本発明は、殺虫剤等の熱揮散性薬剤と例えばニトロセルロースやアゾジカルボンアミド等のガス発生剤を含んでなる燻煙剤組成物を、水と接触して発熱する発熱物質の水和反応熱により加熱することによりガス発生剤を熱分解させ、熱揮散性薬剤を煙として大気中に放出させることによりゴキブリ、ダニ、蚊、蠅等の害虫を駆除せんとする燻煙発生装置用として用いられる、水を入れる水容器及び当該水容器を用いた燻煙発生製品に関する。また、本発明は当該水容器の上蓋に関する。

【従来の技術】
燻煙剤組成物を、酸化カルシウム等の、水と接触して発熱する発熱物質の水和反応熱により加熱して、熱揮散性薬剤を煙として大気中に放出させる燻煙装置は、従来から広く用いられている。即ち、燻煙剤組成物と酸化カルシウムなどの発熱物質を隔壁を介して収納した燻煙発生装置を、使用時に所定量の水を入れた水容器内に静置することにより、しばらくして、水容器内の水が燻煙発生装置中の酸化カルシウムなどの発熱物質の収納部に浸入し、この際生じる水和反応による熱で燻煙剤組成物を加熱し、殺虫剤等の熱揮散性薬剤を大気中に放出させて害虫を防除しようとするものである。

この種の燻煙発生装置を使用する場合には、水容器に入れる水の量を或る程度正確に計り取ることが必要である。水容器に入れられた水の量が、所定量より少ない場合には、酸化カルシウムなど発熱剤の水和反応が不十分となり、十分な燻煙が得られないし、また、所定量よりも水が過剰な場合には、発熱温度が充分に上昇することができず、やはり、十分な燻煙を得ることが困難となる。
このために従来は、水容器の容器本体に適切な水の量を表示する目線が入れられていたが、この種の燻煙発生装置を使用する場合の、水を入れる水容器への水の添加は、従来からコップ等を用いる方法がとられており、このような方法では必然的に水の量が不正確にならざるを得なかった。

また、従来の燻煙発生製品は燻煙発生装置、水容器ともに円柱状であり、当該装置と水容器間のスペースが小さいことから、水容器に必要量の水を入れた後で燻煙装置を上方から挿入する際に、指が入りにくく、やむなく途中から落とさざるを得ないこともあった。このため、水の一部が撥ね飛び、適切な水量で水和反応がなされず、最悪の結果として十分発煙しなくなることもあった。このために指が充分入るような水容器にしようとすれば、水容器自体の直径が大きくなり、製品の運搬や保管のために広いスペースが必要とされることになり、直径を大きくすることも製品の性格上困難であった。
さらに、水容器に上蓋を設ける場合には、当該上蓋は、燻煙発生装置から発生した燻煙をほぼ完全に放出させるために、燻煙発生装置の上部断面の燻煙が放出される孔部分よりも大きな開口部を有する必要があるが、このような大きな開口部を設けた場合には、装置全体が転倒した場合に燻煙発生装置が水容器から飛び出し加熱した燻煙発生装置や加熱した水が飛散する可能性がある。本発明はこのような場合にも安全に使用できる水容器の上蓋を提供するものである。
さらに、水を入れた水容器に燻煙発生装置を入れると、燻煙発生装置は約300℃程度の高温になり、水容器を直接床の上に置いて燻煙させた場合には、床が変質する可能性もあった。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
本発明は、以上のような従来製品の問題点を解決することを目的としている。即ち、本発明の第一の目的は、簡便でかつ容易に燻煙発生に必要な水の量を正確に計り取れることのできる水容器、及びそれを用いた燻煙発生製品を提供することである。本発明の第二の目的は、円柱状である燻煙発生装置を指で持ったまま、水容器の底部に容易にかつ確実に設置できるコンパクトな水容器、及びそれを用いた燻煙発生製品を提供することである。本発明の第三の目的は、床が変質する恐れのない、安全に使用することができる水容器、及びそれを用いた燻煙発生製品を提供することである。
また、本発明の他の目的は、生産ラインにおける機械適性が良好であり、流通等において、商品の品質安定性が確保され、さらに水容器、上蓋並びに水容器胴体に装着されたフィルムが、燻煙時の発熱に対する耐熱性を有し、かつ家屋内材質に対して、熱変質などの影響を及ぼさないなどの、生産効率及び流通効率が良好で、安全性の高い水容器、及びそれを用いた燻煙発生製品を提供することである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明者らは、前記問題点を解決するために、燻煙発生装置の水容器の形状、構造を鋭意検討してきたところ、水容器の断面の形状を略四角状にすることにより従来の円筒状の水容器とほぼ同じ大きさで安全かつ確実に燻煙発生装置を水容器に設置することができ、かつ水容器の外形の大きさが従来のものとほぼ同じ程度であることから、流通過程における運搬や保管スペースも従来の製品とほぼ同じ程度ですませることができることを見出した。また、水容器の容器本体下部の水秤量位置又はその近傍において、段差を設けることにより、意外にも簡便に且つ確実に水容器に入れる水の量を正確に計り取ることができることを見出した。さらに、水容器の底部の温度変化を入念に検討してきたところ、水容器の底部に2.5mm以上の樹脂製の台座を設けることにより、床面における温度を安全基準値以下にすることができることを見出した。

即ち、本発明は、水と接触して燻煙を発生する燻煙発生装置の水容器において、容器本体下部の水秤量位置又はその近傍において、段差が設けられていることを特徴とする燻煙発生装置の水容器を提供するものであり、また、本発明は、水と接触して燻煙を発生する燻煙発生装置の水容器において、当該水容器の断面の形状が略四角状、好ましくは略四角状の外縁周の一辺が、少なくとも18mm以上であることを特徴とする燻煙発生装置の水容器を提供するものであり、さらに、本発明は、水と接触して燻煙を発生する燻煙発生装置の水容器において、底面から突出した台座、好ましくは樹脂製の台座が設けられており当該台座の高さが2.5mm以上であることを特徴とする燻煙発生装置の水容器を提供するものである。
また、本発明は、前記した本発明の水容器に適した水容器の上蓋、及び前記した本発明の水容器の内部に燻煙発生装置が収納されてなる水と接触して燻煙を発生する燻煙発生製品を提供するものである。

より詳細には、本発明は、水と接触して燻煙を発生する燻煙発生装置の水容器に脱着可能に設けられた上蓋であって、燻煙発生装置が通り抜けることができる大きさのリング状で内縁部が外縁部とほぼ同様な形状の開口部を有し、かつ当該開口部の内縁部に燻煙発生装置の通り抜けを防止するためのリブが設置されたことを特徴とする水容器の上蓋、及び前記した本発明の水容器の内部に燻煙発生装置が収納されてなる水と接触して燻煙を発生する燻煙発生製品に関する。

水容器に入れる水の量を正確に計り取るためには、秤量の位置がわかりやすくかつ見やすいこと並びに秤量の誤差が小さくなることが好ましい。従来は水容器に目盛り線を入れることにより水を入れる位置を表示していた。水容器を目の位置まで持ち上げて水の量を正確に計量すればよいのであるが、この方法では操作が煩雑になるために多くの場合には水容器の上から水を入れる方法がとられてきた。しかし、この方法では容器の上から水を入れるために、目盛り線が見えにくく、往々にして水の量が不正確となり充分な燻煙発生効果を生じさせることができなかった。
本発明の水容器の第一の特徴点は、容器下部の水秤量位置又はその近傍において、段差を設けたことである。目盛り線のような線ではなく、容器に不連続な形状を付すことにより、水容器の上から見ても、秤量の位置が容器の形状の変化として目視できることから、簡便に且つ確実に水の量を正確に秤量することができることがわかった。

本発明の水溶器における段差としては、上から見て水容器内壁の形状が不連続であることが分かるものであればよい。より具体的には水容器の断面積(S)が、容器の深さ(x)に対して不連続に、より好ましくは急激に変化するような段差である。例えば、図1に示されるように容器側壁に対してほぼ垂直な段差を挙げることができる。

図1は、本発明の水容器の例の側面図である。水容器1は上部に開口部を有する容器であり、開口部の外縁9、上部側壁2、段差3、下部側壁4、底面5及び台座6からなり、容器内部は、段差3の部分から上の水容器上部8及び水容器下部7からなっている。水容器下部7には燻煙発生装置を安定に置くためのリブ10が設けられている。
図2は図1に示した水容器1の立面図である。この例では底面5に設けられたリブ10が8本示されている。段差3において水容器1の断面積が急激に小さくなっており、段差部分が水容器1の上部からも明瞭に見ることができる。
図1及び図2に示した例では段差3は水容器の側壁に対してほぼ垂直に設けられているが、本発明の段差はこの例のように急激な段差でなくてもよい。水容器の上方から見て断面積の変化を目視することができればよく、斜めの段差でもよいし、適当な半径の曲面を形成していてもよい。

なお、リブ10は、燻煙発生装置を水容器に設置する際に、燻煙発生装置を安全かつ容易に水容器のほぼ中央部に設置されるように仕向けるガイドとしての機能も有している。このため、リブに直線状又は曲線状のガイド用の傾斜を設けた形状にするのが好ましい。また、リブの上面の面積を一定以上確保し、さらに、リブの角を取るなどの工夫をすることが好ましい。例えば、リブの幅を1〜5mmとし、角を0.5〜2Rの形状とするのが好ましい。
また、リブの数には特に制限はないが、4〜20本が好ましい。
さらに、水容器と燻煙発生装置の包装体との間(例えば、上・側面部又は底・側面部)に紙やプラスチックなどの緩衝材を設置することにより、流通過程における運搬時の製品や包装材の破損などを防止することができる。

このような不連続な断面積の変化を設けることにより、意外にもこの水容器に上から水を入れてゆくと、容器内部に貯まった水の水面の面積の変化を明瞭に知ることができ、簡便な方法で正確に水の量を秤量することができることがわかった。従来の目盛り線による秤量では、水面の面積の変化ではなく、目盛りの位置しか判断材料が無く、正確な秤量は困難であったが、本発明の水容器によれば、段差を設けたことにより水面の面積が段差部分において急激に変化するために、極めて明瞭に水位を知ることができ、正確な水の秤量を可能としたのである。
即ち、60名のモニターに、水容器に段差を設けたことの効果を聞いたところ、秤量の目安になるなどの効果があると挙げられた好意的意見は73%を占めた。この結果を表1に示す。

本発明の段差は、断面積の変化が不連続となるものであればよく、極端に言えば水容器上部の断面積と水容器下部の断面積が異なるものであればよいが、水容器上部の断面積のほうが水容器下部の断面積よりも大きくなっているものが好ましい。とりわけ水容器の断面の形状が略四角状になった場合には、従来の円柱状の水容器に比べて断面積が大きくなるために、所定の水の量において十分な水深を得られにくくなったり、また水位の僅かな違いによる秤量誤差が大きくなるために、水容器下部の断面積は小さいほうが好ましい。
水容器下部の好ましい断面積としては、水容器上部の断面積の90%以下が好ましいが、これに限定されるものではない。より詳細には水容器上部の断面積の50%〜90%、好ましくは70%〜90%である。

本発明の水容器には、前記した段差に対してさらに、従来のような目盛り線を設けてもよい。目盛り線は段差の直下又はその近辺に設けることが好ましい。目盛り線としては、黒などの水容器の材質と異なる色彩で施すのが好ましい。このような目盛り線は、水容器自体のエンボス加工やインクジェットプリンターによる印刷により水容器自体に設けることもできるし、水容器の外側のフィルムに印刷して固着させてもよい。

また、本発明者らは、従来の円柱状である燻煙発生装置に対して、水容器を略角柱状とすることで、中に入れる燻煙発生装置との間にスペースを確保することにより、指が入り易くなり、その結果、燻煙発生装置を持ったまま水容器の底部に当該装置を設置することが可能となり、水が撥ね飛ぶ危険性が低減された燻煙発生装置の水容器を開発するに至った。
水容器の形状を略角柱状にすることにより燻煙発生装置の入れ易さについて、60名のモニターによる実験を行った。即ち、本発明の水容器と従来の円柱状の水容器を比較例として用いて、60名のモニターに燻煙発生装置の入れやすさを調査した。その結果を表2に示す。

この結果、本発明の水容器では入れやすいと回答したモニターが43%であったのに対して、比較例のものでは23%でしかなかった。また入れにくいと回答したモニターは比較例の円柱状のものでは3%いたが、本発明の略角柱状の水容器では0%であった。この結果水容器の形状を略角柱状にすることにより燻煙発生装置を極めて容易にいれることができ、燻煙発生装置を水容器に入れる際の水が撥ね飛ぶ危険性を顕著に低減できることがわかった。
本発明の水容器の容器本体は、その形状が略角柱状であることから、燻煙発生装置を水容器に入れやすくなるだけでなく、水容器を誤って転倒させても転がらず、また上蓋には燻煙発生装置の飛び出し防止となり得る内部リブを有するリングが設けられているので、水容器内部の燻煙発生装置が飛び出すこともない。したがって、より安全に燻煙発生装置を使用することができる。さらに、本発明の水容器の容器本体は、その形状を略四角柱状とすることにより、運送時や保管時又は小売店での陳列時において、無駄なスペースが少なくなり保管や陳列のスペースを有効に利用することができる。

本発明の略四角柱状の水容器の大きさや形状については、特に制限はないが、断面の対角線の長さが、燻煙発生装置の直径とこれを支える指二本分の巾の和以上あればよい。また、深さは燻煙発生装置を収納するのに充分な深さがあれば足りる。本発明の略四角柱状の水容器は、燻煙発生装置を指で持ったまま燻煙発生装置を底面に設置するに充分な空間を有するので、従来の円柱状の水容器に比べてやや深い設計にしてもよい。
本発明の略四角柱状の水容器は、断面が略四角状で、対角線方向に前記した長さを確保することができ、正立、転倒時の安定性も高いものであれば、断面の形状に格別の制限はないが、その少なくとも一部に直線部分を有するものが好ましい。より好ましくは、四辺がそれぞれ直線部分を有する形状が挙げられる。また、曲線部分を有することは必ずしも必須ではないが、四隅が曲線になっているものが好ましい。直線部分の長さや曲線部分の半径にも特に制限はなく、正立、転倒時の安定性などを考慮して適宜設計することができる。

本発明者らの詳細な研究によれば、略角柱状容器の外縁周の一面において少なくとも18mm以上の直線部を有することが好ましく、また、四隅の曲線部分としてはRを15mm以上にするのが好ましい。しかしながら、本発明の水容器がこれらのものに限定されるものではない。
本発明の水容器を前記のように設計することにより、蓋装着機やラベル機械の機械適性が向上し、また搬送工程を考慮して、略角柱状容器の外縁周の一面において少なくとも18mm以上の直線部を有するようにすることにより搬送時に容器同士のぶつかりによる容器の回転防止などの効果を奏することができる。

本発明の水容器は、底面5の下に台座6を有するものが好ましい。台座6は、水容器を安定に設置するためだけでなく、燻煙を発生させた際の発熱が床面に伝達するのを防止するために設けられる。台座6の最下端、即ち床面に接触する部分の最高温度が80℃以下であることが求められているが、本発明者らの研究によれば、樹脂製の台座6の高さが2.5mm以上あれば、台座6の最下端、即ち床面に接触する部分の最高温度を60℃以下とすることができることがわかった。
このように、床材への輻射熱の影響を考慮すると、台座の高さは2.5mm以上が好ましく、3〜5mmが熱的影響と安定性を両立できることからより好ましい。また、台座6には空気の流通をよくするために適宜孔を開けたり、切れ目などを入れてもよい。
したがって、本発明の水容器は、その使用中あるいは使用後に床が変質する恐れがなく、燻煙発生装置を安全に使用することができる。

本発明の水容器本体の材質としては、添加する水の量を簡便に且つ正確に秤量して入れられるので不透明な材質であっても良いが、耐熱性を有し、かつ、水の添加状態を外側から確認することのできる、透明または半透明の材質が好ましく、例えば、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)、ポリ塩化ビニル(塩ビ)等の合成樹脂が挙げられるが、なかでもポリプロピレンが好ましい。水容器の耐熱性をさらに向上させる方法として、樹脂の重合度を調整したり、炭酸カルシウム、タルク等の無機鉱物質を配合したり、容器の肉厚を増加させるなどの方法を採用することもできる。
本発明の水容器の好ましい材質としては、0.45MPaにおける荷重たわみ温度が100℃以上、好ましくは122℃以上の樹脂が挙げられる。種々の荷重たわみ温度を有する樹脂を用いて水容器の耐熱性を実験した結果を次の表3に示す。

この結果から、0.45MPaにおける荷重たわみ温度が100℃未満では顕著な熱変形が発生するが、100℃以上では熱変形も少なくなることがわかる。しかし、熱変形を起こさないようにするためには、0.45MPaにおける荷重たわみ温度が122℃以上の樹脂を使用する必要があることがわかる。
したがって、本発明は、0.45MPaにおける荷重たわみ温度が100℃以上、好ましくは122℃以上の樹脂製の燻煙発生装置の水容器を提供するものでもある。

本発明の水容器は、樹脂製などのものをそのまま使用することもできるが、フィルムなどで被覆して使用するのが好ましい。このようなフィルムとしては、耐熱性があり、印刷性が良好なものであればよいが、操作の簡便性から熱収縮性フィルムが好ましい。
従来の円筒状の水容器では、燻煙時の輻射熱が容器胴体に装着されたフィルムに対してほぼ一様となり、熱収縮のバランスが図られることから、燻煙時においても比較的フィルムは破れにくかったが、本発明の水容器のように略角柱状では輻射熱のかかり方が胴体中央部と角では差があるため、熱バランスが不均等となり充分な強度を有するものでないと破れやすくなる。そのため、ポリプロピレン、PET、塩ビ等の耐熱性の高い熱収縮フィルムを用いることが好ましく、中でも熱収縮性、焼却時の発生ガスの観点から、ポリオレフィン系のものがもっとも好ましい。ポリオレフィン系としては、直鎖状または環状のものやエチレン−プロピレン、あるいはエチレン−プロピレン−ブテン等の共重合体のものが挙げられる。また、環状ポリオレフィン系樹脂からなる熱収縮性フィルムは透明性、光沢に優れ、適度な腰を有することから商品性、機械適性の面からもいっそう好ましい。

本発明の水容器に燻煙発生装置の包装体を収納した後、開口された水容器の上部をフィルム素材により密閉することにより燻煙発生製品とすることができる。本発明の燻煙発生製品は、必要に応じて密閉された水容器にさらに後記する上蓋を設けることもできる。
水容器の上部の開口部を密閉するための好ましいフィルム素材としては、その突刺強度として1700g以上(突刺先端0.5R、100mm/min)の物性を有するものが挙げられる。
水容器上部へのフィルム素材による密閉方法としては、例えば熱圧着によるピーラブル包装により行うことが出来る。また、密閉後における水容器内部の圧力調整の面から、フィルムや水容器の一部に適宜孔や切れ目などの窓部を設けてもよい。例えば、水容器の上端部に切れ目を設けることが挙げられる。この切れ目などの窓部の形状は任意のものでよく、水容器内部と外部の圧力調整が可能な大きさの面積を有するものであればよく、また、数も1個以上あればよく適宜決めることが出来る。設置位置も上端部に限定されるわけではなく、適宜決めることが出来る。好ましい窓部としては、上端部に幅0.1〜3.0mm、好ましくは0.5〜1.5mm、深さ0.5〜3.0mm好ましくは0.5〜1.5mm程度の切れ目を設ける方法が挙げられる。

また、燻煙発生装置を密閉するためのフィルム素材としては、流通等において、商品の品質安定性が確保されること、また、燻煙発生装置の防湿を目的として、アルミラミネート包装を用いることが一般的であるが、水溶器の上部をフィルム素材で密閉することにより、燻煙発生装置のアルミラミネート包装を省略しても外的衝撃から製品を保護することができる。

本発明の水容器は、これを単独で使用することもできるが、使用時における燻煙発生装置の飛び出しを防止するために上蓋を用いるのが好ましい。上蓋としては、発生した燻煙を放出することができる開口部を有するリング状のものが好ましい。リング状の上蓋は、燻煙時に発生するガスや輻射熱の影響を受けることから、やはり耐熱性を有することが求められる。内縁部形状は、円、多角形等いずれも可能であるが、燻煙時の転倒における燻煙発生装置の飛び出しを防止しつつ、できる限り開口部を大きくし、さらには開口上部のフィルム素材を保護する観点から、内縁部と外縁部はほぼ同様な形状とし、内縁部に燻煙発生装置の飛び出しを防止するためのリブを設置することが好ましい。また、内縁部の肉厚を大きくすることで、耐熱性を更に向上させることが可能である。

本発明の上蓋の例を図3に示す。図3は本発明の上蓋の例の平面図である。上蓋20は、外縁部21と内縁部22を有するリング状のものであり、中央部に外縁部21とほぼ同じ形状の開口部25を有する。開口部25には燻煙発生装置の飛び出しを防止するためのリブ24が設けられている。この例では開口部25を大きく設計しているために、このままでは燻煙発生装置が通り抜けるでき使用時に燻煙発生装置が飛び出す可能性がある。このリブ24により水容器内部に収容された燻煙発生装置の飛び出しを防止することができる。
また、上蓋20には外縁部21とほぼ同じ形状をした溝23が設けられている。溝23は上蓋20の表面に凹凸を形成し、当該溝23に図1における台座6が収容可能に設計されている。したがって、上蓋20の上に水容器1を重ねた場合には、上段の水容器1の台座6が下段の上蓋20の溝23にかみ合い、安定に製品を重ねて置くことができるようになっている。
