Abstract
Description
【0001】

この投射型表示装置30は、1チップDLP(digital light processing)表示装置である。
光インテグレータ3の出力光はミラー4を経てDMD(Digital Micromirror Device)で構成されるライトバルブ5に供給される。
【0009】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
According to the present invention, projection is performed in which light from a light source is separated into three primary colors by a spectral member, light from the spectral member is intensity-modulated by a light valve using a video signal or the like, and a video signal is projected on a screen via a projection lens. More particularly, the present invention relates to a projection display device in which a light source and a spectral member can be exchanged, and an operation of adjusting luminance and chromaticity at the time of the exchange can be automated.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Light sources, such as lamps and spectral components, such as rotating color filters, have different characteristics depending on the model and individual products. When these are replaced, they are simultaneously displayed on the screen by changing the conversion and correction conditions for the video signal. It is desirable to adjust the luminance and chromaticity characteristics to be optimum.
[0003]
Conventionally, a lamp unit is provided with a storage unit for storing a lamp optimum lighting condition such as a rated wattage, a changeable wattage range, an appropriate lighting frequency, and a correction value of a circuit loss. A projection type display in which a plurality of types of lamps having different characteristics can be used by a single type of lamp unit by providing control means for reading out the optimum lighting conditions stored in the storage means and automatically performing optimum lighting drive. An apparatus is known (for example, see Patent Document 1).
Further, a projection display device that corrects a change in color temperature due to a change over time of a lamp is also known (for example, see Patent Document 2).

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
As described above, in a conventional projection display device in which a plurality of types of lamps having different characteristics can be used in a single type of lamp unit by storing the rated wattage and the like, the rated value is the same. The same correction is performed for different types of lamps, and manufacturing variations of individual products of the same type (model) are not considered.
Further, even in a conventional example in which a change in color temperature due to a change over time of a lamp is corrected, differences in characteristics of individual products are not considered.
Further, there is a similar problem with respect to variations in characteristics of the spectral member used together with the lamp.
[0006]
The present invention has been made in order to solve the above-described problems, and replacement parts that greatly affect luminance and chromaticity, such as a light source such as a lamp and a spectral member, have different characteristics for each product. It is an object of the present invention to provide a projection display device capable of performing adjustment such that an image projected on a screen has the most desirable luminance and chromaticity characteristics even when having the same.

[0018]
The correction coefficient calculation means 15 receives data representing a target luminance / chromaticity (target value) Ct set from outside via serial communication, an infrared remote controller, a wireless device, or the like.
[0019]
For example, as shown in FIG. 2, the target luminance / chromaticity Ct is represented by a color reproduction range of a triangle having Rt, Gt, and Bt as vertices, and Rt is represented by its tristimulus values Xrt, Yrt, and Zrt. Gt is represented by the tristimulus values Xgt, Ygt, Zgt, and Bt is represented by the tristimulus values Xbt, Ybt, Zbt.
In FIG. 2, R, G, and B represent vertices of the color reproduction range of the triangle when no correction is performed.
[0020]
The correction coefficient calculation means 15 uses the data representing the target luminance / chromaticity Ct and the characteristic coefficients XLr, YLr, ZLr, XLg, YLg, ZLg, XLb, YLb, ZLb from the characteristic coefficient calculation means 14. Xtr, Ytr, Ztr, Xtg, Ytg, Ztg, Xtb, Ytb, and Ztb are obtained.

Here, a display device of an additive color mixture model that satisfies the following equation (3) is assumed.
[0025]
[Equation 3]
[0026]
In Equation (3), α, β, and γ represent the intensity of each of the three primary colors, red (R), green (G), and blue (B) in the display color represented by the input video signal, and Xa , Ya, and Za represent tristimulus values of colors corresponding to the mixing ratio of the three primary colors R, G, and B in the display colors. XLr, YLr, ZLr, XLg, YLg, ZLg, XLb, YLb, ZLb are characteristic coefficients of the display device, and α, β, γ are ranges of possible values of signals representing R, G, B components. (For example, when the signal representing each component of R, G, and B can take a value in the range of 0 to 255, the value of the signal of each component of R, G, and B is “255”). XLr, YLr, ZLr are equal to the tristimulus values for displaying the primary color R, XLg, YLg, ZLg are equal to the tristimulus values for displaying the primary color G, and XLb, YLb , ZLb are equal to the tristimulus values when the primary color B is displayed.
Hereinafter, a case where α, β, and γ are each represented by a ratio to the maximum value as described above will be described.
[0027]
Equation (3) indicates that when a certain color signal (α, β, γ) is input to a display device having a certain characteristic (M), the tristimulus value of the display color of the color displayed at that time is Xa , Ya, and Za.
As shown in Expression (3), the color space of the display device in which the additive color mixture is established is a linear space in which each display color is obtained by a linear sum of the tristimulus values XYZ of the three primary colors “R, G, B”.
[0028]
In the case where the input signal is displayed after being subjected to correction for generating the target luminance and chromaticity, the relationship between the input signal and the display color is represented by the following equation (4).
[0029]
(Equation 4)
[0030]
In Expression (4), the components Xtr, Ytr, Ztr, Xtg, Ytg, Ztg, Xtb, Ytb, and Ztb of the second matrix on the right side are correction coefficients, and are determined as follows, for example.
[0031]
As described above, the target color reproduction range Ct is represented by a triangle having vertices Rt, Gt, and Bt as shown in FIG. When the tristimulus values of Rt are Xrt, Yrt, and Zrt, the following equation (5) is established.
[0032]
(Equation 5)
[0033]
Rearranging the second and third matrices on the right side of equation (5) gives equation (6) below.
[0034]
(Equation 6)
[0035]
By transforming equation (6), the following equation (7) can be obtained.
[0036]
(Equation 7)
[0037]
Expressions (8) and (9) below are obtained in the same manner as Expression (7).
[0038]
(Equation 8)
[0039]
(Equation 9)
[0040]
In Equations (8) and (9), Xgt, Ygt, and Zgt are tristimulus values of Gt, and Xbt, Ybt, and Zbt are tristimulus values of Bt.
From the equations (7), (8), and (9), nine coefficients forming the second matrix on the right side of the equation (2) are obtained.
[0041]
The correction coefficient calculation means 15 shown in FIG. 1 receives Ct (Xrt, Yrt, Zrt, Xgt, Ygt, Zgt, Xbt, Ybt, Zbt) from the outside, YLb and ZLb are given from the characteristic coefficient calculating means 14, and based on these, the calculations of the equations (7), (8) and (9) are performed, and the correction coefficients Xtr, Ytr, Ztr, Xtg, Ytg, Ztg, Xtb, Ytb, and Ztb are obtained.
[0042]
1 receives correction coefficients Xtr, Ytr, Ztr, Xtg, Ytg, Ztg, Xtb, Ytb, and Ztb from the correction coefficient calculating means 15 and receives input signals D (α, β, γ), and receives the characteristic coefficients XLr, YLr, ZLr, XLg, YLg, ZLg, XLb, YLb, ZLb from the characteristic coefficient calculating means 14, and performs the calculation of the above equation (2) on these. Xc, Yc, and Zc are obtained, and further converted to signals Er, Eg, and Eb of R, G, and B components, and supplied to the

[0044]
As described above, according to the above-described embodiment, the spectral data for obtaining the tristimulus values are stored in the
[0045]
In the case of replacement, if a unique identification code for each component is assigned to the storage means attached to the light source and the spectral member as replacement parts, it is immediately automatically determined that the replacement has occurred due to the difference in the identification code. Therefore, it is easy to automate the luminance / chromaticity adjustment.
[0046]
In the above embodiment, the target luminance / chromaticity values are set from the outside. However, if the values are fixed, they may be stored in the internal memory in advance, or the values once set from the outside may be stored in the internal memory. May be stored.
[0047]
In addition, the radiation spectrum characteristics and the transmittance at each wavelength are stored in the
[0048]
Further, in the present embodiment, the light source and the spectral member each have the storage means, but the storage means may be provided in only one of them depending on the variation in characteristics.
[0049]
In the projection display device using the one-chip DMD, the storage unit that stores the characteristic data of the spectral member is shared with the storage unit that stores the rotation reference position information (index) of the color wheel that is the spectral member. Can be done. By doing so, there is an effect that there is almost no increase in cost for retaining the characteristic data of the spectral member.
[0050]
Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, the DMD element is used as the light valve. However, the present invention can be similarly applied to a case where a liquid crystal element is used, although the configuration of the light-splitting member changes.
[0051]
The present invention relates to a multi-vision projection display device including a combination of a plurality of projection display devices described in the first embodiment, wherein a common luminance and chromaticity that can be reproduced by a plurality of projection display devices or a common luminance close to the same. It is also applicable to a case where the luminance and chromaticity of the image are obtained and the adjustment is performed using the target luminance and chromaticity as the above.

FIG. 3 shows a multi-vision projection display device combining two projection display devices as an example.

Hereinafter, a method of obtaining the common area triangle RtGtBt will be described in detail.
First, the xy coordinate values of the vertices of the triangles R1G1B1 and R2G2B2 are read from the
[0056]
6 and 7 show a procedure for calculating the xy coordinate values of Rt.
In FIG. 6, first, it is determined whether (the coordinate values of) R1 and R2 are equal to each other (S1).
If they are equal, it is determined that R1 = (the coordinate value of) R2 (the coordinate value of) to be obtained (the coordinate value of) (S2), and the process ends.
If they are not equal, it is determined whether or not each vertex of each triangle is included in the other triangle (S3, S4). If it is included, each vertex (R1 or R2) is set to the vertex of the common area. (Rt). For example, first, it is determined whether the vertex R1 is included in the triangle R2G2B2 (S3), and if it is, the vertex R1 is set to Rt (S5). If not included, it is next determined whether or not the vertex R2 is included in the triangle R1G1B1 (S4). If it is included, the vertex R2 is set to Rt (S6).
[0057]
The inclusion determination is performed by the method shown in FIGS. FIGS. 8A and 8B show a method of determining whether or not the vertex R1 is included in the triangle R2G2B2 as an example. The vectors from the vertex R1 to the vertices R2, G2, B2 are R2v, G2v, B2v,
R2v × G2v,
G2v × B2v,
B2v × R2v,
(× indicates the cross product of vectors)
Are all positive, the vertex R1 is included in the triangle R2G2B2 as shown in FIG. If any of the above three products is negative, the vertex R1 is not included in the triangle R2G2B2, for example, as shown in FIG.
[0058]
When it is determined in both of steps S3 and S5 that no inclusion is included, the intersection calculation shown in FIG. 7 is performed next.
[0059]
In FIG. 7, first, it is determined whether or not the line segment R1G1 and the line segment R2B2 intersect (S11). If they intersect, the intersection is set to Rt (S12).
If they do not intersect in step S11, the intersection of line segment R2G2 and line segment R1B1 is set to Rt (S13).
Such an intersection calculation is based on the premise that R1 is located closer to R2 than G2 and B2.
[0060]
The determination as to whether or not the line segment R1G1 and the line segment R2B2 intersect in step S11 in FIG. 7 is performed by, for example, the following method.
When the line segments R1G1 and R2B2 intersect at the intersection point V (the intersection point V exists on the line segment R1G1 and exists on the line segment R2B2),
(R2x-B2x) s + (G1x-R1x) t = G1x-B2x (10)
(R2y-B2y) s + (G1y-R1y) t = G1y-B2y ... (11)
Holds, and 0 ≦ s ≦ 1, 0 ≦ t ≦ 1 (12)
Holds.
Here, R1x and R1y are x and y coordinate values of the point R1,
G1x and G1y are x and y coordinate values of the point G1,
R2x and R2y are x and y coordinate values of the point R2,
B2x and B2y are x and y coordinate values of the point B2D.
[0061]
By substituting the respective xy coordinate values into the above equation, s and t are obtained. If s and t satisfy the condition of the above equation (12), it can be seen that the line segment R1G1 and the line segment R2B2 intersect. .
[0062]
As described above, Rt is obtained. Gt and Bt are obtained by the same calculation. When the xy coordinate values of Rt, Gt, and Bt are obtained in this way, they are converted into XYZ tristimulus values, which are used as data representing target luminance and chromaticity.

In the above-described embodiment, a two-screen multi-vision system has been described, but the number of screens is not limited as long as a common area is calculated according to the number of screens.
[0067]
When a multi-vision system is configured by using a plurality of projection display devices as in the above-described second embodiment, by providing a common area of each projection display device as a target value, the entire screen is displayed before and after component replacement. It is easy to keep the image characteristics uniform.
[0068]
【The invention's effect】
The present invention is configured as described above, and stores the characteristic data for obtaining the tristimulus value in the storage means incorporated in each of the light source and the spectral member. The correction coefficient for producing the luminance and chromaticity can be automatically obtained. Further, even when both or one of the light source and the spectral member is replaced, a correction coefficient according to the characteristics of each product can be automatically obtained by referring to the characteristic data from the storage unit after the replacement. .
