【従来の技術】
従来、ステップとその側部に配置される欄干のスカートガード、内デッキカバー部分に安全装置を設ける例としては、例えば特公昭５５−１８２３５号公報に開示されているように乗降床付近において、欄干基部からステップ側に向けて突出するブラシ等の安全片を設ける構成が知られている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
最近、公共交通手段の発展とともに従来にも増して乗客コンベアの安全性の強化策と、煙草の火玉、定期券および搭乗券等の異物の機械内部への侵入防止策が求められている。この種要望は、公共性の強い用途ほど重要視され、安全性が高く、異物の侵入しない真に乗客保護を志向した安全装置が必要となっているが、上記公知例は乗降床付近のみに限定した安全装置であり、十分なる乗客保護を成し得なかった。

本発明の目的は、乗客が乗るステップとスカートガード間における安全性の向上、異物侵入の確実な防止を図る乗客コンベアの安全装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために本発明の安全装置は、無端状に連結されて移動するステップと、ステップの両側部に配置される欄干と、欄干を構成し、ステップとは一定のすき間を隔てて直立するスカートガードおよび欄干パネルと、スカートガードと欄干パネルの間を塞ぐために設けられ、欄干パネル側よりスカートガード側が低くなる傾斜角を有する内デッキカバーを備えた乗客コンベアにおいて、前記内デッキカバーと前記ステップとの間に、前記スカートガード側からステップ側に向けて突出する第１の刷毛体と、この第１の刷毛体よりもさらにステップ側に向けて突出する第２の刷毛体と、これら第１および第２の刷毛体を植立し、前記スカートガードに固設される基台とからなる安全装置を設けたのである。

上記構成の安全装置の存在によって、ステップとスカートガードとの間のすき間部分に目視的、物理的に近寄り難くして安全性を向上させる一方、第１および第２の２段式の刷毛体により火玉や搭乗券などの異物の侵入をより確実に防止するように作用する多目的の効果を発揮することができる。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の乗客コンベアの形態を図１および図２に示すエスカレーターに基づいて説明する。

図１は、エスカレーター１の要部を示した斜視図、図２は図１のＡ−Ａ線に沿う断面図である。図において、エスカレーター１は、無端状に連結されて移動するステップ２と、ステップ２に至る乗降床３、ステップ２の両側に配置される欄干４と、欄干４を構成するもので、ステップ２とは一般に５ｍｍ程度のすき間Ｇを隔てて直立するスカートガード５、欄干パネル６と、スカートガード５と欄干パネル６の間を塞ぐために設けられ、欄干パネル６側よりスカートガード５側が低くなる傾斜角θを有する内デッキカバー７が配置されている。ここで述べた構成は、公知のものであり、上記すき間Ｇに靴や衣服が引き込まれる人身事故や火玉、定期券および搭乗券などの異物が侵入し、火災、紛失、機械故障などの事故を招くことが問題視されている。

このため、上記公知例では乗降床３付近のみに限定して欄干基部からステップ側に向けて突出するブラシ等の安全片を突出させた訳であるが、これでは乗降床以外の長い範囲（ステップ走行路）における事故防止効果がないために、本発明では図示の構成の改善施策を付加してある。

本発明の特徴は、安全装置８を一方の乗降床３から他方の乗降床（図示省略）にかけてステップ２の走行路全域のスカートガード５に配置し、全ての部分で後述する安全効果と異物侵入防止効果を発揮する構成とする一方、この安全装置８を構成する二種の刷毛体で構成したことである。

安全装置８は、ステップ２とその上側の内デッキカバー７との間にビス等で固設される硬質材の基台８Ａと、この基台８Ａに植立される前記スカートガード５からステップ２側に向けて突出する長さＬ１の第１の刷毛体８Ｂと、この第１の刷毛体８Ｂよりもさらにステップ２側に向けて突出する長さ差Ｌ２の第２の刷毛体８Ｃで構成したものである。この第１の刷毛体８Ｂおよび第２の刷毛体８Ｃの形状構成による効果は、発明者の実験により実証したもので、例えば、図２の矢印Ｙのように定期券を落下させた場合、この定期券は、第１の刷毛体８Ｂの上に落ちて載ったままになるか、またはバウンドして落下し、次に第２の刷毛体８Ｃに接してステップ２の中央側の反すき間Ｇ側に矢印Ｚのよう着地することを確認しており、侵入防止の確実性が高いとの確証を得ている。

以上のように、２段式の刷毛体８Ｂおよび８Ｃを有する安全装置８によりすき間Ｇ部分を目視的、物理的に被い、この部分への人体の接近防止による安全性の向上、異物の侵入を確実防止を図るものである。

なお、安全装置８の刷毛体８Ｂおよび８Ｃは、難燃性のある材質として火玉による燃焼防止効果を持たせるのが望ましい。また、上記ではエスカレーター用のステップ２について説明したが、電動道路の場合も同様の構成とすることにより類似的効果を奏するものである。

以上説明したように本発明によれば、乗客が乗るステップとスカートガード間における安全性の向上、異物の侵入防止に優れた乗客コンベアの安全装置を提供できる。
