Description

【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a method for displaying a space by configuring a screen itself such as an organic EL, a liquid crystal, a plasma display, or a cathode ray tube in a three-dimensional manner, so that coordinates of the screen itself correspond to spatial coordinates of an image to be displayed.
[0002]
[Prior art]
The screen of a conventional television or the like mainly displays an image or a video on a wall surface. As shown in FIG. 5, an image is displayed on a vertical surface from the viewpoint. The observer interprets that a virtual space exists beyond the vertical plane.
When a special display or special glasses is worn, an image jumps out of the screen or the depth of the screen looks three-dimensional by using parallax.
When drawing a three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional plane using a computer, by inputting information for changing the viewpoint position to the computer, an image in which the viewpoint position is changed can be instantaneously calculated and displayed on the screen.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, there were the following disadvantages.
(B) In some cases, a plane that is almost perpendicular to the wall surface, such as the floor or ceiling, is displayed on the screen. When these are displayed on a vertical display, they must be expressed as perspective views. In this case, the plane coordinates of the image or the video do not correspond to the plane coordinates of the screen. When a conventional screen is used, even when working in a three-dimensional space using both the vertical direction and the depth direction, it is necessary to work with a two-dimensional projected image.
(B) A screen configuration based on a computer display or a television broadcast, etc., which has a stage-like screen configuration, that is, a wall surface and a floor surface, and an information arrangement such that people and objects are displayed on the floor surface. Often used. Consider a case where this virtual stage space is displayed on a conventional screen. The virtual stage space is formed on the back side of the screen as shown in the image in the screen of FIG. 5, and the sense of reality is impaired.
(C) Consider a case where a stereoscopic space is displayed on a conventional screen. When the observer views the three-dimensional space displayed on the screen while changing the angle and distance, the displayed three-dimensional space image should be different depending on the position of each viewpoint. However, on a conventional screen, a two-dimensional projected image when viewed from the front of the screen is always displayed. When the direction of the viewpoint is changed, the image displayed for the front of the screen is only seen from an oblique direction (FIG. 5). Even when viewed on a screen capable of three-dimensional display using parallax, an image displayed in three dimensions is an image viewed from the front of the screen. Even if the position of the image is changed from the center of the screen to the oblique direction, the image corresponding to the viewpoint from the oblique direction is not necessarily displayed.
The present invention has been made to solve these disadvantages.
[0004]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, in the invention of claim 1, a space to be expressed is considered as an aggregate of surfaces such as floors, walls, and ceilings, and a screen configured in a three-dimensional manner so as to approach the aggregate of surfaces is considered. Provide. Then, the perspective of the three-dimensional space is displayed from the viewpoint to the screen.
This is a method for displaying a space on a screen, configured as described above.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, an apparatus for inputting viewpoint position information is added to the apparatus using the method of the first aspect. This is a method of displaying a space on a screen at an arbitrary viewpoint by displaying a projection of a three-dimensional space from the viewpoint position on the screen.
The present invention is a method for displaying a space on a screen having the above configuration.
[0005]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
One embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention is shown in FIG. FIG. 2 is a front view in which the depth when FIG. 1 is viewed from an actual viewpoint is considered.
(B) The space to be displayed is considered as an aggregate of surfaces, such as floors, walls, and ceilings. In FIG. 1, a combination of one wall surface and one floor surface is set as the simplest and practical combination.
(B) The screen is configured to be three-dimensional so as to approach the set of surfaces set in (a). In FIG. 1, it is configured using two liquid crystal screens, that is, a wall surface display screen (1) and a floor surface display screen (2). With such an arrangement, there is an effect that the shape of the screen itself gives stereoscopic visual information as a clue to the depth.
(C) Set the viewpoint position in three-dimensional coordinates.
(D) Display floor and wall images as needed. The image of the floor surface or the wall surface may be displayed on the screen without considering the three-dimensional depth. In FIG. 1, parallel lines are displayed on the floor as an example.
(E) The object (5) to be rendered in front of the floor or wall is displayed based on the procedure shown in FIG. FIG. 3 is a plan view of FIG. The projection (6) is displayed on the screens (1) and (2) so as to be equivalent to the image when the three-dimensional object (5) is viewed from the viewpoint (3). As shown in FIG. 3, first, the object (5) is transformed into a coordinate system considering the depth. Next, the viewpoint (3) is replaced with a virtual spotlight (7). The projection (6) is calculated so that a shadow is projected from the three-dimensional object (5) to the screens (1) and (2) when (7) is applied to the object in front of the wall surface. Then, the projection (6) is displayed in front of the image displayed in (d). The observer interprets the illusion that the three-dimensional object (5) is in front of the screen.
(F) An object located behind the wall surface (or floor surface) is displayed as shown in (4) of FIG. In this case, the projected view may be displayed as before except that the viewpoint position is absolutely in front.
Next, an embodiment of the invention described in claim 2 is shown in FIG. In the first aspect of the present invention, the viewpoint position needs to be set in advance. The invention according to claim 2 is a form in which a viewpoint position information input device (8) and a viewpoint direction indicator (9) are added to display a three-dimensional object at an arbitrary viewpoint position.
(G) The base of the viewpoint direction indicating rod (9) is a hinge in both the vertical and horizontal directions, so that the pointing direction can be changed in the vertical and horizontal directions. The observer has a role of estimating the angle of the position of the screen and the observer's head (viewpoint) by turning the viewpoint direction indicator rod (9) toward the viewpoint. The viewpoint position information input device (8) converts the amount of rotation of the up / down and left / right hinges of the viewpoint direction indicator rod (9) into an electric signal to thereby determine the plane angle from the screen front position to the viewpoint position and the angle between the wall surface and the viewpoint. It has a reading function.
(U) Based on the viewpoint position information described above, the spatial images and projections (d) to (f) are calculated by a computer and displayed on a screen. When the observer wants to see an image (plan view) when viewed from directly above the screen, the observer actually moves his / her head to the upper part of the screen and simultaneously turns the viewpoint direction indicator rod (9) toward the viewpoint. Thus, an image viewed from above can be displayed.
"Effects of the embodiment"
According to the embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the floor surface can be displayed on the screen in a state in which the floor surface is not projected in an oblique direction but corresponds to the plane coordinates of the floor surface. Also, a virtual stage space can be displayed in front of the screen displayed as a wall.
According to the embodiment of the second aspect of the present invention, the effect of the first embodiment of the present invention can be obtained from any viewpoint direction.
"Other embodiments"
(A) Similar effects can be obtained even when one display is bent and manufactured in addition to using two screens. Further, the effects of the present invention can be obtained regardless of the type of screen such as an organic EL, a liquid crystal, a plasma display, and a cathode ray tube.
(B) When the space to be displayed is replaced with an aggregate of surfaces such as a floor surface, a wall surface, and a ceiling surface, for example, a plurality of surfaces may be provided with only the wall surface. The screen may be flat or curved.
(C) The viewpoint position input device may be inside the screen or around the screen.
(D) The distance from the screen to the viewpoint is required in addition to the angle as viewpoint position information. In the above-described embodiment, the distance from the screen to the viewpoint is assumed to be constant without largely changing. However, a function for adjusting the distance from the screen to the viewpoint may be installed as needed. In more use of autofocus functions that are commonly used to reduce the burden of the user's operation can be automatically determine the distance to the observer from screen.
(E) In the above-described embodiment, the viewpoint direction indicating rod (9) is rod-shaped, but may be a pointing rod as long as it has a function of pointing in the viewpoint direction.
(F) In the above-described embodiment, the angle between the wall surface display screen (1) and the floor surface display screen (2) is fixed. If the function of detecting the angle is added and incorporated in the stereoscopic image calculation, the effect of the present invention can be obtained in an arbitrary screen shape.
[0006]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the following effects can be obtained.
(A) When displaying a plane whose angle from a wall surface is almost vertical, such as a floor or a ceiling, the plane coordinates of an image or a video to be displayed and the plane coordinates of a screen can be displayed in correspondence. It is possible to intuitively display a space that is easy to understand simply by using a conventional technique.
(B) When a screen configuration such as a stage, that is, a space composed of a wall surface and a floor surface is displayed, the virtual stage space can be expressed in front of the wall surface, and a more realistic effect than before can be obtained. .
(C) If a viewpoint position input device is added, an image of a space from an arbitrary viewpoint can be displayed even when viewed from different angles or distances from the screen.
