Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a capsule endoscope that is carried into a subject and images the inside of the subject, and a capsule endoscope system that uses the capsule endoscope.
Conventionally, an illuminating unit including a light emitting body such as an LED, an imaging unit including a solid-state imaging device such as a CCD (Charge Coupled Diode), and image data obtained by the imaging unit are wirelessly transmitted to the outside. A capsule endoscope system that acquires image information inside a subject using a capsule endoscope in which a radio unit and a power source that supplies electric power to these are housed in a small capsule-shaped case Proposed. Specifically, the capsule endoscope system is provided with a reception antenna in addition to the capsule endoscope described above, and is necessary for a reception jacket worn by a subject at the time of use and data received by the reception jacket. An external device that performs processing, a display unit that displays an image in the body cavity based on image data, and a portable recording medium used for the purpose of data exchange between the external device and the display unit are provided.
。 In the capsule endoscope system, image information inside the subject is acquired according to the following process. First, the capsule endoscope is carried into the subject when the subject swallows it. The capsule endoscope carried into the subject moves within the body cavity using the peristaltic motion of the digestive tract, and images the inside of the body cavity, for example, the intestinal wall, etc. at predetermined time intervals, for example, 0.5 second intervals. To obtain image data (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
Then, after performing necessary modulation and the like on the acquired image data, the image data is transmitted to the outside by the wireless unit. The transmitted data is received by the receiving jacket, and after the necessary processing is performed by the external device, the image data is transferred to the display device via the portable recording medium, and the body cavity image is displayed on the screen of the display device. Is done.
By the way, the capsule endoscope carried into the subject as described above moves in the body cavity using the peristaltic motion of the digestive tract. For this reason, the moving speed of the capsule endoscope in the body cavity varies depending on the subject or even the same subject depending on the physical condition of the subject, and the capsule endoscope stays in the body. Time will fluctuate.
Therefore, in some cases, the capsule endoscope stays in the subject for a long time, so that the power supplied from the power source is consumed, and the subsequent imaging / wireless transmission operation becomes impossible. Have It is possible to solve the problem by incorporating a large-capacity power source in the capsule endoscope, but in reality it is possible to realize a small-sized and large-capacity power source that can be built into a capsule endoscope. This is extremely difficult, and even if it can be realized, a new problem such as an increase in manufacturing cost arises.
Further, the conventional capsule endoscope has a configuration in which the imaging operation is uniformly performed at predetermined time intervals as described above. However, with such a configuration, for example, when the capsule endoscope stays at the same location for a certain period of time, the same location is continuously imaged, and the resulting image data has only low value as information. I don't have it.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described problems of the prior art, and provides a capsule endoscope and a capsule endoscope system in which power consumption is reduced by efficiently performing imaging and wireless transmission operations. The input charge is moved in the row direction only when the charge obtained in the photoelectric conversion means to which it belongs is output from the vertical shift register.
According to the invention of claim 6, the electric signal corresponding to the row to which the photoelectric conversion means for outputting the light intensity belongs and the row shifted by one stage downstream in the electric signal moving direction of the vertical shift register is output to the horizontal shift register. It is performed through a recording medium.
In the capsule endoscope according to the present invention, the light receiving sensor means for detecting the light characteristic of the incident light and the driving state of the imaging means etc. are controlled based on the detected fluctuation of the light characteristic.

Next, the operation of the
First, the
Then, the received light
When the difference value in all of the light receiving sensor units 11a to 11d is less than the threshold value, the power supply to the
On the other hand, when at least one of the received light intensities in the light receiving sensor units 11a to 11d has a difference value equal to or larger than the threshold value, power supply to the
Thereafter, the
Thereafter, the image data transmitted from the
In the first embodiment, the
As described above, since the conventional capsule endoscope has a configuration in which the imaging operation is repeated at a predetermined time interval, when the capsule endoscope stops moving in the body cavity, the imaging operation for the same region is performed. Will be repeated. Therefore, when the capsule endoscope stops in the body cavity, imaging and wireless transmission are performed a plurality of times for the same image, and there is a problem that waste occurs in terms of power consumption. In order to solve such a problem, the capsule endoscope system according to the first embodiment is provided with a mechanism for determining whether or not the
Generally, the gastrointestinal tract wall inside the body cavity has a shape that is rich in irregularities, and generally has different shapes in different regions. For this reason, when light of a certain intensity is irradiated onto the digestive tract wall, when different areas are irradiated, the light intensity received by the light receiving
In the first embodiment using such a phenomenon, using this phenomenon, the

(Embodiment 2)
Next, a capsule endoscope system according to the second embodiment will be described. The capsule endoscope system according to the second embodiment has a configuration in which a part of an imaging unit including a CCD is used as a light receiving sensor unit.
FIG. 6 is a block diagram illustrating a configuration of the capsule endoscope that configures the capsule endoscope system according to the second embodiment. The overall configuration of the capsule endoscope system according to the second embodiment is the same as that of the first embodiment, and the specific structure of the capsule endoscope has the light receiving
As shown in FIG. 6, the capsule endoscope according to the second embodiment includes an illuminating
The
Next, the configuration of the imaging / light receiving
As illustrated in FIG. 7, the solid-state imaging device 20 a is formed by
The
The transfer gates 23a to 23d are for controlling the movement of charges from the
The vertical shift registers 24 to 27 are for moving charges in the column direction. Specifically, the
The
The
As described above, the solid-state imaging device 20a includes photoelectric conversion elements arranged in a matrix, a vertical shift register that moves charges in the column direction, and a horizontal shift register that moves charges in the row direction, as shown in FIG. , Each of which operates with emphasis, has a function of capturing a light image formed through the imaging lens and outputting it from the amplifying unit 30 as continuous data.
Next, a case where the imaging / light receiving
FIG. 8 is a time chart showing a vertical drive pulse and a horizontal drive pulse applied to the solid-state imaging device 20a when the image pickup / light
In the example of FIG. 7, the data necessary when the imaging / light receiving
In the second embodiment, a horizontal drive pulse is oscillated corresponding to the vertical drive pulse oscillated at time t M−1 . By oscillating the horizontal drive pulse in response to time t M−1 , the charges moved by the vertical drive pulse oscillated from time t 2 to t M−1 are discharged, and the vertical oscillation oscillated at time t M. The charge held in the
Next, the operation of the capsule endoscope at the time of use of the capsule endoscope system according to the second embodiment will be described. FIG. 9 is a flowchart for explaining the operation of the capsule endoscope that moves in the body cavity. Hereinafter, the operation will be described with reference to FIG. In the capsule endoscope, the switching unit 13 is in an on state at the start.
First, the imaging / light-receiving
Thereafter, the received light
If it is determined in step S204 that the difference value is equal to or larger than the threshold value, the switching control unit 21c turns on the switching unit 13, and the drive switching
Thereafter, the
Next, step S203 in FIG. 9, that is, the light reception / photoelectric conversion processing of the reflected light when the imaging / light
First, light is incident on the
Then, by changing the energy barrier of the transfer gate 23, as shown in FIG. 11A, the charge generated in the
Thereafter, a vertical drive pulse is oscillated, and the charges held in the vertical shift registers 24 to 27 move step by step (step S303). That is, as shown in FIG. 11B, the charges held in the well-
Then, a horizontal drive pulse is oscillated, and the electric charge held in the
Thereafter, the vertical drive pulse is again oscillated (M−2) times, and the charges held in the vertical shift registers 24 to 27 move toward the
Then, the horizontal drive pulse is oscillated the number of times corresponding to the number of columns N, and the charge accumulated in the
Thereafter, the vertical drive pulse is oscillated once, and the charges held in the last well potentials 24f to 27f of the vertical shift registers 24 to 27 in step S306 are moved to the horizontal shift register 28 (step S307). Specifically, the same operation as in step S303 is performed, and the charge obtained in the photoelectric conversion elements in the first row by this step moves to the
Finally, the horizontal drive pulse is oscillated the number of times corresponding to the number of columns N, and the charge held in the
Next, advantages of the capsule endoscope system according to the second embodiment will be described. First, in the capsule endoscope system according to the second embodiment, in the same manner as in the first embodiment, when the difference value of the received light intensity in the light receiving sensor mode is equal to or smaller than the threshold value, the imaging operation and image of the body cavity image are performed. Data transmission is not performed. Therefore, the capsule endoscope system according to the second embodiment suppresses performing imaging and wireless transmission a plurality of times for the same region, thereby realizing reduction in power consumption.
In the second embodiment, the capsule endoscope is provided with not only an imaging function but also a light receiving sensor function in the imaging / light receiving
Further, in the second embodiment, the horizontal drive pulse in the light receiving sensor mode of the imaging / light receiving
Therefore, in the second embodiment, it is possible to reduce power consumption by reducing the number of oscillations of the horizontal drive pulse in the light receiving sensor mode as compared with the imaging mode. In particular, since the solid-state imaging device 20a actually mounted on the capsule endoscope has a structure including a large number of photoelectric conversion elements in order to obtain a high-resolution intracavity image, the number M of rows of photoelectric conversion elements is M. The number of columns N is an enormous value of about several hundred to thousands. For this reason, the second embodiment that oscillates the horizontal driving pulse corresponding to 3 rows × N columns greatly reduces the power consumption compared to the case where the light receiving sensor mode is realized by the normal imaging operation. Is possible.
In the second embodiment, when the imaging / light receiving
(Modification)
Next, a modification of the capsule endoscope system according to the second embodiment will be described. In this modification, the received light intensity is compared only for the light received by the

(Embodiment 3)
Next, a capsule endoscope system according to the third embodiment will be described. The capsule endoscope system according to the third embodiment has a configuration in which a CMOS structure is used as a solid-state imaging device that constitutes an imaging unit, and the imaging unit configured as described above has a function as a light receiving sensor unit. .
FIG. 13 is a block diagram schematically illustrating a configuration of a capsule endoscope that forms a capsule endoscope system according to the third embodiment. The specific structure of the capsule endoscope is the same as that of the second embodiment except for the structure of the solid-state imaging device, and the overall configuration of the capsule endoscope system is the same as in the first and the second embodiments. This is the same as in the second mode.
As shown in FIG. 13, the capsule endoscope according to the third embodiment includes an
The
Next, the solid-state imaging device that constitutes the imaging / light receiving
The
The
As an example, the
On the other hand, when the imaging / light receiving
Next, the operation of the capsule endoscope in the capsule endoscope system according to the third embodiment will be described. FIG. 15 is a flowchart for explaining the operation of the capsule endoscope. Hereinafter, the operation will be described with reference to FIG.
First, the imaging / light receiving
Thereafter, a light receiving / photoelectric conversion process is performed on light incident on the capsule endoscope as reflected light of the irradiation light (step S403). Specifically, the
Then, the received light
As described above, in the capsule endoscope system according to the third embodiment, as in the first and second embodiments, when the difference value of the received light intensity in the light receiving sensor mode is equal to or less than the threshold value, the in-vivo image The imaging operation and the transmission of image data are not performed. For this reason, it is possible to reduce power consumption.
In the third embodiment, since the solid-state imaging device is formed of CMOS, there is an advantage that voltage signals can be easily output when the imaging / light receiving
As mentioned above, although this invention was demonstrated over Embodiment 1-3, this invention is not limited to said thing, Those skilled in the art can come up with various Examples, a modification, and an application example. It is. For example, in the first to third embodiments, the display device 6 is configured to display an image on a display such as a CRT. However, the display device 6 is not limited to such a configuration, and the image is printed on a medium such as paper. It may be configured by a printer or the like. In addition, the display device 6 simply displays the input image data, but may be configured to perform predetermined image processing as necessary, for example. Further, the display device 6 may have a configuration including a large-capacity storage device for the purpose of recording image data, and image data captured in the past may be referred to.
In the first to third embodiments, image data transmitted from the
Furthermore, in the first to third embodiments, data transfer between the external device 4 and the display device 6 is performed via the
In the first to third embodiments, the power supply to the wireless unit 10 (the
Further, in the first to third embodiments, a difference may be provided between the intensity of light emitted from the illuminating
Furthermore, in the first to third embodiments, the intensity of light incident on the capsule endoscope is used as a determination criterion, but other optical characteristics may be used as a criterion. For example, the imaging operation may be performed when the wavelength, color coordinates, and the like of incident light differ from each other by a threshold value or more compared to the previous light irradiation.
In the first to third embodiments, the switching unit 13 is in the on state in the normal state, and the state is changed to the off state when the intensity difference of the reflected light becomes less than the threshold value. However, the switching unit 13 may be maintained in the off state in the normal state, and may be changed to the on state only after it is determined that the intensity of the reflected light is equal to or higher than the threshold value. In any case, it is possible to reduce the power consumption as compared with the case where the variation in the optical characteristics of the incident light is not taken into consideration.
Furthermore, in Embodiments 1 to 3, the capsule endoscope is configured to capture an optical image in the body cavity. However, for example, a capsule endoscope may have a structure with a built-in ultrasonic transducer, and an ultrasonic image may be acquired at the time of imaging.
