TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an electric load driving device and a circuit for flowing a current to an electric load, and more particularly to an electric load driving device and an electric load driving circuit having a high-side output form in which an output transistor flows a current to an electric load. Things.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, electronic control devices for vehicles, such as engine control devices and transmission control devices mounted on automobiles, control a control target by driving various electric loads such as relays and solenoids according to the driving state of the vehicle. ing.
[0003]
Such an electronic control device includes, as means for driving an electric load, an output transistor provided in a current supply path of the electric load to connect or cut off the current supply path, and a microcomputer ( An electric load drive circuit including a transistor drive circuit that is turned on / off in response to an energization control signal from a dedicated IC or the like is provided.
[0004]
The output form for supplying the drive current to the electric load differs depending on the type and application of the electric load, and either the high-side output form or the low-side output form is adopted. When the transistor is an N-channel MOSFET of a high-side output type, the output is supplied to a current supply path from the high-potential side of the load power supply (a battery voltage which is generally the potential of the positive terminal of a battery in a vehicle) to an electric load. The drain and source, which are two output terminals of the transistor, are connected in series. Further, in this case, a booster circuit for generating a voltage higher than the voltage of the load power supply is provided as a component of the electric load driving circuit, and the transistor driving circuit is configured to supply a current control signal from a microcomputer or the like to the current supply to the electric load. Is supplied, the output voltage of the booster circuit is supplied to the gate of the output transistor to turn on the output transistor.

[0021]
The present invention has been made in view of such a problem, and an electric load driving apparatus and an electric load which can prevent an output transistor of a high side output form from being unnecessarily turned on due to a decrease in power supply voltage to a transistor driving circuit. It is intended to provide a driving circuit.
[0022]
Means for Solving the Problems and Effects of the Invention
In order to achieve the above object, the electric load driving device according to
[0023]
The transistor driving circuit supplies the charging voltage of the capacitor to the gate of the output transistor when the energization control signal from the control unit is at the active level for instructing the energization of the electric load. Turn on.
[0024]
In particular, the electric load driving device according to
[0025]
According to this electric load driving device, when the power supply voltage to the transistor drive circuit decreases, the electric power charged in the capacitor is discharged by the power supply voltage decrease discharge means. Unnecessary turning on of the output transistor when the operation of the drive circuit becomes unstable can be prevented.
[0026]
Therefore, particularly, when the transistor drive circuit detects that a current equal to or greater than the overcurrent determination value has flowed into the output transistor, the supply of the charging voltage to the gate of the output transistor is stopped regardless of the energization control signal. The output transistor is forcibly turned off. "If the output transistor has a short-circuit abnormality in which a current greater than or equal to the overcurrent determination value can flow through the output transistor, Since the output transistor is prevented from being turned on due to a drop in the power supply voltage to the drive circuit, the output transistor can be reliably protected from failure due to overcurrent.
[0027]
By the way, the power supply voltage drop discharge means is configured to discharge the electric charge charged in the capacitor when detecting the occurrence of the predetermined situation in which the power supply voltage drops, as described in
[0028]
On the other hand, the power supply voltage drop discharge means monitors the power supply voltage to the transistor drive circuit and determines that the power supply voltage is the lowest voltage (transistor that can normally operate the transistor drive circuit). When it is detected that the voltage becomes lower than a threshold voltage set to a value higher than the minimum operating voltage of the drive circuit, the charge stored in the capacitor may be discharged.
[0029]
In particular, according to the electric load driving device of the third aspect, since the power supply voltage is directly monitored, the power supply voltage is not limited to the specific case where the relay or the switch is turned off, but may be caused by any cause. Even if the voltage drops, the capacitor can be discharged, and before the operation of the transistor drive circuit becomes unstable, the discharge of the capacitor is started and the charging voltage of the capacitor is reduced to a level at which the output transistor cannot be turned on. It is more certain because it can be made to work.
[0030]
Next, an electric load driving device according to a fourth aspect of the present invention includes a boosting operation stopping means in addition to the electric load driving device according to the first to third aspects. The boosting operation stopping means stops the boosting operation of the boosting circuit when the power supply voltage drop discharging means discharges the electric charge charged in the capacitor.
[0031]
According to the electric load driving device of the fourth aspect, since the charging voltage of the capacitor can be reduced more quickly, unnecessary turning on of the output transistor can be more reliably prevented.
Next, in the electric load driving circuit according to the fifth aspect, like the conventional electric load driving circuit 103 illustrated in FIG. 9, two output terminals are provided on a current supply path from the high potential side of the load power supply to the electric load. Are connected in series, and when a voltage higher than the voltage of the load power supply is supplied to the gate and turned on, an output transistor of a high-side output form for flowing a current to an electric load, and a predetermined voltage supplied to the load power supply A booster circuit that boosts the voltage to a voltage higher than the output voltage, a capacitor that is charged by the output voltage of the booster circuit, and operates by receiving a power supply voltage from a circuit drive power supply that is different from the load power supply. A transistor driving circuit for turning on / off the transistor in response to an external conduction control signal.
[0032]
The transistor driving circuit supplies the charging voltage of the capacitor to the gate of the output transistor when the external energization control signal is at the active level instructing the energization of the electric load, thereby controlling the output transistor. Turn on.
In particular, the electric load driving circuit according to claim 5 includes a discharging unit, and the discharging unit discharges the electric charge stored in the capacitor in response to an external discharge instruction signal.
[0033]
According to the electric load driving circuit of the fifth aspect, when the power supply voltage to the transistor driving circuit decreases, the discharging instruction signal for instructing the discharging means to discharge the capacitor is input to the discharging means. The electric load driving device according to
[0034]
Specifically, when a predetermined situation in which the power supply voltage to the transistor drive circuit is reduced occurs, a discharge instruction signal for instructing discharge of the capacitor is input to the discharging means. And the power supply voltage to the transistor drive circuit is monitored outside the electric load drive circuit, and the power supply voltage is set to a value higher than the minimum operating voltage of the transistor drive circuit. 4. The electric load driving device according to
[0035]
Next, the electric load driving circuit according to
The electric load driving circuit according to
[0036]
According to the electric load drive circuit of the sixth aspect, a control unit including a microcomputer and a dedicated IC outputs an energization control signal to the electric load drive circuit, and the control unit controls the transistor drive. If the power supply control signal to the electric load drive circuit is set to a passive level when the power supply voltage to the circuit decreases, the electric load drive device according to
[0037]
Specifically, the control unit is configured to set the energization control signal to the electric load drive circuit to a passive level when detecting that a predetermined situation in which the power supply voltage to the transistor drive circuit is reduced has occurred. Then, the electric load driving device according to
[0038]
In particular, according to the electric load driving circuit of the sixth aspect, the number of signals to be input is reduced by one as compared with the electric load driving circuit of the fifth aspect. This is advantageous because the number of input terminals when all or some of the components are integrated into an IC can be reduced.
[0039]
Next, an electric load driving circuit according to a seventh aspect is provided with a boosting operation stopping means in addition to the electric load driving circuit according to the fifth or sixth aspect. Then, the boosting operation stopping means stops the boosting operation of the boosting circuit when the discharging means discharges the charge charged in the capacitor.
[0040]
According to the electric load driving circuit of the seventh aspect, since the charging voltage of the capacitor can be reduced more quickly, unnecessary turning on of the output transistor can be more reliably prevented.
