Description
【0001】

【0040】
CPU(Central Processing Unit)41は、各種演算及び処理を行うものであって、中央演算処理装置として機能する。

[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, there has been known a tape printing apparatus that prints a desired character string on a print medium surface of a print tape formed by releasably laminating a print medium to which a pressure-sensitive adhesive is fixed in advance and a release paper. . This type of tape printer can be used for business or home use because of its ease of use, such as being able to print the title and title name on the surface of the print medium neatly and neatly and then pasting it on the spine of a document file. Widely used.
[0003]
Some of such tape printers have a fixed length setting function that allows a user to set the length (printing length) in the tape longitudinal direction of a printing area where a character string is printed. The user can perform printing with a desired print length. In addition, when the input character string does not fit within the print length set by the fixed length setting function, there is a device that notifies the user without performing printing (for example, see

Further, as one of printing tapes applicable to this type of tape printing apparatus, as described in
[0005]
However, if the fixed length setting function is not used when printing on a label tape, the entered character string may not fit in the label area and may be printed in a margin outside the label, thus wasting the label. In addition, it is necessary to adjust the character size, character spacing, number of characters, etc. of the character string again and repeat the above operation until printing can be performed properly. On the other hand, if the printing length is set so as to fit within the label area using the fixed length setting function, a character string can be appropriately printed in the label.
[0006]
However, even when the print length is set for a certain label tape by the fixed length setting function, if the label size is changed to a different label tape, the fixed length setting must be performed again. It takes time and effort.
[0007]
Therefore, as a tape printer capable of printing on such a label tape,

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the tape printer described in
Also, unlike ordinary printing tapes, the labels of label tapes often have special shapes and patterns such as chamfers at four corners and edging patterns. Therefore, if the normal printing tape and the label tape have the same length, the appropriate arrangement of the character strings visually differs between the normal printing tape and the label. In such a case, if the user has to reset the print format for each tape type, a very complicated work load is imposed on the user. This is inconvenient when printing is performed on both a normal printing tape and a label tape.
[0010]
Therefore, the present invention can use a normal printing tape and a label tape, and by appropriately performing printing control when the label tape is mounted, the label printing without increasing the user's work load. It is an object of the present invention to provide a tape printer capable of performing suitable printing, a program for controlling the tape printer, and a computer-readable recording medium storing the program.
