[0002]
[Prior art]
In a projection-type image display device that modulates light from a light source and displays an image on a projection surface such as a screen by projecting the projection image on the projection surface, a projection image generated when the projection image is not perpendicular to the projection surface such as a screen. [0003]
For example, Patent Literature 1 discloses a projector device in which trapezoidal distortion correction can be performed even on an inclined screen by offsetting a tilt angle of the projector by a screen inclination angle.

[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The projection display device of the present invention includes a light source, a light modulation unit that modulates light from the light source, and a projection optical system that projects the light modulated by the light modulation unit on a projection surface. The present invention is applied to a projection-type image display device that displays an image using modulated light projected on a projection surface by a system. The projection type display device according to the present invention includes an area sensor for detecting a projection image light, and a lens shift control for adjusting a position of the projection image by shifting a projection lens of the projection optical system together with the area sensor in a predetermined direction. Means, a distance calculating means for calculating a distance between the area sensor and the projection surface based on the output signal from the area sensor shifted by the lens shift control means, and a distance between the projection surface and the projection light based on the result of the distance calculation. Is characterized by generating an image on which light modulation is performed in accordance with the image signal corrected by the trapezoidal correction means.
[0008]
Further, in the projection display device of the present invention, the area sensor has a lens for condensing the projection image light on a sensor unit of the area sensor, and the distance calculation means is provided before and after the shift of the area sensor shifted by the lens shift control means. [0009]
Further, the projection type display device of the present invention is configured such that the projection lens and the area sensor shifted by the lens shift control means are shifted in two directions orthogonal to each other, and the distance calculation means is provided at a plurality of positions in each direction. [0010]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
FIG. 1 is a block diagram for explaining an embodiment of the projection display device of the present invention. In the projection display device, a video signal for performing projection display is input from a video signal input terminal 1. The input video signal is signal-processed by the signal processing means 2 and input to the trapezoid correction means 3. The trapezoidal correction means 3 corrects the shape of the projection image on the projection surface according to the relative angle between the projection axis of the projection light and the projection surface such as a screen. That is, here, when the projection cannot be performed from the front with respect to the projection surface (when the projection axis is not perpendicular to the projection surface), the shape of the projection image that would otherwise be trapezoidal is corrected, and projection without distortion is performed. Output the corrected image data to be performed.
Known techniques can be applied to the trapezoidal correction means 3 as described above, and the trapezoidal correction means 3 corrects trapezoidal distortion according to the input relative angle data.
[0011]
The signal output unit 4 outputs the image signal whose distortion has been corrected by the trapezoidal correction unit 3 to the display device 5. The display device 5 uses, for example, a light modulation unit such as a liquid crystal panel or the like, displays a distortion-corrected image signal, and modulates light source light with the display image to display a projection image on a projection surface. it can.
[0012]
The relative angle used for the trapezoidal correction means 3 is calculated based on the detection signal of the area sensor 8. That is, the area sensor 8 detects the image signal projected on the projection surface and outputs the signal to the distance calculation means 7. The distance calculating means 7 calculates the distance between the area sensor 8 and the projection surface based on the image signal detected by the area sensor 8. At this time, the distance calculation means 7 performs a calculation on the signal area specified by the calculation area specification means 9 to calculate the distance between the projection surface and the area sensor 8. The distance measurement calculation processing by the area sensor 8 and the distance calculation means 7 will be described later.
[0013]
The distance data between the area sensor 8 and the projection surface calculated by the distance calculation means 7 is input to the relative angle detection means 6, and the relative angle detection means 6 calculates the distance between the projection axis and the projection surface based on the distance data. Detect the relative angle of. The relative angle data detected by the relative angle detection means 6 is input to the trapezoid correction means 3, and the trapezoidal distortion correction of the projection image signal is executed.
[0014]
In the present invention, the area sensor 8 and the lens shift mechanism by the lens shift control means 10 are used to detect the relative angle between the projection axis and the projection surface. By combining the area sensor 8 and the lens shift mechanism, it is possible to calculate distance data (distance from the projection surface to the area sensor) at a plurality of points in the horizontal and vertical directions. The distance calculation means 7 instructs the lens shift control means 10 to perform a lens shift, shifts the area sensor 8 together with the lens by the lens shift control means 10, and calculates a distance using the area sensor 8 before and after the shift. To do.
[0015]
The distance calculation means 7 outputs an output signal from the area sensor 8 to the calculation area designating means 9. The calculation area specifying means 9 specifies a calculation area to be used for calculating a distance (distance measurement calculation) in the detection signal detected by the area sensor 8. For example, a portion used for calculation can be specified by the calculation region specifying means so as to eliminate the influence of the edge of the screen or the effect outside the screen. The distance calculation means 7 calculates the distance from the area sensor to the projection surface by performing the above-described distance measurement calculation for the designated area.
[0016]
FIG. 2 is a diagram showing the schematic front view of the projection display device according to the present invention, in which 8 is an area sensor, 20 is a projection display device main body, 20f is a front surface of the projection display device main body, and 30 is a projection lens. , Rv is a vertical lens driving range, and Rh is a horizontal lens driving range. In this example, the area sensor 8 is arranged close to the projection lens 30 constituting an optical system for projecting a projection image.
[0017]
The projection display device includes a lens shift mechanism that integrally shifts the projection lens 30 and the area sensor 8 disposed close to the projection lens 30 in the vertical and horizontal directions. By shifting the area sensor 8 in the vertical direction by the lens shift mechanism, distance measurement calculation can be performed in a plurality of areas in the vertical direction, and by shifting the area sensor 8 in the horizontal direction, a plurality of areas in the horizontal direction can be calculated. Distance measurement calculation can be performed in the area.
[0018]
In the example of FIG. 2, the area sensor 8 is configured to be shifted in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction. However, in the present invention, the lens shift direction is not limited to the horizontal and vertical directions, and the projection plane shape and / or According to the shape of the projection surface, the direction can be set to any direction in which optimal distortion correction can be performed.
[0019]
The plurality of distance data calculated by the lens shift are sent to the relative angle detecting means 6 shown in FIG. The relative angle detecting means 6 can calculate the relative angle between the projection surface and the projection axis of the projection light from the plurality of distance data. In this case, the calculated relative angle represents an angle that matches the lens shift direction.
[0020]
The distance measurement calculation processing by the area sensor will be described. FIG. 3 is a diagram illustrating an example of output data from the area sensor, and illustrates digital data generated based on an output signal from the area sensor. FIGS. 3A to 3E show image data of the same area specified by the calculation area specifying means. Digital data obtained when the area sensor 8 is shifted vertically or horizontally by a predetermined distance by the lens shift mechanism is shown in FIG. It is shown. Here, when the position of FIG. 3A is used as a reference, FIG. 3B shows a case where the area sensor 8 is shifted by B in the horizontal direction from FIG. 3A, and FIG. FIG. 3B shows data when the area sensor 8 is further shifted by B from FIG. Similarly, FIG. 3D shows data when the area sensor is shifted by B in the vertical direction from FIG. 3A, and FIG. 3E shows B when the area sensor is shifted in the vertical direction from FIG. 3B. Only the data when the area sensor shifts. As shown in FIG. 3, when the area sensor is shifted by a predetermined amount (B), a signal detected in the same signal area also shifts by a specific amount (ΔX). Note that ΔX changes according to the relative inclination of the projection surface at the distance measurement point.
[0021]
FIG. 4 is a diagram for explaining a process of calculating the distance between the projection surface and the area sensor from the shift amount of the output data by the area sensor. In the figure, reference numeral 8a denotes an area sensor lens, and 70 performs image projection. A projection surface such as a screen, B is a shift distance of the area sensor, L is a distance between the lens 8a of the area sensor and the projection surface 70, and f is a focal length of the lens.
[0022]
The distance calculation means 7 holds output data of the area sensor 8 before and after the lens shift. Then, for example, the image data shown in FIG. 3B is shifted based on the data in FIG. 3A, and a shift amount ΔX when these image data match is obtained.
[0023]
The distance L can be obtained using triangulation from the relationship between the base line length (lens shift amount) B, shift amount ΔX, and focal length f shown in FIG. At this time, the distance calculation means 7 may hold the relationship between the shift amount ΔX and the distance L in advance as a table, and when ΔX is obtained, refer to the table to obtain the distance L. .
[0024]
Then, the above-described processing of calculating the distance L is executed based on the output signals of the area sensor 8 at the two points on which the lens shift has been performed, and a plurality of distance data are calculated in the vertical direction and the horizontal direction. Thus, the relative angle detection means 6 can calculate the relative angle between the screen and the projection axis of the projection light in each direction.
[0025]
For example, in the example of FIG. 3, the distance data calculated from the data shift ΔX and the lens shift amount B in FIGS. 3A and 3B is set to A1, and similarly, FIG. 3B and FIG. Assuming that the distance calculated from ΔX and B) is A2, the relative angle detecting means 6 can calculate the relative inclination of the screen in the horizontal direction from the distance data of A1 and A2.
[0026]
Similarly, when the distance data calculated from the data shift ΔX and the lens shift B in FIGS. 3D and 3E is A3, the relative angle detecting means 6 calculates the distance data from the distance data of A1 and A3. The relative tilt of the screen in the vertical direction can be calculated. Here, the distance measuring point of the distance A3 is characterized in that it is a position shifted vertically to the distance measuring point of the distance A1. By using the distance A1 as a distance measurement point common to each direction, highly accurate relative angle calculation can be performed. For example, at least three distance measurement data including a common point in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction can define the relationship between the normal to the projection surface and the projection axis of the projection light. As a result, a more precise correction operation can be performed.
[0027]
A plurality of distance data calculated on the projection surface by the processing as described above is sent to the relative angle detecting means 6 shown in FIG. The relative angle detecting means 6 can calculate the relative angle between the projection surface and the projection axis of the projection light from the plurality of distance data.
[0028]
FIG. 5 is a diagram for explaining the calculation process of the relative angle between the projection surface and the projection axis of the projection light in the relative angle detection means 6. The relative angle detecting means 6 detects the relative angle from the information on the distance L input from the distance calculating means 7. In this example, it is assumed that the distances L1 and L2 between the area 1 and the area 2 have been input to the relative angle detecting means 6 by the lens shift.
[0029]
The relative angle detecting means 6 calculates d and h shown in FIG. 6 from the distance measurement results L1 and L2 inputted from the distance calculating means 7 and the similarity of the triangles shown in FIG. Angle θ can be obtained.
[0030]
(Equation 1)
[0031]
The relative angle information obtained by the relative angle detecting means 6 is input to the trapezoidal correcting means 3 of FIG. 1 as described above, and the distortion correction of the projected image is executed.
FIG. 7 is a diagram showing the projected image shapes before and after the vertical trapezoidal distortion correction. In the figure, reference numeral 51 denotes a projected image before correction, and 52 denotes a projected image after correction. FIG. 8 is a diagram showing the shape of the projected image before and after the horizontal trapezoidal distortion correction. In the figure, 53 is the projected image before correction, and 54 is the projected image after correction.
[0032]
As described above, according to the present invention, by performing the distance measurement calculation at a plurality of points in two directions by combining the lens shift mechanism and the area sensor, the horizontal and vertical directions (or any two directions orthogonal to each other) are obtained. Keystone distortion correction can be performed. Further, as described above, by using the area sensor and the lens shift mechanism of the present invention, a common ranging point in each direction can be easily designated. 【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, it is not necessary to perform special preparation for distortion correction on a projection surface such as a screen, and the projection-type display device and the screen can be separated from the projection image on the screen. By calculating the relative inclination, it is possible to automatically correct trapezoidal distortion by the projection type display device alone, so that even if the condition of the projection angle changes, it is possible to automatically perform high-precision image projection, High convenience can be provided to the user.
