本発明で使用する粘着剤層としては、天然ゴム、SBR、ブチルゴム等を主成分とするゴム系粘着剤層、アクリル系粘着剤(溶剤型、エマルジョン型)層あるいはホットメルト系粘着剤層などが挙げられるが、中でも環境上、被着体汚染防止等の理由からアクリルエマルジョン系粘着剤層が好ましい。
床材は、通常表面仕上げ層とバッキング層とからなり、表面仕上げ層は、合成樹脂製であってもカーペット製であっても良い。通常の床仕上げ材の表面層として使用されているものであれば特に制限は無い。合成樹脂製シートは表面に透明層や、裏面に発泡層を積層したものでも良い。
カーペット製の表面仕上げ層としては、基布に繊維性のパイルを植設したカーペット原反そのままで、あるいはその裏面に合成樹脂層の目止めや裏打ち層を設けたものが挙げられる。
バッキング層は、通常天然または合成ゴム層あるいは合成樹脂層からなる。
床材の大きさは、寸法が30〜100cm角、好ましくは40〜60cm角、厚みが2〜12mm、好ましくは4〜8mmのものが一般的である。ただし、これらの数値は本発明を何ら限定するものではない。
