Abstract
Description
【0001】
Appl. Phys. Lett.

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an organic electroluminescent device, the organic electroluminescent device, and an organic electroluminescent layer used for the organic electroluminescent device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Organic electroluminescent devices have been actively researched and developed since the report of Tang and VanSlyke, "J. Appl. Phys. Lett. Vol. 51, pp. 913 (1987)". It has been commercialized in panels and mobile terminals. The organic thin film constituting the organic electroluminescent element is obtained by forming a low molecular weight organic material using a vapor deposition method or forming a high molecular weight organic material using a solution coating method.
[0003]
The deposition method of low-molecular organic materials is a method that is currently in practical use, and it is possible to fabricate devices with higher reliability than the solution coating method of high-molecular organic materials, and to stack multiple layers. The structure can be easily formed, and a device with high luminance and high efficiency can be realized. However, at the time of patterning, it is necessary to use a deposition mask, which hinders high definition and large area.
[0004]
On the other hand, as described above, the application method of the high molecular organic material is inferior to the vapor deposition method of the low molecular organic material in terms of the reliability and characteristics of the obtained device, but is combined with, for example, the inkjet method. Accordingly, a sufficiently high-definition light emitting region can be formed, and the present invention can be applied to a display of several tens of inches.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
As described above, the vapor deposition method and the coating method have advantages and disadvantages. In particular, a high-reliability and high-performance device can be provided for the realization of a next-generation organic electroluminescent device, and further, a fine processing technology can be provided. It has been desired to establish a technique for producing a novel organic electroluminescent device accompanied by the above.
[0006]
The present invention can provide a highly reliable and high-performance device, and also provides a method for manufacturing a novel organic electroluminescent device with fine processing technology, and a novel organic electroluminescent device obtained by the method. The purpose is to provide.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
To achieve the above object, the present invention provides:
Preparing a transparent substrate in the visible light wavelength region,
Forming a first electrode on the substrate;
Forming a light-emitting layer made of a mixture of a low-molecular-weight organic hole-transporting material, a low-molecular-weight organic electron-transporting material, and a low-molecular-weight organic light-emitting material on the first electrode;
Forming a second electrode on the light emitting layer.
[0008]
Also, the present invention
A transparent substrate in the visible light wavelength region,
A first electrode formed on the substrate;
A light-emitting layer formed on the first electrode, comprising a mixture of a low-molecular organic hole transport material, a low-molecular organic electron transport material, and a low-molecular organic light-emitting material;
And a second electrode formed on the light emitting layer.
[0009]
The low-molecular-weight organic hole transport material, low-molecular-weight organic electron-transport material, and low-molecular-weight organic light-emitting material each mean an organic material having a molecular weight of 10,000 or less.
[0010]
Conventionally, in an organic electroluminescence element, a hole transport layer and an electron transport layer are formed as separate layers so as to sandwich a light emitting layer. Therefore, the light emitting layer portion sandwiched between the pair of electrodes has a multilayer structure in which a plurality of layers are stacked. For example, when an organic electroluminescent element is manufactured by the above-described coating method, the light-emitting layer itself is formed by the coating method, but the hole transport layer and the electron transport layer are manufactured by using an evaporation method.
[0011]
In contrast, according to the present invention, a mixture of a low-molecular organic hole transport material, a low-molecular organic electron transport material, and a low-molecular organic light-emitting material is prepared, and a light-emitting layer is formed from the mixture. I have to. As a result, the light emitting layer portion of the organic electroluminescent device is constituted by only a single light emitting layer. Therefore, if the mixture is dissolved in a predetermined organic solvent or the like, the light emitting layer portion of the organic electroluminescent device can be formed using only a coating method. As a result, fine patterning can be performed, and a fine processing technique can be realized.
[0012]
Further, if the low-molecular organic hole transport material, the low-molecular organic electron transport material, and the low-molecular organic light-emitting material are composed of a low-molecular material that is used in a vapor deposition method, the organic electroluminescence can be obtained. The reliability and performance of the device and also of the device comprising this device can be improved.
[0013]
As a result, according to the present invention, a high-reliability and high-performance device can be provided for the realization of a next-generation organic electroluminescent device, and further, a novel organic electroluminescent device with fine processing technology An element manufacturing technique can be provided.
[0014]

In addition, when the above-described low-molecular organic hole transport material, low-molecular organic electron transport material, and low-molecular organic light-emitting material are composed of low-molecular materials used in a conventional deposition method, the organic electric field can be reduced. It is also possible to improve the reliability and performance of the light emitting element and also of the device having this element.
