Abstract
Description
【0001】

図2において、表示装置1は、表示部10と、入力部20と、CPU(Central Processing Unit)30と、ROM(Read Only Memory)40と、RAM(Random Access Memory)50と、電源回路60とを含んで構成される。
【0026】
RAM50は、SDRAM(Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory)等のメモリによって構成され、表示装置1が動作する際に生成される種々のデータを一時的に保持する。

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a display device and a display processing program for displaying content such as an electronic book.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, printed books are often carried around when the user goes out, and browsed at places such as inside a train.
In such a case, due to the bulkiness and weight of the printed book, about 2 to 3 small and light books such as a book and 1 book for a fixed size or weight such as a hardcover book are used. Most people carry books.
[0003]
Therefore, the reader of the book decides the book to read while out and goes out.
On the other hand, in recent years, digitized book data (electronic book) has been browsed using a portable display device (notebook personal computer, portable information terminal, or the like).
[0004]
In such a display device, a large number of book data can be stored, so that a large number of electronic books can be carried at once.
Therefore, it is anticipated that usage forms in which an electronic book of interest is stored on a display device and a reader selects what he wants to read from a large number of electronic books when reading is to be read are expected to increase. You.
[0005]
By the way, a place to read when going out is typically on a train while commuting. In such a case, the criterion for a reader to select one from a large number of electronic books is mainly a book. Is considered to be the time at which reading of all or up to one break can be completed.
That is, it is considered that the reader selects an electronic book capable of finishing reading all or one section of the book within the time of getting on the train.
[0006]
Therefore, if the time required to read the electronic book can be estimated and the reader can be informed in advance, it is easy to select an appropriate electronic book, which is convenient for the reader.
This is common not only when going out, but also when reading a book at a time, such as before going to bed.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the technique described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 9-062699 is a technique for setting the visual speed based on the scheduled reading time set by the reader himself, and does not predict the time required to read the electronic book. Did not.
Further, the technique described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2-178763 is a technique for accurately measuring the time from the start of reading to the end of reading for a certain book. This technique is also used to read an electronic book. It did not predict how long it would take.
[0010]
Therefore, in the related art, it has been difficult to select an appropriate one corresponding to the reading time from a large number of electronic books.
Note that the reading time varies greatly depending on the author, genre, etc. of the book, and it is more convenient if the reading time is predicted in accordance with these.
An object of the present invention is to be able to present an accurate estimated reading time in an electronic book.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention provides
A display device for displaying an electronic book which is digitized book data, wherein a predetermined element of the electronic book to be displayed (for example, “author information” or “content classification” shown in a reading speed table in FIG. 3) The present invention is characterized in that an estimated reading time estimated to be required for reading the electronic book can be displayed based on supplementary information including a reading speed corresponding to the reading speed.
[0012]
That is, since the supplementary information includes the reading speed of each specific element of the electronic book for a specific reader, the reader can present an accurate expected reading time when reading any electronic book.
The supplementary information includes attribute information based on the nature of the electronic book itself (for example, “author information” or “content classification” in the reading speed table in FIG. 3) and reading depending on the situation in which the reader reads the electronic book. Condition information (for example, “train speed” or “home speed” shown in FIG. 8, “reading position” indicating the progress of reading an electronic book, or “reading time zone indicating the time zone and day of the week when reading is performed” , Etc.) as the predetermined element.
[0013]
Further, the attribute information includes at least one of author information about an author of the electronic book and content classification information about a genre of the electronic book.
The reading condition information includes location information (for example, “train speed” or “home speed”) related to a place where reading is performed, and reading position information (for example, “reading position”) related to the progress of reading in the electronic book. ) And time zone information relating to the time zone or day of the week (for example, "morning speed", "night speed", "weekday speed" or "holiday speed"). It is characterized by.
[0014]
In addition, the attribute information is extracted from the electronic book to be displayed, the input of the reading condition information is received, the reading speed according to the extracted attribute information and the input reading condition information, and the number of characters of the electronic book are changed. And the estimated reading time is calculated based on the above.
Further, it is characterized in that at least one of an expected reading time for the entire electronic book and an expected reading time for a predetermined section (for example, “chapter” or the like) included in the electronic book can be displayed.
[0015]
Further, for the electronic book to be displayed, when the attribute information includes the author information, the expected reading time is calculated based on a reading speed according to the author information, and the author information is included in the attribute information. If not included, the expected reading time is calculated based on the reading speed according to the content classification information.
[0016]
If the attribute information does not include any of the author information and the content classification information for an electronic book to be displayed, the display object is averaged by averaging all the attribute information for other electronic books. Attribute information about the electronic book to be used.
In addition, when an electronic book is displayed, a reading speed of the electronic book can be detected based on an input operation of turning a page of the electronic book (for example, an input operation of the
[0017]
Also, based on the detected reading speed of the electronic book, a predetermined reading speed included in the supplementary information (a reading speed corresponding to a predetermined element of the electronic book whose reading speed is detected in the supplementary information) is updated. It is characterized by being possible.
Further, the reading speed of the detected electronic book is different from the reading speed to be updated included in the supplementary information by a predetermined distance (for example, the reading speed of the detected electronic book is smaller than the reading speed to be updated). If it is determined that the reading speed is larger than ± 30%, the updating based on the reading speed is not performed.
[0018]
According to the present invention,
A display processing program for displaying an electronic book, which is digitized book data, on a display device, wherein the electronic book is read based on supplementary information including a reading speed corresponding to a predetermined element of the electronic book to be displayed. The present invention is characterized in that a function of displaying an estimated reading time estimated to be necessary for the display is realized on the display device.
According to the present invention, it is possible to present an accurate estimated reading time for an arbitrary electronic book based on supplementary information. At this time, the estimated reading time can be presented in units of a predetermined section such as the entire electronic book or “chapter”.
Therefore, the reader selects an electronic book (one book or a predetermined section) that can finish reading within the scheduled reading time while comparing the estimated reading time with the expected reading time of the electronic book. This makes it possible to prevent a situation where the scheduled reading time ends and the reading must be interrupted despite the poorly-separated reading position.
[0019]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, an embodiment of a display device according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
First, the configuration will be described.

FIG. 3 shows the contents of the reading speed table.
In FIG. 3, the reading speed table includes “author information” indicating information about the creator of the electronic book, “content classification” indicating the genre of the electronic book, and “reading speed” indicating the time required to read the unit number of characters. Are stored in association with each other.
In general, works of the same author are written in a similar style, and the reading speed of the reader is considered to be almost the same. In addition, readers tend to purchase the works of the author who find it interesting to read. Thus, in the reading speed table, “author information” is an element.
[0028]
Also, even when the authors are different, it is considered that the reading speed can be characterized by the genre to which the electronic book belongs. For example, it is considered that the reading speed of a novel is different between an overseas work and a domestic work, and that the reading speed is different between a business book and a detective novel. Therefore, in the reading speed table, “content classification” is an element.
[0029]
The “author information” and the “content classification” are included in the electronic book, and are used when recording in the reading speed table. The “reading speed” is an actually measured value acquired in the reading speed detection process, and is a reading time per unit number of characters (for example, 100 characters or the like).
Returning to FIG. 2, when the electronic data is browsed, a part or all of the data read from the

It is possible to calculate the average. Also, if there is a certain difference or more between the calculated reading speed and the reading speed of the content classification, the reading speed can be discarded.

FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating an example of a display screen when the display device 1 displays the expected reading time.
[0044]
In FIG. 6, "content name", which is the title of the electronic book, and the estimated reading time are displayed in association with each other, and the reader may refer to the expected reading time and finish reading within the reading time. It is possible to select a possible e-book.
The expected reading time can be calculated from the number of characters included in the electronic book and the reading speed stored in the reading speed table.
Also, by selecting any content on the display screen shown in FIG. 6 and pressing (selecting) a switch button displayed as “Chapter Item”, the expected reading time of the next chapter to be read for that content is selected. Is displayed. That is, the display device 1 stores the previously displayed position of the electronic book, and displays the next chapter when the display is completed to the end of the chapter, and the remaining part of the chapter when displayed to the middle of the chapter. The estimated reading time is displayed.
[0045]
In this case, for the unread electronic book, the estimated reading time of the first chapter is displayed.
Further, it is considered that there is a case where it is desired to know the expected reading time for each shorter section, such as each chapter in one electronic book, as well as the next chapter. Therefore, in such a case, by selecting an electronic book, it is possible to display a shorter estimated reading time for each break.
[0046]
FIG. 7 is a diagram illustrating an example of a display screen when the estimated reading time is displayed in chapter units.
In FIG. 7, in the electronic book shown in FIG. 6, the estimated reading time for each chapter is displayed for “XX Murder Case”, and the reader can read the reading time for one or more chapters. It is possible to select an electronic book by judging whether or not it is the expected reading time to finish reading within.
[0047]
In addition, by displaying the estimated reading time at each shorter break, the context of the chapter is relatively insignificant, such as in a technical book, and the reader selects and reads only the chapter of interest. Then, it becomes possible to select an appropriate chapter according to the scheduled reading time.
Note that, for an electronic book that is currently being read, the reading position is displayed as a “bookmark” as shown in FIG. If there is a bookmark in the middle of a chapter, the estimated reading time of the remaining chapter is displayed.
[0048]
Returning to FIG. 5, if it is determined in step S103 that the extracted creator information is not stored in the reading speed table, the
If it is determined in step S106 that the extracted content classification is not stored in the reading speed table, the
[0049]
On the other hand, if it is determined in step S106 that the extracted content classification is stored in the reading speed table, the
Here, when a plurality of electronic books are stored in the display device 1, the
[0050]
Note that, in the present embodiment, the reading speed per unit number of characters has been described as an example of the reading speed, but the reading time per page can be defined as the reading speed.
As described above, the display device 1 according to the present embodiment stores the reading speed of the reader in correspondence with the author information or the content classification of the electronic book, and calculates the accurate estimated reading time for each electronic book. Can be displayed. At this time, the estimated reading time can be displayed in units of one electronic book or a shorter section.
[0051]
Thus, the reader selects an e-book (one or shorter breaks) that can be read within the expected reading time while comparing the expected reading time with the expected reading time of the e-book. This makes it possible to prevent a situation where the scheduled reading time ends and the reading must be interrupted despite the poorly-separated reading position.
[0052]
Here, when an e-book is selected based on the expected reading time, not only an e-book that ends reading within the scheduled reading time, but also the estimated reading time for the estimated reading time is one guideline. It is also possible for readers to adjust their reading speed. For example, it is possible to select a slightly longer reading time than the expected reading time and to slightly increase the reading speed so as to finish reading at the scheduled reading time.
[0053]
Therefore, as a measure of the reading speed, it is possible to count down the estimated reading time while displaying the electronic book.
Note that, in the present embodiment, a case where “reading speed” is stored in association with “author information” and “content classification” as in the reading speed table shown in FIG. 3 has been described as an example. However, the reading speed may be stored in association with a more detailed item, and a more accurate predicted reading speed may be displayed.
[0054]
FIG. 8 is a diagram illustrating an example in which the items of the reading speed table are detailed.
8, the "content classification" and the "author information" are stored in the reading speed table in association with each other as in FIG. 3, and the "train" indicating the time required to read the unit number of characters in the train. “Internal speed”, “home speed” indicating the time required to read the number of unit characters at home, and “average speed” indicating the average value of “train speed” and “home speed” are stored in association with each other. I have.
[0055]
It is thought that the reading environment has a great influence on the speed of reading in addition to the author and genre of the work, and in general, there is a lot of noise inside the train, it is difficult to concentrate on reading, and there is little noise at home, It is considered that the environment is easy to concentrate on reading. Therefore, in the reading speed table shown in FIG. 8, “train speed” and “home speed” are elements.
[0056]
Note that the “train speed” and “home speed” are actually measured values acquired in the reading speed detection process, and are reading times per unit number of characters (for example, 100 characters). When acquiring "speed in train" or "home speed" in reading speed detection processing, when reading an e-book, readers enter that they are in a train or at home to classify and acquire, respectively. It is possible to do.
[0057]
Although not shown in FIG. 8, the reading speed can be further stored in association with the “reading position” of the electronic book.
That is, it is possible to classify and store the reading speed according to whether the first half or the second half of the electronic book is being read (reading progress).
In general, in the first half of a novel, etc., it is still beginning to read, the degree of being drawn into the story is small, the reading speed tends to be low, and in the second half of the climax, the degree of being drawn into the story is Reading speed tends to be high because of the large size.
[0058]
Therefore, by storing the reading speed in association with the reading position (“first half” or “second half”), it is possible to more accurately display the expected reading time.
Similarly, although not shown in FIG. 8, it is also possible to classify and store the reading speed according to the "reading time zone" indicating the time zone or day of the week when the electronic book is read.
[0059]
Generally, the reading speed changes depending on when the content is read. For example, in the case of a morning person, the reading speed tends to be higher in the morning and lower before going to bed. On the other hand, in the case of a night person, the reading speed may decrease in the morning and increase before bedtime. In addition, when reading on a weekday, the reading speed may be reduced due to being tired at work or school, and when reading can be performed slowly on a holiday, the reading time may be increased.
[0060]
Therefore, by storing the reading speed corresponding to the reading time zone ("am", "afternoon", "night", etc.) and the day of the week ("weekday", "holiday", etc.), more accurate prediction Reading time can be displayed. Specifically, "Morning speed" indicates the time required to read the unit character in the morning, "PM speed" indicates the time required to read the unit character in the afternoon, and the time required to read the unit character at night It is possible to store "night speed" indicating time, "weekday speed" indicating time required to read the number of unit characters on weekdays, "holiday speed" required to read the number of unit characters on holidays, and the like. At this time, by using the clock function of the electronic book terminal, it is possible to calculate and display the expected reading time in the time zone or day of the week when the display instruction of the expected reading time is issued.
[0061]
Note that, in addition to the display screen examples shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, the display screen can take various forms.
