Abstract
Description
【0001】
ここで用いられる符号化の方式としては、ファクシミリ送受信のために一般的に用いられている符号化の方式が好適であり、具体的には、MMR(モディファイド・モディファイド・リード)方式、MR(モディファイド・リード)方式、あるいはMH(モディファイド・ハフマン)方式等が該当する。
【0013】

In recent years, the functions of facsimile apparatuses have been diversified, and in addition to facsimile transmission / reception, those having a function of transmitting / receiving e-mail by connecting to the Internet have appeared. In such a facsimile apparatus, the user can select whether the image data of the document read by the document reading unit is transmitted by facsimile or transmitted as an attached file of an e-mail. In general, e-mail transmission can reduce communication cost lower than facsimile transmission, and therefore, in many cases, there is no problem even if the amount of communication data is increased by increasing the resolution or density. On the other hand, in facsimile transmission, the communication cost is high especially in the case of a long distance, so that the amount of communication data must be minimized.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in a conventional facsimile apparatus having an e-mail communication function, the image data of a document is not distinguished between the case of performing facsimile transmission and the case of performing e-mail transmission according to the same initial settings such as resolution and density. If the initial settings such as the resolution and density of the image data of the original to be transmitted were set low because of the scanning and transmission of the document, take advantage of the low communication cost when sending e-mail. Image data with high resolution and density cannot be transmitted, and conversely, if the initial settings such as the resolution and density of the image data of the document to be transmitted are set high, the facsimile transmission However, there has been a problem that the amount of communication data increases and communication costs increase. Further, in order to prevent such a problem from occurring, a user of the facsimile apparatus needs to set resolution, density, and the like according to each transmission method when reading or transmitting image data of a document. It was necessary to perform an operation to adjust the value.
[0004]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and does not require an operation to adjust set values such as resolution and density when reading or transmitting image data of a document, and performs facsimile transmission or e-mail transmission. By automatically transmitting image data of a document using setting values such as resolution and density according to each transmission method, it is possible to prevent an increase in communication cost and to appropriately perform transmission according to the transmission method. An object of the present invention is to provide a communication device capable of transmitting image data such as resolution and density.

Also, in general, e-mail transmission in which image data of an original is transmitted as an attached file can reduce communication costs and increase the amount of transmitted data compared to facsimile transmission. High quality image data can be transmitted by increasing the resolution and density of the image data. On the other hand, in facsimile transmission, especially at a long distance, the communication cost increases, and the amount of transmission data must be kept as small as possible. Therefore, the resolution and density of the image data of the document to be transmitted cannot be made too high. Therefore, it is preferable to set the resolution and density at the

This determination is made based on whether a dial number or an e-mail address has been input as a destination to be transmitted in process S1. Therefore, when the dial number is input as the destination, the transmission method is facsimile transmission, and when the e-mail address is input as the destination, it is determined that the transmission method is e-mail transmission. If there are a plurality of transmission destinations and both the dial number and the e-mail address are input, it is determined that the transmission method of the image data of the original is both facsimile transmission and e-mail transmission.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the communication apparatus of the first aspect of the present invention, the resolution and density at the time of reading the original are determined by whether the image data of the original is transmitted by facsimile or as an attached file of an e-mail. Can be set individually for one or both of the initial setting values, so that the facsimile transmission or the e-mail transmission can be performed without performing the operation of adjusting the setting values for the resolution and density used for transmitting the image data of the original. It is possible to automatically read image data of a document using the set values of resolution and density according to each transmission method and transmit the image data, thereby preventing an increase in communication cost. At the same time, it is possible to transmit image data having an appropriate resolution and density according to the transmission method.
[0036]
According to the communication device according to the second aspect of the present invention, depending on whether the image data of the original is transmitted by facsimile or as an attached file of an e-mail, one of the resolution and the density when transmitting the image data of the original or Since both initial setting values can be set individually, the facsimile transmission or e-mail transmission can be performed automatically without performing the operation of adjusting the setting values of the resolution and density used for transmitting the image data of the original. Since the resolution and density of the image data of the document can be converted and the image data can be transmitted using the set values of the resolution and density according to the respective transmission methods, the communication cost increases. It is possible to transmit image data having an appropriate resolution and density according to the transmission method while preventing the image data from being transmitted.
[0037]
According to the communication device of the third aspect of the present invention, in addition to the above-described effects, the initial setting value of one or both of the resolution and the density when the image data of the document is transmitted as an attached file of the e-mail is set to a facsimile. By setting higher than one or both of the initial values of the resolution and the density in the case of transmission, in the case of e-mail transmission, the resolution and density of the image data of the original are increased to transmit high-quality image data. In the case of facsimile transmission, the amount of transmission data can be reduced to prevent an increase in communication cost.
