Abstract

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gravestone capable of preventing the incursion of rain water into a charnel house from a hole for laying ashes of the dead opened in a lid thereof. <P>SOLUTION: An oval hole 7 is formed in the lid 3 of the charnel house. The hole has at least a size through which a cinerary urn can pass. An upper lid 9 is provided for closing the hole 7. A rising edge 11 combined with a lid body is surrounded along the circumferential edge of the hole so as to prevent the incursion of rain water from the hole 7. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the scapula 3 is a simple stone plate, in which an oval hole 7 is formed. The hole should be at least as large as the urn.
