Description
【0001】

[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the related art, in a head-up display for a vehicle such as an automobile in which display information is displayed as a virtual image having a large magnification, the front window generally has a curved surface shape that is asymmetric in the vertical direction due to the structure of the automobile. Having. Also, the front window has a symmetrical curved shape in the left and right direction, but is positioned at both left and right ends so as to face both the view area of the front window located above and below the instrument panel and the display surface of the display device. Therefore, the optical axis of the concave mirror is inclined in the upward direction of the front window.
Also, when the magnification is large, the radius of curvature suddenly decreases, and in combination with the asymmetrical curved shape of the front window, the distortion of the virtual image due to the display light portion of the display light reflected at the periphery of the concave mirror is remarkable. Had the problem of becoming
As a countermeasure, providing a correction lens or distorting an image in advance increases the cost. However, in order to obtain a large display image at low cost, it is necessary to increase the magnification, which is incompatible.
[0007]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a vehicular display device that can achieve both reduction of a display image and high magnification of a virtual image at low cost. is there.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, according to the first aspect of the present invention, in a vehicle display device for projecting an image on a display unit directly or through a magnifying glass to a front window of a car and displaying the image as a virtual image, a peripheral shape of the image is determined. The present invention is characterized in that an image peripheral frame to be formed is provided in a shape distorted in advance.
The “peripheral shape of an image” in the present invention refers to the shape of the entire image represented by a rectangle, an ellipse, a polygon, or a peripheral edge that is in contact with the outside of an image having a complicated combination.
[0009]
According to the second aspect of the present invention, the image of the display unit is formed in a substantially rectangular shape, and an image peripheral frame distorted so as to cover the periphery of the image of the substantially rectangular display unit is attached to the display unit. It is a characteristic means.
[0010]
Function and Effect of the Invention
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the image displayed on the front window is distorted by distorting the image peripheral frame in advance, but the peripheral shape of the image becomes a display image with the distortion corrected. As a human visual characteristic (illusion), even if there is some distortion in the content of the image, if the peripheral shape is not distorted, little or no distortion is felt. Therefore, a special image processing circuit for correcting distortion, such as a magnifying glass, or a lens such as a correction lens is not required, and both distortion correction and high magnification can be achieved at low cost.
[0011]
According to the second aspect of the present invention, the image distortion when displayed on the front window is corrected by attaching the image peripheral frame distorted so as to cover the peripheral edge of the image on the rectangular display unit. Since a rectangular image has a straight line portion and its shape is easily recognized by a human, it is easy for a human to feel that the distortion has been corrected. Further, since it is sufficient to attach the image peripheral frame, the cost can be reduced and used for the existing display, and the attachment can be easily performed, and the cost can be further reduced.
