TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a carbon dioxide sensitive material for detecting the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) and a carbon dioxide sensor using the same.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, there has been an increasing need to continuously measure the concentration of carbon dioxide in many fields such as environmental protection of airtight spaces, plant cultivation in greenhouses, and monitoring of atmospheric concentrations related to environmental problems. Usually, a carbon dioxide sensor is used for measuring the carbon dioxide concentration. The carbon dioxide sensor uses a material that can adsorb carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and measures the concentration of carbon dioxide by utilizing the fact that the electric conductivity of this material changes with the concentration of carbon dioxide.
[0003]
However, most conventional carbon dioxide sensors require measurement conditions of 400 ° C. or higher, and it has been difficult to continuously and accurately measure the carbon dioxide concentration near room temperature.
[0004]
In order to solve such a problem, Patent Document 1 discloses a composite film for a gas sensor including a conductive polymer capable of taking in hydrogen carbonate ions (HCO 3 − ) as a dopant and an insulating polymer capable of absorbing water and retaining water. Has been proposed. In this composite membrane, water and carbon dioxide held by the insulating polymer react with each other, and hydrogen carbonate ions generated by the dissociation parallel are taken into the conductive polymer. Change. Therefore, the concentration of carbon dioxide can be measured by measuring the electric conductivity of the composite film.

JP 2000-322232 A
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, Patent Document 1 merely confirms the operation, and does not sufficiently consider a material such as a conductive polymer or an insulating polymer to be used. For example, in Patent Literature 1, polyaniline is used as the conductive polymer. However, since polyaniline has low solubility in a solvent, it is difficult to uniformly mix the materials. Therefore, there is a problem that the film-forming property is poor, the carbon dioxide-sensitive film may be peeled off from the substrate, and the uniformity of the carbon dioxide-sensitive film is low and stable and high characteristics cannot be obtained.
[0007]
The present invention has been made in view of such a problem, and an object of the present invention is to provide a carbon dioxide sensitive material and a carbon dioxide sensor capable of obtaining stable and high characteristics.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The first carbon dioxide sensitive material according to the present invention contains a polythiophene derivative.
[0009]
The second carbon dioxide-sensitive material according to the present invention is capable of incorporating bicarbonate ions as a dopant, and includes a conductive polymer exhibiting conductivity when hydrogencarbon ions are incorporated, and an insulating polymer having hygroscopicity. Wherein the conductive polymer contains a polythiophene derivative.
[0010]
A carbon dioxide sensor according to the present invention has a pair of electrodes and a carbon dioxide sensitive film electrically connected to the pair of electrodes, and the carbon dioxide sensitive film is made of the carbon dioxide sensitive material described above. Things.
[0011]
In the carbon dioxide sensitive material and the carbon dioxide sensor according to the present invention, since the polythiophene derivative is used, the solubility in the solvent is high, the homogeneity is improved, and the characteristics are improved.
[0012]
In the second carbon dioxide-sensitive material according to the present invention, the conductive polymer takes in bicarbonate ions generated by the reaction between carbon dioxide and water held by the insulating polymer, so that electric conductivity and charge capacity are obtained. Alternatively, the fact that the AC impedance changes may be used. The carbon dioxide sensor according to the present invention may have a detecting means for detecting the carbon dioxide concentration from the change.
[0013]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
[0014]
The carbon dioxide-sensitive material according to one embodiment of the present invention includes a conductive polymer capable of taking in hydrogen carbonate ions as a dopant, and an insulating polymer having a hygroscopic property. It has a characteristic that electrical characteristics such as conductivity, charge capacity, and AC impedance change.
[0015]
The conductive polymer only needs to show conductivity when hydrogen carbonate ions are taken in, and may be either insulating or conductive when hydrogen carbonate ions are not taken in. In the present embodiment, a polythiophene derivative is included as the conductive polymer. This is because the polythiophene derivative has higher solubility in a solvent than polyaniline, polythiophene, or the like, and can improve homogeneity.
[0016]
As the polythiophene derivative, for example, those having an alkyl group as shown in Chemical formula 1 are preferable. Specifically, for example, poly-3-hexylthiophene shown in Chemical Formula 2, poly-3-dodecylthiophene shown in Chemical Formula 3, poly-3-butylthiophene shown in Chemical Formula 4, poly-3-octylthiophene shown in Chemical Formula 5, or Chemical Formula 6 And poly-3-decylthiophene. In Chemical Formulas 2 to 6, m1, m2, m3, m4 and m5 are each a number of 2 or more.

As the conductive polymer, any one of the above-described polythiophene derivatives may be used alone, or a mixture of two or more may be used. Further, it may be constituted only by the above-mentioned polythiophene derivative, but may be used by mixing other materials. Other materials include, for example, polyaniline, polyaniline derivatives, heterocyclic polymers such as polythiophene and polypyrrole, and polyphenylene-based polymers such as polyparaphenylene.
[0024]
The insulating polymer is for reacting carbon dioxide with retained water to generate hydrogen carbonate ions. Examples of such an insulating polymer include polyvinyl alcohol shown in Chemical formula 7, polyacrylic acid shown in Chemical formula 8, polyvinyl pyrrolidone shown in Chemical formula 9, and polyethylene glycol shown in Chemical formula 10. In Chemical Formulas 7 to 10, n1, n2, n3 and n4 are each a number of 2 or more. As the insulating polymer, any one kind may be used alone, or two or more kinds may be used in combination. [0029]
The ratio between the conductive polymer and the insulating polymer is preferably such that the mass ratio (conductive polymer / insulating polymer) of the conductive polymer to the insulating polymer is 1 or less, and is 1/3 or less. Is more preferable. This is because the smaller the mass ratio is, the larger the gradient indicating changes in the electric conductivity, the charge capacity, and the AC impedance with respect to the carbon dioxide concentration becomes, and higher accuracy can be obtained. However, if the mass ratio is too small, the electrical characteristics will not change unless the concentration of bicarbonate ion is significantly increased in any case, and the measurement sensitivity is undesirably reduced. Specifically, it is preferable that the mass ratio be 1/7 or more, and it is more preferable that the mass ratio be 1/6 or more.
[0030]
This carbon dioxide sensitive material is used, for example, in the following carbon dioxide sensor.
[0031]
FIG. 1 shows a configuration of a carbon dioxide sensor 10 according to one embodiment of the present invention. The carbon dioxide sensor 10 is provided on an insulating substrate 11 so as to be electrically connected to the pair of comb-shaped electrodes 12 and 13 provided to face each other with a gap therebetween. And a carbon dioxide sensitive film 14 made of the carbon dioxide sensitive material according to the present embodiment.
[0032]
The insulating substrate 11 is made of, for example, glass, plastic such as phenol resin or epoxy resin, ceramic such as aluminum oxide, or a metal plate insulated with resin. Among them, aluminum oxide is preferable because of its high mechanical strength, insulating properties and stability. The electrodes 12 and 13 are configured to include, for example, a metal material such as gold (Au) or an oxide such as ruthenium oxide (RuO 2 ).
[0033]
Electrode terminals 15 and 16 are respectively attached to one ends of the electrodes 12 and 13, and lead wires 17 and 18 are connected to the electrode terminals 15 and 16 by a solder layer 19, respectively. The electrode terminals 15 and 16 are preferably made of a material compatible with solder, for example, a metal material such as a silver-palladium (Ag-Pd) alloy.
[0034]
Although not shown, the carbon dioxide sensor 10 may include a detection unit that detects a carbon dioxide concentration from a change in electrical characteristics such as electric conductivity, charge capacity, or AC impedance of the carbon dioxide sensitive film 14. The detection means (not shown) is electrically connected to the carbon dioxide sensitive film 14 via the lead wires 17 and 18.
[0035]
The carbon dioxide sensor 10 can be manufactured, for example, as follows. First, a polythiophene derivative and an insulating polymer are mixed using a solvent such as tetrahydrofuran to prepare a mixed solution. In this case, when a material other than the polythiophene derivative is used as the conductive polymer, the materials are mixed together to form a mixed solution. In this embodiment mode, since a polythiophene derivative is used as the conductive polymer, the solubility in a solvent is high, and the conductive polymer and the insulating polymer are easily and uniformly mixed.
[0036]
Next, the prepared mixed solution is applied on, for example, the insulating substrate 11 on which the electrodes 12 and 13 are formed, and dried to remove the solvent, thereby forming the carbon dioxide sensitive film 14. In the present embodiment, since the mixed solution is uniformly mixed, a uniform and good carbon dioxide sensitive film 14 having high film forming properties is formed. Subsequently, the electrode terminals 15 and 16 are attached to the electrodes 12 and 13, respectively, and the lead wires 17 and 18 are connected to the electrode terminals 15 and 16 by the solder layer 19, respectively. Thereafter, if necessary, a detection unit (not shown) is connected to the lead wires 17 and 18 by wiring (not shown). Thereby, the carbon dioxide sensor 10 shown in FIG. 1 is obtained.
[0037]
In the carbon dioxide sensor 10, the insulating polymer has a hygroscopic property, so that the carbon dioxide sensitive film 14 holds water. The carbon dioxide in the atmosphere reacts with the water held in the carbon dioxide-sensitive membrane 14 to generate hydrogen carbonate ions by dissociation equilibrium as shown in Chemical Formula 11.
[0038]
Embedded image
[0039]
The generated bicarbonate ions are doped into the conductive polymer in the carbon dioxide sensitive film 14. For example, in the case of the above-described polythiophene derivative, a hydrogen carbonate ion is bonded to the thiophene ring. As a result, electric characteristics such as electric conductivity, charge capacity, and AC impedance of the carbon dioxide sensitive film 14 change according to the doping number of hydrogen carbonate ions. For example, the above-described polythiophene derivative does not have conductivity in a state where bicarbonate ions are not doped, but has higher conductivity as the number of bicarbonate ions doped increases. Therefore, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is measured by measuring electric characteristics such as electric conductivity, charge capacity, and AC impedance.
[0040]
In particular, in the present embodiment, since a polythiophene derivative is used as the conductive polymer, a high-quality carbon dioxide sensitive film 14 can be obtained, peeling and the like can be suppressed, and characteristics such as sensitivity can be improved by improving homogeneity. I do.
[0041]
In addition, if the charge capacity or the AC impedance is measured as the electric characteristic, the carbon dioxide concentration can be measured with high accuracy even in a high humidity state of 50% or more. The electric conductivity is easily affected by humidity. When the humidity exceeds 50%, the relationship between the carbon dioxide concentration and the electric conductivity does not show a linear shape, whereas the charge capacity and the AC impedance are affected by the humidity. Because it is difficult.
[0042]
As described above, according to the present embodiment, since the polythiophene derivative is used, the solubility in the solvent can be increased, and the materials can be uniformly mixed. Therefore, the film-forming property of the carbon dioxide sensitive film 14 can be improved, peeling can be suppressed, and the homogeneity of the carbon dioxide sensitive film 14 can be increased, and the sensitivity and the like can be improved. Therefore, stable and high characteristics can be obtained.
[0043]
【Example】
Further, specific examples of the present invention will be described in detail. In the following examples, a carbon dioxide sensor 10 having the structure shown in FIG. 1 was manufactured and its characteristics were evaluated. Therefore, the following embodiment will be described with reference to FIG. 1 using the same reference numerals.
[0044]
(Example 1)
First, after dissolving the powder of poly-3-hexylthiophene shown in Chemical formula 2 in tetrahydrofuran as a solvent, polyethylene glycol as an insulating polymer was added thereto and further mixed to obtain a mixed solution. At that time, the mass ratio of poly-3-hexylthiophene to polyethylene glycol (poly-3-hexylthiophene / polyethylene glycol) was set to 1/3.
[0045]
Next, an insulating substrate 11 made of an aluminum oxide ceramic was prepared, and a paste containing ruthenium oxide and glass frit was screen-printed on the insulating substrate 11 and fired to form electrodes 12 and 13. Subsequently, the prepared mixed solution was applied on the side of the insulating substrate 11 on which the electrodes 12 and 13 were formed, and the solvent was removed by vacuum drying to form a carbon dioxide sensitive film 14. After that, the electrode terminals 15 and 16 were attached to the electrodes 11 and 12, and the lead wires 17 and 18 were attached to the electrode terminals 15 and 16 with the solder layer 19 to obtain the carbon dioxide sensor 10.
[0046]
The obtained carbon dioxide sensor 10 was mounted on the measurement cell 20 shown in FIG. 2, and the alternating current impedance was measured while flowing carbon dioxide gas and water vapor. The temperature was 25 ° C. and the humidity was 95% RH. FIG. 3 shows the relationship between the frequency and the AC impedance for each carbon dioxide concentration.
[0047]
As shown in FIG. 3, according to Example 1, a change in the AC impedance was observed in a wide range of the measurement frequency according to the carbon dioxide concentration. That is, it was found that high characteristics can be obtained by using the polythiophene derivative.
[0048]
(Example 2)
A carbon dioxide sensor 10 was produced in the same manner as in Example 1, except that poly 3-dodecyl thiophene shown in Chemical formula 3 was used instead of poly 3-hexyl thiophene. The AC impedance of the carbon dioxide sensor 10 of Example 2 was measured in the same manner as in Example 1. FIG. 4 shows the relationship between the frequency and the AC impedance for each carbon dioxide concentration.
[0049]
As shown in FIG. 4, in Example 2, as in Example 1, a change in the AC impedance was observed in a wide range of the measurement frequency according to the carbon dioxide concentration. That is, it was found that high characteristics could be obtained even when other polythiophene derivatives were used.
[0050]
As described above, the present invention has been described with reference to the embodiment and the example. However, the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment and example, and can be variously modified. For example, in the above embodiments and examples, the structure of the carbon dioxide sensor has been specifically described. However, another layer may be provided between the insulating substrate 11 and the carbon dioxide sensitive film 14, or on the carbon dioxide sensitive film 14. The electrodes 12 and 13 may have other shapes.
[0051]
Further, in the carbon dioxide sensor of the present invention, means for detecting a change in electric conductivity, charge capacity or AC impedance is not particularly limited, and for example, means similar to various conventional impedance change type sensors can be used. Further, the carbon dioxide sensor of the present invention may be provided with an additional circuit of a temperature compensation circuit as needed.
[0052]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the carbon dioxide sensitive material and the carbon dioxide sensor according to the present invention, since the polythiophene derivative is used, the solubility in the solvent can be increased, and the materials can be uniformly mixed. Therefore, the film forming property of the carbon dioxide sensitive film can be enhanced, peeling can be suppressed, and the homogeneity of the carbon dioxide sensitive film can be enhanced, and the sensitivity and the like can be improved. Therefore, stable and high characteristics can be obtained.
