Description

【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for vulcanizing and bonding an elastomer to a stainless material in a seal member such as a bearing seal and an oil seal, and a seal member such as a bearing seal and an oil seal manufactured by the method.
[0002]
[Prior art]
There is a seal member obtained by vulcanizing and bonding an elastomer to a stainless steel core (see Patent Document 1).
However, in this conventional seal member, since the surface of the stainless material is inert due to the formation of the passivation film and is smooth, the stainless material and the elastomer are easily peeled off.
The passivation film is a film formed by a passivation phenomenon. If steel is left as it is in the atmosphere, it rusts due to oxidation. This is a chemical reaction that cannot be avoided as long as oxygen is present in the atmosphere. However, when chromium is contained in iron by about 11% or more, this reaction becomes slight, and rust can hardly be visually confirmed. This phenomenon is called passivation, and is due to the formation of a very thin oxide film (10 to 30 °) formed by a chemical bond between oxygen and chromium.
The passivation film is very dense and strong, and exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and the like because diffusion of oxygen into the inside is prevented.

[Patent Document 1]
JP 2001-56236 A (FIG. 1)
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
If the surface is inert and the elastomer is vulcanized and bonded with a smooth stainless steel material, repeated contact with a liquid containing salt, etc., causes the elastomer to peel off from the stainless steel together with the adhesive layer, and the sealing member Can no longer be used.
According to experiments, when a sealing member having the above-mentioned specifications, that is, a vulcanized and bonded stainless steel having an inert surface and a smooth surface, is immersed in a liquid containing a 5% salt content of boiling, about 100 to 100% is obtained. At 130 hours, the elastomer was separated from the stainless steel together with the adhesive layer. In other words, according to the above specifications, the adhesion durability is poor in an environment in which it comes into contact with a liquid containing salt or the like.
[0005]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to provide a method of bonding a stainless steel material and an elastomer with high bonding durability and a sealing member formed by using the method.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In the seal member, the surface of the stainless steel material is blasted or etched to make a rough surface, and an elastomer is vulcanized and bonded to the rough surface to form a seal member.
[0007]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described.
According to the present invention, the surface of the stainless steel material 1 is blasted or etched to make the surface of the stainless steel material 1 a rough surface 2 covered with irregularities.
[0008]
The blast treatment is a method of making the surface of the stainless steel material 1 rough by a known physical treatment such as spraying a fine sand.
[0009]
The etching treatment is a method of making the surface of the stainless steel material 1 rough by a known chemical treatment such as immersion in an acid or the like.
[0010]
The elastomer 4 is vulcanized and adhered to the surface of the stainless steel material 1 having the rough surface formed by the above processing, thereby forming a seal member. Reference numeral 3 in the figure denotes an adhesive layer.
[0011]
According to the experiment, the elastomer 3 was peeled off even if the sealing member formed by vulcanizing and bonding the elastomer 3 to the stainless steel material 1 treated by the above method was immersed in a boiling liquid containing 5% salt for 200 hours. It was confirmed that the durability did not decrease at all.
[0012]
【The invention's effect】
The method according to the present invention roughens the surface of the stainless steel material and enhances the adhesiveness with the elastomer, and the sealing member manufactured by the method hardly causes the peeling of the adhesive between the stainless steel material and the elastomer, and has excellent adhesion durability. .
[Brief description of the drawings]
FIG. 1 is an explanatory diagram of a method for bonding a stainless steel material and an elastomer according to the present invention.
FIG. 2 is an explanatory view of a conventional method of bonding a stainless steel material and an elastomer.
