TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus such as a copier, a printer, and a facsimile, and more particularly, includes a conductive brush member that cleans the surface of a uniform charging member such as a charging roller that uniformly charges the surface of a latent image carrier. Related to an image forming apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a developing device installed in an image forming unit using an electrophotographic method, a two-component developer including a toner and a magnetic carrier is carried on a developer carrier, and a magnetic brush is formed by fixed magnetic poles inside the developer carrier. 2. Description of the Related Art There is known a developing device for performing development. In this developing device, after regulating the layer thickness of the developer by a developer regulating member such as a doctor blade, the developer carried on the developer carrier is moved to the surface of the developer carrier to form a latent image carrier. The sheet is transported to the opposite developing area. At this time, the developer is affected by the centrifugal force or the airflow in the developing device, and causes the scattering of the carrier or the scattering of the toner (hereinafter referred to as “scattering of the developer”). As a countermeasure, it is common that a developer scattering prevention member is attached so as to cover the developer layer after passing through the regulating position of the developer regulating member. Examples of such a developing device include those disclosed in Patent Document 1 and
[0003]
On the other hand, the surface of the latent image carrier is uniformly charged by contact charging by a uniform charging member such as a charging roller before developing by the developing device. When uniform charging is performed by such contact charging, foreign substances such as toner and paper powder may adhere to the surface of the uniformly charging member. If such foreign matter adheres, charging unevenness occurs, making it difficult to uniformly charge the surface of the latent image carrier. For this reason,

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the brush roller disclosed in
When the foreign matter adhered to the surface of the uniformly charged member is collected by the brush roller described above, the cleaning ability is improved by collecting not only the scraping action by the brush but also the action of the electrostatic force. In addition, most of the foreign matter attached to the surface of the uniformly charging member is charged in a polarity opposite to the charging bias applied to the uniformly charging member. Therefore, a conductive brush roller is used. With a conductive brush roller, the potential of the brush roller can be set to the same polarity as the charging bias applied to the uniformly charging member, and foreign matters charged to the opposite polarity are also electrostatically collected. Because you can. However, if the brush roller is used for a long time, the brush comes off from the core of the roller, and the removed brush may adhere to the surface of the latent image carrier. In this case, the brush is conveyed to a contact portion where the developer scattering prevention member and the surface of the latent image carrier come into contact with the surface movement of the latent image carrier, and stays in a state sandwiched between the contact portions. I will. Since the brush is conductive, the potential state of the surface of the latent image carrier is broken by the brush in contact with the surface of the latent image carrier, and the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the latent image carrier is disturbed. As a result, there is a problem that image quality is deteriorated.
[0006]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing image quality deterioration due to a conductive brush that has fallen off.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the invention according to claim 1 includes a latent image carrier that moves on the surface, a uniform charging member that contacts or approaches the surface of the latent image carrier, and uniformly charges the latent image carrier. A developer carrier, which is arranged opposite to the surface of the latent image carrier in a state where it is partially exposed from the opening of the casing, moves the surface with the developer carried on the surface, and is charged by the uniform charging member. A developing device for developing the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the latent image carrier by attaching toner in a developer on the surface of the developer carrier to the electrostatic latent image; A conductive brush member for removing adhering foreign matter, and an upstream side in a surface moving direction of the latent image carrier in a developing region in which the surface of the latent image carrier and the surface of the developer carrier are opposed to each other; A developer scattering prevention member having one end fixed to an opening edge of the developing casing. In the image forming apparatus in which the gap between the edge of the opening and the surface of the latent image carrier is closed by bringing the other end into contact with the surface of the latent image carrier in the bent state, the developer is scattered. The contact pressure of the contact portion where the other end of the prevention member and the surface of the latent image carrier are in contact with each other can be passed through the contact portion by the brush moving out of the conductive brush member due to the surface movement of the latent image carrier. The pressure is set to a suitable pressure.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the image forming apparatus of the first aspect, the developer scattering prevention member has a thickness of 0.05 mm or more and 0.15 mm or less. is there.
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the image forming apparatus of the first or second aspect, a toner accumulation preventing member is provided between the developer scattering preventing member and the developer carrying member, and the toner carrying member is supported on the surface of the developer carrying member. The toner accumulation preventing member is disposed such that the toner accumulation preventing member comes into contact with at least a part of the toner accumulation preventing member before the transferred developer is conveyed to the developing area by the surface movement of the developer carrying member. Is what you do.
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the image forming apparatus of the third aspect, the toner accumulation preventing member has a thickness of 0.05 mm or more and 0.15 mm or less. .
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, in the image forming apparatus of the third or fourth aspect, the end of the toner accumulation preventing member on the developing region side is located at the same position as the end of the developer scattering preventing member on the developing region side. Alternatively, the toner accumulation preventing member is arranged so as to be positioned at a position closer to the development area side than the end portion.
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, in the image forming apparatus according to the first, second, third, fourth, or fifth aspect, a two-component developer including a toner and a magnetic carrier is used as the developer. The magnetic field generated by the magnetic field generating means fixedly arranged inside the developer carrier causes the developer in the development area to be raised so as to come into contact with the surface of the latent image carrier, thereby performing development. The developer scattering prevention member, or the developer scattering prevention member and the toner accumulation preventing member are arranged such that the end on the development region side is positioned at a position where the end does not come into contact with the developer rising in the development region. It is characterized by the following.
According to a seventh aspect of the present invention, in the image forming apparatus according to the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, or sixth aspect, the conductive brush member has a brush thickness of 1 denier to 20 denier, Is 0.3 mm or more and 2.5 mm or less, and the brush density is 7000 brushes / cm. 2 More than 46000 pieces / cm 2 The following brush roller is used.
[0008]
The image forming apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 7, further includes a conductive brush member for removing foreign matter adhered to the surface of the uniformly charging member, and a developing device on the upstream side of the latent image carrier surface moving direction in the developing area. A gap between the opening edge of the casing and the surface of the latent image carrier is closed by a developer scattering prevention member. One end of the developer scattering prevention member is fixed to the opening edge of the developing casing, and the other end is in contact with the surface of the latent image carrier in a bent state. In the present image forming apparatus, the contact pressure at the contact portion where the developer scattering prevention member and the surface of the latent image carrier come into contact with each other is reduced due to the movement of the surface of the latent image carrier by the brush coming out of the conductive brush member. The pressure is set so that it can pass through the contact part. Therefore, the brush that has fallen out of the conductive brush member can pass through the abutting portion, and the situation in which the brush is caught and retained by the abutting portion is suppressed. As a result, disturbance of the electrostatic latent image on the latent image carrier by the brush coming off the conductive brush member is suppressed.
