特許文献1では、座部を取り外して洗浄がし易い効果があり、特許文献2においては、車椅子の使用中に、バックレストシートの上下の位置あるいはヒップレストシートの前後の位置がずれるといった不都合がなくなるという効果を有するものである。しかし、従来の張りベルト付きの座部(クッション等)は張り調整を行う場合に、ベルトを弛めると座位が中心よりずれるために、ずれを調整しながら張りベルトを両側のフレームに合わせて、固定する必要があった。特に、座部(クッション等)を中心にもってくるのが難しく、一度、座って調整しなければならないと云う問題点があった。このために、座部を未だ搭乗者の体の状態、疾患の状態、体型、あるいは車椅子の長さや幅に合わせて、座部や背もたれの角度や長さを簡単に調節出来るものがなく、その出現が望まれていた。
