TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ink jet printer, and more particularly, to a measure capable of performing stable printing and smooth borderless printing.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In general, an ink jet printer includes a platen on which a recording medium is placed, and a print head that is provided to face the platen and discharges ink toward the recording medium conveyed along the platen. I have.
[0003]
Further, as another inkjet printer, a recording medium transported on the transport belt device includes a transport belt device having air suction means for sucking air, and a print head provided opposite to the transport belt device. There is also conventionally known a device in which printing is performed on a recording medium by ink ejected from the print head toward the recording medium while holding the recording medium by suction (for example, see Patent Document 1).
[0004]
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-8-174941
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Meanwhile, as a recent trend, so-called borderless printing, in which printing is performed on the entire surface of a recording medium, is becoming mainstream. In such borderless printing, of the ink ejected from the print head to the edge of the recording medium, the ink ejected outside the edge of the recording medium becomes an ink mist unnecessary for printing, and this ink mist is Adhesion to the vicinity causes in-machine contamination of the ink-jet printer and causes contamination of a recording medium and deterioration of printing.
[0006]
In this case, in the above-described conventional apparatus, the ink mist (ink) ejected from the edges at both ends in the width direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction of the recording medium can be collected by using a suction mechanism or the like. However, the ink mist (ink) discharged from the edges of the recording medium in both ends in the conveyance direction adheres to the belt of the conveyance belt device or floats due to convection caused by the rotation of the conveyance belt device. This may cause the inside of the ink jet printer to become dirty, or stain the recording medium to cause print deterioration.
[0007]
The present invention has been made in view of such a point, and an object of the present invention is to reliably collect ink mist ejected from edges of both ends of a recording medium in a conveying direction and to form an ink mist on a belt of a conveying belt device. It is an object of the present invention to provide an ink jet printer that can reliably prevent printing deterioration due to adhesion to a recording medium, contamination inside the apparatus, and contamination of a recording medium.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, according to the present invention, a platen on which a recording medium is placed, and a print head which is provided to face the platen and discharges ink toward the recording medium conveyed along the platen, It is assumed that an inkjet printer is provided. And, at least one of the upstream side of the platen in the recording medium conveyance direction and the downstream side in the conveyance direction is provided with a conveyance belt device having a large number of holes in the belt, and the conveyance belt device is provided with holes through the belt. Air suction means for sucking air. Further, by the air suction means, the recording medium conveyed on the belt is held by suction, and unnecessary ink mist ejected from the print head is sucked through between the platen and the conveyance belt device. I have.
[0009]
According to this specific matter, the ink mist (ink) discharged from the edges at both ends in the transport direction of the recording medium when performing the borderless printing is sucked by the air suction means through between the platen and the transport belt device. Therefore, the ink mist ejected from the edges of the recording medium at both ends in the conveyance direction does not adhere to the belt of the conveyance belt device. Furthermore, even if the ink mist is floating due to the action of convection generated by the rotation of the transport belt device, the ink mist will be smoothly sucked between the platen and the transport belt device or through a number of holes in the belt, Floating ink mist does not stain the inside of the ink jet printer, and does not stain the recording medium to cause print deterioration.
[0010]
Also, since the recording medium conveyed on the belt is held on the belt by suction by the air suction means, there is almost no change in the height of the surface of the conveyed recording medium, and from the print head to the surface of the recording medium. The change in the distance is small, and stable printing can be performed. In addition, the suction of the recording medium on the belt also prevents the recording medium from rising at the leading end and the trailing end of the recording medium, thereby enabling stable printing at the leading end and the trailing end of the recording medium.
[0011]
In particular, the following configuration is specified as specifying the transport belt device.
[0012]
That is, the transport belt devices are provided adjacent to each other on the upstream side of the platen in the recording medium transport direction and on the downstream side of the platen in the recording paper transport direction.
[0013]
According to this specific matter, the ink mist (ink) ejected from the edges of both ends in the conveying direction of the recording medium is discharged from the platen to the conveying belt devices upstream of the platen in the recording medium conveying direction and downstream of the platen in the recording medium conveying direction. Since the air is sucked by the air suction means through the space, the ink mist discharged from the edges of the recording medium in both ends in the conveyance direction is more effectively prevented from adhering to the belt of the conveyance belt device. Further, even if the ink mist floats due to the action of convection generated by the rotation of the transport belt device, etc., the ink mist may not move between the platen and the transport belt devices on the upstream side in the recording medium transport direction and the downstream side in the recording medium transport direction, or on the belt. The ink is more smoothly sucked through the large number of holes, and effectively prevents the floating ink mist from soiling the inside of the ink jet printer or soiling the recording medium and causing print deterioration.
[0014]
Then, the recording medium conveyed on the belt is held on the belts of the conveyance belt devices on the upstream side of the platen in the recording medium conveyance direction and on the downstream side of the recording medium conveyance direction by suction by the air suction means. The recording medium can be smoothly transferred on the belts of the transport belt devices on the upstream side in the recording medium transport direction and on the downstream side in the recording medium transport direction.
[0015]
Further, when the suction range of the transport belt device by the air suction means is set between the vertexes of the rollers at both ends where the belt is wound, when the recording medium is carried out from the belt, The recording medium does not get caught along, and the flatness of the recording medium is easily maintained. In addition, when the recording medium is conveyed onto the belt, the recording medium is attracted to the flat portion of the belt between the vertices of the rollers at both ends, so that the recording medium is hardly bent and the recording medium is hardly bent. The belt is sucked only at the flat portion of the belt and is stably conveyed.
[0016]
When the transport speed of the recording medium by the transport belt device on the downstream side in the recording medium transport direction of the platen is set higher than the transport speed of the recording medium by the transport belt device on the upstream side in the transport direction of the platen, When the recording medium straddles the transport belt device on the upstream side in the recording medium transport direction and the transport belt device on the downstream side in the recording medium transport direction with the platen interposed therebetween, the recording medium is transported by the transport belt device on the downstream side in the recording medium transport direction. Will be pulled. Therefore, the deflection of the recording medium that occurs between the transport belt device on the upstream side of the platen in the recording medium transport direction and the transport belt device on the downstream side in the recording medium transport direction is eliminated. In addition, even when the recording medium is stretched due to ink adsorption, the recording medium is prevented from being bent or wavy due to the ink adsorption due to the pulling effect of the recording medium by the transport belt device on the downstream side in the recording medium transport direction. Become.
[0017]
Further, when the air suction force of the air suction means of the conveyance belt device on the downstream side of the platen in the recording medium conveyance direction is set stronger than the air suction means of the conveyance belt device on the upstream side of the platen in the recording medium conveyance direction. When the recording medium straddles the transport belt device on the upstream side in the recording medium transport direction and the transport belt device on the downstream side in the recording medium transport direction with the platen interposed therebetween, the leading end side of the recording medium is downstream of the platen in the recording medium transport direction. The recording medium is conveyed more stably, and the leading end of the recording medium is stably conveyed, and the recording medium is conveyed stably as a whole.
[0018]
Then, a concave portion extending in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction of the recording medium is provided on the mounting surface of the platen, and when the leading end and the rear end in the conveying direction of the recording medium are located on the concave portion, In a case where ink is ejected from the print head toward the leading end and the trailing end in the transport direction, when performing borderless printing, the ink mist ( The ink) is collected in the concave portion of the platen, and does not stain the mounting surface of the platen.
[0019]
Further, when a plurality of ribs extending in the transport direction of the recording medium are provided at predetermined intervals in a direction orthogonal to the transport direction of the recording medium on the mounting surface of the platen, the recording medium is used when performing borderless printing. Even if ink mist ejected from the edges at both ends in the conveyance direction adheres to the platen mounting surface, the ink mist only adheres to the ribs, minimizing stains on the back side of the recording medium. Can be suppressed. In addition, the transfer of the recording medium on the mounting surface on the upstream side of the platen in the recording medium conveyance direction and the mounting surface on the downstream side in the recording medium conveyance direction of the platen can be smoothly performed by each rib, and the recording medium conveyed. Is effectively prevented from falling into the recess.
[0020]
In particular, the present invention provides an ink jet printer having a configuration different from that described above to achieve the above object.
[0021]
Specifically, an inkjet comprising a platen on which a recording medium is placed, and a print head provided to face the platen and ejecting ink toward the recording medium conveyed along the platen Assuming a printer, a transport belt device having a number of holes in a belt is provided adjacent to at least one of the upstream side and the downstream side of the platen in the recording medium transport direction, and air is provided below the transport belt device. And a length of the mounting surface of the platen in the recording medium conveyance direction is set to be shorter than an ink discharge width of the print head in the recording medium conveyance direction.
[0022]
According to this specific matter, since the mounting surface length of the platen in the recording medium conveyance direction is shorter than the ink ejection width of the print head in the recording medium conveyance direction, the printing medium is printed on the platen when performing borderless printing. As long as the ink mist (ink) ejected from the edges of both ends in the transport direction of the recording medium does not adhere to the platen mounting surface, the platen mounting surface is contaminated by the ink mist. There is no.
[0023]
Also, since the recording medium conveyed on the belt is held on the belt by suction by the air suction means, there is almost no change in the height of the surface of the conveyed recording medium, and from the print head to the surface of the recording medium. The change in the distance is small, and stable printing can be performed. In addition, the suction of the recording medium on the belt also prevents the recording medium from rising at the leading end and the trailing end of the recording medium, thereby enabling stable printing at the leading end and the trailing end of the recording medium.
[0024]
In particular, the following configuration is provided to specify the timing of printing by the print head.
[0025]
That is, when the leading edge of the transported recording medium is located between the edge of the platen mounting surface and the transport belt device, or the leading edge of the transported recording medium is downstream of the platen mounting surface in the paper transport direction. The ink is ejected from the print head to print near the leading edge of the recording medium when the recording medium reaches the end or before the leading edge of the transported recording medium reaches the upstream edge of the platen mounting surface in the paper transport direction. I am trying to do it.
[0026]
With this specific matter, when performing borderless printing near the leading end of the recording medium, the ink mist ejected from the print head does not adhere to the platen mounting surface, and the platen mounting surface is Dirt can be reliably prevented.
[0027]
On the other hand, when the rear end of the conveyed recording medium is located between the end of the platen mounting surface and the conveying belt device, or when the rear end of the conveyed recording medium is on the platen mounting surface The recording head ejects ink from the print head when the recording medium reaches the downstream end in the paper conveyance direction or until the rear end of the recording medium conveyed reaches the upstream end in the paper conveyance direction on the platen mounting surface. If printing is performed near the rear end of the print medium, when performing borderless printing near the rear end of the recording medium, ink mist discharged from the print head may adhere to the platen mounting surface. Accordingly, it is possible to reliably prevent the platen mounting surface from being stained by ink mist.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, in the present invention, when performing borderless printing, the ink mist ejected from the edges of the recording medium at both ends in the transport direction is sucked through the gap between the platen and the transport belt device, Ink mist can be prevented from adhering to the belt of the transport belt device. In addition, the floating ink mist is smoothly sucked between the platen and the conveyor belt device or through a large number of holes in the belt, so that the floating ink mist can prevent the inside of the inkjet printer from being stained by the ink mist. And good printing can be performed. Moreover, by holding the recording medium on the belt by suction by the air suction means, the change in the height of the recording medium surface is eliminated, and the change in the distance from the print head to the surface of the recording medium is made small, and stable. It is possible to perform stable printing at the front and rear ends of the recording medium by preventing floating of the recording medium at the front and rear ends of the recording medium.

In addition, by providing a conveyance belt device adjacent to the platen upstream in the recording medium conveyance direction and downstream of the platen in the recording paper conveyance direction, ink mist deviated from both edges of the recording medium in the conveyance direction can be removed by the platen and the conveyance belt. It is possible to more effectively prevent the ink mist that has been sucked through the gap between the recording medium and the edges of the recording medium in the transport direction from both ends in the transport direction from adhering to the belt of the transport belt device. In addition, the floating ink mist can be more smoothly sucked between the platen and the conveyor belt device or through a large number of holes in the belt, and the ink mist floating inside the ink jet printer and the recording medium can be printed. Deterioration can also be effectively prevented.
[0058]
Then, by holding the recording medium on the belt of the transport belt device by suction by the air suction means, it is possible to smoothly transfer the recording medium on the belt of the transport belt device across the platen.
[0059]
Further, by setting the suction range of the transport belt device by the air suction means between the vertices of the rollers at both ends of the belt, it is possible to prevent the recording medium from being entangled along the curved surface of the roller when the recording medium is carried out from the belt. As a result, the flatness of the recording medium can be easily maintained. Moreover, when the recording medium is loaded onto the belt, the recording medium is attracted to the flat portion of the belt between the vertices of the rollers at both ends, so that the recording medium can be hardly bent. The recording medium can be stably conveyed by attracting the recording medium only at the flat portion of the belt.
[0060]
By setting the transport speed of the recording medium by the transport belt device downstream of the platen in the recording medium transport direction faster than the transport speed of the recording medium by the transport belt device upstream of the platen in the transport direction of the recording medium, the platen is sandwiched. Thus, the recording medium straddling between the conveying belt devices is pulled by the conveying belt device on the downstream side in the recording medium conveying direction, so that the bending of the recording medium generated between the two conveying belt devices can be eliminated. In addition, the recording medium stretched due to the ink suction can also be prevented from bending or waving due to the ink suction due to the pulling effect of the transport belt device on the downstream side in the print medium transport direction.
[0061]
Also, by setting the air suction force of the air suction means of the conveyance belt device downstream of the platen in the recording medium conveyance direction to be stronger than the air suction means of the conveyance belt device upstream of the platen in the recording medium conveyance direction, The leading end side of the recording medium straddling and sandwiching between the conveying belt devices is more strongly adsorbed on the belt of the conveying belt device on the downstream side of the platen in the recording medium conveying direction, and the leading end of the recording medium is stably conveyed, and the recording medium is transferred. The whole can be stably conveyed.
[0062]
Then, a concave portion extending in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction of the recording medium is provided on the mounting surface of the platen, and when the leading end and the rear end in the conveying direction of the recording medium are positioned on the concave portion, By discharging ink from the print head toward the front end in the conveyance direction and the rear end in the conveyance direction, the ink mist that has come off from the edges of the recording medium in both ends in the conveyance direction when performing borderless printing is collected in the recess of the platen, It is possible to prevent the mounting surface of the platen from being stained by the ink mist.
[0063]
Further, by providing a plurality of ribs extending in the recording medium conveyance direction at predetermined intervals in a direction orthogonal to the recording medium conveyance direction on the platen mounting surface, the recording medium conveyance direction when performing borderless printing is performed. The ink mist deviating from the edges at both ends is adhered only to the ribs, and the stain on the back surface of the recording medium can be minimized. Moreover, the transfer of the recording medium on the mounting surface of the platen sandwiching the concave portion can be smoothly performed by each rib, and it is possible to effectively prevent the recording medium from falling into the concave portion.
[0064]
On the other hand, by setting the length of the mounting surface of the platen in the recording medium conveyance direction shorter than the ink ejection width of the print head in the recording medium conveyance direction, the printing medium is printed on the platen when performing borderless printing. As long as the ink mist is removed from the edges of both ends in the transport direction of the recording medium, the ink mist does not adhere to the mounting surface of the platen, and it is possible to reliably prevent the mounting surface of the platen from being soiled by the ink mist. Further, the floating ink mist is smoothly sucked between the platen and the conveyor belt device or through a number of holes of the belt, and the floating ink mist contaminates the inside of the ink jet printer or the recording medium, thereby deteriorating the printing deterioration. Invitation can also be prevented.
[0065]
Further, when the leading end of the recording medium is located between the end of the platen mounting surface and the transport belt, or the leading end of the transported recording medium reaches the downstream end of the platen mounting surface in the sheet transport direction. During or before the leading end of the recording medium being conveyed reaches the upstream end of the platen mounting surface in the sheet conveying direction, ink is ejected from the print head to print near the leading end of the recording medium, When performing borderless printing on the vicinity of the leading end of the recording medium, it is possible to reliably prevent the platen mounting surface from being stained by ink mist.
[0066]
Further, when the rear end of the recording medium is located between the end of the platen mounting surface and the conveying belt device, or when the rear end of the conveyed recording medium is the downstream end of the platen mounting surface in the sheet conveyance direction. Or when the trailing edge of the transported recording medium reaches the upstream edge of the platen mounting surface in the paper transport direction, ink is ejected from the print head and the vicinity of the trailing edge of the recording medium is discharged. By performing printing, it is possible to reliably prevent stains on the platen mounting surface due to ink mist when performing borderless printing near the rear end of the recording medium.
