TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention irradiates light from a light source to a reflective main scale through a first grating on an index scale, and generates interference light generated by an interaction with a second grating on the main scale. The present invention relates to a reflective photoelectric encoder adapted to receive light through the third grating above, and in particular, even when using a light receiving element array in which the third grating and the light receiving element are integrated, it is necessary to mount the light source at an angle. And a reflection type photoelectric encoder.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As shown in FIG. 1, for example, a photoelectric encoder includes two gratings (a first grating 21 on an index scale 20 and a second grating 12 on a main scale 10) as described in Patent Document 1. The so-called three-grating principle is applied, in which the positions of the generated interference fringes are changed by relative movement with each other, and the interference fringes are filtered by the third grating 23 on the index scale 20 to detect the amount of relative movement. There is something.
[0003]
In FIG. 1, 26 is a light source disposed on the index scale 20, and 28 is a light receiving element.
[0004]
In the configuration of FIG. 1, the first grating 21 is arranged at the center of the index scale 20, and a plurality (four in the figure) of third gratings 23 are arranged around the periphery of the first grating 21 so that different phase differences can be obtained. Therefore, the luminous flux incident on each third grating 23 is reflected at different positions of the second grating 12 on the main scale 10, and a difference occurs in the output of each phase due to dirt on the main scale 10 or the like.
[0005]
Therefore, as shown in FIG. 2, the light reflected at the same position on the main scale 10 is received by using a light receiving element array 30 as shown in FIG. 3, in which the third grating 23 and the light receiving element 28 are integrated. Thus, it is possible to suppress variations in the output of each phase.
[0006]
As related to the present invention, Patent Document 2 describes that the direction of light emitted from a light source is bent by a diffraction grating, and Patent Document 3 describes that a two-dimensional photoelectric encoder for a vibration gyro is used. The use of a combination of a scale and a two-dimensional grid is described.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the configuration shown in FIG. 2, since the light source 26 must be installed at an angle inevitably, a dedicated light source holder (not shown) is required every time the incident angle is changed, and the size of the detector is also increased. Had problems.
[0009]
The present invention has been made in order to solve the conventional problems, and has an object to provide a reflective photoelectric encoder that does not require a light source to be tilted and attached even when a light receiving element array is used. I do.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention irradiates light from a light source to a reflection type main scale via a first grating on an index scale, and generates interference light generated by mutual creation with a second grating on the main scale. In the reflective photoelectric encoder configured to receive light via the third grating, the first grating is a two-dimensional grating and a grating having a chirp arrangement in the direction of the third grating. Thus, the above problem has been solved.
[0011]
Further, the third grating is also a grating having a chirp arrangement in the direction of the first grating.
[0012]
Further, the first grating and the third grating are arranged in a direction orthogonal to the length measuring direction, and at least the first grating has a chirp arrangement in the orthogonal direction, and the length of the index scale in the length measuring direction is used. Can be shortened.
[0013]
Further, the first grating and the third grating are provided in a plurality of stages so that the light from the light source and the reflected light can be largely bent.
[0014]
Further, the third grating is downsized as a light receiving element array integrated with the light receiving element.
[0015]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
[0016]
In the first embodiment of the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 4 (plan view) and FIG. 5 (cross-sectional view taken along line VV in FIG. 4), light from the light source 26 is Irradiation is performed on the reflective main scale 10 via the grating 41, and the interference light generated by the interaction with the second grating 12 on the main scale 10 is transmitted to the third grating and the light receiving element on the index scale 20. In the reflection type photoelectric encoder configured to receive light by the integrated light receiving element array 30, the first grating 41 is a two-dimensional grating as shown in detail in FIG. A lattice having a chirp arrangement (referred to as a chirp lattice) in the direction of 30 (the vertical direction perpendicular to the length measurement direction in the figure) is used.
[0017]
The first grating 41 on the index scale 20 is arranged at the same pitch P1 as the second grating 12 of the main scale 10 in the length measurement direction (left-right direction in the figure), but in a direction perpendicular to the direction (FIG. (Up and down directions), a chirped grating whose pitch changes is formed. Therefore, in the length measuring direction, the three-grid principle is established similarly to the conventional encoder, and the movement of the scale can be detected. On the other hand, in the orthogonal direction, a light beam incident from directly above the grating due to diffraction by the chirp grating changes its direction as shown in FIG. 5 and reaches the light receiving element array 30 via the main scale 10. Therefore, the light emitted from the index scale 20 can be set without having to mount the light source 26 at an angle.
[0018]
Here, in the case of a regular pitch grating, light is diffracted in different directions, so that more than half of the light is wasted. Since it is possible to concentrate, the light use efficiency can be increased.
[0019]
In the first embodiment, one chirp grating is used. However, as in the second embodiment shown in FIG. 6, a plurality of chirp gratings (two in FIG. 6) can be arranged. In addition, when the bending angle of the light emitted from the light source 26 is large, the efficiency can be further increased.
[0020]
In each of the above embodiments, the light receiving element array 30 is used. However, as in the third embodiment shown in FIG. It is also applicable to a configuration in which the light receiving element is formed and light is received by a normal light receiving element.
[0021]
In each of the above embodiments, the pitch P1 of the first grating 41 in the length measuring direction is the same as the pitch of the second grating 12 on the main scale 10. Is also applicable.
[0022]
In each of the above embodiments, only the first grating 41 is a chirped grating. However, FIGS. 8 (plan view) and FIG. 9 (cross-sectional view taken along line IX-IX in FIG. 8) are used. As described above, the third grating 43 can also be a grating having a chirp arrangement in a direction (vertical direction in the drawing) orthogonal to the length measurement direction.
[0023]
In this case, since the light can be collected on the light receiving element 28, the light receiving element 28 can be made smaller, and as a result, the response speed of the element is improved. Therefore, the relative movement speed between the detectable scale and the detection head can be increased.
[0024]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, the light emission angle can be set without the need to mount the light source at an angle. Therefore, the size of the detector can be reduced. In addition, since a two-dimensional grating including a chirped grating is used, the light use efficiency can be increased as compared with a case where a two-dimensional grating having an equal pitch is used.
