本発明は、CRCチェック機能を伴う光ディスク装置に関する。

図8は、一般的な光ディスク装置2のブロック図である。該光ディスク装置2は、光ディスクを回すスピンドルモータ4、レーザピックアップ6、及び信号処理系統部を含む。更に信号処理系統部は、検出された信号をデジタルデータへ変換するRF系統部、モータの回転とピックアップの位置を制御するサーボ系統部、デジタルデータ処理系統部(具体的には、DSP8とCPU10)を含む。RF系統部とサーボ系統部とはアナログ信号を処理する部位であるから、これらの部位は一般にアナログフロントエンド(AFE)12と呼ばれる。AFE12は、ピックアップで検出した微小信号を増幅するプリアンプやゲインコントロール、レーザの出力制御回路、サーボ系のエラー検出などの回路で構成される。

CD(コンパクトディスク)などの媒体をリードする(読み取る)場合、レーザピックアップ6にて読み込まれたデータが、AFE12でアナログ信号処理され、AFE12からのRF信号がDSP8でデジタルデータ処理される。そのあとデータは、ENDEC14でDRAM16とバッファリングされながら各種主処理回路で信号処理(例えば、エラー訂正/検出など)される。更に、データは、ホストコンピュータとのインターフェース部であるATAPIインターフェース部18を介してホストコンピュータ(例えば、パーソナルコンピュータ)によりリードされる(読み取られる)。図8におけるCPU10は、ENDEC14を制御するものである。

以下、図面を参照しつつ本発明に係る好適な実施の形態を説明する。

図1に示すように、ホストコンピュータ20と光ディスク装置2とをATAPIインターフェイス部18を介して接続しUltra DMA転送で転送する場合、データ(DD[16:0])とストローブ信号(DSTROBE)が、光ディスク装置2からホストコンピュータ20に出力される。

図2にて、光ディスク装置2から出力されるデータとストローブ信号とのタイミングチャートの例を示す。Ultra DMA転送においてストローブ信号は、立ち上がりと立ち下がりの両方でデータをとるようになっている。ところで、ストローブ信号の立ち上がり(又は立ち下がり)に対するセットアップタイム(図2の「tDVS」)、ホールドタイム(図2の「tDVH」)は、ATA/ATAPIの規格により拘束される(下記の表1参照。表1は、ATA/ATAPI5に準拠する。)。その規格を満たさないと、所望のデータ転送ができない可能性が生じる。

≪第1の実施の形態≫
図3に示される第1の実施の形態では、光ディスク装置2から出力されるデータに対して、ストローブの位置を光ディスク装置2側で変更する。

第1の実施の形態では、通常のデータを転送する前に、図4のようなデータ転送が試験的に行なわれる。DD[15:0]は内部クロック(clk)に同期化している。従って、図4の(1)の区間に何クロック分含まれるかが決まる。この図4の場合では、5クロック分である。よって、内部クロックに同期化するストローブ信号を(1)の区間で生成できる数がストローブカウンタ30で決定できる。図4の場合には、A〜Jの10種ということになる。

ところで、図3の第1の実施形態では、通常のデータ転送と試験的なデータ転送とを区別するために、CRC比較回路32から出力するNGビットが設けられている。このNGビットは、通常のデータ転送でCRCエラーのときに“1”となるもので、その先にあるセレクタ34、36を制御する。通常のデータ転送のときは、これらのセレクタ34、36は“0”が選択される。よって、このとき、DRAM16からのデータに対して、光ディスク装置2側とホストコンピュータ側20との夫々にてCRCを生成して、CRC比較回路32で比較することになる。
