Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a heating device and an image forming device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Such a heating device is disclosed in JP-A-63-313182, JP-A-1-263679, JP-A-2-1577878, JP-A-4-44075 to 4-44083, and the like.
[0003]
This heating device comprises an elongated surface-shaped heater (heating body) having a substrate and a heating resistor provided on the substrate and generating heat by energization, and is pressed against the heater via a heat-resistant film or directly. A press-contact member for forming a nip portion by introducing a material to be heated between the heat-resistant film of the nip portion and the pressure roller, and bringing the material to be heated into close contact with the heat-resistant film surface to thereby provide heat resistance. This is a system / structure in which the heat of the heater is applied to the material to be heated via the heat-resistant film by running with the film.
[0004]
The apparatus is, for example, an image heating and fixing device in an image forming apparatus such as an electrophotographic copying machine, a printer, a facsimile, etc. An unfixed toner image corresponding to the target image information formed directly or indirectly (transferred) on the surface of the recording material (electrofax sheet, electrostatic recording sheet, transfer material sheet, printing paper, etc.) using It can be used as a means for performing a heat fixing process as a permanent fixed image on the surface of the recording material carrying the image.
[0005]
The heating device of this type can use a heater having a low heat capacity and a thin film material that can quickly raise the temperature, so that it is possible to save power and shorten the wait time (quick start property). This is an effective one that has the advantage that the temperature rise inside the machine such as the device can be reduced.
[0006]
As a heater having a low heat capacity, a heat-resistant / insulating ceramic substrate and a heat-generating resistor formed on the substrate by means of printing, firing, or the like are used as basic components, and power is supplied to the heat-generating resistor to generate heat. A ceramic heater is used.
[0007]
In the ceramic heater, the power supply to the heating resistor is controlled by a temperature control system including a temperature detecting element, and the temperature is controlled to a predetermined use temperature. In addition, a safety device such as a thermal fuse is provided, and when the heater temperature rises to a temperature equal to or higher than the use upper limit temperature, energization of the heating resistor is cut off by operation of the safety device.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the heater of such a heating device, there is a portion where the temperature distribution becomes non-uniform due to the configuration, and for example, there is a portion in the longitudinal direction where the temperature rises more rapidly at startup than at other portions. Such a portion having a large temperature gradient is subjected to thermal stress greater than other portions when the startup is repeated many times, so that damage may occur even in a normal use condition. In some cases, cracks are generated by the repetitive stress, and ultimately break down. For this reason, the heater and the heater holder are bonded to each other. However, since this is a place requiring heat resistance, a thermosetting adhesive or the like is used. Therefore, assembling the heater and the heater holder is a separate step, and requires an operation of fixing the shape with a fixing jig after applying the adhesive and heating in the high-temperature layer.
[0009]
Therefore, the present invention enables reliable bonding with a thermosetting adhesive without using the above-described separate process, suppresses repetitive stress at a portion where the temperature distribution becomes non-uniform, and prevents breakage of the heater. Aim.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention is a heating device and an image forming apparatus having the following configurations.
[0011]
(1) A heater having a substrate and a heating resistor provided on the substrate and having a heating resistor as a basic component, a heater holder for holding the heater, a heat-resistant film slidable in contact with the heater, and the heater A pressure member that presses against the heat-resistant film with the heat-resistant film between the heat-resistant film and the pressure roller in the nip formed between the heater and the pressure roller with the heat-resistant film therebetween. The material to be heated is introduced into the nip, and the material to be heated is conveyed through the nip portion together with the heat-resistant film in a state where the material to be heated is in close contact with the heat-resistant film. Wherein the heater and the heater holder are adhered and fixed with a thermosetting adhesive in a heating element region in the heater.
[0012]
(2) The pressure roller is longer than the heating element of the heater, and the heating element does not go outside from a nip portion formed between the heater and the pressure roller with the heat resistant film interposed therebetween. The heating device according to (1), wherein the heater is disposed inside the nip portion region, and the heater is fixed to the heater holder.
[0013]
(3) An image forming apparatus including an image forming unit for forming a toner image on a recording material and an image heating unit for heating the toner image, wherein the image heating unit is any one of (1) and (2). An image forming apparatus, which is the heating apparatus according to any one of the above.
[0014]
(Action)
That is, heat is applied from the heating element itself to the thermosetting adhesive without being externally heated while being fixed and held while being pressed by the pressure roller. Thereby, the heater and the heater holder can be stably bonded and fixed in the assembly line without using any external heating equipment, and the production cost is reduced.
[0015]
By disposing the heating element inside the nip area between the pressure roller and the heater via the film, the amount of heat absorbed from the outside during heat generation is kept constant, and the heater is caused by thermal stress caused by uneven temperature distribution. Destruction can be prevented.
[0016]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
<Embodiment 1>
(1) Example of heating device FIGS. 2 and 3 are schematic structural diagrams of an example of a heating device according to the present invention. FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the heating device, and FIG. 3 is a perspective view of main components of the heating device.
[0017]
The heating device of this embodiment is a so-called tensionless type device disclosed in JP-A-4-44075-44083, JP-A-4-20498-0204498, etc., and heat-fixes an image in an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine or an LBP. Used as a device.
[0018]
Reference numeral 1 denotes a cylindrical fixing film (heat-resistant film) loosely fitted around a heater holder (heater holding member) 3 holding a heater 4 on a lower surface.
[0019]
The cylindrical film 1 is, for example, a polyimide (PI) film whose surface is coated with a fluororesin such as PTFE having a good toner release property. The heater holder 3 is a trough-shaped member having a substantially semicircular cross section and having a horizontally long shape (a direction perpendicular to the drawing), and also serves as a rotation guide member for the cylindrical film 1 fitted to the outside thereof. It is a sex member.
[0020]
As will be described later, the heater 4 has a horizontal thin plate-like ceramic substrate and a heating resistor formed on the substrate surface along the substrate length as a basic component. The heater 4 quickly generates heat by supplying power to the heating resistor. The temperature is raised and the temperature is controlled at a predetermined fixing temperature by a temperature control system. The heater 4 is inserted into a groove formed along the length of the lower surface of the heater holder 3 along the length of the heater holder 3 and is bonded and held with a heat-resistant adhesive. (3) Longitudinal Positional Relationship of Fixing Device and Adhesive Between Heater and Heater Holder FIG. 1 is a schematic longitudinal sectional view of the heating device according to the present embodiment. This is for describing the positional relationship among a pressure roller, a sheet, a toner image area, and an adhesive.
[0043]
In FIG. 1, the length of the heater heating resistor is sufficiently longer than the width of the toner image area so that the heat of the heater can be uniformly applied to the toner image on the sheet surface. At this time, the longer the length of the heating resistor, the more easily it is possible to secure uniform fixing properties. In the present embodiment, the end of the heating resistor is disposed so as to protrude from the transfer paper by about 4 mm.
[0044]
The length of the pressure roller rubber portion in the longitudinal direction, that is, the length of the nip portion N, is preferably longer than the width of the transfer paper in order to reliably press the toner image and to convey the transfer paper without any problem. In the present embodiment, the length of the pressure roller rubber portion is determined so as to be about 2 mm longer than the width of the transfer sheet in consideration of the space saving of the image forming apparatus main body. As a result of considering heat equalization, pressurization / conveyance, and space saving, in the present embodiment, the heat generating resistor is disposed so as to protrude by about 2 mm from the pressure roller rubber portion.
[0045]
FIG. 6 is a schematic cutaway view of the heater holder viewed from the heater surface side. As described above, the heater is fitted into the groove provided in the longitudinal direction on the lower surface of the heater holder, and the heater back surface 4r is received by the upper
[0046]
The application position of the adhesive 12 in the longitudinal direction is basically point-applied at a substantially equal distance. In the case of the point application as described above, since there is no factor of the moving speed of the nozzle of the dispenser as compared with the line application, the application amount can be appropriately managed. As the adhesive, a thermosetting adhesive is used, and the application position is arranged within the length of the heating element. Thus, conventionally, the heater and the heater holder are bonded and fixed by applying heat from the outside using a high-temperature layer or the like, but the heater and the heater holder can be bonded and fixed reliably by energizing the heating element. That is, the bonding is performed by applying an adhesive between the heater and the heater holder to perform the assembling, and after completing the assembling of the heating device such as the film, the stay, and the pressing roller, by applying a current from an external power supply. In this case, the energizing time is about 1 minute, and the adhesive strength converges. This eliminates the need for a high-temperature layer for bonding, which was conventionally required, and further reduces the heating time in units of several hours because an external temperature is applied. Is greatly reduced.
[0047]
By arranging the end of the heating resistor inside the rubber portion of the pressure roller, the heater surface having the heating element eliminates the influence of the heat insulation effect of air and prevents destruction due to heat contact stress. Therefore, in the length direction, (toner image area) <adhesion area><(heating element area) <(pressure roller length)
Each area is arranged so that
[0048]
In addition, by providing a gap (about 0.3 to 0.6 mm) between both ends of the heater and the heater holder, the end of the heater collides with the heater holder due to thermal expansion of the heater at the time of heat generation, thereby preventing breakage.
[0049]
<Example of image forming apparatus>
FIG. 7 is a schematic diagram of an example of the image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus of this embodiment is a copying machine or a printer using a transfer type electrophotographic process.
[0050]
Reference numeral 31 denotes a rotating drum type electrophotographic photosensitive member (hereinafter, referred to as a photosensitive drum) as an image carrier. It is rotationally driven at a predetermined peripheral speed (process speed) in the clockwise direction indicated by the arrow.
[0051]
[0052]
Image exposure 33 (corresponding to target image information) on the primary charging processing surface of the rotating photosensitive drum 31 is performed by an image exposure unit (not shown) such as a slit exposure unit of an original image or a laser beam scanning exposure unit. Thus, an electrostatic latent image corresponding to the exposure image is formed on the surface of the rotating photosensitive drum.
[0053]
34 is a developing means. The electrostatic latent image formed on the rotating photosensitive drum surface is developed as a toner image.
[0054]
[0055]
36 is a cleaning means. The surface of the rotating photosensitive drum after the transfer of the toner image to the transfer material S is cleaned.
[0056]
R is the heating device shown in the above embodiment.
[0057]
The transfer material S that has received the toner image transfer from the rotating photosensitive drum surface in the transfer unit is separated from the rotating photosensitive drum 31, and is conveyed and introduced to an image heating and fixing device R as a heating device through a guide member 37. The image is subjected to heat fixing processing and output as a copy or print.
[0058]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to eliminate the high-temperature layer equipment regarding the bonding between the heater and the heater holder, and further, it is possible to bond the heater and the heater holder in the assembly line while fixing the heater and the heater holder by pressing the pressing roller. Thus, the number of in-process parts can be reduced, the assembling time can be shortened, and the assembling cost can be reduced.
[0059]
The temperature distribution of the heater can be made uniform, and the breakage of the heater can be prevented.
