【0045】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine or a printer.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, image forming apparatuses have been manufactured and sold in various forms. That is, there are various forms of image forming apparatuses, such as those having functions such as a printer, a copier, and a facsimile, or those used as a part of the system.
[0003]
These types of image forming apparatuses are manufactured to meet the needs of users. By the way, for example, in a copying machine and a printer, there is a demand for increasing the number of sheet feeding cassettes or increasing the capacity of the number of sheets fed while maintaining the size of the main body space as before. In such a case, a product in which two cassettes or decks smaller than the width of the main body are arranged on the left and right has been put on the market. The cassette of the main body width can flexibly cope with a size such as a small size of A4 size to a large size of A3 size, but when the A4 size is used, a wasteful space that is not used is formed.
[0004]
Therefore, a paper feed cassette or deck dedicated to small size up to A4 size is arranged on the left and right sides of the main body, and a cassette capable of dealing with large size is arranged below it to meet the demand (see Patent Document 1).
[0005]
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-07-277539 [0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, in order to achieve colorization in recent years in copying machines and printers, the volume occupied by the image forming unit becomes large, and in order to keep the size of the main body as conventional, the size of the paper supply main body space is the same as the conventional size. The capacity of the paper cassette must be reduced.
In addition, there is an increasing demand for more paper capacity in black and white machines. In addition, if a double-sided reversing path is provided on the side of the main body, the side door must be opened during paper jam handling, so there is a desire to access from the front side of the main body.
[0007]
As a means for solving this problem, an apparatus has been proposed which is used as a double-sided reversal conveyance path using a sheet feeder and a partition plate of both sides as shown in FIG.
[0008]
However, since the apparatus has a double-sided reverse conveyance path and a double-sided path on the paper feed conveyance path, a means for stably conveying the conveyance paper passing through the three paths is required. Therefore, in order to send it stably, a means for moving the gate with a solenoid to switch the conveyance path has been proposed.
[0009]
Incidentally, in recent years, demand for recycled paper has increased, and it is desired that 100% recycled paper can be passed. In this case, if a sheet having a large curl after fixing is to be fed, the step is caught unless the step L between the gate and the guide is taken as shown in FIG. Alternatively, there is a problem that the paper hits the belly of the pair of rollers downstream of the gate, leading to a paper jam due to the leading edge. However, if the step is taken, the contact angle between the sheet and the gate (θ1 → θ3, θ2 → θ4) is increased, and problems such as buckling occur. There is a way to enlarge the gate, but it takes up space and makes the main body larger. Therefore, it is necessary to have a highly stable configuration capable of transporting a sheet to the roller nip without being caught in a guide step while maintaining a space saving.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention has an external drive means and has a gate that can be held at two stop positions by the external drive means, and at one stop position, the sheet passes through the upper surface and the lower surface of the gate. When one of the gates is stopped, the sheet passes through the upper surface of the gate, and the upper and lower surfaces of the gate are covered with a sheet member.
[0011]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. 1 or FIG. FIG. 1 is a schematic sectional front view of a printer which is an image forming apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention.
FIG. 2 is a diagram of the inverting unit.
[0012]
The main body 101 of the printer 100 selectively supplies the sheet S on which an image is formed from the manual feed tray 1 or the sheet supply cassettes 2 and 2 onto the conveyance roller 3. Further, cassettes 150 and 151 capable of storing small-size sheet materials are positioned on the left and right sides of the apparatus main body, and the left cassette 150 is separated by the sheet feeding unit 152, and the feeding path 153 is used as an image forming unit. A toner image is formed on the surface of one electrophotographic photosensitive drum 4 corresponding to a signal of image information transmitted from a reader scanner, personal computer or the like (not shown). The toner image on the photosensitive drum 4 is sequentially transferred to the sheet supplied to the conveyance roller 3. The toner image is permanently fixed on the sheet by the fixing device 8.
[0013]
The sheet on which the monochrome or full-color image is formed is sent to the sheet reversing unit 102 mounted on the main body 101 of the printer 100, and discharged onto the sheet discharge tray 9 with the image forming surface facing up or down as necessary. Is done.
[0014]
Further, the printer 100 according to the present embodiment includes a double-sided sheet re-feeding path, and the sheet reversed by the sheet reversing unit 102 is sent to the conveying belt 3 through the path, and the image is again printed on the opposite side of the sheet. Can be formed.
[0015]
Further, the printer 100 according to the present embodiment is provided with an LED facing the surface of the photosensitive drum 4 as a light source device that forms a toner image on the surface of one photosensitive drum 4. The light source device is not limited to the LED, and there is a laser + polygon mirror system.
[0016]
Further, the number of photosensitive drums and developing devices is not limited to four, but can also be applied to a printer using four photosensitive drums and four developing devices, a photosensitive drum, and a monochrome device with one developing device. is there.
[0017]
As a characteristic configuration of the printer 100 according to the embodiment of the present invention, a sheet feeding cassette smaller than the main body width is provided on the left and right sides, and a member on the upper surface of the sheet feeding cassette is used for the duplex reversing conveyance path 22.
[0018]
Here, the configuration in the main body 102 of the printer 100 and the configuration of the transport path will be described with reference to FIGS.
[0019]
The sheet reversing unit 102 receives the sheet discharged from the sheet discharge outlet 31 of the printer 100 at the sheet receiving port 10. Immediately downstream of the sheet receiving port 10, a paper discharge gate 11, which is a conveyance selection unit that switches the sheet conveyance direction, is arranged to be tiltable.
[0020]
The outer paper discharge roller 20 is a roller for discharging the sheet on which image formation has been completed to the outside of the sheet reversing unit 102 from the sheet discharge port 17. The sheet receiving port 10 and the sheet discharge port 17 are connected by a sheet discharge path 32 which is a sheet discharge unit.
[0021]
The sheet receiving port 10 and the sheet discharge port 17 are also connected by a switchback reversing path 33 that reverses the sheet and guides the discharge. The switchback reversing path 33 is connected to the sheet receiving port 10 at one end of the Y-shaped bifurcated portion and is connected to the sheet discharge port 17 at the other end.
[0022]
In the retracting portion 33 a of the switchback reversing path 33, a paper discharge reversing roller 15 that is a sheet reversing unit is provided. The paper discharge reversing roller 15 once transports the sheet received from the sheet receiving port 10 to the retreat path 33 a and then reverses it to send it to the sheet discharge port 17. At this time, the sheet is guided to the sheet discharge port 17 by a guide piece 34 having elasticity provided at the branch portion 33b in the switchback reversing path 33 and having a free end at the tip.
[0023]
The guide piece 34 guides the sheet from the sheet receiving port 10 to the retracting portion 33a, but prevents the sheet from being guided from the retracting portion 33a to the sheet receiving port 10.
[0024]
In the above configuration, the switchback reverse path 33, the paper discharge reverse roller 15, the guide piece 34, etc. constitute the sheet reverse discharge means 35.
[0025]
A switchback reversing path 41 is connected to the retracting portion 33 a of the switchback reversing path 33 so that the sheet is reversed and sent back to the main body 101. The switchback inversion path 41 is formed in a Y shape. One end portion of the Y-shaped fork is connected to the downstream end of the retracting portion 33 a of the switchback reversing path 33, and the other end portion is connected to the sheet delivery port 18 that feeds the sheet into the main body 101. ing. The sheet delivery port 18 is a guide port that guides the sheet that has been turned upside down to the main body 101 of the printer 100 again.
[0026]
A reversing portion 41 a of the switchback reversing path 41 is provided with a double-side reversing roller 16 that is a sheet reversing and conveying means. The double-side reversing roller 16 is received from the sheet receiving port 10, and once the sheet that has passed through the retreating portion 33 a of the switchback reversing path 33 is conveyed to the retreating path 41 a, the sheet is reversed and sent to the sheet delivery opening 18. ing. At this time, the sheet is guided to the sheet delivery port 18 by an elastic guide piece 42 provided at the branch portion 41b of the switchback reversing path 41 and having a free end at the tip.
[0027]
The guide piece 42 guides the sheet from the retracting part 33a of the switchback reversing path 33 to the retracting part 41a of the switchback reversing path 41, but from the retracting part 41a of the switchback reversing path 41 to the retracting part 33a of the switchback reversing path 33. The seat guidance is blocked.
[0028]
A sheet retracting port 19 is formed at the downstream end of the retracting portion 41 a of the switchback reversing path 41. When the sheet is reversed, the sheet retracting port 19 is configured such that when the sheet is long with respect to the length L2 of the retracting portion 41a from the reversal stop position P2 when the sheet is switched back, the long portion of the main body 101 is removed. A reversing retraction sensor 23 for detecting the presence of a sheet in the sheet retraction path 22 is provided, but no means for conveying the sheet is provided.
[0029]
A reverse sensor 14 is provided between the paper discharge reverse roller 15 and the double-side reverse roller 16.
[0030]
In the above configuration, the switchback reversing path 41, the reversing paper discharge roller 16, the guide piece 42, etc. constitute a sheet reversing return means 43.
[0031]
Subsequently, the characteristic points will be described in detail (FIG. 1).
[0032]
First, in the present invention, the main body left paper feed unit is introduced into the double-sided conveyance path to save space on the conveyance path. If an attempt is made to simply cross the double-sided reverse conveyance path and join the double-side conveyance path, a conveyance failure such as paper catching easily occurs at the intersection 200, so the gate 201 is disposed in the present invention.
[0033]
In FIG. 3, there are two types of directions of the sheet P entering the intersection 200 of the two conveyance paths, the A direction and the B direction. The intersection 200 has a single-sided image formed as in the embodiment and the sheet entering from the A direction has a large curl (bending) depending on the type of the sheet material, and is caught at the corners c and d of the four corners of the intersection 200. there is a possibility. The sheet P coming from the one-way B direction may be caught by b and c among the four corners of the intersection 200. The catching at the corners b and d can be avoided by an arrangement that includes a step with the corner a.
For example, the gap between a and b and a and d is about 30 to 70% narrower than the normal guide gap to regulate the transport position of the sheet P. Avoid getting caught by making enough. However, the catch at the corner c is from two directions, and in some cases it cannot be saved. In the heat fixing device, since heat is applied to the image surface side of the sheet, plain paper and thin paper (basis weight 90 g / m 2 or less) heat curl is convex on the image surface side and easily caught at the corner c.
[0034]
Therefore, the switching gate 201 is disposed at the corner c. Then, the leading edge of the curled sheet P can be guided and conveyed as shown in FIG. Further, since the rotation center 204 of the gate 201 is provided in the region c, the configuration of the gate 201 can be simplified and the operation range of the gate 201 can be reduced. Therefore, further space saving is possible. When transporting from the left paper feed cassette, as shown in FIG. 5, the gate 201 is rotated downward and transported without a step.
[0035]
Next, the configuration of the gate 201 will be described. The rotation center of the gate 201 is provided downstream from the left paper feed path and the double-side reversing path. Therefore, since the single-sided printing is performed but the back side of the image surface is guided, even if the sheet is in a hot state after fixing, image rubbing and image defects such as image streaks are not caused.
[0036]
Next, the elastic member attached to the front and back of the gate 201 will be described.
[0037]
When the humidity of 100% recycled paper is high (eg rainy season), it becomes a lower curl after fixing. In that case, it will enter into the gap between the gate 201 and the downstream guide. (O, P in FIG. 6) A method of preventing a catch by taking a step between the gate 201 and the downstream guide is generally used, but the gate 201 is movable up and down, so that the step cannot be taken much.
[0038]
Further, since the paper path from the left deck storage is made strict, the step on the upper surface of the gate 201 cannot be taken much.
[0039]
Therefore, in order to prevent paper jam due to the terrible paper of the lower curl entering the gap, it is proposed to seal the gap by attaching sheet members 300 and 301 to the upper and lower surfaces of the gate 201 as shown in FIG. . The sheet member may be any member having elasticity such as PET and having good surface roughness.
[0040]
The sheet member covers the roller 302 of the roller pair. As a result, the sheet from the double-sided path can be stably fed into the nip of the roller pair.
[0041]
Although the movement of the gate 201 has been described previously, as shown in FIG. 8, since the sheet member is an elastic body, even if the gate 201 moves up and down, it is possible to cover the gap and to cover the top of the roller. Can be achieved.
[0042]
FIG. 9 shows another embodiment of the gate portion. Since the above-described embodiment covers the gap and is effective in conveying stability, the sheet member is worn out when it becomes a long-life machine, and there is a troublesomeness that must be replaced as a consumable item.
[0043]
In addition, when an ultra-high speed machine is used, the sheet member deteriorates when a sheet with insufficient cooling after fixing hits the sheet member millions of times. Become.
[0044]
Therefore, as shown in FIG. 9, it is proposed to prevent catching even in a sheet having a large lower curl by alternately inserting a gate and a downstream guide into a skewer shape 400 and inserting them in a staggered shape.
[0045]
【The invention's effect】
According to the proposal of the present invention, it is possible to provide an image forming apparatus that can increase the number of sheets stored and achieve both conveyance.
