TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a binder for ceramic extrusion molding and a ceramic extrusion molding composition.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, in a ceramic extrusion molding composition, alkylcellulose such as methylcellulose, hydroxyalkylcellulose such as hydroxyethylcellulose, hydroxyalkylalkylcellulose such as hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and hydroxyethylethylcellulose have been exclusively used as a molding binder to be used. .
[0003]
The reason is excellent plasticity, water retention and thermal gelling properties.By using these cellulose ethers, water does not separate at the time of extrusion molding, and the shape is formed before transport to the drying process after molding. Because the cellulose derivative is thermally gelled by heating in the drying step and imparts high strength to the molded product without collapse, the viscoelasticity is reduced by heating like a general binder and the molded product is dried. This is because the shape does not collapse.
[0004]
However, as a drawback of these cellulose ethers, when the addition amount necessary to develop the strength of the hot gel required in the drying step, the viscosity is strong, the frictional force with the die part during extrusion molding becomes strong, Due to the resistance, the extrusion pressure was increased, and there was a drawback that a ceramic extruded product could not be quickly extruded from an extrusion die.
[0005]
In order to overcome these drawbacks, attempts have been made to adjust the excessive viscosity by changing the degree of polymerization and the degree of substitution of the cellulose ether in various ways, and various organic additives have been studied. did not become.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
An object of the present invention is to provide a binder for ceramic extrusion molding and a ceramic extrusion molding composition which meet the above-mentioned demands, have a high molding speed and do not have dry cracks, without impairing extrudability.
[0008]
Means for Solving the Problems and Embodiments of the Invention
The present inventors have conducted intensive studies to solve the above-mentioned problems of the prior art, and as a result, as a mortar thickener disclosed in JP-A-2001-348256, polyalkylene glycol, comb-shaped hydrophobic diol and When a mortar thickener produced from isocyanate is used alone for ceramic extrusion molding, it is difficult to obtain an extruded product without causing dry cracking, but a water-soluble cellulose ether is added to this in a specific ratio. The present inventors have found that the use of such a combination can significantly improve the molding speed of a ceramic extruded product without impairing the extrudability and drying characteristics, and have accomplished the present invention.
[0009]
Therefore, the present invention has a repeating unit represented by the following general formulas (1) and (2), where the unit of the formula (1) is U-1 and the unit of the formula (2) is U-2, U-1 / U-2 is 0.5 / 0.5 to 0.99 / 0.01 (molar ratio), and the viscosity at 20 ° C. of the 2% by weight aqueous solution is in the range of 10 to 300,000 mPa · s. A binder for ceramic extrusion molding, comprising a polyalkylene polyol derivative and a water-soluble cellulose ether, and a ceramic extrusion molding composition containing the binder.

[0011]
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail.
The first essential component of the binder for a ceramic extrusion molding composition of the present invention is a polyalkylene polyol derivative having a repeating unit represented by the following general formulas (1) and (2).
Embedded image
[Wherein A is derived from a water-soluble polyalkylene polyol represented by HO-A-OH having a hydroxyl group at least at both terminals and having a number average molecular weight of 400 to 100,000, particularly 1,000 to 20,000. A divalent polyoxyalkylene residue such as polyoxyethylene, polyoxypropylene, and polyoxyethylene / polyoxypropylene. B represents a divalent organic residue derived from polyisocyanate having 3 to 18 carbon atoms represented by OCN-B-NCO. In this case, B is an alkylene group, an arylene group, a group in which an alkylene group and an arylene group are bonded, and the like. D is a divalent organic group derived from a dihydroxy compound selected from the following general formulas (3) to (5).
Embedded image
(Wherein R 1 and R 4 are unsubstituted or halogen-substituted monovalent hydrocarbon groups such as alkyl groups and aryl groups having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and R 2 , R 3 , R 5 and R 6 are the same or different. An unsubstituted or halogen-substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group such as an alkyl group or an aryl group having 4 to 21 carbon atoms, Y and Y ′ each being a hydrogen atom which may be the same or different, a methyl group or a CHCl 2 group , Z and Z ′ are an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or a CH 2 group, n is an integer of 0 to 15 when Z is an oxygen atom, 0 when Z is a sulfur atom or a CH 2 group, and n ′ is Z When 'is an oxygen atom, it is an integer of 0 to 15; when Z' is a sulfur atom or a CH 2 group, it is 0, and n and n 'may be the same or different from each other. '' Represents an alkylene group having 2 to 10 carbon atoms which may be the same or different from each other, and R 7 represents an alkyl group having 2 to 10 carbon atoms. A hydrocarbon group, R 10 and R 11 may be the same or different and each may be a monovalent hydrocarbon group such as an alkyl group having 4 to 21 carbon atoms, an aryl group, and R 12 is an alkylene group having 2 to 7 carbon atoms. .)]
[0012]
In this case, the dihydroxy compounds represented by the formulas (3) and (4) are preferably dihydroxy compounds represented by the following formulas (6) and (7).
Embedded image
(Wherein, R 13 is a linear or branched alkyl group having 4 to 18 carbon atoms, and R 14 and R 15 are linear or branched alkyl groups having 4 to 18 carbon atoms which may be the same or different from each other. , R 16 is an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, R 17 and R 18 are the same monovalent hydrocarbon groups such as an alkyl group having 4 to 21 carbon atoms, and R 19 is a 1,2-ethylene group, 1,3-propylene group or 1,4-butylene group.)
[0013]
In this case, when the unit of the formula (1) is U-1 and the unit of the formula (2) is U-2, U-1 / U-2 is 0.5 / 0.5 to 0.99 / 0. 01, preferably 0.6 / 0.4 to 0.8 / 0.2 (molar ratio), and the viscosity of the 2% by weight aqueous solution at 20 ° C. is 10 to 300,000 mPa · s, particularly 4,000 to It is in the range of 200,000 mPa · s.
[0014]
As the polyalkylene polyol derivative, specifically, a mortar thickener described in JP-A-2001-348256 is used.
[0015]
On the other hand, the second essential component of the binder of the present invention is a water-soluble cellulose ether. The water-soluble cellulose ether is preferably an alkyl cellulose, a hydroxyalkyl cellulose, or a hydroxyalkylalkyl cellulose, and specifically, methyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl ethyl cellulose and the like are used. The viscosity of the water-soluble cellulose ether is 2% by weight, about 100 to 300,000 mPa · s in 20 ° C. aqueous solution viscosity, and preferably 2% by weight, and 4,000 mPa · s or more in 20 ° C. aqueous solution viscosity. Those are preferred.
[0016]
The mixing ratio of the water-soluble cellulose ether and the polyalkylene polyol derivative is usually used in the range of 99/1 to 1/99. Preferably, the water-soluble cellulose ether and the polyalkylene polyol derivative are 95/5 to 20/80 (weight). Ratio), more preferably 80/20 to 20/80 (weight ratio).
[0017]
When only the water-soluble cellulose ether is used, the viscosity of the kneaded product by the water-soluble cellulose ether is too strong, and the surface properties of the ceramic extruded product are impaired. When only the polyalkylene polyol derivative is used, the kneading force of the kneaded product is remarkable. As a result, cracks are generated in the extruded product, and troubles are often observed in the drying step.
[0018]
When the water-soluble cellulose ether and the polyalkylene polyol derivative are used together and added to the extrusion molding composition, the total addition amount of both components is usually used in the range of 1 to 20 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the ceramic material. However, for the purpose of minimizing the amount of binder removed during firing, the range is preferably 1 to 15 parts by weight. Any of these water-soluble cellulose ethers may be used as long as they have water retention and plasticity required for extrusion molding, and in particular, can provide a thermal gelation strength that does not cause cracking during drying. In addition, the dry crack is more remarkably observed as the shape becomes more complicated. If the amount is too small, required water retention may not be obtained, plasticity may be insufficient and extrusion molding may be difficult, or dry cracking may occur. On the other hand, if the amount is too large, the cost may be increased, or the extrusion pressure may be unnecessarily increased due to an increase in the adhesive strength.
[0019]

In the present invention, plasticizers can be added as needed. Specifically, glycerin, glycerin derivatives, sorbitan fatty acid esters, copolymers of polypropylin with polyethylene or polybutadiene, and derivatives thereof can be used. Further, in order to reduce the weight of the ceramic itself or make the ceramic itself porous, an organic pore-forming agent or the like can be added. The compounding amount is preferably 0.1 to 20 parts by weight, particularly preferably 1 to 10 parts by weight.
[0021]
Conventionally, water-soluble cellulose ethers used in combination with water-soluble cellulose ethers, such as synthetic water-soluble polymers such as poval, polyethylene glycol and polyacrylamide, natural water-soluble polymers such as guar gum, and microbial fermentation polysaccharides such as welan gum are also used as water-soluble cellulose ethers. If it is contained, it can be used without any problem.
[0022]
As a general extrusion method, first, a ceramic base material and a binder are dry-mixed, and further, water, an auxiliary agent, and the like are added, and wet mixing is performed. The mixture thus prepared is kneaded with a kneader to obtain a ceramic kneaded product. Thereafter, the ceramic kneaded material is extruded into a desired shape by a vacuum extruder to obtain a molded body, and the obtained molded body is uniformly dried (induction heating drying by a microwave oven) and non-uniform drying (ventilation drying). And the presence or absence of cracks can be confirmed.
In uniform drying, the extruded product is cut to a length of about 20 to 30 mm, and the operation of turning the extruded product upside down every six minutes after processing at 100 W for 1 minute in a microwave oven is performed to check for cracks. Can be.
On the other hand, for uneven drying, cut the extruded product into a length of about 20 to 30 mm, dry the extruded product in a dryer at 80 ° C. for 1 hour with hot air from one direction, and then check for cracks. Can be.
