本発明は自動車と歩行者が衝突した際に、歩行者の膝下の車両下方への巻き込みを防止する自動車の車体前部構造に関する。

従来、自動車が歩行者に衝突した際に、主に膝部の曲げ角度や剪断変位を抑制して歩行者の受ける膝下損傷の程度を軽減する自動車の車体前部構造が公知となっている(特許文献1参照)。

この発明によれば、バンパアーマチュアの下方に車両前方側へ突出する突出部材を設け、自動車と歩行者の衝突時に該突出部材で歩行者の膝下に車両外方への反力を与えて歩行者の足を払うことによって、歩行者の受ける膝下損傷を軽減している。

しかしながら、従来の発明においては、突出部材の取付部(ブラケット)が自動車のサイドメンバの前端部に直接固定されており、結果、サイドメンバの前端部を補強することになり、自動車が中高速で障害物に衝突した際におけるサイドメンバの潰れを制御することが困難になるという問題点があった。

請求項1記載の発明では、車幅方向に延設され、かつ、左右のサイドメンバの前端部にバンパステイを介して固定されるバンパアーマチュアと、車幅方向に延設され、かつ、前記バンパアーマチュアの下方で車両前方側へ突設される突出部材を備えた自動車の車体前部構造において、前記突出部材の一端部に車両後方側斜め上方へ延設する第1支持部材を設けると共に、該第1支持部材を、バンパアーマチュアとバンパステイに挟持され、かつ、車両下方側へ延設された板状の第1垂下部材に固定し、前記突出部材の他端部に車両後方側斜め上方へ延設する第2支持部材を設けると共に、該第2支持部材を、バンパアーマチュアとバンパステイに挟持され、かつ、車両下方側へ延設された板状の第2垂下部材に固定し、前記突出部材の中央部に車両後方側へ延設する第3支持部材を設けると共に、該第3支持部材を車体側部材に固定したことを特徴とする。
