本発明は車両用灯具に関するものであり、詳細にはテール/ストップランプ、ターンシグナルランプなど、自車の行動、意志などを他車、或いは、歩行者などに告知するために設けられる信号用の車両用灯具の構成に係るものであり、更に詳細には、上記信号用の車両用灯具においてレンズ面にストライプ状などの装飾が設けられているものに係る。

【従来の技術】
従来のレンズ面に装飾が設けられている車両用灯具の構成としては、アウターレンズの背面側に比較的に小径で且つ比較的に短焦点の凸レンズをデザイン的に配置しておき、前記アウターレンズを透過して見える反射面が凸レンズが設けられている部分と、設けられていない部分とでは異なって見えることで、アウターレンズ面に凸レンズが配置されたデザインが浮き上がるように見せ、美観を向上させようと図るものがある。(例えば、特許文献1参照)

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、前記特許文献1に記載された方法によるレンズ面の装飾では、レンズ面も、凸レンズ部分も共に透明な状態であるので透過光、即ち、車両用灯具が点灯されている状態でなければ、施されている装飾が観視者には明確に認識されたいものとなり、非点灯時、即ち、昼間時における装飾効果に乏しいという問題点を生じている。

また、図4に示した方法によるレンズ面の装飾は、確かに、点灯時でも非点灯時でも装飾効果は変わらないものとすることができるが、ホットスタンプ、蒸着など手間のかかる工程が必要となり車両用灯具全体がコストアップする問題点、或いは、レンズの形状などにより装飾を行うこと自体が困難となる問題点を生じている。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は前記した従来の課題を解決するための具体的手段として、アウター若しくはインナーレンズのレンズ面に鏡面状を成す装飾ストライプが設けられて成る車両用灯具において、前記装飾ストライプは前記レンズ面の背面側にこの車両用灯具の照射方向側からの入射光に対して内面全反射を行う角度に設定された傾斜面の一対がお互いが相手方からの光も内面全反射を行うように対峙して設けることにより構成されていることを特徴とする車両用灯具を提供することで課題を解決するものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
つぎに、本発明を図に示す実施形態に基づいて詳細に説明する。図1に符号1で示すものは車両用灯具であり、この車両用灯具1は、例えば、ストップ/テールランプ、ターンシグナルランプなど、他車、歩行者などに対して自車の行動、意志などを伝達するために用いられる信号用の車両用灯具1である点は、従来例のものと同様である。

そして、この車両用灯具1は、例えば白熱電球とした光源2と、この光源2を焦点とする回転放物面とした反射鏡3と、前記反射鏡3の前面を覆うレンズ4とから構成されている。尚、実際の実施に当たっては、前記反射鏡3に換えて光源2とレンズ4に間にフレネルレンズを設け、光源2からの光を略平行光線としてレンズ4に入射させるものとしても良い。

また、反射鏡3を採用する際には、この反射鏡3に例えば凹凸面とした反射面カットを設け、反射鏡3の側で車両用灯具1に要求される配光特性を形成するものとしても良いものである。また、レンズ4の側にレンズカットを設けても良く、更に言えば、前記レンズ4は、図1に示すようにアウターレンズ41とインナーレンズ42との2枚構成であっても良いものであり、要は車両のデザインなどに対応するものであればよい。

図2は、本発明の要部であるレンズ4の第一の実施形態を示すものであり、このレンズ4の背面側、即ち、光源2側となる面には本発明により傾斜面4aが設けられている。尚、このときに図1に示したように、前記車両用灯具1のレンズ4が、アウターレンズ41とインナーレンズ42との2枚で構成されている場合には、前記傾斜面4aはアウターレンズ41の側に設けられていても良く、或いは、前記インナーレンズ42の側に設けられていても良い。

ここで、前記傾斜面4aの構成について説明を行えば、この傾斜面4aは、車両に取付けられた状態の前記レンズ4(或いはアウターレンズ41、インナーレンズ42)が観視される方向からこのレンズ4に入射する光線Xに対して全反射を生じる角度として当該のレンズ4を形成する部材と空気との境界面が設けられており、この境界面をして傾斜面4aとされている。

また、前記傾斜面4aは、一対の傾斜面4aがお互いに対峙するように設けられているものであり、このときに、前記レンズ4が形成される部材、例えば、アクリル樹脂、ポリカーボネート樹脂などの屈折率はおおよそ1.5近傍であるので、レンズ4に入射した光線Xに対して45°で交差するように一方の前記傾斜面4aを設けておけば、傾斜面4aに達した光は内面で全反射し、当初の光線Xから90°の方向変換する。

そして、前記傾斜面4aは一対が対称の状態で対峙させられているものであるので、一方の傾斜面4aで90°の方向変換が行われた光は、他の一方の傾斜面4aで再度90°の方向変換が行われ、当初の光とは平行で且つ進行方向が逆の光となり、最終的にはレンズ4の観視方向側の面、即ちレンズ4の表面4bから外部に放射されるものとなる。また、同様に、他方の傾斜面4aに入射した外光は一方の傾斜面4aを介して外部に放射されるものとなる。

この状態で前記レンズ4を略正面から観視すると、レンズ4の内面で全反射を行っている一方の傾斜面4a、および、他方の傾斜面4aの部分は共に金属光沢(銀色)の鏡面状に見えるものとなる。従って、前記傾斜面4aの部分はレンズ4の照射方向側から覗き込む状態では、アルミニウムの蒸着、或いは、アルミニウム箔のホットスタンプで形成された鏡面などとほぼ同様に見える見栄えが傾斜面4aに対して得られるものとなる。

ここで、前記装飾ストライブ4A、或いは、装飾ストライブ4Bはあくまでも装飾が目的のものであるので、前記レンズ4の全面に渡り設けられるものではなく、それ以外の部位は本来のレンズ4として機能を奏するために、前記光源2、反射鏡3からの光に対して透過度に優れる構成とされている。従って、前記装飾ストライブ4A以外のいわゆるレンズ4の裏面は、原則的には前記表面4bに平行な平面とされて第一の透光部4c(図2参照)とされている。

また、装飾ストライブ4Bが設けられたレンズ4においては、この装飾ストライブ4Bの一対を成す傾斜面4a間に設けられた間隔の部分の形状も、表面4bにほぼ平行な平面とすることで、前記第一の透光部4cと同様に光源2、或いは、反射鏡3からの光を効率良く透過させることが可能となるので、必要に応じてこの部分に第二の透光部4d(図3参照)が形成されている。

尚、図2においても図3においても図示は省略してあるが、車両用灯具1としての実際の実施に当たっては、前記第一の透光部4cに車両用灯具1として要求されている配光特性を得るためのレンズカットを設けることは自在であり、特に図3の場合には前記第一の透光部4cに加えて、前記第二の透光部4dにレンズカットを設けることも自在である。

ここで、前記傾斜面4aに達する光源2、または、反射鏡3からの光線Yについて考察してみると、この傾斜面4aに設定された角度(例えば45に応ずる屈折角を生じレンズ4内に導入され、そして、レンズ4内を伝播し表面4bに達したときには、レンズ4が形成された部材と大気の屈折率との差に応ずる屈折角を生じて外部に放射されるものとなる。

【発明の効果】
以上に説明したように本発明により、アウター若しくはインナーレンズのレンズ面に鏡面状を成す装飾ストライプが設けられて成る車両用灯具において、前記装飾ストライプは前記レンズ面の背面側にこの車両用灯具の照射方向側からの入射光に対して内面全反射を行う角度に設定された傾斜面の一対がお互いが相手方からの光も内面全反射を行うように対峙して設けることにより構成されている車両用灯具としたことで、金属色の装飾ストライプをレンズ面に設けることが要求されるときにも、例えば、アルミニウム箔をレンズ面に貼着するためのホットプレートによる加熱接着工程、或いは、アルミニウムを所定位置に蒸着するためのマスキング工程を含む真空槽での排気工程および蒸着工程など、設備も大規模で且つ作業も煩雑な工程を行うことなく金属色の装飾ストライプが得られるものとなり、この種の車両用灯具の生産性の向上とコストダウンとに極めて優れた効果を奏するものである。
