TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an electro-optical device including pixels including light-emitting elements, and more particularly, to an image display device suitable for suppressing display unevenness of an image by gradation display and an image size to be input to the electro-optical device. The present invention relates to an image processing device suitable for converting the image into a number corresponding to the number of scanning lines.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, an electro-optical device, for example, a liquid crystal display device using liquid crystal as an electro-optical material has been widely used as a display device in place of a cathode ray tube (CRT) in a display unit of various information processing equipment and a liquid crystal television. Here, in the conventional electro-optical device, for example, an element substrate provided with pixel electrodes arranged in a matrix, switching elements connected to the pixel electrodes, and a counter electrode facing the pixel electrodes are formed. It is composed of an opposing substrate and a liquid crystal as an electro-optical material filled between the two substrates. Then, in such a configuration, when one certain scanning line is selected, the switching element becomes conductive. In this conduction state, when an image signal of a voltage corresponding to the gradation is applied to the pixel electrode via the data line, a charge corresponding to the voltage of the image signal is applied to the liquid crystal layer between the pixel electrode and the counter electrode. Is accumulated. After the charge storage, even if the switching element is turned off, the charge storage in the liquid crystal layer is maintained by the capacitance of the liquid crystal layer itself, the storage capacitance, and the like. As described above, when each switching element is driven and the amount of charge to be stored is controlled according to the gradation, the alignment state of the liquid crystal changes for each pixel. For this reason, since the density changes for each pixel, it is possible to perform gradation display.
[0003]
At this time, since it is sufficient to accumulate charges in the liquid crystal layer of each pixel during a part of the period, first, each scanning line is sequentially selected, and second, the pixels intersecting with the selected scanning line are selected. By applying an image signal having a voltage corresponding to the gradation of the pixel to the corresponding data line, time-division multiplex driving in which the scanning line and the data line are shared by a plurality of pixels can be performed.
[0004]
However, the image signal applied to the data line is a voltage corresponding to the gradation of the pixel, that is, an analog signal. For this reason, a peripheral circuit of the electro-optical device requires a D / A conversion circuit, an operational amplifier, and the like, thereby increasing the cost of the entire device. Further, display unevenness occurs due to the characteristics of the D / A conversion circuit and the operational amplifier and the non-uniformity of various wiring resistances, so that it is extremely difficult to perform high-quality display. There is a problem that it becomes remarkable when displaying. There is also a problem such as an increase in power consumption due to the D / A conversion circuit and the operational amplifier.
[0005]
Therefore, a method of controlling the light emission time of the electro-optical element to obtain a gradation has been developed. In this method, a binary signal (digital signal) indicating whether or not the electro-optical element emits light may be supplied to the data line, and there is an advantage that the above-described analog circuit which adversely affects image quality is not required. However, there is a problem that the time for selecting a scanning line is too long in performing this control.
[0006]
Therefore, a non-sequential scanning method has been developed as a driving method of a liquid crystal display using a digital signal to solve the above problem. This is equivalent to the number of bits of a bit string constituting grayscale data having a bit length N indicating the light emission grayscale of the optical element. n Based on the numerical value group corresponding to the ratio of the values (n = 0, 1, 2,..., (N−1)), the scanning lines are arranged in a specific order (the order in which the scanning lines are not arranged but not arranged in order). ), The gradation is obtained by controlling the light emission time of the optical element (for example, see Patent Document 1).

[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-2001-166730.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the above-described electro-optical device that performs the non-sequential scanning, the image data side is not created in accordance with the non-sequential scanning, and therefore, an addition number obtained by adding 1 to the number of scanning lines determined by the image data. Is the number of bits 2 in the bit string constituting the above-described gradation data. n In some cases, it is impossible to accurately divide into numerical value groups according to the ratio of the values (n = 0, 1, 2,..., (N−1)). Therefore, especially when displaying an image whose display content changes rapidly, such as a moving image, the image quality may be significantly deteriorated due to the inability to accurately divide the image.
[0009]
Therefore, the present invention has been made by focusing on such unresolved problems of the conventional technology, and the number of additions obtained by adding 1 to the number of scanning lines is 2 n By converting the size of the image displayed on the display area consisting of the number of scanning lines that can be accurately divided into a numerical group corresponding to the value ratio into a size that can be accurately divided according to the number of scanning lines, It is an object of the present invention to provide an image display device, an image processing device, an image display device control program, and an image processing device control program capable of performing accurate non-sequential scanning.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, an image display device according to the present invention includes a pixel matrix in which pixels including optical elements are arranged in a matrix,
A plurality of scanning lines respectively connected to a pixel group arranged along one of a row direction and a column direction of the pixel matrix;
A plurality of data lines respectively connected to a pixel group arranged along the other of the row direction and the column direction of the pixel matrix,
A scanning line driving circuit for sequentially selecting the plurality of scanning lines one by one;
A data line drive circuit that outputs a control signal related to light emission of the optical element to at least one data line of the plurality of data lines;
A control unit that controls the operation of the scanning line driving circuit and the data line driving circuit,
It is generated based on the number of scanning lines in a display area including a predetermined number of the scanning lines and the data lines, and grayscale data having a bit length N corresponding to the number of light emission gradations indicating the light emission gradation of the optical element. The added number obtained by adding 1 to the total number of the scanning lines in the display area is represented by the number of bits 2 n Each optical element corresponding to each scanning line in the display area selected by the scanning line driving circuit, based on the numerical value group divided into numerical values according to the ratio consisting of the values, every time the scanning line is selected, A selection order of the scanning lines is determined so that light emission can be performed for a time corresponding to one numerical value selected in a predetermined order from a numerical value group, and a predetermined image is displayed in the display area by non-sequential scanning in the selection order. An image display device capable of gradation display
When displaying a predetermined image in gradation in the display area,
The image processing apparatus further includes a size changing unit that can enlarge or reduce the size of the predetermined image before the non-sequential scanning based on the number of scanning lines in the display area to a size corresponding to the number of scanning lines.
[0011]
With such a configuration, the first invention is characterized in that, when an image is displayed in a display area including a predetermined number of scanning lines and data lines by a non-sequential scanning method, scanning of the display area is performed by size changing means. Based on the number of lines, the size of the predetermined image before the non-sequential scanning is performed can be enlarged or reduced as necessary according to the number of lines. Therefore, based on the number of scanning lines in the display area and the size of the image to be displayed, the size of the image can be converted to an appropriate size as needed. It is possible to perform processing of displaying an image of an appropriate size such that the number of pixels in the direction matches, and it is possible to suppress image quality deterioration such as display unevenness during image display.
[0012]
Here, the above-mentioned optical element is, for example, a liquid crystal, an electroluminescent element, a plasma display, a light emitting diode, or the like.
According to a second aspect, in the first aspect, a serial number is associated with each of the scanning lines according to the arrangement order thereof,
A predetermined number among the serial numbers associated with the scanning lines is an initial value corresponding to the least significant bit (0th digit) of the bit string constituting the gradation data;
A value obtained by adding the largest numerical value among the numerical values included in the numerical value group to the initial value corresponding to the least significant bit is the most significant bit ((N-1) th digit) of the bit string constituting the gradation data. And the initial value of the scanning line corresponding to
Other bits between the most significant bit and the least significant bit correspond to bits one digit above the number of bits of the other bit in order from the larger number of bits of the other bit. A value obtained by adding the initial value and the numerical value obtained by adding 1 to the bit number of the other bit from the smaller one of the numerical values included in the numerical value group corresponds to the initial value of the other bit. Attached
First, a scanning line having a serial number indicated by the initial value corresponding to the least significant bit is selected, and then the most significant bit and the bit from this bit to the bit immediately before the least significant bit one by one in order. A first process of sequentially selecting scan lines of serial numbers indicated by the initial values corresponding to the shifted bits, respectively;
1 is added to the value associated with each bit of the gradation data, and the value corresponding to each bit of the gradation data after the addition exceeds a value obtained by subtracting 1 from the total number of the scanning lines. A second process of updating the value to the minimum value of the serial number when
And a third unit for selecting a scanning line corresponding to a value associated with each bit of the gradation data after the second process in the same order as the first process. ,
By repeating the second processing and the third processing until all the scanning lines in the display area are selected for each bit of the bit string constituting the gradation data, the scanning lines in the non-sequential scanning are repeated. It is characterized in that the selection order is determined.
[0013]
That is, according to the above-described procedure, each optical element corresponding to each scanning line in the display area of the image selected by the scanning line driving circuit is set to 2 every time the scanning line is selected. n Light emission is enabled for a time corresponding to one numerical value selected in a predetermined order from a numerical value group corresponding to a ratio of values.
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the first or second aspect, a scanning line number detecting means for detecting the number of scanning lines in the display area is provided.
[0014]
That is, the number of scanning lines in the display area can be detected by the number of scanning lines detecting unit. Therefore, for example, when the display area is a variable window, the number of scanning lines can be detected according to the change.
A fourth invention is a pixel matrix in which pixels including optical elements are arranged in a matrix.
A plurality of scanning lines respectively connected to a pixel group arranged along one of a row direction and a column direction of the pixel matrix;
A plurality of data lines respectively connected to a pixel group arranged along the other of the row direction and the column direction of the pixel matrix,
A scanning line driving circuit for sequentially selecting the plurality of scanning lines one by one;
A data line drive circuit that outputs a control signal related to light emission of the optical element to at least one data line of the plurality of data lines;
The added number obtained by adding 1 to the total number of the scanning lines in the display area is represented by the number of bits 2 n Each optical element corresponding to each scanning line in the display area selected by the scanning line driving circuit, based on a numerical value group divided into numerical values according to the ratio consisting of the values, every time the scanning line is selected, A selection order of the scanning lines is determined so that light emission can be performed for a time corresponding to one numerical value selected in a predetermined order from a numerical value group, and a predetermined image is displayed in the display area by non-sequential scanning in the selection order. An image processing apparatus that converts the predetermined image into an image of an appropriate size, which is input to an image display device capable of displaying gradation,
A scanning line number detecting means for detecting the number of scanning lines in the display area; and, if necessary, the size of the predetermined image before the non-sequential scanning processing is set to the number of scanning lines based on the detected number of scanning lines. And a size changing unit that can be enlarged or reduced to an appropriate size.
[0015]
With such a configuration, when an image is displayed in a display area composed of a predetermined number of scanning lines and data lines by a non-sequential scanning method, the number of scanning lines in the display area is detected by the scanning line number detecting means. The size of the predetermined image before performing the non-sequential scanning is enlarged to a size corresponding to the number of scanning lines, if necessary, based on the acquired number of scanning lines by the size changing unit. Or it can be reduced.
[0016]
In a fifth aspect based on the fourth aspect, the image display device is configured to:
A serial number is associated with each of the scanning lines according to the arrangement order thereof,
A predetermined number among the serial numbers associated with the scanning lines is an initial value corresponding to the least significant bit (0th digit) of the bit string constituting the gradation data;
Attached
First, a scanning line having a serial number indicated by the initial value corresponding to the least significant bit is selected, and then the most significant bit and the bit from this bit to the bit immediately before the least significant bit one by one in order. A first process of sequentially selecting scan lines of serial numbers indicated by the initial values corresponding to the shifted bits, respectively;
[0017]
That is, according to the above-described procedure, each optical element corresponding to each scanning line in the display area of the image selected by the scanning line driving circuit is set to 2 every time the scanning line is selected. n Light emission is enabled for a time corresponding to one numerical value selected in a predetermined order from a numerical value group corresponding to a ratio of values.
Further, a sixth invention is a program for controlling the first invention,
A size changing step of enlarging or reducing the size of the predetermined image before the non-sequential scanning process to a size corresponding to the number of scanning lines based on the number of scanning lines in the display area is provided.

In a seventh aspect based on the sixth aspect, the method further comprises the step of detecting the number of scanning lines in the display area.
Here, the present invention is a program for controlling the third invention, and its effects are duplicated, and therefore description thereof is omitted.
[0019]
An eighth invention is a program for controlling the fourth invention,

Here, the present invention is a program for controlling the fourth invention, and the description thereof will be omitted because the effects are duplicated.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. 1 to 7 are views showing an embodiment of an image display device and an image processing device according to the present invention.

[0025]
Hereinafter, the above three methods will be briefly described.
(1) Nearest neighbor method
Generally, the coordinates of the pixels of the image before enlargement or reduction corresponding to a certain pixel of the image after enlargement or reduction take real values instead of integer values. Therefore, a method of selecting the nearest pixel and drawing this density value on the corresponding pixel of the enlarged or reduced image is the nearest neighbor method. This method is very suitable for computers and can be processed at high speed, and is used when any resampling is acceptable. However, in the reduction processing, aliasing frequently occurs, and the image quality deteriorates. On the other hand, the output image has relatively high contrast, and depending on the type of the input image, there is a case where the enlargement process can be performed very straightforwardly.
[0026]
(2) Bi-linear method (bi-linear interpolation)
In the nearest neighbor method, the nearest pixel is selected. In the bilinear method, linear density interpolation is performed from the density values of four surrounding pixels according to the coordinates (real values). This method does not cause aliasing unlike the nearest neighbor method, but has the disadvantage that the luminance change becomes too linear and the image is blurred.
[0027]
(3) Bi-cubic method
In order to perform interpolation with higher precision than the bilinear method, interpolation is performed using the cubic function from the density values of the surrounding 16 pixels. The equation used for interpolation is sin (πx) / πx, which is known to be the most perfect density interpolation equation in theory. The features of this method are that aliasing does not occur unlike the bilinear method, and that the image is not as blurry as the bilinear method. However, it has disadvantages such as a large amount of calculation, a low processing speed, and slight fluctuations in the image.
[0028]
Further, a more specific operation of the
First, image data such as a moving image is transmitted from an external device such as a PC (Personal Computer) to the
[0029]
When the above comparison is performed, “480> 254” is obtained, and the number of vertical pixels of the input image is larger than the number of scanning lines in the display area. Therefore, one of the above-described nearest neighbor method, bilinear method, and bicubic method 1, the input image is reduced.
Here, in the present embodiment, the horizontal size of the input image is determined according to the aspect ratio of the original image after the vertical size in the reduction processing is determined. That is, “vertical: horizontal = 480: 640 = 3: 4” from the size of the input image. Accordingly, since the vertical size is reduced from 480 pixels to 254 pixels, the horizontal size of the input image is reduced from 640 pixels to 339 pixels. Finally, the size of the input image after the reduction processing is “339 (number of horizontal pixels) × 254 (number of vertical pixels)”.
[0030]
On the other hand, contrary to the above case, when the size of the input image is 200 (the number of horizontal pixels) × 150 (the number of vertical pixels), which is smaller than the size of the display area, the

[0032]
Further, the principle of image display by the non-sequential scanning method will be described.
Here, for convenience of explanation, a case where the total number of scanning lines is 14 and the bit length of the gradation data is 4 bits will be described as an example.
First, 15 obtained by adding 1 to the total number 14 of the scanning lines is calculated as 2 which is the number of bits of the bit string constituting the grayscale data having the bit length N. n A numerical group divided according to a ratio consisting of values (n = 0, 1, 2,..., (N−1)) is generated. That is, since the bit length N of the gradation data is 4 bits, 0 : 2 1 : 2 2 : 2 3 The value 15 obtained by adding 1 to the total number of scanning lines at a ratio of = 1: 2: 4: 8 is divided. In this case, it can be divided exactly into 1: 2: 4: 8. Therefore, it is divided into four numerical values of 1, 2, 4, and 8 according to the respective ratios.
[0033]
Next, serial numbers from 0 to 13 are associated with each of the 14 scanning lines in total. Then, the serial number 0 of the first selected scanning line (hereinafter referred to as an initial scanning line) is set as an initial value in the LSB (0th bit) of the grayscale data. Next, for the third bit (MSB) of the gradation data, the largest number 8 among the divided numerical values is added to the serial number 0 of the scanning line selected immediately before, and this serial number 8 is assigned to the initial scanning line. Set as a serial number. Further, for the second bit of the gradation data, the second largest 4 of the divided numerical values is added to the serial number 8 of the scanning line selected immediately before, and this 12 is used as the serial number of the initial scanning line. Set. Furthermore, the third largest 2 of the divided numerical values is added to the serial number 12 selected immediately before to the first bit of the gradation data. In this case, the numerical value after the addition is the serial number. Since it exceeds 13, the remainder (0) obtained by dividing 14 of the addition result by the total number of scanning lines 14 is set as the serial number of the initial scanning line. In the case of 15, which is obtained by adding 3 to 12, 15/14 = 1 (the remainder is 1), so that the serial number of the initial scanning line in this case is 1.
[0034]
Therefore, the serial number 0 is set as the initial value for the LSB, the serial number 8 is set as the initial value for the MSB, and the serial number 12 is set for the second bit in the bit length 4 bits of the gradation data. An initial value is set, and a serial number 0 is set as an initial value for the first bit.
As described above, according to the bit length of the gradation data, as described above, the numerical value obtained by sequentially adding the divided numerical values to the serial numbers of the scanning line selected immediately before from the larger one to the smaller one, The serial number of the initial scanning line corresponding to each bit of the gradation data is determined.
[0035]
Further, the determined initial scanning line is used as the initial scanning line corresponding to the LSB (0th bit), the initial scanning line corresponding to the MSB (3rd bit), and the initial scanning corresponding to the second bit of the gradation data. The scanning lines with serial numbers corresponding to the respective lines are sequentially selected in the order of the initial scanning line corresponding to the first bit, and each pixel of the selected scanning line is driven. After selecting each scanning line, 1 is added to the serial number of the initial scanning line corresponding to each bit. At this time, when the result of adding 1 to the initial value corresponding to each bit exceeds the value obtained by subtracting 1 from the total number of scanning lines (here, 13), the addition result is set to 0. That is, when the thirteenth scanning line is selected and 1 is added to the serial number 13, the addition result is not set to a numerical value (14) exceeding the serial number 13 of the scanning line, but 0, which is the minimum value of the serial number of the scanning line. And Therefore, in the next process, the 0th scanning line is selected. The order of selection of each bit of the gradation data is performed in the order of LSB → MSB → “upper bit between LSB and MSB → lower bit” → LSB → MSB →. That is, the repetition of the 0th bit → the 3rd bit → the 2nd bit → the 1st bit → the 0th bit → the 3rd bit → the 2nd bit →... That is, when the 0th scan line, the 8th scan line, the 12th scan line, and the 0th scan line are selected in correspondence with each bit of the gradation data, the 1st scan line, 9th scan line, In order to select the thirteenth scanning line, the thirteenth scanning line, and the first scanning line, sequentially select the scanning lines of serial numbers obtained by adding 1 to the serial numbers of the previously selected scanning lines corresponding to each bit. Then, each pixel is driven.
[0036]
In the
[0037]
In addition, depending on the number of scanning lines in the display area, the number of additions obtained by adding 1 to the number of scanning lines is equal to the number of bits in the bit string constituting the N-bit gradation data, ie, 2 bits. n In some cases, it is not possible to accurately divide the image according to the ratio of the values (n = 0, 1, 2,..., (N-1)). For example, consider the case where the number of scanning lines in the display area is 240 and the bit length of the gradation data is 6 bits. In this case, the added number 241 obtained by adding 1 to the number of scanning lines is divided at a ratio of 1: 2: 4: 8: 16: 32, but the 241 cannot be accurately divided at this ratio. Therefore, when it is not possible to divide the value into a numerical value with an accurate ratio, such as 4, 7, 15, 30, 62, 123, a numerical value group is generated by setting a value near the value.

In step S202, gradation data having a bit length N according to the set number of gradations is generated, and the process proceeds to step S204. Here, when the number of gradations is determined from the beginning, there is no need to perform this processing if the gradation data is generated in advance. The gradation data is a variable having a bit length corresponding to the number of inputted gradations, for example, a variable having a bit length of 4 bits for 16 gradations, and a variable of 6 bits for 64 gradations. It becomes a variable having a length. In the present embodiment, there are 256 gradations of 8 bits.
[0044]
In step S204, the number of additions obtained by adding 1 to the total number of scanning lines is calculated by dividing the number of bits of the grayscale data having the bit length N by two. n A numerical value group divided into numerical values corresponding to each ratio of the ratio group consisting of values (n = 0, 1, 2,..., (N−1)) is generated, and the process proceeds to step S206.
In step S206, the number of the initial scanning line corresponding to each bit of the gradation data is calculated and set based on the generated numerical value group, and the process proceeds to step S208.
[0045]
In step S208, the
In step S210, the
[0046]
In step S212, it is determined whether or not the result of adding the number corresponding to each bit exceeds the total number of scanning lines. If it is determined that the number exceeds the number (Yes), the process proceeds to step S214. If not (No), the process proceeds to step S220.
When the process proceeds to step S214, the number of the addition result is updated to “0” and the process proceeds to step S216. That is, the serial number is updated to the minimum value (“0” in the present embodiment) of the serial number associated with the scanning line.
[0047]
In step S216, the selection of the scanning line of the number of the addition result corresponding to each bit is performed in the above-described order, and the process proceeds to step S218.
In step S218, 1 is added to the number of the scanning line selected immediately before (the number selected in step S216), and the process proceeds to step S212.
On the other hand, if the result of addition does not exceed the total number of scanning lines and the process proceeds to step S220, the result of addition is set as it is and the process proceeds to step S216.

Here, in the present embodiment, with regard to the horizontal size of the input image, after the vertical size is determined by the reduction processing, the size is determined according to the aspect ratio of the original image. That is, “vertical: horizontal = 480: 640 = 3: 4” from the size of the input image. Accordingly, since the vertical size is reduced from 480 pixels to 127 pixels, the horizontal size of the input image is reduced from 640 pixels to 169 pixels. Finally, the size of the input image after the reduction processing is “169 (the number of horizontal pixels) × 127 (the number of vertical pixels)”.
[0056]
On the other hand, contrary to the above case, if the size of the input image is 120 (the number of horizontal pixels) × 90 (the number of vertical pixels) and smaller than the size of the display area (90> 127), the image conversion unit 21c In, the input image is enlarged according to the size of the display area. In this case, the vertical size of 90 pixels of the input image is enlarged to 127 pixels according to the number of scanning lines 127 (lines) in the display area. On the other hand, based on the aspect ratio “vertical: horizontal = 90: 120 = 3: 4” of the original image, the horizontal size of the input image is enlarged to 120 pixels to 169 pixels. That is, the size of the input image is increased from “120 (number of horizontal pixels) × 90 (number of vertical pixels)” to “169 (number of horizontal pixels) × 127 (number of vertical pixels)” by the enlargement processing.
