これらアミノ糖において、グルコサミンは、粘りのあるムコ多糖類の成分として、軟骨や結合組織にあって、軟骨細胞を形作る最も重要な栄養素として知られており、関節障害に対して効果的なサプリメント(栄養補助食品)として市販もされている。
また、コンドロイチン硫酸は、ムコ多糖類であり、関節組織の円滑化を図る物質として知られている。
また、ヒアルロン酸は、ムコ多糖類であり、変形性膝関節症などの治療薬(注射薬)として認可されている。

本発明者は、酢が有している食欲増進、殺菌・静菌作用を生かして、さらにグルコサミン、コンドロイチン硫酸、およびヒアルロン酸自身が有している働きをより効果的に発揮させるにはどうすればよいかを鋭意研究した結果、特殊な製法で製造され現在では健康飲料として用いられている黒酢と、グルコサミンと、コンドロイチン硫酸と、ヒアルロン酸とを共存させることにより、抗関節障害に対する効果が飛躍的に高まることを見つけ出し、本発明を完成するに至った。
