本発明は、用紙搬送装置に関するもので、詳しくは、複写機、ファクシミリ、プリンタ或いはこれらの少なくとも二つの機能を備えた複合機などとして構成される画像形成装置に装着される用紙搬送部材に付着した紙粉を除去するための構造に関する。

画像形成装置は、給紙カセットや給紙トレイから給紙される用紙を印字転写位置へ搬送し、その位置で用紙上に画像を記録する機構を備える。従来の給紙搬送装置として、例えば電子写真式印刷装置の用紙搬送経路において、印字転写位置より用紙搬送経路上流側に配置された用紙清掃装置であって、先端部に紙粉除去用ブラシを装着したクリーナハウジングと、当該クリーナハウジングと吸引機を接続するホースと、クリーナハウジングと吸引機の中間に設けられたフィルタとからなる用紙清掃装置を備えたものが公知である(特許文献1)。

上記問題点に鑑み、本発明は、定着ローラ対の駆動ローラ等のゴム部材に付着した紙粉を簡素な構成で効果的に除去できるようにすることを課題とする。

この課題は、本発明により、紙粉を有し得る表面に当接して紙粉を除去するためのクリーニング部材と、上記表面の移動方向上流側に位置して同じく上記表面に当接するブラシとから紙粉除去装置を構成することで達成される。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明を、図面に関連した好適な実施形態を基に以下に詳細に説明する。
図1に、本発明が適用される画像形成装置の概略を示す。画像形成装置本体1内には、潜像担持体である感光体ドラム3を有し、周知の電子写真プロセスに基づいて画像形成を行う画像形成部2が設けられている。この画像形成部2の下方には、転写用の用紙を給紙する2段に構成された給紙カセットを備えた給紙部4が設けられている。画像形成装置本体1の側面には手差し給紙部5も備えられ、更にその上方には両面記録のため、用紙の表裏を反転する両面ユニット6も取り付けられている。

このような構成の画像形成装置において、給紙部4若しくは手差し給紙部5から給紙された用紙は共通の搬送ローラ10を介してレジストローラ対11に送られ、当該レジストローラ対11によって感光体ドラム2に形成されたトナー像とタイミングを合わせて転写部に搬送される。転写部には、転写ベルト7が設けられており、当該転写ベルト7の走行によって用紙の表面に未定着トナー像が転写され、更に用紙は上方へ搬送され、定着ローラ対8で挟持される。定着ローラ対8の挟持通紙によって、加熱及び加圧の作用によって未定着トナー像が用紙に永久画像として定着され、上方に搬送される。

定着ローラ対8の上方には、シートの搬送先を排紙部(排紙ローラ対9)か両面ユニット6かに選択的に切り換える切り換え爪12が配置されている。この切り換え爪12は、実線で示す位置にある時、用紙を排紙部9へ導き、鎖線で示す位置にある時は用紙を両面ユニット6へ案内する。

両面ユニット6では、入り口近くに反転爪13が配置され、当該反転爪13に続いて反転ローラ14が設けられている。先ず両面ユニット外の切り換え爪12によって両面ユニット6内に搬送された用紙は、反転爪13が当初実線の位置にあることによって反転ローラ14によってスイッチバック路15に送られ、用紙の後端が反転爪13を抜けると、当該爪が鎖線の位置に切り換わるとともに、反転ローラ14が逆回転を始める。この切り換えによって、用紙は後端が先頭となって両面ユニット搬送路16を通って再びレジストローラ対11に送られる。この際、用紙は表裏が反転されているので、画像形成処理によって裏面に画像が形成されることになる。

図2において、レジスト上ガイド板20及びレジスト下ガイド板21に案内された用紙は、レジスト駆動ローラ11a及びレジスト従動ローラ11bよりなるレジストローラ対11により、タイミングを取りながら転写部に搬送される。レジストローラ対11の用紙搬送下流側に位置するステー22の先端には、ガイドマイラー(商品名)23が設けられ、用紙を転写部へ案内している。ホルダ30の先端に、クリーニング部材としてのシート状スクレーパ31が貼り付けられ、任意の条件でレジスト駆動ローラ11aに当接することで、用紙搬送に際してレジスト駆動ローラ表面に付着した紙粉を除去する。また、スクレーパ31の当接位置上流側において、導電性ブラシ40をレジスト駆動ローラ11aに当接しており、レジスト駆動ローラ11a表面に張り付いた紙粉を浮き上がらせることで、スクレーパ31による紙粉除去を容易にしている。

図3から認識できるように、導電性ブラシ40は、ステー22を介してアースされている。このホルダ30は回収紙粉を蓄積する回収ケース33と共に器を形成してステー22に設けられ、紙粉が満杯になったときには一体で画像形成装置より取り出されて、回収した紙粉を廃棄処分する。またスクレーパ31に摩耗や欠け等の不具合が見られる場合には、ホルダ30ごと交換して画像形成装置に再セットする。クリーニング部材として発泡ポリウレタンのブロック材を使用し紙粉を拭き取るような場合でも、導電性ブラシの存在によって、同様の効果を発揮可能である。
