable is integrally covered with the outer covering layer, and the cable and the connector are individually separated. Compared with the conventional manufacturing method, the number of manufacturing steps can be significantly reduced, and the cost can be greatly reduced.
Specifically, in the manufacturing method of the present invention, a plurality of manufacturing cables having an insulator layer around a single-wire or rubbing conductor are drawn in parallel, and then metal plating is performed on the insulator layer to provide an external conductor. Forming a connector member comprising a connection terminal and a ground wiring terminal connected to the external conductor to connect the conductor of the manufacturing cable and the external terminal to at least one end of the manufacturing cable group; and Forming an outer covering layer around a manufacturing cable connected to the connector member.
Here, the step of forming the outer conductor by performing metal plating is performed after the manufacturing cable is simply arranged in parallel, and then the conductor exposure and connector member mounting may be performed, or after the manufacturing cable is arranged in parallel. After joining the ground bar, metal plating including the ground bar may be applied, or after attaching a part of the connector member, for example, one of the connector members divided into two in the thickness direction (this stage is the connector Metal plating may be applied so as to be collectively connected to the ground connection terminal of the connector member. Further, when metal plating is performed after a part of the connector member is attached in this way, metal plating for integrally connecting the conductors of the cables and the connection terminals can be performed. At this time, the connection terminal may be formed by metal plating integrally with the conductor of the cable. Of course, the metal plating for integrally connecting the conductor and each connection terminal is a separate process from the process of forming the external conductor. You may go.
In the cable with a connector of the present invention, since the metal plating layer serving as a shield is formed collectively for the cable group, it is highly productive, and the outer covering layer of the cable is formed integrally with the connector. There is no risk of insulation failure and reliability is improved, and the connector member is attached together with the formation process of the outer conductor and outer coating layer, so that it can be manufactured with high productivity and cost reduction It has the effect of being able to.
Hereinafter, the best mode for carrying out the present invention will be described.
(Embodiment 1)
1A and 1B are a plan view and a cross-sectional view of a cable with a connector according to
In addition, in the state where a plurality of
In addition, for example, in this embodiment, the outer peripheral surfaces of the
Here, the
Further, each of the
In the
In this embodiment, the
Specifically, as shown in FIG. 2 (b), a pair of cables serving as cable holding portions for holding both ends of each
In addition, a pair of ground
Further, the
Further, the upper and
Furthermore, in the present embodiment, the
In this embodiment, an outer covering layer (sheath) 50 that integrally covers the
As described above, in the present embodiment, since the
Further, the
Since such a flat cable is used in a portion that receives frequent bending action such as a bent portion between a personal computer body and a liquid crystal display, it preferably has excellent bending resistance. For example, in this embodiment, an insulator is used. By using a fluorine-based resin, a polyimide-based resin, a polyolefin-based resin or the like as a material for forming the
Here, with reference to FIGS. 3-6, an example of the manufacturing method of the
First, as shown in FIG. 3A, a plurality of manufacturing cables 60 composed of the
Next, as shown in FIG. 4A, in the region between the
Next, as shown in FIG. 5A, the surface of the
Next, as shown in FIG. 5D, the
Next, as shown in FIG. 6A, a
As described above, in the method for manufacturing the cable with
(Embodiment 2)
FIG. 7 is a plan view and a side view of a cable with a connector according to Embodiment 2 of the present invention. In the first embodiment described above, the
Specifically, in the cable with
Accordingly, in the cable with
Of course, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, the outer coating layer may be provided so as to cover a part of the connector member, that is, the end of the connector member on the side where the cable protrudes. .
