TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a breather device for a multi-cylinder vertical overhead valve engine.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, as a breather device of a multi-cylinder vertical overhead valve engine, a breather chamber is vertically provided between push rods corresponding to adjacent cylinders from a ceiling wall portion of a head cover mounted above a cylinder head, and each breather is provided. It is known that a chamber is communicated with a breather passage formed on a ceiling wall of a head cover, and a blow-by gas outlet is formed at a portion near one end of the ceiling wall of the head cover (see Patent Document 1).

[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the conventional breather device of the conventional multi-cylinder engine, the blow-by gas outlet is normally connected to the intake passage of the engine, and a plurality of breather chambers are formed under the same conditions. The amount of blow-by gas flowing into the breather chamber closer to the outlet is larger than the amount flowing into the other breather chambers, and the oil mixed into the blow-by gas flows out of the blow-by gas outlet without being sufficiently separated. However, there is a problem that the outflow of oil increases.
[0005]
The present invention pays attention to such a point, and an object of the present invention is to provide a breather device capable of reducing the amount of oil flowing out together with the blow-by gas by equalizing the amount of the blow-by gas in each breather chamber. .
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above-described object, the present invention provides a multi-cylinder vertical engine in which a breather chamber is suspended from a ceiling wall of a head cover between push rods of adjacent cylinders, and the breather chambers are connected to each other through a breather passage. In that, the flow resistance of the blow-by gas of each breather chamber is set to be smaller as the distance from the blow-by gas outlet is farther, so that the amount of the breather gas flowing into each breather chamber is configured to be uniform. I have.
[0007]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, a flow resistance of each breather chamber is adjusted by changing a filling amount of an oil separator disposed in each breather chamber. According to the present invention, the flow resistance of each breather chamber is adjusted by changing the filling density of the oil separator disposed in each breather chamber. According to the present invention, the flow resistance of each breather chamber is adjusted by changing the opening area of the inlet of each breather chamber.
[0008]
Effect of the Invention
In the present invention, the flow resistance in each of the breather chambers is changed so that the flow rate of the breather gas in the plurality of breather chambers is made uniform. Oil can be prevented from being taken out to the blow-by gas flowing out from the blow-by gas outlet without oil separation.
[0009]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
An embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. 1 to 3 are views for explaining a multi-cylinder vertical overhead valve engine according to an embodiment of the present invention. The configuration of this engine is as follows. That is, as shown in FIG. 1, a head cover (2) is attached to the upper side of the cylinder head (1), a breather chamber (3) is formed in the head cover (2), and the breather chamber (3) is connected to the head cover (2). The inside of the head cover (2) is communicated with the inside of a crankcase (not shown) through a push rod insertion hole (4) opened in the cylinder head (1).
[0010]
A rocker arm (5) is housed in the head cover (2). The rocker arm (5) is swingably supported on a rocker arm shaft (7) provided between the rocker arm brackets (6) and (6). A push rod (8) is provided on the lower surface of one end of the rocker arm (5). The upper end is abutted from below.
[0011]
And, among the push rods (8) arranged corresponding to the respective cylinders, the breather chamber (3) is suspended from the head cover (2) between the push rods (8) (8) of the adjacent cylinders. A blow-by gas inlet (9) is opened at the lower end of the breather chamber (3), and the upper part (10) of the cylinder head upper surface (10) between the adjacent push rod insertion holes (4) and (4) of the adjacent cylinder is located thereabove. The blow-by gas inlet (9) faces the ventilation gap (11).
[0012]
Further, a breather passage (12) is formed in the ceiling wall portion of the head cover (2) corresponding to the push rod arrangement side in parallel with the rocker arm shaft (7), and each breather chamber (3) is formed in the breather passage (12). ) Communicates with each other, and a blow-by gas outlet (13) is formed at a portion near one end of the breather passage (12). The blow-by gas outlet (13) is connected to an intake passage (not shown) of the engine.
[0013]
Each breather chamber (3) is filled with an oil separator (14) such as steel wool at the back (upper half) and an oil separator (lower half) at the blow-by gas inlet (9) side (lower half). A rubber plate (15) for holding down 14) and a holding plate (16) for preventing them from coming off are mounted. The rubber plate (15) is provided with a through hole (17), and the pressing plate (16) is formed by bending a punched metal plate.
[0014]
As shown in FIG. 3, the oil separator (14) filled in each breather chamber (3) has its filling amount changed according to the distance from the blow-by gas outlet (13). In the breather chamber (3a) located at a position close to (13), the filling amount of the oil separator (14) is the largest, and as the distance from the blow-by gas outlet (13) increases, the filling amount is reduced. The resistance at the time of gas passage in the breather chamber (3) is set so as to decrease as the distance from the blow-by gas outlet (13) increases.
[0015]
In this embodiment, the flow resistance in each breather chamber (3) is adjusted by changing the filling amount of the oil separator (14) in each breather chamber (3). The flow resistance in each breather chamber (3) may be adjusted by changing the filling density of the oil separator (14).
[0016]
FIG. 4 shows another embodiment. In this embodiment, the oil separator (14) filled in each breather chamber (3) has a fixed amount, and the blow-by gas inlet (9) of each breather chamber (3) is fixed. The diameter of the through hole (17) of the rubber plate (15) attached to the side portion is changed. The diameter of the through hole (17) is smaller than that of the breather chamber (3a) located closest to the blow-by gas outlet (13), and the arrangement of the breather chamber (3) is small. As the distance from the blow-by gas outlet (13) increases, the diameter of the through hole (17) provided in the rubber plate (15) mounted on the breather chamber (3) increases, The opening area at the time of gas inflow into each breather chamber (3) is set to be larger as the distance from the blow-by gas outlet (13) increases.
[0017]
In the breather apparatus in which the flow resistance and the passage area in the breather chamber (3) are changed as described above, the amount of blow-by gas flowing through each breather chamber (3) is made uniform regardless of the distance from the blow-by gas outlet (13). Therefore, since the oil flows intensively through the breather chamber (3) near the blow-by gas outlet (13), the oil is not sufficiently separated and can be prevented from being taken away by the blow-by gas.
[0018]
【The invention's effect】
In the present invention, the flow resistance in the breather chamber is changed in accordance with the distance from the blow-by gas outlet among the plurality of breather chambers vertically provided from the ceiling wall of the head cover, and therefore, regardless of the distance from the blow-by gas outlet. Therefore, the flow of the blow-by gas flowing through the breather chamber can be equalized, and the intensive flow in the breather chamber near the blow-by gas outlet can prevent the oil from being sufficiently separated and taken away by the blow-by gas.
