本発明は、画像形成装置のセキュリティと操作性、使用環境の改善に関するものである。

従来、使用者認証と、スリープ解除、個人で設定した機能や操作画面の呼び出し機能はそれぞれ独立で行われ、また、使用者やセキュリティの認証に関しては、IDカードと呼ばれる磁気などによる情報を持ったカードなどを用いて行われるのが通常であった。

また機能の設定も各個人で登録することは多くは不可能で、一般に前の使用者が設定した画面や機能がそのまま残ったり、タイマーなどで初期機能、初期画面に戻ってしまうことが通常である。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上記従来例では、使用者が本当に登録された使用者なのかの正確な判別が難しく、また、スリープ解除の時点での操作画面などは、初期操作画面か直前に使用していた者が設定した画面であることが多く、使用者が自分で登録した操作画面や機能などを毎回呼び出す必要があるなどの煩わしさがあった。

本発明の目的は、スリープ解除、使用者認証、カスタマイズされた機能設定の呼び出しを、指紋認証機能を備えたスリープ解除機構乃至は電源投入手段により一度に行い、不正使用に対するセキュリティと簡便さを追及した画像形成装置の提供である。

【課題を解決するための手段および作用】
本発明は、上記の問題を解決するため、以下(1)〜(4)の構成を備え、スリープ解除機構に指紋認識装置を組み込み、スリープ解除と同時に指紋を認識し、使用者を特定して、登録された使用者であればスリープを解除し、また、操作画面や機能を変更している使用者であれば、自動で変更された操作部や機能を読みこんで表示する。

(1)指紋を認識する手段と、自由に操作画面や機能を設定し記憶することが可能な機能と、スリープと呼ばれる待機時省電力機能(以下スリープ)とそれを解除する機構と、使用者の認証機能を有する画像形成装置において、スリープ解除時に指紋認証を行い使用者を特定すると同時に、その使用者の設定した操作画面や機能を装置が自動で再設定しスリープ機能から復帰するようにした画像形成装置。

(2)スリープ解除機構に指紋認識手段を組み込んで、スリープ解除と同時に使用者認識をするようにした上記(1)記載の画像形成装置。

(3)指紋認識機構をスリープ解除スイッチとすることで、使用者認識をすると同時にスリープを解除するようにした上記(1)記載の画像形成装置。

(4)指紋を認識する手段と、自由に操作画面や機能を設定し記憶することが可能な機能と、電源を投入するスイッチと、使用者の認証機能を有する画像形成装置において、電源投入時に指紋認証を行い使用者を特定すると同時に、その使用者の設定した操作画面や機能を装置が自動で再設定するようにした画像形成装置。

以上により、指紋認証によるセキュリティの向上をはかり、また、速やかに作業にかかれるように画面設定操作などの煩わしさを低減させることを特徴とする。

また、スリープ機構は装置の省電力に貢献し、省エネルギーのために使用時に毎回電源を投入/切断しなくても良くなると言う利点があるため、多くの画像形成装置において使用されている。

以下に本発明の実施の形態を、実施例に基づいて図面を参照しながら説明する。

(第1の実施例)
図1は本発明を最も良く表した図であり、画像形成装置1の表示部近傍を上部から見た図で、2が画像形成装置操作部、3が指紋認証機構付きスリープ開始/解除スイッチ、5が画像形成装置操作部2の表示部分である。

上記構成において、指紋認証機構付きスリープ開始/解除スイッチ3を指で押すことで、図2のシーケンスが起動し指紋認証が行なわれ、使用者として登録された指紋である場合さらにスリープ解除が行なわれて、その後に、認識された使用者がカスタマイズした機能設定を行なう。

図3は、第1の実施例の変形系である。13は指紋認識装置であって、スリープ解除ボタンをボタンではなくタッチ式の指紋認証機構と同一としたものである。
