Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a structure of an antenna coil constituting a resonance circuit and a method of adjusting a resonance frequency using the antenna coil, and particularly, reads and writes data on a mounted IC chip in a non-contact manner. The present invention relates to a structure of an antenna coil of a RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) transponder, a method of adjusting a resonance frequency using the antenna coil, and an RFID system including a reader / writer suitable for the transponder.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, RFID systems for exchanging data between a transponder having an IC chip and a reader / writer (or reader) have become widespread. This RFID system communicates data using antennas provided in each of the transponder and the reader / writer. Therefore, even if the transponder is separated from the reader / writer by several cm to several tens of cm, communication is possible. Due to its advantage of being resistant to static electricity and the like, it has been used in various fields such as factory production management, distribution management, and entry / exit management.
[0003]
When performing data communication with this RFID system, it is necessary to match the resonance frequency of both the reader / writer and transponder antennas with the carrier frequency to be transmitted with a certain degree of accuracy. Here, the resonance frequency f of the antenna 0 Is expressed by the following equation using the inductance L of the antenna coil and the capacitance C of the capacitor.
[0004]
[0005]
From the equation (1), the resonance frequency f is obtained by increasing or decreasing either the inductance L of the antenna coil or the capacitance C of the capacitor. 0 Can be adjusted to a desired value. In the case of a reader / writer antenna or a large transponder, the adjustment is usually performed by a trimmer capacitor mounted on the antenna.
[0006]
On the other hand, in the case of a transponder having a small size, in particular, a transponder having a thickness of about 100 μm such as a sheet or a label, it may be difficult to mount a trimmer capacitor. The resonance frequency is adjusted by changing the capacitance by trimming.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In order to change the capacitance by trimming the film capacitor, it is necessary to form a large area film capacitor in the transponder. In particular, in the case of a small transponder, since the antenna coil is small and the inductance is small, a larger capacitor capacity is required to obtain a desired resonance frequency than a large transponder, and a film capacitor for obtaining a constant capacitance change rate is required. Becomes larger, which hinders downsizing of the transponder.
[0008]
Here, the structure of the conventional transponder will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 17 is a circuit diagram showing a basic configuration of a conventional RFID transponder, and FIG. 18 is a plan view showing a positional relationship between an antenna coil and a film capacitor of a resonance circuit in a small-sized sheet (label) transponder. .

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and a main object of the present invention is to provide a structure of an antenna coil of an RFID transponder capable of easily and accurately adjusting a resonance frequency, and a resonance using the antenna coil. An object of the present invention is to provide a frequency adjusting method and an RFID system including a reader / writer suitable for the transponder.
[0013]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, an RFID transponder according to the present invention is an RFID transponder including a resonance circuit including an antenna coil and a capacitor, wherein the antenna coil is configured by two antenna patterns connected to each other, At one end or both ends of the two antenna patterns, a region where the connection position can be adjusted is provided, and the resonance frequency of the antenna is adjusted by changing the connection position.
[0014]
In the present invention, the two antenna patterns may be respectively formed on the front surface and the back surface of the base material of the transponder, and the two antenna patterns may be connected to each other by a caulking structure or a through hole.
[0015]
Further, in the present invention, the two antenna patterns are constituted by an antenna pattern formed on one surface of the base material of the transponder, and a bridge pattern arranged at a predetermined position and angle on the antenna pattern. The antenna pattern and the bridge pattern may be connected by a caulking structure.
[0016]
Further, in the present invention, the two antenna patterns may be arranged such that, at the one end or both ends, a region in which the antenna patterns extend substantially in parallel with each other, or one antenna pattern has another antenna pattern. It is also possible to adopt a configuration having regions that intersect at a plurality of locations.
[0017]
Further, in the present invention, at least one of the two antenna patterns includes a plurality of comb-shaped branch paths whose ends are open at the one end or both ends, and at the end of the branch path, A configuration connected to the other antenna pattern, or a configuration including a plurality of short-circuit paths forming a closed loop, wherein the resonance frequency of the antenna is adjusted by connecting the two antenna patterns and disconnecting the short-circuit path It can also be.
[0018]
In the present invention, the capacitance between the two antenna patterns is controlled by at least a pattern shape, a pattern interval, and a dielectric constant of an insulating member interposed between the patterns, and the antenna is set by the inductance and the capacitance. Can be adjusted.
[0019]
In the present invention, the resonance frequency may be adjusted by adjusting a connection position and a connection angle of the bridge pattern with respect to the antenna pattern.
[0020]
Also, the RFID system of the present invention includes a transponder having a resonance frequency adjusting function, and a reader / writer having an antenna for communicating with the transponder, wherein the transponder and the reader are provided by using the resonance frequency adjusting function of the transponder. By adjusting the resonance frequency of the reader / writer antenna to be the same and increasing the reflection coefficient of the reader / writer, the configuration of the receiving unit of the reader / writer is simplified. The circuit between the antenna for receiving the signal from the transponder and the CPU for decoding the received signal includes a detection circuit, or a detection circuit and a comparator, or only a detection circuit, an amplification circuit, and a comparator. It can be configured.
[0021]
Further, the resonance frequency adjustment method of the present invention is a resonance frequency adjustment method for an RFID transponder including a resonance circuit including an antenna coil and a capacitor, wherein the antenna coil is connected to two antenna patterns. A region where the connection position can be adjusted is provided at one end or both ends of the two antenna patterns, and the inductance of the antenna coil is adjusted by adjusting the connection position.
[0022]
In the present invention, the two antenna patterns are formed on the front surface and the back surface of the base material of the transponder, respectively, and the two antenna patterns are caulked or connected through a through hole. A configuration for adjusting a path length of a coil, or an antenna pattern formed on one surface of a base material of the transponder, and a bridge arranged at a predetermined position and angle on the antenna pattern. A connection position, a connection angle, and a path length of an antenna coil of the bridge pattern with respect to the antenna pattern using the method of swaging the two antenna patterns.
[0023]
Further, in the present invention, at least a pattern shape, a pattern interval, and a capacitance between the two antenna patterns which fluctuate according to a dielectric constant of an insulating member interposed between the patterns are used, and the pattern shape, the pattern interval, and the insulating member are used. The resonance frequency of the antenna set by the inductance and the capacitance may be adjusted by adjusting the dielectric constant of the antenna.
[0024]
As described above, in the present invention, since the resonance frequency of the transponder is adjusted not by the capacitance of the capacitor but by the inductance of the antenna coil, the area of the conventional film capacitor portion formed for trimming can be omitted. The area of the entire transponder can be reduced.
[0025]
Further, in the present invention, the adjustment of the inductance of the antenna coil is not performed by sequentially trimming a plurality of paths provided in the antenna coil, but by joining the antenna pattern provided on the front and back surfaces of the base material or the antenna pattern and the bridge circuit. Since the adjustment is performed by adjusting the connection position, fine adjustment is possible, and the resonance frequency can be easily and reliably adjusted to a desired value.
[0026]
Furthermore, by using a transponder having such an antenna coil inductance adjusting mechanism, the resonance frequencies of the reader / writer antenna and the transponder antenna can be accurately matched, and the reader / writer by the transponder can be used even at a certain distance. The change of the reflection coefficient of the antenna of the writer can be maintained. As a result, it is possible to obtain an effect that a complicated circuit configuration such as a filter, an amplifier, and a comparator of the reader / writer receiver can be omitted.
[0027]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
In a preferred embodiment of the RFID transponder according to the present invention, a connection between a bridge circuit and two antenna patterns formed on the front and back surfaces of a base material such as a film or a substrate, or an antenna pattern formed on one surface. Since the resonance frequency is adjusted by changing the position, and the resonance frequency is adjusted by the inductance of the antenna coil, the area of the film capacitor portion can be omitted and the area of the entire transponder can be reduced. In addition, since it is not necessary to trim the paths provided in advance in the antenna coil, it is possible to easily adjust the inductance, and to prevent the change of the coupling coefficient and the generation of the eddy current due to the shift of the electrical center position of the antenna. Can be prevented. In addition, by enabling accurate adjustment of the resonance frequency of the transponder, the reflection coefficient of the reader / writer can be increased, thereby simplifying the configuration of the reader / writer receiving unit.

In order to describe the above-described embodiment of the present invention in more detail, examples of the present invention will be described.

First, an antenna coil structure of an RFID transponder according to a first embodiment of the present invention and a method of adjusting a resonance frequency using the antenna coil will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 1 is a diagram schematically showing the entire configuration of the RFID system, and FIGS. 2 and 3 are plan views showing an example of the structure of the RFID transponder according to the first embodiment.

However, as shown in FIG. The antenna pattern 5a) on the front side may be formed in a zigzag shape, a wave shape, a step shape, or the like, and may be configured to be swaged at the intersection of the two. In this configuration, the connection position cannot be adjusted steplessly as shown in FIG. 2, but the connection position 8 is easy to understand, and by adjusting the shape of the pattern, the amount of change in the resonance frequency at each intersection can be reduced. Since it can be specified, it is effective when such fine adjustment is not required.
[0042]
[Example 2]
Next, an antenna coil structure of an RFID transponder according to a second embodiment of the present invention and a method of adjusting a resonance frequency using the antenna coil will be described with reference to FIGS. FIGS. 4 to 6 are plan views showing an example of the structure of the RFID transponder according to the second embodiment.
[0043]
In the above-described first embodiment, the end of each antenna pattern is formed by a single continuous line, and both are connected at the connection position 8. For example, as shown in FIG. A plurality of comb-shaped branch paths 5d are provided at the end of the antenna pattern (the antenna pattern 5a on the front side in the figure), and the front end of the branch path 5d intersects the antenna pattern 5b on the back side. By caulking with the branch path 5d, a coil can be formed to change the inductance value. In the case of this structure, since the plurality of branch paths 5d are not connected to the other antenna pattern, unnecessary loops are not formed by the branch paths 5d other than the connection position 8, and there is no need to cut later. . Also, when two or more points are swaged by adjusting the resonance frequency, the cut of unnecessary loops thereafter can be minimized.
[0044]
In the method of adjusting the connection position 8 according to the present invention, the resonance frequency can be adjusted only in the higher direction. However, by combining the method of selecting a short-circuit path described in the prior application, the adjustment of the connection position 8 and the trimming of the short-circuit path Thereby, the resonance frequency can be adjusted to some extent freely. For example, as shown in FIG. 5, a plurality of short-circuit paths 5e are provided in one antenna pattern (in the figure, the antenna pattern 5a on the front surface side), and after being connected to the antenna pattern 5b on the back surface at a predetermined connection position 8, unnecessary. By trimming the short-circuit path 5e, the adjustment range of the inductance (that is, the resonance frequency) can be widened.
[0045]
Further, in the case of a structure in which the
[0046]
Note that the shapes of the comb-shaped branch path 5d in FIG. 4, the short-circuit path 5e in FIG. 5, and the comb-shaped capacitance adjusting electrode 5f in FIG. 6 are merely examples, and are not limited to the shapes in the figure. Any shape that can perform each function can be used.
[0047]
[Example 3]
Next, an antenna coil structure of an RFID transponder according to a third embodiment of the present invention and a method of adjusting a resonance frequency using the antenna coil will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 7 is a plan view showing an example of the structure of the RFID transponder according to the third embodiment.
[0048]
In the first and second embodiments described above, the case where the antenna patterns 5a and 5b are formed on the front and back surfaces in advance has been basically described. However, in the case of a bridge circuit, how to attach the bridge circuit (angle and position) is determined. By changing, the inductance value can be changed, and the resonance frequency can be adjusted.
[0049]
For example, as shown in FIG. 7, an antenna pattern 5a having a predetermined interval is formed in advance on one surface (the surface in the figure) of the base material 7 so that the bridge circuit 5c can be easily connected thereto. The bridge circuit 5c including the condenser 6 is swaged while adjusting the angle and the position. For example, in the configuration shown in the figure, when the bridge circuit 5c is connected to the lower right, the inductance of the
[0050]
In each of the above embodiments, the method of adjusting the resonance frequency of the resonance circuit formed in the RFID transponder has been described. However, the present invention is not limited to the above embodiment, and the structure of an arbitrary coil and its coil This can be applied to the adjustment of the inductance using.
[0051]
[Example 4]
Next, a reader / writer according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 8 and 9 are diagrams for explaining the reflection coefficient of the reader / writer antenna, and FIG. 10 is a diagram illustrating the configuration of the reader / writer output unit. FIG. 11 is a diagram showing an antenna end voltage waveform and a modulation factor, and FIG. 12 is a diagram showing the distance dependence of the modulation factor. 13 to 15 are a block diagram and a circuit diagram illustrating a configuration example of a reader / writer receiving unit according to the present embodiment. In this embodiment, a reader / writer which can be used in combination with a transponder having a frequency adjustment function as described in the first to third embodiments will be described.
[0052]
First, before describing the circuit configuration of the reader / writer of the present embodiment, characteristics of data communication of the
[0053]
That is, as shown in FIG. 9, if the minimum recognizable Δ | Γ | 0 Are matched, it is possible to receive a reply from the transponder 2 up to the distance B without signal amplification. In other cases, when receiving a reply from the transponder 2 at a distance longer than B ', signal amplification is required.
[0054]
When the reflection coefficient | Γ | of the antenna shown in FIG. 8 changes periodically, the antenna terminal voltage of the reader / writer output unit in FIG. 10 changes as shown in FIG. The larger the difference between the maximum value V2 and the minimum value V1 of the voltage waveform, the more the receiving circuit can be simplified, and the degree is expressed by the modulation degree (m) shown by the following equation.
[0055]
Modulation degree (m) = (V2−V1) / (V2 + v1) (2)
[0056]
When the relationship of the reflection coefficient | Γ | in FIG. 8 is applied to FIG. 10 and represented by the modulation factor m, the result is as shown in FIG. For example, when the antenna input voltage is 5 V, when the modulation factor m = 0.09, V2−V1 = 1 (V), and the detection waveform can be directly input to the
[0057]
Thus, the transponder 2 f 0 And f of reader / writer 3 0 Can be increased, the antenna reflection coefficient | Γ | of the reader / writer 3 can be increased, whereby the modulation degree m represented by the equation (2), that is, the maximum value and the minimum value of the voltage waveform at the antenna end can be obtained. The difference between the values can be increased.
[0058]
When this relationship is applied to the transponder 2 of the present invention, in the present invention, the connection positions of the antenna patterns formed on the front and back surfaces (one surface in the case of a bridge circuit) as shown in the first to third embodiments are determined. By adjusting, the inductance of the transponder 2, that is, the resonance frequency can be easily and reliably matched. Therefore, in the

Therefore, f of the transponder 2 0 And f of reader / writer 3 0 In the conventional reader / writer 3 that does not coincide with the above, a complicated circuit (for example, a filter circuit or a multi-stage amplification circuit) for detecting a slight voltage change before the signal detected by the detection circuit is decoded by the
[0060]
Note that the configuration of the reader / writer receiving section shows only a typical circuit, and may include a circuit other than the above. At least, the configuration of the RFID system in which the resonance frequency cannot be accurately adjusted may be included. What is necessary is just a structure simplified as compared with the case.
[0061]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the structure of the RFID antenna coil of the present invention, the method of adjusting the resonance frequency using the antenna coil, and the RFID system including the reader / writer suitable for the transponder, the following effects can be obtained. Play.
[0062]
A first effect of the present invention is that fine adjustment of the resonance frequency can be realized without causing loss of the Q value or increase of the area of the transponder.
[0063]
The reason is that by providing a mechanism that can change the connection position at the end of the antenna pattern on the front and back surfaces of the base material, or by providing a mechanism that can connect the bridge circuit freely to the antenna pattern provided on one side of the base material, That is, the resonance frequency can be adjusted, and it is not necessary to provide a film capacitor having a large area as in the related art.
[0064]
A second effect of the present invention is that the resonance frequency can be easily and reliably adjusted without causing a change in a coupling coefficient or generation of an eddy current.
[0065]
The reason is that, in the configuration of the present invention, unlike the method of trimming a plurality of short-circuit paths provided in the antenna coil, the electrical center of the antenna coil is not shifted depending on the trimming position, so that the coupling coefficient does not change, and This is because an eddy current is not generated because an unnecessary loop is not formed.
[0066]
A third effect of the present invention is that the circuit configuration of the reader / writer receiving section can be simplified.
[0067]
The reason is that by using a transponder having a frequency adjustment function as in the present invention, the resonance frequencies of the transponder and the reader / writer can be accurately matched, so that the maximum and minimum values of the antenna end voltage waveform can be adjusted. This is because the specified modulation degree can be increased, and there is no need to provide a complicated processing circuit. As a result, the number of mounted components can be reduced, the size of the circuit board can be reduced, and the power consumption can be reduced. As a result, a compact reader / writer suitable for battery operation can be realized.
