Pa={K1・ekpa+(1−K1)}・Pas …(9)
【0025】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an intake air amount estimation device for an internal combustion engine.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In order to perform the air-fuel ratio control, it is necessary to know the amount of intake air supplied into the cylinder. Conventionally, the amount of intake air is detected by an air flow meter disposed upstream of the throttle valve, or calculated based on the intake pipe pressure detected by a pressure sensor disposed downstream of the throttle valve. Was. However, since the air flow meter and the pressure sensor have a response delay, it is not possible to accurately detect or calculate the intake air amount during a transition of the engine.
[0003]
It is proposed to calculate the intake pipe pressure Pm based on the throttle valve opening and to estimate the intake air quantity mc based on the calculated intake pipe pressure Pm in order to grasp the accurate intake air quantity even during engine transition. Have been. In such estimation of the intake air amount mc, an unrealistic intake pipe pressure Pm higher than the atmospheric pressure Pa may be calculated. In such a case, the calculated intake pipe pressure Pm is replaced with the atmospheric pressure Pa, and the intake air amount mc is estimated.
[0004]
In this way, the intake pipe pressure Pm is subjected to the guard processing by the atmospheric pressure Pa. However, since the atmospheric pressure Pa varies depending on the altitude, the guard processing is always performed at the standard atmospheric pressure (101.3 kPa). Absent. For this reason, it is conceivable to detect the current atmospheric pressure used for the guard process by a pressure sensor. However, the reliability of the output of the pressure sensor is not so high due to a response delay or the like. Increase costs.
[0005]
Thus, without using a pressure sensor, it is conceivable that the current atmospheric pressure used for the guard process is obtained by correcting a reference atmospheric pressure (for example, a standard atmospheric pressure) by a correction coefficient. This correction coefficient is, for example, assuming that the intake air amount estimated based on the output of the air flow meter is a true value, and that the intake air amount estimated based on the intake pipe pressure calculated based on the throttle valve opening is the output of the air flow meter. Is decreased when it exceeds the intake air amount estimated based on the above, and is increased when it falls below.
[0006]
In this way, the correction coefficient is learned and updated, but when the throttle valve opening is equal to or less than the predetermined value, the intake air amount decreases and is greatly affected by the aging of the throttle valve and the deposit attached to the intake system, At this time, if the above-described learning of the correction coefficient is performed, there is a high possibility of erroneous learning. Accordingly, it has been proposed to prohibit learning of the correction coefficient when the throttle valve opening is equal to or less than a predetermined value (for example, see Patent Document 1).

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In general, when the vehicle goes from lowland to highland, it tends to be mainly uphill, and the throttle valve opening tends to be increased to achieve the intended vehicle speed, but when the vehicle goes from highland to lowland, There is little opportunity to increase the throttle valve opening because the vehicle mainly runs downhill and causes an excessive speed increase. As a result, in the above-described related art, the learning of the correction coefficient for the atmospheric pressure in the lowland may not be sufficiently performed immediately after the vehicle travels downhill from the highland to the lowland.
[0009]
If the opening degree of the throttle valve is increased in subsequent traveling on lowland, good learning of the correction coefficient is performed, and no particular problem occurs. However, when the engine is stopped immediately after traveling downhill, an incorrect correction coefficient is stored, and at the next engine start, the current atmospheric pressure calculated using this correction coefficient is different from the actual atmospheric pressure. The difference is that the engine start fails, or even after the engine start is completed, an engine stall occurs immediately after that, or the air-fuel ratio feedback coefficient is corrected to an abnormal value.
[0010]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide an intake air amount estimating apparatus for an internal combustion engine which calculates an intake pipe pressure on the downstream side of a throttle valve and estimates the intake air amount. If used, this correction factor) is to remedy problems at engine start caused by inaccurate learning.

[0015]
The intake air amount estimating apparatus estimates an intake air amount by modeling an engine intake system in order to be able to grasp an accurate intake air amount even during an engine transition.

First, by modeling the

Of course, when an idle speed control valve (ISC valve) is provided in the engine intake system, A (I) , The opening area of the ISC valve is added. The flow coefficient and the opening area of the throttle valve are respectively the throttle
(Equation 2)
[0018]
Next, the intake valve is modeled. Intake air amount mc supplied into cylinder (I) (G / sec) is the intake pipe pressure Pm (I) Since it changes almost linearly based on the following equation (3), it can be expressed by the following equation (3).
[Equation 3]
[0019]
Where Tm (I) Is the intake air temperature (K) on the downstream side of the throttle valve, and a and b are constants obtained from empirical rules. However, b is a value corresponding to the residual burned gas amount in the cylinder, and when there is a valve overlap, the burned gas flows back to the intake pipe, so that the value of b cannot be ignored. Accordingly, it is preferable to map the values of a and b based on the presence / absence of valve overlap and the engine speed NE so that the accurate intake air amount mc is calculated. Further, when there is a valve overlap, when the intake pipe pressure Pm is equal to or higher than a predetermined pressure, the backflow of the burned gas is significantly reduced as the intake pipe pressure is higher. , A is increased and the value of b is decreased.
[0020]
By the way, when the engine is in a steady state, the throttle valve passing air amount mtTA at this time matches the intake air amount. Therefore, in equation (1), the throttle pipe is set to the intake pipe pressure PmTA in the engine steady state. The valve passing air amount mtTA is equal to the intake air amount (a · PmTA−b), so that the equation (1) can be rewritten as the following equation (4).
(Equation 4)
[0021]
Here, the intake pipe pressure PmTA at steady state of the engine is the present throttle valve opening TA at the time of steady state. (I) , Engine speed NE (I) And the magnitude VT of the valve overlap (I) Can be mapped in advance based on
[0022]
Next, the intake pipe is modeled. Using the law of conservation of energy, the law of conservation of energy, and the equation of state of the intake air present in the intake pipe, the time rate of change in the ratio between the intake pipe pressure Pm and the intake air temperature Tm downstream of the throttle valve is expressed by the following equation (5). The rate of change of the intake pipe pressure Pm with time is represented by the following equation (6). Here, V is the volume of the intake pipe (m 3 ), Specifically, the total volume of the

Equations (5) and (6) are discretized to obtain the following equations (7) and (8), respectively. (I) Is obtained by the equation (7), the intake air temperature Tm in the intake pipe this time is obtained. (I) Can be obtained. In the equations (7) and (8), the discrete time Δt is equal to the current intake air amount mc. (I) Is calculated, for example, 8 ms.

Here, ekpa is a correction coefficient for correcting a reference atmospheric pressure Pas (for example, a standard atmospheric pressure of 101.3 kPa) to a current atmospheric pressure corresponding to the altitude, which will be described in detail later. The corrected atmospheric pressure (ekpa · Pas) is calculated by directly multiplying the atmospheric pressure Pas. The current correction coefficient ekpa is a value learned and updated by the engine operation before the current engine start.

The aforementioned correction coefficient ekpa and guard value Pg are learned and updated, and FIG. 8 is a second flowchart for that. In the second flowchart, the throttle valve passage air amount mt ′ and the intake pipe pressure Pm ′ calculated based on the output of the air flow meter 7 (each with a dash, and Distinguishing) is used. [0040]
The learning and updating of the correction coefficient ekpa are performed when the determination in
[0041]
By the way, when the vehicle goes from a lowland to a highland, there are many chances that the throttle valve opening becomes larger than the set opening TA1 due to uphill traveling, and good learning and updating of the correction coefficient ekpa are performed. However, when going from a high altitude to a low altitude, there is little opportunity to make the throttle valve opening larger than the set opening TA1 due to downhill traveling, and the correction coefficient ekpa may not be sufficiently learned. Thus, particularly when the vehicle is stopped immediately after traveling downhill from a highland to a lowland, it is highly possible that the correction coefficient ekpa is stored as a value adapted to the atmospheric pressure of the highland.
[0042]
Generally, when the engine is started, the intake pipe pressure Pm is first determined based on the throttle valve opening. (I) Is calculated, the atmospheric pressure Pa and the previous intake pipe pressure Pm (I-1) Is used as the corrected atmospheric pressure Pa multiplied by the correction coefficient ekpa stored in the reference atmospheric pressure Pas. However, in this case, in this case, the calculated intake pipe pressure Pm (I) Becomes abnormally lower than the actual value, and the intake air amount mc calculated based on the abnormally low (I) Is abnormally smaller than the actual one, and this intake air amount mc (I) With the fuel injection amount calculated to realize the desired air-fuel ratio based on the actual air-fuel ratio, the actual air-fuel ratio becomes very lean and the estimation of the intake air amount is started at the same time as the completion of the engine start. Engine stall occurs. In addition, when estimating the intake air amount from cranking, the engine cannot be started.
[0043]
In the present embodiment, in order to solve such a problem, the first intake air amount mc (I) Is not calculated by simply multiplying the stored correction coefficient ekpa by the reference atmospheric pressure Pas, but is calculated based on the above-described equation (9). That is, the current atmospheric pressure Pa is a value between the corrected atmospheric pressure obtained by multiplying the reference atmospheric pressure by the correction coefficient ekpa using the adaptation constant K1 (0 <K1 <1) and the reference atmospheric pressure Pas. You. Since the initial value Pa of the atmospheric pressure is calculated in this way, even if the correction coefficient ekpa is stored abnormally smaller than the current atmospheric pressure, the intake air amount mc (I) Is not estimated to be abnormally small, and engine stall can be prevented. If the stored correction coefficient ekpa is accurate for the current atmospheric pressure, the estimated intake air amount mc (I) Is estimated more than the actual value, but the initial value Pa of the atmospheric pressure does not exceed the reference atmospheric pressure, which is not a problem. The initial value Pa of the atmospheric pressure is used as the atmospheric pressure until the throttle valve opening TA becomes larger than the set opening TA1 and the correction coefficient ekpa is updated (step 205) in the second flowchart.
[0044]
Next, the guard value Pg used in the guard process in
[0045]
However, as described above, the correction coefficient ekpa may be inaccurate immediately after the start of the engine. At this time, when the guard processing is performed with the guard value based on the corrected atmospheric pressure, the correction coefficient ekpa is calculated based on the throttle valve opening. Intake pipe pressure Pm (I) Despite being relatively accurate, the guarding process allows the intake pipe pressure Pm (I) Is lowered. Thereby, the intake air amount mc (I) Is estimated to be abnormally lower than the actual case, the combustion air-fuel ratio becomes abnormally lean, causing misfire, or when the air-fuel ratio sensor is arranged in the engine exhaust system and the feedback control of the fuel injection amount is performed In this case, the feedback correction coefficient becomes abnormally large in order to increase the fuel injection amount.
[0046]
In order to solve this problem, in the present embodiment, the guard value Pg is updated by the processing after
[0047]
Immediately after the start of the engine, in order to quickly warm up the catalyst device provided in the engine exhaust system, the fuel injection amount is increased, the throttle valve opening is relatively increased, and the intake air amount is also increased. Thereby, the initial intake pipe pressure Pm ′ calculated based on the output of the air flow meter (I) Is relatively close to the current atmospheric pressure. However, Pm ' (I-1) Is the initial value Pa of the atmospheric pressure calculated in
[0048]
When the correction coefficient ekpa is relatively large, the value obtained by multiplying the correction atmospheric pressure by the coefficient K2 is larger than the guard value Pg that is smaller than the atmospheric pressure Pa calculated in
[0049]
However, as described above, when the correction coefficient ekpa is abnormally small with respect to the current atmospheric pressure, the value based on the corrected atmospheric pressure becomes considerably small. Will cause it. In such a case, the determination in
[0050]
However, the use of the intake pipe pressure based on the output of the air flow meter as the guard value is only a provisional measure, and the operation in which the throttle valve opening is increased is frequently performed, and the correction coefficient ekpa of the atmospheric pressure is appropriate. If the value is learned and corrected, the current accurate atmospheric pressure is calculated. At this time, it is preferable to use a guard value based on the corrected atmospheric pressure. Accordingly, in
[0051]
Also, the intake pipe pressure Pm ′ calculated based on the output of the air flow meter may be such that the vehicle goes to a high altitude immediately after the engine is started, and the current atmospheric pressure may be lower than the intake pipe pressure calculated initially. Accordingly, it is not preferable to use the intake pipe pressure Pm ′ calculated for the first time until the atmospheric pressure correction coefficient ekpa becomes an appropriate value. In
[0052]
For example, in preparation for a case where the stored correction coefficient ekpa is inappropriate, the guard process is not performed immediately after the engine is started, or the atmospheric pressure Pa calculated in
[0053]
By the way, in the second flowchart, in the learning update of the correction coefficient ekpa, the throttle valve passing air amount mt based on the throttle valve opening and the throttle valve passing air amount mt ′ based on the output of the air flow meter are compared. . However, this does not limit the present invention. For example, the specific value to be compared is not the throttle valve passing air amount but the intake pipe pressure calculated based on the throttle valve opening and the output of the air flow meter. Alternatively, the intake air amount may be used.
[0054]
By the way, in order to accurately control the combustion air-fuel ratio, it is necessary to determine the fuel injection amount by estimating an accurate intake air amount into the cylinder before starting the fuel injection. However, in order to accurately estimate the intake air amount, it is strictly necessary to calculate the intake air flow rate when the intake valve is closed. That is, when determining the fuel injection amount, the current intake air amount mc (I) Not the intake air amount mc when the intake valve is closed (I + n) Must be calculated. This applies not only to an internal combustion engine that injects fuel into the
[0055]
To achieve this, the current throttle valve opening TA (I) Not only that, the throttle valve opening TA for each time Δt until the intake valve closes (I + 1) , TA (I + 2) , ... TA (I + n) , It is necessary to change μ · A in equation (1) or PmTA in equation (4) to calculate the throttle valve passing air amount mt at each time.
[0056]
The throttle valve opening TA at each time is based on the amount of depression of the accelerator pedal with respect to the current time, and assuming that this amount of depression changes continues until the intake valve closes, the amount of depression of the accelerator pedal at each time is estimated, It is conceivable that each estimated stepping amount is determined in consideration of a response delay of the throttle valve actuator. This method can also be applied when the throttle valve is mechanically connected to the accelerator pedal.
[0057]
However, the estimated throttle valve opening TA when the intake valve is closed is (I + n) Is a prediction only and there is no guarantee that it matches the actual situation. Throttle valve opening TA when intake valve is closed (I + n) May be controlled to delay the throttle valve in order to match with the actual condition. When the depression amount of the accelerator pedal changes, the throttle valve opening changes with a delay due to a response delay of the actuator. This delay control intentionally increases the response delay of the throttle valve.
[0058]
For example, during an engine transition, an actual response delay (dead time) such that the throttle valve opening corresponding to the current depression amount of the accelerator pedal when determining the fuel injection amount is realized when the intake valve is closed. When the throttle valve actuator is controlled in consideration of the above, the throttle valve opening TA every time from the present to the time when the intake valve is closed (I) , TA (I + 1) , ... TA (I + n) Can be accurately grasped. More specifically, when the depression amount of the accelerator pedal changes, an operation signal is not immediately sent to the actuator, but the dead time is subtracted from the time from when the fuel injection amount is determined to when the intake valve is closed. An operation signal to the actuator is issued when the time has elapsed. Of course, the delay control of the throttle valve may be performed such that the throttle valve opening corresponding to the current depression amount of the accelerator pedal is realized after the intake valve is closed.
[0059]
The output of the
[0060]
Thus, using the first flowchart, the current intake air amount mc (I) And the intake air amount mc when the intake valve is closed (I + n) And the current intake air amount mc based on the output of the air flow meter using the equations (11), (8), (7) and (3) as described above. (I) 'Is calculated sequentially, and the intake air amount when the intake valve is closed is calculated as mc (I + n) -Mc (I) + Mc (I) '. By such a calculation method, at the time of engine steady state, mc calculated as the same throttle valve opening based on the same model formula (I + n) And mc (I) Are reliably canceled, and the accurate current intake air amount calculated based on the output of the air flow meter is obtained as the intake air amount when the intake valve is closed. Also, at the time of engine transition, mc (I) And mc (I) 'Is almost canceled out, (I + n) It is possible to obtain the intake air amount at the time of closing the intake valve calculated as:

【The invention's effect】
According to the intake air amount estimating device for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention, the atmospheric pressure used by the intake pipe pressure calculating means is learned and updated when the throttle valve opening is equal to or larger than the set opening and is stored even when the engine is stopped. When the intake pipe pressure is calculated for the first time when the engine is started, the atmospheric pressure used in the intake pipe pressure calculating means is set to a value between the corrected atmospheric pressure and the standard atmospheric pressure. ing. Thereby, even if the stored corrected atmospheric pressure is not accurately learned at the time of starting the engine, the initial value of the atmospheric pressure is brought closer to the accurate atmospheric pressure, and the amount of intake air at the time of starting the engine is reduced. It is possible to prevent the problem that the combustion air-fuel ratio becomes excessively lean at the start of the estimation and causes engine stall.
[0062]
According to another intake air amount estimating apparatus for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention, the atmospheric pressure used by the intake pipe pressure calculating means is learned and updated when the throttle valve opening is equal to or larger than the set opening. The corrected atmospheric pressure is also stored at the time of stop, and the intake air amount estimating device includes a guard means for replacing the intake pipe pressure with a guard value when the intake pipe pressure calculated by the intake pipe pressure calculation means is higher than the guard value. The guard value is set to a larger value by comparing the value based on the corrected atmospheric pressure with the minimum value of the intake pipe pressure newly calculated from the time of starting the engine based on the output of the air flow meter. It has become. Accordingly, even when the stored corrected atmospheric pressure is not accurately learned at the time of engine start, the guard value is initially set to the intake pipe pressure calculated based on the output of the air flow meter, and the abnormal Immediately after the start of the engine, the intake pipe pressure calculated by the intake pipe pressure calculation means is abnormally small, and the combustion air-fuel ratio becomes excessively lean because the intake air pressure calculated by the intake pipe pressure calculation means is not made a value based on the corrected atmospheric pressure that has been reduced In addition, problems such as occurrence of misfire can be prevented. In addition, the minimum value of the intake pipe pressure calculated based on the output of the air flow meter is definitely lower than the actual atmospheric pressure, and the guard value is not set excessively above the actual atmospheric pressure.
