Abstract

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for avoiding the concentration of a location registration traffic when many portable terminals try to register locations at a time. <P>SOLUTION: At the mobile base station, when location registration requests are received from a plurality of portable terminals, the plurality of location registration requests received are reported to a location information management server all together, and in the portable terminal, when it is possible to receive radio waves from both a fixed base station and the mobile base station, the location registration is performed preferentially with the mobile base station. Then, even when it becomes impossible to receive the radio wave from the mobile base station, the location registration is not performed with the fixed base station to be a destination. In a location information management server, when a location registration request is made from the portable terminal to the mobile base station, the location registration is performed duplicately with the mobile base station and the fixed base station of the destination, and when the portable terminal communicates with the fixed station of the destination, the location registration with the mobile base station of the portable terminal is canceled, and the location registration is obtained only with the fixed base station of the destination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI

上記の目的を達成するための本発明の一特徴に従った、移動通信システム内で動作する固定基地局及び移動基地局との通信が可能な携帯端末は、 移動予定先の固定基地局の圏内に到着する前に、予め移動予定先の固定基地局に関する情報を取得して記憶する手段;及び 移動予定先へ移動するための移動手段内に設置された移動基地局に対して固定基地局よりも優先的に位置登録を行い、かつ移動予定先の固定基地局の圏内に到着する前に予め移動予定先の固定基地局に対する位置登録を行う位置登録要求手段; から構成され、 位置登録を行った移動基地局からの電波を受信できなくなった場合にも、移動先の固定基地局に対して再度位置登録を行う必要がない; ことを特徴とする。さらに、移動基地局からの電波を受信でき、かつ移動元の固定基地局以外の固定基地局からの電波を受信した場合に、移動元から移動したと判断して移動基地局に対する位置登録を行う;

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention generally relates to a method for controlling location registration of a mobile terminal in a mobile communication system, and a mobile terminal, a mobile base station, and a location information management server that execute a location registration process, and in particular, a method for avoiding traffic concentration due to the location registration process. And a mobile terminal, a mobile base station, and a location information management server therefor.
[Prior art]
A mobile communication system is a system that enables outgoing / incoming connections even when a mobile terminal moves to any area within a service area. Therefore, the communication service providing area in the mobile communication system is obtained by connecting a plurality of areas called cells formed by the radio base stations. In a mobile communication system, in order to communicate with a desired mobile terminal, it is necessary to always keep track of which cell, that is, which radio base station is under the control of the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal performs position registration with the mobile communication system when the power is turned on or when the serving cell or the location registration area changes (when the cell boundary or the location registration area boundary is exceeded). Only after the location is registered, an incoming call to the mobile terminal becomes possible. However, when the location registration operation by a large number of mobile terminals occurs frequently, there is a problem that the transmission efficiency of the control channel is rapidly reduced.
[0002]
There is a technology that enables a quick control operation while preventing signal collision when a plurality of mobile stations are powered on simultaneously (for example, see Patent Document 1). Further, a technique for dividing the service area into a plurality of divided location registration area groups and assigning a plurality of location registration codes to each wireless base station located in the overlapping location registration area, thereby reducing the number of location registrations. (For example, see Patent Document 2).

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, when a large number of users carrying mobile terminals move by mass transportation such as a train, for example, when the train crosses a cell boundary, all of the mobile terminals in the train have a serving cell almost simultaneously. The location registration traffic concentrates in an attempt to perform location registration in recognition of the change. Alternatively, when a train arrives at a station, a situation occurs in which location registration traffic is similarly concentrated. When the location registration traffic is concentrated, radio resources are wasted, and efficient utilization of radio resources is prevented, which is a problem.
[0006]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a method for avoiding concentration of location registration traffic when a large number of mobile terminals attempt to perform location registration at the same time, and to provide a mobile terminal, a mobile base station, and a location information management server therefor. And
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
According to one feature of the present invention to achieve the above object, a fixed base station operating in a mobile communication system and a mobile terminal capable of communicating with the mobile base station are located within the fixed base station to be moved. A location registration requesting means for performing location registration with priority and performing location registration in advance with respect to the fixed base station of the planned destination before arriving within the range of the fixed base station of the planned destination. It is not necessary to re-register the location of the destination fixed base station even when the mobile station cannot receive radio waves from the mobile base station. Further, when a radio wave from the mobile base station can be received and a radio wave from a fixed base station other than the source fixed base station is received, it is determined that the mobile station has moved from the source and the location registration with respect to the mobile base station is performed. ;
It is also possible.

Be composed.
[0009]
According to another feature of the present invention, a location information management server operating in a mobile communication system including a mobile terminal, a fixed base station, and a mobile base station receives a location registration request for the mobile base station of the mobile terminal. Means for redundantly performing location registration of the mobile base station and the fixed base station of the movement destination; and a mobile terminal that has been redundantly registered for the mobile base station and the fixed base station of the movement destination. Means for canceling the location registration of the mobile terminal with respect to the mobile base station when the communication has been performed with respect to the fixed base station, and setting the mobile terminal to the state of location registration with respect to only the fixed base station.
[0010]
According to another feature of the present invention, the mobile station comprises a mobile base station installed in a mobile means, a plurality of fixed base stations, a mobile terminal communicating with a mobile communication network via the base station, and a location information management server. A method for avoiding location registration concentration in a mobile communication system includes: a step of mutually communicating with a mobile communication network in a mobile base station; a step of transmitting a mobile base station ID identifiable with a base station ID of a fixed base station; Receiving the location registration request from the terminal and reporting the received location registration requests to the location information management server collectively; acquiring the base station IDs of the source and destination in the mobile terminal; Performing the location registration with respect to the mobile base station when the radio waves of both the fixed base station and the mobile base station can be received. Also, a step of not performing location registration for the fixed base station of the movement destination is executed; when the location information management server issues a location registration request from the mobile terminal to the mobile base station, the mobile station moves with the mobile base station. A step of repeatedly performing location registration with respect to the fixed base station of the destination, wherein the mobile terminal of the mobile base station and the fixed base station of which the location is redundantly registered is moved to the fixed base station of the movement destination; When communication is performed, a step of canceling the location registration of the mobile terminal with respect to the mobile base station and bringing the mobile terminal into a state of location registration with respect to only the fixed base station of the movement destination is executed. Further, when there is an incoming call request to the mobile terminal in a situation where the mobile base station and the fixed base station of the moving destination are duplicately registered, when the mobile base station and the moving destination of the position are registered. It is also possible to adopt a configuration in which a call receiving operation is performed on both base stations of the fixed base station, and a step of connecting a line with the base station to which the mobile terminal has responded is executed.
[0011]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
[0012]
FIG. 1 shows a network configuration example of a mobile communication system according to an embodiment of the present invention. The mobile communication system 10 includes a mobile communication network 100 including a location information management server 40, a plurality of fixed base stations 20a to 20d, a plurality of cells 30a to 30d covered by the fixed base stations, and mass transportation such as a train. It comprises a portable terminal (not shown) carried by a plurality of users on the means 70. The location information management server 40 generally has a database function of storing in which cell area the mobile terminal is located, a function of notifying the database that the location has changed when the mobile terminal moves, and the like. ing. The base station 20 has a function of communicating with a mobile terminal existing in a cell to be covered and connecting the mobile terminal to a mobile communication network.
[0013]
According to the related art, when the train 70 moves from the area of the cell 30a to the area of the cell 30b, a large number of mobile terminals try to perform location registration at the same time, so that the location registration traffic is concentrated. Problems arise. Hereinafter, the processing of the location registration operation according to the embodiment of the present invention will be described in chronological order.
[0014]
<Basic operation>
When the user carrying the portable terminal goes to the boarding station 50 to get on the train 70, the portable terminal performs a normal location registration operation until the user arrives at the boarding station 50. That is, each time the mobile terminal crosses a cell boundary, location registration is performed. The user arrives at the boarding station 50 (S10 in FIG. 2) and purchases a boarding ticket. Alternatively, a commuter pass or a coupon may be possessed in advance. Here, description will be made taking a case where a ride ticket is purchased as an example. The boarding ticket may be any medium, but it is possible to notify the mobile terminal of information about the boarding station and the getting off station. As a notification method, for example, when purchasing a boarding ticket, the ticket vending machine communicates with the portable terminal by infrared rays, and transmits information about the boarding station and the getting off station to the portable terminal. If one getting-off station cannot be specified, information about a plurality of candidate getting-off stations is transmitted to the portable terminal. There is also a case where the purchase of a boarding ticket is performed using the function of the mobile terminal, or the case where the ticket itself is realized as a function in the mobile terminal. In any case, the mobile terminal recognizes the boarding station and the getting off station. At this point, the portable terminal may acquire the fixed base station ID of the fixed base station near the disembarkation station.
[0015]
Each fixed base station 20 constantly transmits a base station ID, and the portable terminal identifies a cell, that is, a base station based on the received base station ID. Therefore, the portable terminal has a function of receiving the base station ID, storing the received base station ID, and identifying the base station of the cell in which the mobile terminal is located based on the stored base station ID. A mobile base station 80 is installed in the train 70, and the mobile base station forms one cell. Although the mobile base station 80 also constantly transmits the base station ID, the mobile base station ID of the mobile base station 80 can be distinguished from the fixed base station ID of a normal fixed base station.
[0016]
At the platform inside the boarding station 50, the mobile terminal has already been registered with the fixed base station 20a near the boarding station (S20). When the train to be boarded on the platform enters, the mobile terminal receives the mobile base station ID of the mobile base station provided in the train (S40). In short, the mobile terminal that has received the mobile base station ID performs location registration with the mobile base station. The mobile base station does not individually register the position registration from each mobile terminal in the position information management server 40, but collectively registers the position registrations for a large number of mobile terminals. By doing so, the amount of data to be transmitted is significantly reduced as compared with the case where location registration is individually performed from each mobile terminal, and radio resources are saved.
[0017]
In addition, each mobile terminal not only registers the position with respect to the mobile base station but also stores the stored position of the fixed base station 20d near the disembarkation station with the server 40 in advance (before arriving at the disembarkation station). (S80). Therefore, the server 40 is configured to receive and store a state in which each mobile terminal has redundantly registered locations for a plurality of base stations. The registration of the position to the destination fixed station may be performed after confirming whether or not the train on which the mobile terminal is traveling is moving in the expected correct direction (S70).
[0018]
While receiving the mobile base station ID, the portable terminal is configured not to perform location registration regardless of how many other fixed base station IDs are received. This means that the priority of the mobile base station is high. For example, when the train 70 moves from the area of the cell 30a to the area of 30b, the mobile terminal on the train 70 receives the base station ID from the fixed base station 20b of the cell 30b, This means that location registration is not performed. The same applies to other fixed base stations. With such a configuration, it is possible to avoid a situation in which a large number of mobile terminals on the train 70 attempt to perform location registration at the cell boundary all at once.
[0019]
When the train 70 approaches the disembarkation station 60, the portable terminal receives the fixed base station ID from the fixed base station 20d near the disembarkation station. After the train 70 arrives at the disembarkation station 60 and the user gets off, as the train 70 moves away, the mobile terminal cannot receive the mobile base station ID. Thus, the mobile terminal can determine that the user has got off. However, the location registration for the base station 20d near the getting off station has already been completed. Therefore, it is possible to avoid a situation in which a large number of mobile terminals that get off attempt to perform location registration at the same time. Thereafter, the operation returns to the normal position registration operation except that the position registration is not performed at the base station near the disembarkation station upon arrival.
[0020]
<Details of location registration>
When the user carrying the mobile terminal gets on the train 70 and the mobile terminal performs location registration with the mobile base station, the mobile base station notifies the location information management server 40 of the mobile communication network 100 of the location from another mobile terminal. The location registration request is transferred together with the registration request. At this time, the drop-off station information stored in the portable terminal is also transmitted at the same time. The location information management server 40 managing the location information of the mobile terminal normally associates the base station ID for which the location registration request has been made with the mobile terminal. When a position registration request and drop-off station information are provided from the mobile base station, the position information management server 40 acquires a fixed base station ID near the drop-off station from the drop-off station information. The location information management server 40 may have a mapping function for acquiring a fixed base station ID near the disembarkation station from the disembarkation station information. After acquiring the fixed base station ID, the position information management server 40 associates the fixed base station ID and the mobile base station ID near the disembarkation station with the portable terminal. At this time, the location information management server 40 recognizes the mobile terminal as a state in which the mobile terminal has been redundantly registered with both the mobile base station and the fixed base station near the disembarkation station. The mobile terminal is notified of the information of the fixed base station ID (S30).
[0021]
<Operation when calling>
When the user makes a call within the train 70, which is a mobile means, the mobile terminal can perform a call operation to the mobile base station as usual because the location of the mobile terminal is registered in the mobile base station (S90). Even when the user makes a call to the fixed base station near the disembarkation station after getting off, the mobile terminal can register as usual since the mobile terminal is registered in the mobile base station and the fixed base station near the disembarkation station redundantly. It is. At this time, if the call from the user is sent not to the mobile base station but to the fixed base station near the disembarkation station, it is determined that the user has got off, and the location information management server 40 determines the mobile base station from the location registration information. The ID is deleted to eliminate the duplicate location registration status.
[0022]
<Incoming operation>
When the user is on the train 70, the location is registered with the mobile base station, so the incoming call is made via the mobile base station. When the user is at the disembarkation station, the mobile terminal is in a state of duplicate location registration with the mobile base station and the fixed base station near the disembarkation station, so that the mobile terminal can still receive a call. During the overlapping location registration state, the incoming call operation is performed to both the mobile base station and the fixed base station near the disembarkation station. The incoming call may be made at the same time for both base stations, or may be made in the order of the mobile base station and the fixed base station near the disembarkation station. When the portable terminal responds to the simultaneous base station operation to the fixed base station near the disembarkation station, it is determined that the user has already disembarked, and the location information management server deletes the mobile base station ID from the location registration information. Then, the duplicate location registration status is eliminated.
[0023]
<When there is a connection>
The mobile terminal can also acquire information on the connecting station in advance. As with the drop-off station, it is possible to cope with the fixed base station near the transit station by performing redundant location registration. In other words, a duplicate location registration situation occurs between the mobile base station, the fixed base station near the transit station, and the fixed base station near the disembarkation station, and then the location registration with the fixed mobile base station near the transit station is deleted. Deletes the location registration with the mobile base station. In an incoming call operation during a connection, it is possible to perform an incoming call operation on a fixed base station near a connecting station.
<Judgment of boarding and departure>
The mobile terminal arrives at the boarding station 50 with the location registered at the fixed base station near the boarding station. Thereafter, when the mobile base station ID can be received and the base station ID from the fixed base station 20a near the boarding station cannot be received, or the base station ID from another fixed base station (for example, the base station 20b) is received. In (S50), it can be determined that the train 70 has departed from the boarding station. After the determination is made, the location may be registered in the mobile base station (S60).
[0024]
<Train of opposite platform>
Up and down trains enter and leave the platform, but the mobile base station ID can be set so that up / down identification is possible. Since the mobile terminal can determine whether to go up or down based on the information on the boarding station and the getting off station, it is possible to register the position with the mobile base station of the train in an appropriate direction. If it is necessary to get on a train in the opposite direction due to a change in schedule, etc., when the fixed base station ID near the boarding station becomes unreceivable and another fixed base station ID is received, the movement that can be received at that time The location is registered with the base station ID. However, in this case, since there is a possibility that the information of the disembarkation station is not correctly entered, correct operation cannot be expected near the disembarkation station. Even in such a situation, it is possible to reduce the number of position registrations to the fixed base station while passing by train, and it is possible to avoid the conventional problems.
[0025]
<Get off at the station>
When the user gets off at the station on the way, the portable terminal registers the location with the fixed base station near the station as usual when the train 70 goes away and the mobile base station ID cannot be received. It is considered that the probability that a large number of mobile terminals will get off on the way is very low compared to the probability that a large number of mobile terminals will get off at the destination, and thus it is considered that the possibility of causing concentration of location registration is low.
[0026]
<How to get a fixed base station ID near the disembarkation station>
As the ID of the fixed base station near the disembarkation station, there are various methods such as a method in which the mobile terminal obtains the information at the time of linking with the ticket, and a method of being notified from the mobile communication network when the location is registered with the mobile base station. Can be Alternatively, if the fixed base station ID is constant for a long period of time, it may be stored in the portable terminal during that period.
[0027]
<Awaiting passage>
At the time of waiting for passage, when a power generation vehicle that does not get on enters the platform, the mobile terminal may receive the mobile base station ID of the power generation vehicle and perform location registration with an inappropriate mobile base station. In order to avoid this, it is also possible to adopt a configuration in which the location is registered with the mobile base station after receiving the mobile base station ID for a certain period of time or more using a timer.
[0028]
<Express waiting>
In the case where an ordinary train that does not get on while waiting for the express train to be boarded arrives is waiting at the platform, the mobile base station ID of the ordinary train is received. In this case, even if the above-mentioned timer is used, the location registration is performed in the mobile base station. There are the following methods to avoid this.
[0029]
Method 1: When a limited express train arrives, if the user gets on the limited express train, the mobile base station ID in the ordinary train will not be able to be received soon, and the location will be registered with the limited express mobile base station. For this reason, a duplicate location registration state of the mobile base station will occur within a certain period of time, but unlike a fixed base station near the disembarkation station, duplicate location registration of the mobile base station can be performed only for a limited time There is a way.
[0030]
Method 2: If the configuration is such that location registration is not performed unless a fixed base station ID other than the fixed base station near the boarding station can be received, this can be avoided.
[0031]
<When multiple mobile base station IDs are received>
The situation where the mobile terminal can receive multiple mobile base station IDs is when the user is waiting at home, when passing by a train in the opposite direction, when an express train passes a local train at a station, etc. Can happen. The following can be considered as a method of coping with such a situation.
[0032]
Method 1: Even after receiving a plurality of mobile base station IDs, duplicate location registration is performed after a certain period of time has elapsed. This method is effective when passing a train in the opposite direction.
[0033]
Method 2: When a plurality of mobile base station IDs can be received, location registration is not newly performed, and when one mobile base station can be received, location registration is performed for that base station. Alternatively, if there is a mobile base station whose location is already registered, nothing is performed.
[0034]
<Learning function>
It is during commuting hours that the present invention is considered particularly effective. In commuting, it is highly probable that the user gets on a train at the same time every day using a commuter pass and goes from the same boarding station to the same getting off station. In addition, the number of passengers is also the most time of the day, and location registration is overcrowded. Therefore, by learning the same behavior pattern, the mobile terminal can more efficiently avoid duplicate location registration of the mobile base station. For example, if there is a habit of boarding an express train every day, even if the local train is waiting, the location of the mobile base station of the local train is not registered and the registration of the mobile base station is waited until the express train arrives It is possible to do.
[0035]
<Number of mobile base stations>
A plurality of mobile base stations can be installed for each vehicle. When a plurality of base stations are installed, they may all be the same base station ID, may be individual IDs, or may be grouped and set IDs.
[0036]
FIG. 3 shows a configuration example of the location information management server 40, the moving means 70, the mobile base station 80, and the mobile terminal 90 according to the embodiment of the present invention.
[0037]
The location information management server 40 can communicate with a fixed base station and a mobile base station, and illustration and description of a normal configuration therefor are omitted. The location information management server 40 includes a database 42 for storing in which cell area the mobile terminal is located, and a location detector 44 for notifying the database that the location has changed when the mobile terminal has moved. A location registration function unit 46 for performing location registration of the mobile base station and the fixed base station of the destination in a redundant manner when the mobile terminal issues a location registration request to the mobile base station. The position registration function unit 46 is also provided when the mobile terminal 90 that has been redundantly registered for the mobile base station 80 and the fixed destination base station 20d communicates with the fixed destination base station 20d. The location registration for the 90 mobile base stations 80 can be canceled, and the location registration can be made for only the fixed base station 20d.
[0038]
The mobile terminal 90 can communicate with a mobile communication network via the mobile base station 80 when riding on a mobile means. The illustration and description of the usual wireless configuration for that purpose are omitted. The portable terminal 90 has, for example, a position information storage unit 92 for storing information on a boarding station and alighting station when receiving the information, and a position registration requesting unit 94 for requesting position registration. The location registration request unit 94 determines that the mobile station has moved from the source and moves when receiving radio waves from the mobile base station 80 and radio waves from a fixed base station other than the source fixed base station. It issues a position registration request to the base station 80. At the same time, it is possible to issue a position registration request to the fixed destination base station 20d.
[0039]
The mobile base station 80 installed in the moving means 70 constantly transmits a mobile base station ID that can be distinguished from a fixed base station ID of a normal fixed base station. Illustration and description of a normal wireless configuration are omitted. The mobile base station 80 receives the destination location information from each mobile terminal and stores the location information, and the location registration request of each mobile terminal is collectively registered in the location information management server 40. Has a location registration transfer unit 84. When transferring the location registration request of each mobile terminal to the location information management server 40, the location registration transfer unit 84 may also perform location registration of the mobile terminal fixed destination base station of each mobile terminal to the server 40 in advance. it can. Therefore, the server 40 is configured to receive and store a state in which each mobile terminal has redundantly registered locations for a plurality of base stations.
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to avoid concentration of location registration at a train station in a mobile communication network and concentration of location registration at a cell boundary in the middle of passing by a train or the like. . By avoiding concentration of location registration, wireless resources can be effectively used, and traffic in a mobile communication network can be reduced. As a result, it is possible to reduce call loss at a location where location registration is concentrated, such as a station, and to improve serviceability.
